Chapter 25
Hinata stands in line next to Nobu. "You have all worked hard to be where you are now. Work harder for the days to come. Choose carefully among the three branches, it is your turn as graduates to choose where you go from here. Good luck." Onabara's choice goes quiet as he walks off the stage.
Nobu looks at Hinata excitedly. "Are you ready for this?"
"Y-yes" she files out of the room along with the other graduates. Nobu grabs hold of her arm and steers her away from the others. "Where a-are we going?" Her voice is soft.
"Just a walk. Today is our last day here, lets enjoy the academy grounds for a while."
"O-okay. Did you f-finish your packing?"
"Not yet, but I'm almost done. Have you?"
"Yes, I finished l-last night."
"You see, that's smart." She smiles at him. "Have you joined a squad yet?"
"S-squad ten. But you p-probably already know that."
"Well they were pretty convincing, they even convinced me, though it wasn't their plan too."
"Do you m-mean?"
"Yep. We'll be squad buddies. And you thought you had gotten rid of me." She laughs at this.
"I-it will be ni-nice knowing at least one person."
"It will. Come on lets get back to the barracks before its too crowded." They go to their respected rooms. Hinata grabs her suitcase from under the bed. She slips her fingers under the clasps and lifts them up.
The suitcase lays open on her bed. Its filled with very little; the yukata Mrs. Yukiru gave her, her clothes from before, a broken wooden sword from early in the year, and a few necessities. She put her hand over a dark blue cloth.
She ties the old leaf village head band around her neck, more as a symbol than anything else. Iida stands up from the bed and slides her fingers over the fabric slowly.
