As excited as Bella was to be getting married to Emmett she did have one regret. She had always thought that her mom would be involved in the planning and would be there to share in her joy. Emmett, Esme, and Alice had been more than understanding since they understood where she was was coming from. Esme had become like a mother to her since she had been changed but she understood that no one could take Renee's place. Bella had been torn on if she should call her mom and tell her the truth but Alice saw the outcome and it hadn't been pretty. To save her mom from what might happen Bella decided against it. She would just have to move on.
The day of the wedding was overcast with a good chance of rain late that afternoon. It was cool but not cold enough to keep the wedding from taking place outside. They had forgone tradition and had spent the night together before much to Alice's dismay. Bella was reading on the chaise lounge that Emmett had bought for her that faced the windows over looking the back yard when a pair of large hands covered her eyes. Emmett's chin rested on her shoulder and his breath warmed her neck. She smiled when his lips brushed her earlobe.
"What are you doing?" she asked with a giggle.
"Giving you a taste of tonight," he said huskily.
"So I'm giong to be blindfolded my first time, huh?"
"Would you be up for that?"
"Only if I get to tie you up at some point."
"I love it when you talk dirty to me," he breathed shallowly.
"I thought that you were going hunting with Carlisle and your brothers."
"We're waiting on Edward; Rosalie kept him occupied all night and he's still getting ready."
Jasper cleared his throat from the hall and Emmett kissed her noisly before doing an about face and marching out of the room. He saluted Jasper stiffly and Jasper rolled his eyes, cracking a smile.
"Private McCarty, reporting for duty, Sir!" Emmett yelled.
"At ease soldier, we move out in ten minutes," Jasper said seriously.
Bella shook her head with a light laugh. The mood throughout the house was light and she hoped that it would stay that way. She heard footfalls on the stairs and the smell of blood overwhelmed her. It wasn't her dad, Billy or one of the boys that was for sure. The smell of apples and vanilla made her think of her mother. No, it couldn't be. She turned her upper body to face the door and sure enough, Renee stood at the door staring at her with wide, tear filled eyes.
"How-" Renee said but stopped herself.
"Who-" Bella countered.
"Alice," Renee said with a small smile.
"Do you want to know the whole story?"
"Alice told me all I needed to know. Can I hug you?" she asked, choking on a sob.
Bella was in front of her mother half a second later. Renee gasped but held out her arms. Bella would have to remember to take things slowly with Renee. She loved her mom but she wasn't capable of handling too much at once. She was fragile and flighty, the opposite of Bella and her dad.
Renee held Bella close but since she was still learning to restrain her strength Bella held her mother limply. Renee acted like she was tough but she was the least strong person that Bella had ever known. This would probably be the last time she saw her mother face to face so she was going to make the most of it.
"So, are you taking his last name or are you adding it to yours?"
"I've given it a lot of thought and I've decided to drop Swan and take his last name. Dad understands."
"Good choice. I can't believe that this is happening. I keep thinking that I'm gonna wake up and this will all have been a dream," renee said in astonishment.
"It's really happening. It can't happen again so lets make the most out of the time we have," Bella rationalized.
"Alice said that I could call you whenever I wanted."
"You can, I'll always want to talk to you," Bella promised.
"I can't tell Phil?"
"The fewer people who know the better."
"I understand," she said quietly.
Esme came into the room and placed Bella's dress on the back of the closet door. She started to leave when Bella called her name. She held out an arm, inviting her into the hug. Esme smiled endearingly at Bella as she enveloped her and Renee in a hug.
"Mom, have you had a chance to meet my future mother-in-law?"
"No, I haven't. It's a pleasure to meet you," Renee said politely.
"The pleasure is all mine. I'm honored to meet the woman who shaped Bella into the person she is today."
Renee smiled prouldy and soon Alice made her way in between Bella and Renee. Rosalie stood at the door watching them sadly. Her wedding day had been a small affair with only Esme, Carlisle and Emmett in attendance. She wasn't jealous of Bella but she did wish that she'd had what Bella did. Alice and Jasper hadn't come into the picture until she and Edward had been married ten years but she knew that if Alice had been there she would have gone out of her way just like she'd done for Bella.
Bella's eyes met Rosalie's over Renee's shoulder and she gave her a sympathetic look. Rosalie shook her head with a sigh, the last thing she wanted was Bella's pity. They had made some big strides towards becoming friends but they weren't there yet.
"You need to start getting ready. Would you like to help her Renee?" Esme asked.
"Only if you help too."
"I'd be delighted to help."
Alice left the room closing the door after her. Bella dressed in the closet and came back out so that Renee could zip her up. Renee sniffed as she gave Bella a once over.
"You look beautiful, that dress is perfect," Renee murmured.
Esme went to the bathroom to get Renee some tissues. Renee smiled her thanks, dabbing her eyes with one hand and smoothing down the dress with the other. Esme pulled the elastic from her hair then grabbed a brush from Bella's dresser. Bella wasn't used to having someone else brush her hair but she would let it happen today. Esme dragged the brush thorugh Bella's hair a few times before proclaiming that Bella should leave her hair down for the wedding. Bella nodded her approvail and Renee pulled a small box out of her purse.
"This was grandma Marie's. I wore it on both my wedding days."
Renee pulled a silver butterfly shaped barrette with saphire stones scattered over the wings. Esme gathered hair from Bella's temples, twisting them into loose braids and securing them with the barrette. Bella looked at herself in the mirror and she was in awe. She had never been someone who felt the need to look at herself in the mirror. She had been through so many changes since Emmett had changed her. Her cheek bones were more refined, her lips fuller, her breasts were fuller and more filled out. Is this how other people saw her?
"Still adjusting to the changes, I see," Esme said as she curled a strand of hair around her finger.
Bella's eyes met hers in the mirror and Esme gave her look that let her know that she understood. Bella gave her a small smile before turning her attention to her mother who was talking to her.
"I don't think you need makeup," Renee said with a shake of her head.
"I agree," Esme said thoughtfully.
Alice came in with a camera and the women posed for a few pictures before Rosalie announced that Charlie would be pulling up with Billy, Jacob and Embry soon. The Denali clan had been forewarned that humans would be at the wedding. Bella couldn't get over how beautiful the sisters were or how handsome Eleazar was. She'd never met anyone like them and she didn't know her mom would react.
She didn't have to wonder long. Kate, Irina, Carmen and Tanya came upstairs a few minutes later to introduce themselves to Renee while Alice let the new arrivals in. They were cordial to Renee, already refering to Bella as family. Charlie came into the room with Alice on his arm carrying a small box of his own.
"Doesn't he look dapper?" Alice asked with a pleased smile.
"I look like a penguin," Charlie grumbled.
"You look great, Dad," Bella corrected him.
"If I wasn't married I'd marry you all over again," Renee chimed in.
"All you need is a cane and you could have stepped out of The Great Gatsby," Alice praised.
Bella walked over to him and he took her in as she glided towards him. His lips pulled at one corner to give her a half smile which she returned. They hugged only briefly before he held out the box to her.
"The woman at the store said that they dated back to the eighteen nineties," he ssaid as she opened the box.
Inside was a pair of chandalier silver and diamond earings.
"Dad, these must have cost you a fortune."
"The money's not important. Alice went with me and said they'd go with your dress, so I bought them," he said with a shrug.
"Thank you," she said as she put them on.
Esme left the room and came back with a pair of silver pattened leather heels that looked like they had come right out of the forties.
"Rosalie is letting you borrow these," she said holding them out.
"All you need is something new," Alice observered.
"I'm a newborn, doesn't that count?"
Esme look at Alice who shook her head. Bella stomped her foot, giving Alice a dirty look.
"I have an idea," Esme said.
She left the room and was back a few minutes later. She held out her hand offering Bella a key.
"Technically it's from Emmett so I had to get his permission."
"What is it to?"
"You'll find out later," she said, patting Bella's hand reassuringly.
Bella let it go, glad that it wasn't a car key. She heard Emmett and the others come back so Alice went back downstairs. Everyone upstairs heard the conversation between her and Emmett.
"You can't see her yet," Alice reasoned.
"You promised me that you wouldn't do this," Emmett said evenly.
"I had my fingers crossed behind my back!" she admitted.
"Let it go Emmett, you have to get ready anyway," Edward reminded him.
"Your suit is in Carlisle's office," Alice informed him.
Once Emmett was out of the room she smiled at the boys and Billy.
"I'll have her come down," she said politely.
Bella came down with Renee and Charlie while the Cullen's got ready.
"You're as pretty as a picture Bella," Billy said with an easy smile.
"Thank you, Billy," she said politely.
"I was just talking to Eleazar about how your dad and I used to go fishing in Alaska once a year."
"Why don't you go anymore?"
"I haven't felt comfortable leaving Jake alone for two weeks."
So that meant that he hadn't gone since Sarah died. Bella left the sbuject alone and Billy peppered Renee with questions about herself. Bella was glad that they were all there to share this with her. The boys sat off to the side, far away from Eleazar; both sat ram rod straight, staring off into space in front of them.
"Guys, why don't we go outside?" she asked calmly.
They followed her without complaint and each hugged her in greeting. She led them to the benches set up for the wedding. Alice had talked Edward and Jasper into building a cover for her to walk under. The posts were wrapped in twinkling lights and pink rose petals were scattered along the walkway leading to the aisle.
"You look nice," Jacob complimented her.
"Thanks," she said shyly.
"Y'all went all out, huh?" Embry asked, looking around.
"I'm the first person to join the family in over fifty years. It's a big deal."
"Thanks for getting us out of there, that guy was creeping me out. He kept staring at us," Embry said with a cringe.
"Maybe he likes to prey on teenage boys," Bella said with a smirk.
They both scoffed but Bella could tell that the two of them were unnerved. She needed to take their minds off of what was going on inside. But how?
"Boys? I have some extra chicken and pasta from last night if you're hungry," Esme called.
She brought it out and the boys dived in on the back deck. Bella smiled gratefully and Esme waved her off letting her know that she had the situation under control. Bella could concentrait on spending time with her mom while she could.

Emmett stood at the alter with Carlisle and Jasper. The Denali's gave the boys plenty of space after the freak out that afternoon. Everyone talked quietly while they waited for Alice, Charlie and Bella. Alice came down the aisle and within seconds everyone turned. The opening chords of Me and You by Kenny Chesney began to play and Charlie and Bella stepped into view.
Emmett hadn't been this on edge when he got married for the first time. He wasn't nervous, he was anxious to start his life with Bella as his wife. Bella looked at him from under her lashes, giving him a small smile as Charlie took his time walking her down the aisle. He handed her off and Emmett heaved a sigh of relief. His eyes were lost in hers and before he knew it; it was time to recite their vows.
He picked her up off her feet and pressed his lips to hers when Carlisle told him that he could kiss her. She kicked her feet up and her laugh was cut off by his tongue.
"I don't think that's appropriate right now, son," Carlisle said with a light chuckle.
Bella pulled away with a breathless laugh.
"I now present to you, Mr. and Mrs. Emmett McCarty," Carlisle said proudly.
Emmett set her down and took one of her hands in his. He held it up, a wide smile threatening to crack his face open. Bella looked up at him; smiling proudly. The group clapped loudly and Esme took picture after picture. Alice announced that everyone was welcome to go inside where there would be food and dancing.
Emmett and Bella stayed behind to have a few moments to themselves. He looked down at her, still smiling but this smile was different. This smile was peacful and calm, letting her know that he felt as lucky as she did. She turned to face him, taking hold of his other hand.
"You look how I feel," she said with a short laugh.
"So you're happy?"
"Insanely happy," she said with a sigh.
"It'll always be this way. I won't ever hurt you," he promised.
"I won't either," she said with a quick nod.
Music and laughter from the house filtered out to them and they both turned towards the house. Her mom was talking to Esme and her dad and Billy were talking to Edward. The boys and Carlisle couldn't be seen but it didn't raise any concern.
After a few more minutes they finally went inside. Charlie and Renee both hugged Bella and Renee said that she had to leave. She had only been able to get a day off from work and she had to work in the morning. Charlie was on call starting in an hour but he could stay for longer since he had driven his cruiser and his uniform was in the back. Edward and Rosalie left, offering to take Renee to the airport. Billy and the boys left since it was getting late and the boys had school in the morning. The Denali's made themselves scarse so that Emmett and Bella could celebrate with his family and her dad.
It was eleven when Charlie got a call from the station. The Denali's had left an hour before and Carlisle, Esme, Alice and Jasper had headed up to their rooms for the night. Emmett fingered the key which Bella had put on her necklace for safe keeping.
"Are you ready?"
"Am I ready?" she asked in confusion.
"Are you ready to find out what the key goes to?"
"I've been ready since Esme gave it to me."
He took her hand and pulled her out the back door. They walked at human speed through the woods hand in hand taking in the sights and sounds of the forest. After ten minutes Emmett got impatient and pulled her into his arms and took off through the woods. Bella threw her head back in laughter, loving the feeling of wind whipping through her hair.
A minute later a small flicker of light came into view. It got bigger the closer they got to it and soon Bella could see that the light came from a lamp post outside a small cottage. The cottage was made of gray stone and the roof was black tin. Emmett stopped at the bottom of the stairs and set her down. She unhooked her necklace quickly and the key slid off into her hand. Her hand shook slightly from excitement as she slipped the key into the lock and Emmett pulled her into arms once more. He turned the key in the lock then slowly opened the door. He reached inside and flipped a switch causing the electric fireplace to come alive.
He carried her over the threshhold and placed her on the floor. She turned in a circle to find that the front room expanded the whole front of the cabin. There was a narrow hallway.
"This is ours?"
"I built it myself," he said proudly.
"Very nice," she said in astonishment.
She walked down the hall to find a single bedroom and a bathroom off of it. The bedroom ran the back length of the house with two different closets. Emmett was lighting candles in the front room when she came back in. He'd taken off his jacket, unbuttoned his shirt and discarded his tie already. She reached behind her and unzipped her dress and he looked up just as it slid down her body.
At the sight of her in her strapless bra and panties caused him to stand at full attention. She crossed the room to him slowly and when she was inches away from him he reached out for her. His eyes raked over her body, taking it all in. He knew not rushing things with her and doing right by her would pay off and now he could finally claim her as his. He pulled the clip from her hair then buried his hands in her hair. She placed her hands on his shoulders and pushed his shirt down his arms. He untangled his hands from her hair to pull it off the rest of the way as she wrapped her arms around his neck.
His erection pressed into her stomach as she stepped closer to him. She had wanted this for so long and now that it was happening she wanted to take her time and drink everything in. Emmett reached behind her to unhook her bra and it fell to the floor at their feet. His large hands engulfed them, his thumbs brushing over the nipples causing them to become taught. Bella undid his belt and yanked it from its loops to join her bra. She took her time unbuttoning and unzipping his pants before reaching inside.
Emmett's eyes fluttered closed and he hissed in pleasure when she wrapped her small, delicate hand around his member. She smiled devilishly as she pushed his pants and underwear down with her other hand. She was on her knees and had him in her mouth before he could kick them off. She got a low gutteral growl for her efforts as she ran her tongue down his length.
"Jesus," he moaned.
She smiled around his cock but didn't slow her efforts. His hands fisted in her hair once more, setting the pace that he wanted. She let him take over since she wanted to learn his likes and dislikes. She wanted to prove to him that she could give as well as take. They continued like this for a few more minutes before Emmett pushed her to the floor gently. Her underwear were discarded before his fingers assulted her center.
After the decision to wait until they were married to have sex had been made Emmett had broken her vaginal wall since it would be impossible to break once she had been changed. His fingers had been gentle then but they were not now. They moved in and out of her mercessly and she gasped in pleasure as he hit her pleasure spot repeatedly. His eyes locked on hers and she saw the desire and love that he felt for her. She exhaled slowly, that look always made her come undone. That was a look especially for her and she couldn't believe that he was hers for the rest of enternity.
She wound her arms around his neck once more, pulling him down to her. Her lips captured his in a slow kiss which turned urgent as he brought her closer to extacy. His tongue glided over hers in time with his fingers at her center. Without warning he pulled away and his fingers followed. He took hold of his erection, guiding it to her center. She closed her eyes with a smile, knowing that she would never get tired of being with him like this. He was larger than she had expected, if she were human she would have been afraid that he would hurt her but not now.
He rested his weight on his arms before settling on a rythm that he was happy with. Bella arched her back to met his thrust once she had adjusted to the feeling of him inside of her. His eyes met hers once more and she brushed his hair out of his eyes before giving him an endearing look. She knew that she should have been nervous since this was her first time but she wasn't. She felt nothing but her love for him and his for her. Her hands rested on his biceps feeling the muscles flex and relax underneath her fingers.
He wrapped his arms around her and stood with ease to carry her to their bedroom. He lay her gently on the bed to rake his eyes over her once more. She took this time to take him in. Though she'd seen him without a shirt she'd never seen him completely naked before tonight. His member still stood at attention and she yearned to touch it. He had other plans. He hovered over her once more, sinking into her before she could reach out for him. The sounds of their love making were joined by the sounds of the night and as the sun came up they lay side by side his arms wrapped around her and her head rested on his chest. They heard someone at the door and he just knew that it was Alice. They dressed quickly then linked hands and walked down the hall as Alice let herself in.
"Well, you didn't tear the furniture apart, so you must have controlled yourselves," she observed.
They looked around the room to see the blanket they had used, tossed over the couch. The candles had burned out and the fireplace filled the room with heat that they didn't need. Emmett crossed to the wall and turned it off as Alice sat on the couch. He gave her a stern look and she stood.
"Okay, okay, I'm going. I know when I'm not wanted," she said walking to the door.
Neither of them heard her. Emmett had pulled Bella over his shoulder and he ran back to the room. He threw her onto the bed roughly.
"We should have just gone out there naked, that would have scared her off," Bella said.
"This is Alice we're talking about, she doesn't get scared," Emmett said with a shake of his head.
Their clothes were shed and they set about consumating their marriage for the fourth time. If there were more visistors than the sounds of their lovemaking had scared them off. They held nothing back and made up for lost time.
