We quickly got back to the group, smiling. We told them about the place, and Rick thought it was a good idea to go check it out. We brought the group to the clearing, and we carefully walked up to the front gate. There was a chain keeping it shut, and a lock. Glenn found an axe at the town we visited, so we used that to break it open.

While Lori, Beth, Carol, Hershel, and the kids stayed outside the gates, in the car near the road, the rest of us went inside the house. Our guns raised, we first rang the doorbell, hoping that if there were any walkers inside, they would come to the door and we could kill them easily.

And that's what happened. Four walkers came, one female, three male. One of them couldn't have been older than fifteen when he turned, the other around twenty or so.

We checked the house, and when we didn't find another walker, Maggie, T-Dog, and I went to go get the others. We all grabbed our bags and walked into the giant house.

"There are six bedrooms." Rick said, "Lori and Carl can take one, Hershel and Beth, Alexa and the girls, Maggie and Glenn, Carol and T-Dog can take them. Daryl, you and I are on first watch on the roof. T-Dog, I want you in the living room on watch and Glenn in the kitchen by the back door."

Riley and Charlie grabbed their bags and I grabbed mine and Daryl's. He was the only one without a room. So, he can sleep with the girls and I. After choosing a room, one that was not next to Maggie or Glenn's, I went to search for an air mattress. Riley and Charlie could take the bed, and Daryl and I can sleep on the mattress. I tried to look for two singles, but I only found a double. I hope Daryl doesn't mind sharing.

As I took out some clothes for Charlie and Riley to change into, I heard T-Dog's cheering.

"Water! We have water for the showers, y'all! There's a generator out back!"

I smiled at the kids, "You hear that? Tonight, we get a shower."

After Lori and Carl took a shower, I waited thirty minutes before letting Charlie take one, then Riley after her. As they took a shower, I helped Lori and Carol in the kitchen, heating up some stew. The house still had food in it, there was plenty of cans of food and ramen and stuff.

Daryl went out to hunt after his watch, so I set aside some food for him. And Riley. T-Dog said that he saw her run after Daryl in the woods. After dinner, it was my turn to shower. It felt nice, the warm water on my body. And the shampoo and conditioner, I've never been happier.

RPOV

I sat on the roof, picking at the hole in my jeans. I'm gonna do my part, pull my weight. So, I'm secretly taking watch. Charlie was inside and Alexa was helping make dinner.

I saw something out of the corner of my eye and I grabbed my knife. But when I looked, it was Daryl. He was heading towards the woods. I quickly and quietly got off the roof and followed him into the woods.

But, I lost him. So, I walked in the direction I believe he walked in.

"You shouldn' be out here."

I let out a small squeak and turned to face Daryl, "I wanted to come with."

"Does Alexa know?" He asked.

"At some point she will." I answered.

Daryl sighed, his hand on his hip, "Fine. Come on."

I smiled before running over to him and we walked away from the mansion.

APOV

I was asleep on the air mattress when the door opened. I saw legs walk by my and noticed that it was Riley. I heard the blankets move and the bed squeak before it went silent again. I was dozing off when the door opened... again. This time it was Daryl.

I heard his clothes shuffling around before the air mattress dipped down. I guess he didn't mind.

"Did you get anything?" I asked.

"A few squirrels. Found a deer trail, I'll head back out in the mornin'." He answered.

"Well, if I'm not up by the time you head out, good luck." I said and he grunted in response before I fell asleep.

RPOV

It's been a few weeks since we've found this place. I'm just waiting for something bad to happen. Nothing good lasts long in this world. We've already gotten into a routine. Carol and Lori and Beth would do the laundry and the cooking, Maggie, Glenn, and Alexa would go on runs. Daryl would hunt, and he, Rick, and T-Dog and a few others would go on watch. I was one of them.

Lori was growing bigger by the day. Hershel said she must've gotten pregnant before the CDC. She was at least a month or two along.

It was getting cold. Like, really cold. It would probably snow in the next few days. Good thing Maggie, Alexa, and Glenn stocked up on winter clothing.

"Hey." I turned around from my spot on the roof and saw Carl.

"Hi."

"I found a deck of cards. Want to play a game or something?" He asked.

I smiled, "Even after all this time, you still ask."

"Is that a no?"

I patted the space next to me, "What are we playing?"

Carl shrugged as he sat down, "Go Fish?"

"Sure."
