Chapter 24: Final Event: War Treasure

"AS OUR CONTESTANTS PREPARE FOR THE FINAL EVENT, LET US EXPLAIN THE RULES," Chapati said as giant lacrima screens activated in front of the audience. "MATO, IF YOU PLEASE?"

"Aye, tomato," Mato said.

"Tomato?" Yajima said, looking at the mascot.

"This event will be an all-out, treasure hunting war!" Mato shouted. "There are ten treasure chests hidden in the town, four are traps, two worth two points, three worth three points, and the last one worth five points. Whoever has the highest score wins the Grand Magic Games and will become the number one guild in Fiore, pumpkin!"

"Hang on!" Sam shouted, her face appearing in the screen. "So, even if we have the lowest score, we still win the games?"

"That is correct, pumpkin!"

"Then what were those other events for?" Gray demanded.

"Those? They were just for fun, pumpkin!"

Almost everyone slipped after Mato said that while the rest had a deadpanned expression.

"Also, this is an elimination game, so feel free to knock out the other teams, pumpkin!" Mato added. "You earn one point for every mage you defeat from the opposing team!"

"ANYWAY, IT'S TIME TO START THE FINAL EVENT!"

As he said that, the gong of battle was sound and everyone cheered as the team of mages started moving across the town.

"AS EXPECTED, MOST OF THE TEAMS HAVE WENT OF IN TWOS OR THREES WHILE SABERTOOTH, BEING STRONG ON THEIR OWN, SEPARATE WITHOUT PAIRS…W-WHAT'S THIS?!"

Everyone looked at the screen in shock, so did Rufus. Orga, who was on the street below Rufus, noticed him stopping.

"What's wrong?"

"It's Fairy Tail," Rufus said, looking at the other direction. "They haven't moved yet."

"WHY IS FAIRY TAIL JUST STANDING THERE!?" Chapati shouted, so did the audience.

They looked at the screen and saw Team Fairy Tail standing in front of the fountain, their arms crossed and eyes closed, looking like they were waiting for something.

"What are you guys doing!?" Max shouted.

"Go and start beating people up!" Makarov shouted.

WHILE FAIRY TAIL IS JUST STANDING THERE, THE OTHER TEAMS ARE NOW ATTACKING THE OTHER PARTICIPANTS AND LOOKING FOR THE TREASURE!"

The audience now turned their attention to the other teams. In one screen, Mermaid Heel and Quatro Puppy were fighting.

Arania attacked War Cry with her magic as Beth fired explosive carrots at Yaeger. The two tried to defend themselves, but Risley used her gravity magic to keep them in place. The two got knocked out, giving two points to Mermaid Heel.

Meanwhile, Skulker and Ember went hunting and found one of the treasure chest. After debating whether to open it or not, Skulker grabbed the lid and opened it. Two Points appeared in front of them.

"AND QUATRO PUPPY HAS OPENED THE FIRST TREASURE!"

Meanwhile, Tucker and Ichiya was walking upstairs, using Tucker's Tech Magic to track the treasure chests. When they finally reached the top, they found it.

"Great, now let me see if its booby trapped," Tucker said as he grabbed a PDA. Before he can scan it, Ichiya stopped him.

"There is no need for that, man," Ichiya said dramatically. "I can smell that this is one of the treasure, thanks to my parfume!"

Before Tucker could stop him, Ichiya ran towards the chest and opened it. Before they could react, a giant boxing glove appeared and punched Ichiya towards a wall, knocking him out.

"AND BLUE PEGASUS HAS OPENED THE TRAP CHEST!"

"Aniki…" Tucker said as he looked at the broken form of their strongest team member.

Back on the ground, Hibiki, Eve, and Ren were fighting Rocker and Bacchus.

"Drill Kick!" Rocker shouted as he aimed a kick at Ren, who quickly jumped away. Hibiki used his magic to look for the chest while Eve tried to slow Bacchus down with his Ice Magic.

"You're Ice Magic can't subdue the fire of my wild spirit!" Bacchus shouted.

"Wild!" Rocker shouted.

"Guys!" Hibiki shouted as he saw the treasure chest. "I found the treasure!"

He ran towards the chest as opened it, revealing 3 points.

Before the trio could celebrate, they were pushed back by Bacchus and Rocker, cornering them.

"This is bad," Ren commented to his three teammates. Suddenly, before they could react, Sting flew jumped down from the roof and smashed both Bacchus and Rocker to the ground.

"Guess that's two points for me," Sting said as he looked up, only to see the Trimen gone. "I'll get them later."

In the other part of the city, Valerie was walking towards a treasure chest in the middle of the park. She smirked as she made her way towards it. Suddenly, she jumped to the side as electricity was shot towards her.

"What's cooking good looking?" Tucker said as he smirked at Valerie.

"Get out of my way, loser," Valerie said, glaring at Tucker.

"Sorry, but I need that chest more than you…but maybe we can go and get dinner after this is over. What do you say?"

"I say get lost!" Valerie shouted as her hands started glowing.

Before Tucker could react, Valerie started casting magic circles in front of her.

"Amaterasu: Formula 10!" Valerie shouted.

"Amaterasu!?" Makarov shouted, surprised that someone so young could cast it.

Tucker quickly cast a shield to block the explosion, but it was too strong for it to block. He was blown towards the other part of town, bruised but not beaten.

"Guess that magic of his is tougher than him," Valerie said as she walked towards the chest and kicked it open, revealing 3 points.

Lyon found Beth and Risley from Mermaid Hel and attacked them, trapping them in ice. Earning them two points.

Meanwhile, Sam was walking towards an abandoned building, thinking there was a treasure there. Before she could reach it, she heard someone screaming towards her. She turned and some slammed into her.

When she got her bearings again, she saw a bruised Tucker on her, his face pressed against her developing chest.

In anger, she punched the young mage so hard, he got knocked out, earning one more point for Mermaid Heel.

Arania was suddenly ambushed by Paulina, who was in her Battle Princess Armor. Paulina tried with all her might, but Arania was too strong for her. She lost, giving point to Mermaid Heel.

On the screen, the current scores were shown:

1st- Sabertooth: Five points. Members- Six.

2nd- Mermaid Heel: Three Points. Members- Four.

3rd – Blue Pegasus: Three Points. Members- Four.

4th- Lamia Scale: Two points. Members- Five.

5th—Quatro Puppy: Two points. Members- Two.

6th- Fairy Tail: Zero points. Members- Six.

"SABERTOOTH HAS TAKEN THE LEAD!" Chapati announced. "BUT FAIRYTAIL IS STILL NOT MOVING!"

"What are you brats doing!?" Makarov shouted worriedly. "Go out there and cause some trouble!"

"Everything is alright," Mavis answered, surprising everyone. "It's time to begin the plan."

"First…?" Makarov said, confused.

The First Master stood up, looking serious. She then pointed at the screen showing Team Fairy Tail.

"Begin Fairy Strategy!"

Suddenly, Team Fairy Tail opened their eyes and separated.

"FAIRY TAIL IS FINALLY ON THE MOVE!"

The audience cheered as the team started moving. They watched as Fairy Tail spread around the city, looking like they all know where they were going.

"It is hopeless," Rufus said as he stood on top of a building, smirking. "I have memorized your magic signatures."

They all watched as Rufus prepared to use his magic.

"Memory Make: Into A Night Of Falling Stars!" Rufus shouted as he fired six blasts across the city.

"It's the same move he used on the First Day!" Romeo exclaimed.

"Just as I predicted," Mavis said, surprising everyone.

The audience gasped when they watched as Danny, Gray, Erza, and Gajeel moved to the side to dodge the attack. Laxus just raised his hand to absorb it while Natsu jumped up and ate it.

"Thanks for the food!" Natsu exclaimed.

"W-what!?" Rufus exclaimed, shock that they were able to dodge his attack. "Impossible!"

"FAIRY TAIL DODGED THE ATTACK!" Chapati exclaimed. "AND THEY DID IT WITH LITTLE EFFORT."

Meanwhile, the other Fairy Tail members were looking a Mavis with awe as she kept sending orders to the other members, who started attacking the other team.

"Erza, at the right corner, Jenny of Blue Pegasus will be there," Mavis said, looking at the small magic screens around her.

"There!" Erza shouted as she easily defeated Jenny.

"Why her!?" Jenny shouted in tears.

"Natsu, Skulker is below you, exactly 10'o clock."

"Got you!" Natsu shouted as he kicked Skulker towards the ground, knocking him out.

"Danny, two members of Lamia Scale are near you, as well as a trap treasure chest."

Danny nodded and sneaked around and saw Tobi and Yuuka near the entrance where the fake treasure was placed.

"Spectral Dash!" Danny muttered as his body suddenly became a wisp. He dashed towards the two and pushed them towards the door, surprising them.

"What was that?" Yuuka asked, looking behind them, but seeing nothing.

"Look! A treasure!" Tobi exclaimed, walking towards the chest.

"Tobi, wait!"

Too late; Tobi opened the treasure and the two were suddenly shocked by electricity, knocking them out.

"…Maybe I should have just knocked them out," Danny muttered, forgetting that doing that won't earn them points.

"Laxus, a treasure chest is five steps to your left."

"Found it," Laxus said as he kicked the chest open, earning two points.

"Gajeel, at 2'o clock, the Trimen will be there, but Hibiki will get away.

"Sorry boys!" Gajeeel exclaimed as he appeared out of nowhere and used a roar attack at the two mages, knocking them out.

"How is Fairy Tail doing this?" Hibiki said as he ran towards a corner. "Do they have a mage that can beat even my Archive Magic?"

"We sure do!" Gray said as he grinned evilly at Hibiki, who was surprised to see him.

Before Hibiki could react, Gray froze him, earning another point for Fairy Tail.

"A-AMAZING!" Chapati exclaimed. "FAIRY HAS ALREADY MADE IT TO FIRST PLACE IN ONLY A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME!"

Makarov was looking at the First Master in shock and awe. He almost forgotten about the Fist's special ability. The ability that gave her the name 'Fairy Tactician,' due to her amazing skills to create tactics that could defeat an entire army with little trouble.

But the other teams were done yet.

Sam encountered Ember and started fighting. The two were almost equally match, but Sam's speed and plants were more than enough to defeat Ember, earning them one point.

Unfortunately for her, Chelia found her. With a loud proclamation about love, she defeated the tired Sam with her God Slaying Magic.

Arania was defeated by Lyon, earning another point for Lamia Scale.

"TWO TEAMS HAS ALREADY BEEN ELIMINATED AND THERE ARE STILL TWO MORE TREASURES LEFT!"

"Erza will now find the treasure worth 10 points," Mavis said smugly.

"Six steps forward and behind the statue," Erza said as she spotted the statue. When she looked behind it, she was shock to see the treasure gone.

"What?" Mavis said, shocked to see her calculations wrong.

"Where's the treasure?" Erza exclaimed as she looked around the area.

"Looking for this?" a voice said behind her, causing her to start. She turned and saw Minerva with the treasure under her feet. "Sorry, but you were a little slow."

Minerva kicked the chest open, revealing 5 points. Erza growled and glared at the smirking Minerva. Erza tried to slash at her, but Minerva suddenly disappeared. Suddenly, Erza felt a presence behind her. She quickly turned around and blocked Kagura.

"Erza Scarlet," Kagura said, looking at Erza coldly.

"Kagura," Erza said as the two jumped away from each other.

"IT LOOKS LIKE THE CLASH OF THE TWO STRONGEST SWORDSWOMAN WILL BEGIN!"

"W-w-what?" Mavis said in shock before she started tearing up. "My predictions were w-w-wrong?"

"Wah! First Master, please don't cry!" Makarov shouted as he tried to calm the crying ghost down.

Meanwhile, Danny was dashing through the streets when he spotted Gray near the bridge.

"Gray-san!" Danny shouted, getting Gray's attention. "Did you see that? The First's prediction went wrong!"

"I know," Gray said, looking a bit worried. "What happened?"

Before they could react, they heard two footsteps coming towards them. They looked and saw Lyon and Chelia on the other side of the bridge.

"Fancy meeting you here, Gray," Lyon said with a smirk.

"Lyon," Gray said with the same smirk.

"Danny-kun!" Chelia greeted with an excited wave.

"Chelia-san," Danny said with a nod.

"How are you and Wendy?" Chelia asked. "Did you proclaimed your love for one another?"

"S-s-shut up!" Danny exclaimed, his face red as a tomato.

In the other side of town, Laxus was looking around the part with the fountain on it.

"Laxus?" a surprised voice said behind him. He turned around and saw Natsu behind him.

"What are you two doing here!?" an angry voice said. They turned and saw Gajeel stomping towards them. "I thought that Rogue guy would be here!"

"I thought Orga was supposed to be here too," Laxus said.

"I was looking for that smug Sabertooth bastard," Natsu said angrily, stomping the ground.

"Looks like the First's prediction was wrong again," Gajeel commented. This caused the First to sniffle sadly.

"Well, look what we have here," a voice said. The three Dragon Slayers looked in front of them and their eyes widened.

"Jura…" Laxus said as his shock expression turned to a vicious smirk.

"A real monster appeared," Gajeel said with a large grin.

"Seems like this will be interesting," Jura said as he unleashed his magical pressure.

"…I'm all fired up!" Natsu exclaimed as his body erupted into flames.

"OTHER FIGHTS ARE HAPPENING AROUND THE CITY! BUT WHERE IS SABERTOOTH?" Chapati exclaimed as the audience cheered, looking at the intense confrontation in each screen.

"This will be intense, pumpkin!" Mato cheered.
