29th of December 2028

Rose woke up early on the morning after Scorpius' twenty third birthday. After a lunch with friends and family, the two had spent the rest of the day just at home together, in the beautiful little house they'd bought together a month or so ago.

It had been a beautiful afternoon, evening, and night. They'd finally got round to fixing the swings they'd bought when they'd moved in up onto the trees in the pretty little garden and had spent a good hour or so wrapped up in their scarves, hats, and coats swinging as high as they could without the assistance of magic. Eventually, they'd leaped off and gone running inside together, laughing uncontrollably, their cheeks pink and eyes bright. Once in the kitchen, he'd taken her into his arms and the two had looked out of the window at the wintery garden and it had started to snow and all Rose could think was that everything was so beautiful and it was like her life was glowing, sparkling.

"I am madly in love with you." Scorpius had said, kissing her gently. And Rose had found herself so choked up with emotion, so overcome by just how much she loved this beautiful blonde boy who loved her too, that she hadn't been able to reply for a moment or two.

"I don't have words for how much I love you, Scor. I just- I'm just- Like I'm speechless because it's just so, so, so big, y'know? Just so much. I love you." she'd eventually replied, resting her head on his shoulder and wrapping her arms around him.

And he hadn't replied, had instead simply pulled her closer. And they'd stayed like that in their gorgeous little kitchen for some time, too overcome by how much there was, by how much they felt, by how happy they were, by how madly in love they were, by how words just weren't necessary.

Later, they'd simply curled up on the sofa together, reading and talking and laughing and kissing. And Scorpius couldn't stop muttering that this was the best birthday of his life, and Rose couldn't stop smiling because she couldn't believe this was hers, that she was with this silly, beautiful, funny, loving, kind, laughing boy and that he was with her. She couldn't believe this was her forever. Because how could anyone possibly be this lucky?

"What shall we do for food?" Scor had asked at about nine o'clock, there was a look on his face that suggested he already had an idea and was just asking Rose too because he couldn't ever help but make sure he was giving her everything she could ever want.

"If you're thinking what I'm thinking I may have to marry you," Rose had replied with a grin, resting her feet in his lap.

"Threat or a promise?" he had laughed, taking her left hand and kissing each of her fingers before reaching her ring finger and the delicate little ring on it.

"Well tell me you're hoping I'll say we should order pizza and then we'll see!" she giggled, stretching her arm out and making the engagement ring glitter in the flickering light of the fire. They had decided to get engaged shortly after moving into their house together, and they had picked the ring together, both believing that the whole notion of proposals and family rings was really a bit too outdated for them.

"Congratulations, you got yourself a husband!" he'd replied, his eyes had lit up the moment she'd correctly guessed that he was after a pizza.

"Thank goodness for that!" had been her response, and then she'd kissed him on the cheek before reaching for the phone so that she could order their pizzas.

It had been a beautiful birthday. There had been something so beautifully calm and gentle and magical about it.

And as Rose stretched and looked at the gorgeous man beside her in bed in their pretty little dark bedroom at six in the morning, she once again felt so contented and happy and completely alive with how much she loved him. She got out of bed and went downstairs to the kitchen to put the kettle on. It had snowed so much yesterday and in the night, and the garden was completely covered in white. It was a beautiful blank canvas and it made Rose happy just looking at it. It was a shame Scor had work that day, as otherwise they could have spent some of the day making a snowman or having a snowball fight or something. But he did have work, and she did too as she was getting a little behind on her jewellery making, it made her uncomfortable to have more orders than stock, and that was very close to becoming the case.

She had another engagement that day as well. She was having her father over for lunch. They hadn't spoken properly in, well, forever, and Rose had decided that she wanted to try to reconnect with him before the year was over. She had just about got to a stage where she'd almost forgiven he and her mother for destroying hers and Hugo's childhood. Just. Almost. Really, though, she'd come to the realisation that it just wasn't healthy to be holding onto that anger and resentment, that as shit as the past had been, that didn't mean the future had to be that way too. Her life now was this beautiful happy little adventure and she felt like if she could make things better, she should.

So she would. She would do everything in her power to make everything good and right and better. Because she had the power to do that. Gone was the sad, scared girl who pushed everyone away, in her place was a young woman who knew that the best thing she could do was surround herself with love and give that love to everyone else as well. Sometimes it was hard to stop smiling at the way things had turned out, sometimes it was hard to believe this really was her life now, that she now had a forever she never thought she wanted with the beautiful boy she'd never let herself have. But she did. And she would hold onto it for as long as she possibly could, and she would never take it for granted. Because this was happiness, this was an ongoing happily-ever-after, a happy ending that would never stop as long as she kept herself open to love and happiness, as long as she held onto Scorpius and supported him when he needed support, and allowed him to support her when she needed it. This was her life now, and Rose couldn't wait to see what the future had in store for her.

A/N: I cannot believe I have actually finished this story! This is definitely the end of this story, though in the future I may write more about this Rose and Scorpius and their future. Meanwhile, I intend on writing about other characters in the same universe thing, and am three chapters into my James Potter (2) centric story. Younger Rose and Scorpius play a smallish role in that story, and it's about James Potter as a 7th Year Gryffindor who just really wants to do well and make everyone proud. It's more structured than this story was, and the subject matter isn't as heavy. The first two chapters should be up now if you want to read it!

I'm sorry it's been like a month between this update and the last update of this story, it's just that I had a solid month of the most intense and horrific and life-deciding exams of my life so far. But now I have a 3 month long summer and agonising wait to find out if I did well enough insaid exams for university (aargh!), so I should be able to update my new fic more regularly!

Anyway, thank you so much for reading and reviewing, I would love it if you reviewed this final chapter for me.
