"Elsa? Elsa can you hear me?"

Elsa's eyes started to open slowly and she saw someone leaning over her face. It was her sister.

"Anna?" she called out

Anna sighed in relief. "Oh, thank goodness. She's awake everyone!"

Awake? Confused, Elsa sat up from the bed she was resting on with Anna sitting next to her and saw she was in her chamber. Around the bed, stood Gerda and Kai, Kristoff and Prince Hans. All staring concernedly at her.

Elsa looked at them all. "What's going on? What happened?"

"You fainted your Majesty," Kai spoke. "After Princess Anna's trial."

"The trial!" Elsa gasped as it all came back to her. The trial by combat between Prince Derek and… Eugene! The last thing she remembered was seeing him stabbed and laying on the ground. Dying!

"Eugene. Where' Eugene? What happened to him and the prince?" she asked them.

Everyone hesitated to answer her, so Kai did. "I'm afraid, Prince Derek has died."

After hearing that, Elsa's next words were almost too painful to ask. "And, Eugene...?"

She watched as Prince Hans, Kristoff, Gerda, Kai and Anna all lowered their heads in regret and she felt the cold dread inside her take hold of her heart.

"Oh no!" She cried, her hands covering her mouth in an attempt to hold back the flow of sorrow. Already there where flacks of ice around her. "He's…?"

"He's alive!" burst Anna.

Alive!? Elsa looked at her sister, fearing she might have heard wrong. "He is."

"Yes!" Anna's joyful smile then changed to a sad frown.

"What is it?" Elsa asked but her sister only looked away from her, so she turned to the others in the room. "What has happened to him?

"I'm afraid he has suffered a terrible wound." Said Gerda softly.

Elsa felt her fear returning. "How bad is it?"

"He's…"

Gerda just couldn't finished, so Prince Hans stepped up to the bed and faced the Queen with a grim expression.

"He's dying your Grace."

Elsa looked down at her hands, Instead of feeling another raging storm of fear and sorrow inside her, she felt only a frozen numbness at the news.

He was dying. Eugene, the man who had done so much, sacrificed everything for her family, for her kingdom. For her.

The man she loved and loved her, was dying.

She breathed deeply and looked up, the calm and emotionless face she always wore as the Queen of Arendale had returned to her face as she spoke. "Where is he?"

"He's in the royal infirmary, your Grace," said Kai.

"I see," Elsa moved off the bed and stood to her feet. "I will see him."

"Um, your Grace," Hans then said. "Perhaps now's not a good time for you."

"I will see him now!" Elsa snapped back, her tone sharp as ice.

Neither Kai nor anyone else in the room dared to speak after that, they only parted for her to pass through, watching her as she left the room.

Walking down the hall, Elsa kept her head up and her eyes straight, trying not to let the single tear she had slide down her face as she neared the place where Eugene was.
