I walked back into the house, with questions running through my mind. Why was CeCe talking to Toby? And what 'personal issues' were they discussing? Despite all these questions, I had to see the pros and cons. Stories are never just black and white. Maybe they deliberately had that conversation. I mean, of all places on the side walk? Even though Toby is my neighbour, couldn't they find someplace else that was more private? Toby and CeCe could have just planned all this.
"God, I want my bed." I groan as I sluggishly make my way up the stairs, ready for sleep to overtake.
The night was shorter than I expected, as I woke up earlier than usual. Nonetheless, the girls and I decided to head to The Brew since Hanna's beginning to open up again about the whole Jason situation. I head downstairs to find my parents already on the way out the door. How can they be up at seven after a night of drinking? I don't even know.
"Where are you two going?" I say with a cheeky smile and my eyebrow arched.
"Just a little morning stroll down the park and then maybe heading for breakfast? Would you like to join us Emmy?" My dad replies as he slips on his shoes. I shake my head as I take a banana from the fruit bowl and begin to peel it.
"No, I'm heading to The Brew with the girls later anyway. Don't wait up for me." I say, before I take a bite out of the banana as my dad quickly gives me a kiss on my forehead.
"Stay safe, kiddo."
"You bet."
The door closes as my mum says goodbye to me, and I'm left alone. I take my phone from the charging cable on the kitchen counter and scroll through the notifications.
Aria: Still on for The Brew? Spence needs her daily does of caffeine.
Hanna: Totally, I'm so over boy drama.
Spencer: I'm already here, I've been waiting for fifteen minutes!
I chuckle with my mouthful of banana, before scrolling through my contacts and giving Alison a call. I throw the peel in the bin as I wait for her to pick up.
"Hello?" She asks in her sleepy, croaky voice and my fingers immediately find the volume up button.
"Hey, baby." I say as I hop onto the counter and swing my legs back and forth. "How was your sleep?"
"I feel like I'm the one with a hangover and not our parents." She groans, but somehow it just makes her sound sexier; causing me to feel all sorts of things I shouldn't be feeling this early in the morning.
I clear my throat and tap on the counter before asking, "so do you need a ride to The Brew today?"
"Yes please."
"Alright, well I'll leave you for now. Get ready by..." I look at the clock in the kitchen, "seven fourty?"
"Mmm hmm..." she hums, probably already falling asleep again.
"See you later, Ali. I love you." I say with a chuckle, earning a yawn in response. I end the call and decided to text her since she probably didn't even listen to me the first time.
"There they are." Aria says as Alison and I were the last to show up at the cafe.
"Sorry we're late. Blondie here decided to sleep in." I say nudging her playfully.
"My bad, I'm just so tired I'm up for five shots of black coffee." Alison says.
"Whoa, there can only be one caffeine addict, and that's me." Spencer says as she hugs me and then Alison.
"She's right, Ali. No one can compete with her." Hanna says as she takes a sip of her latte.
We all take our seats as usual, Aria and Spencer facing each other, Alison on Aria's left with my facing her as Hanna takes the seat next to me on my right. We distract ourselves with the menus when Spencer clears her throat.
"Say whatever you need to say, Spence." Aria says without even looking up from her menu, already knowing her girlfriend's thoughts.
"I'm sorry not to address the elephant in the room sooner," she says sarcastically, "but I was wondering if Han's okay about the whole Jason thing." Spencer says with sorry eyes. I look at Hanna but she seemed unfazed by the topic choice.
She shrugs and smiles, "I'm not going to be the sappy girl in the movies that give up on my love life forever." Hanna says as she stands up. "I know what I want, and I want it now cause I'm starving so you can wait for the waitress to take your orders." She stands up and turns around, however knocking into someone we all knew.
"Hey! Watch it!" He says as he spills his coffee down his grey hoodie, hissing at how hot the coffee is.
"Oh my god, I'm so sorry." Hanna says as she looks to find anything to clean up the mess with.
"Han, are you okay?" I ask as I hand her a couple of tissues (which resulted into the whole box of tissues). The boy looks up and immediately smirks.
"If it isn't Prom Queen who spills my coffee, which one of you would?" Caleb asks the rest of us girls.
"Ugh, Caleb just take your coffee and go." Hanna says with an eye roll as she hands him the empty cup.
"But where's the fun in that Princess? At least let the Jester escort you to the counter for a rag and a refill." Caleb says smugly, leaving Hanna with no choice.
Hanna's P.O.V
"What the hell are you doing here? Can't you be a little more discreet?" I hiss at Caleb as I walk to the counter.
"That's not discreet" He says and I roll my eyes yet again. "I'm sorry, it's just... You haven't been answering my calls lately." He says sympathetically as he leans on the counter.
"Look, I know I haven't been around lately but things happen and I need to breathe a little. Okay?" He nods with agreement before the worker asks for my order to which I'm happy to answer with the club sand which and an extra coffee for Caleb.
"Well, where've you been?" He pushes.
"No where." I reply, as I hand the cashier the money. "This needs to stop Caleb." I say finally looking at him.
"Don't you wanna-"
"No. I- I can't. Not anymore. I'm over it, and you should be too. It's gone too far."
"But-"
"No buts, Caleb!" I say as I take out a fifty and hand it to him, to keep his mouth shut. He looks at me and scoffs.
"I don't need your money, Queen B. Or is that Alison?" He says cooly as the newly brewed coffee arrives. "Thanks for the coffee." He says as he takes it and leaves.
Emily's P.O.V
"So that was a green tea latte, chai latte, an expresso and a mocha with two big breakfasts one eggs Benedict and blueberry pancakes?" The waitress says as she reads off her notebook.
"Is it possible to have a double expresso instead?" Spencer chimes in.
"Just the expresso." Aria says to the waitress as she gently chides Spencer, before it turned into a playful argument.
I face Alison who's scrolling through her Twitter feed. "Babe?" I say.
"Yeah?"
"Um, so last night I sort of eavesdropped on something." I say, playing with the tips of my hair.
"On who?" She asks as she's just beginning to check her Instagram.
"CeCe and Toby." I say. She looks up from her phone and only then did I realise Aria and Spencer weren't play fighting anymore, but staring at me too. Hanna takes a seat and sighs contently.
"So, what'd I miss?"
A/U: So... Things are speculating between Toby and CeCe, but Hanna and Caleb too?! What could it be... I'm sorry for not updating and honestly there's not excuse for it but pure procrastination for like 4 months. Have a good one guys !
