Laura sighed as she shut the door behind her she had managed to finish her lit. paper at the last minute somehow turning it in on time. She was so glad Danny told her about that paper in advance because she wouldn't have finished it otherwise. Dropping her stuff on the floor she dragged herself to her computer. She needed to make another video on their progress or lack thereof on their investigation.

She was getting worried they were coming close to the day of the ritual and yet they still didn't have the sword and they were running out of time. Glancing at Carmilla's bed she saw the covers were rumpled and she would probably smooth them out later but her girlfriend was nowhere to be seen. Laura couldn't help smiling. Girlfriend. It might seem childish but she was just so giddy every time she thought about Carmilla being her girlfriend and she was proud to have such an amazing girlfriend. Her life had changed a lot in the months since coming to Silas and she liked it. She was proud, independent, and meeting almost every dead line for her assignments, not counting her lit class. She had friends she could trust, someone who loved her, and she was fighting crime in such a way she knew even Buffy would be proud.

Stretching her tired muscles she shook out her hands to mentally prepare herself to get some more research done. She leaned in checking any and all forms of social media and the ever wonderful google to find any leads but they were all dead ends. Was it really that hard to find information on a millennia old light god that took virgin sacrifices from its vampiric worshipers?

Shaking her head she switched on her web cam and prepared to share some more bad news when a small 'Ding!' caught her attention. A little notification popped up blinking at her urgently. Clicking on it she groaned as it reminded her yet again of the low memory on her computer she needed an external drive like Lafontaine.

Slumping in her seat she went into her webcam's memory to see what old videos she could get rid of when she saw a recent video that took up an awful lot of memory. Checking the date she frowned. Wednesday? She didn't remember making a video on Wednesday but apparently she did a lot of recording. it was possible she forgot to turn it off or left it running.

Clicking on it she leaned back and watched the video with interest slowly her curiosity turned to horror as she watched Carmilla and eventually Evelyn tremble at the presence of the Dean. She felt so violated to have that-that THING take over her body for even a moment and yet there was nothing either Vampire could do out of fear that the Dean might hurt her. Laura watched the scene unfold as the Dean taunted the sisters smirking at their fear and at the fact that they couldn't stop her even if they wanted to.

Laura had to sit there and watch as the Dean used her voice and her body to torment Carmilla running her hands over their things smirking at every second that ticked by with Carmilla completely helpless and the smug look on her face made her sick. The Dean had played them all and they were helpless to stop her she had made this plan well in advance and now who knows what she was capable of.

What made it worse was Carmilla just gave up after all the hard work of investigating and putting themselves in danger she was willing to just give up. The defiant brunette never looked so defeated in that moment her shoulders slumped and her head bowed. The Dean never looked happier to have outsmarted her eldest while Evelyn trembled glancing from the Dean to her sister trapped in the middle. The blonde stuttered throughout the entire thing barely forming a full sentence till she revealed that Will, the mama's boy was dead. Everything made sense now. Evelyn had fought him to get Lafontaine back but the only way Will would ever let them go and not report to Mother was if he was dead. Her heart ached for the blonde she was such a sweet girl and fragile from what Carmilla had told her and for this to happen, Evelyn must have been devastated.

Swallowing she watched as the Dean took off the necklace and fainted Carmilla was quick to catch her while Evelyn snatched the necklace. The blonde stuffed it in her pocket before turning her attention to her sister and Laura. Carmilla had laid her on the bed gently stroking her face with her back to the camera it was impossible to see how she was faring but judging by the look of sorrow from Evelyn it wasn't good.

"Sister…"

"We just can't win can we?" Carmilla muttered as she held Laura's face.

"Sister we can still go ahead with the plan I can-"

"No"

"Sister?" Evelyn frowned in confusion.

"Look Mother's not playing around anymore, she knows what we're doing so just… forget the plan and keep Danny occupied till this all blows over"

Evelyn stared at her sister her mouth opened and closed in shock.

"But what about Laura? What's she gonna say when you-"

"She's not gonna find out ok? And neither are the others, this stays between us" Carmilla glared at the ground her face was finally visible and the disappointment in her eyes made Laura's stomach drop.

Evelyn slowly shook her head.

"Sister I-i can't lie to Danny or Laura not about something so-"

"Just keep it to yourself Evelyn! Is that too much to ask!" Carmilla glared at her sister making the blonde flinch.

"Just look out for your human Evie and I'll look out for mine"

Laura fell back in her chair shocked and numb. She couldn't quiet process what she just saw but her stomach twisted in knots. She never felt so violated in her life. The Dean had used her like a puppet and now Carmilla, her girlfriend, had lied to her not only about what happened with Evelyn but about the migraines, the reason she felt uncomfortable in her own skin, it was because the Dean had entered her mind, using her in the worst way just to torture Carmilla. That bitch made her feel sick she wanted to throw things, scream, and tell her off once and for all!

Laura was about to call her girlfriend and demand an explanation when something at the end of the video caught her eye.

Sitting back down she quickly replayed the last few seconds she noticed the way Evelyn acted at the end. The blonde looked horrified by her sister's willingness to throw it all away but when she was about to leave she looked at the camera realizing the whole thing had been caught on camera. Instead of telling Carmilla so the evidence of her betrayal could be destroyed she glanced from Carmilla to the camera and mouthed something before flitting out of the room.

Rewinding it again Laura watched the blonde's lips with rapid attention still she couldn't understand the message. Changing the speed again she watched the video her eyes never leaving Evelyn. She changed the speed at least three times and little by little she caught it.

I will help you Laura

Evelyn had said she couldn't do something, she couldn't take the deal, she couldn't lie, whatever it was she couldn't do it but she was willing to help Laura and that's what mattered. Laura needed to talk with the blonde. She should probably call Perry and get her help. The ginger would be the best one to help her approach the blonde if she was so downtrodden. Perry was always good with Evelyn and Carmilla for that matter always making sure to keep the cookies stocked, getting them to talk or forcing them to in Carmilla's case, but Perry did her best to keep them both from retreating into their shells again and it made all the difference. Grabbing her phone Laura took a deep breath this was probably going to be the hardest decision of her life but she had to do it.

"Hey Perry"

"Oh hi Laura"

"Perry I need your help"

"Um with what?"

"I need your help with Evelyn, I need to talk to her about something but I don't think I can just barge in" Laura nibbled on her lip trying to think of a way to approach the blonde without causing her to panic and her usual head on approach wouldn't help here.

Perry was silent on her end making Laura frown.

"Uh Perry?"

"I'm still here Laura but I-uh I think you should maybe leave her alone for a while"

"Perry please come with me? I need to make sure of something, please"

Perry sighed on the other end she was ready to burst with her own new information but it would be best to talk with Evelyn not only for the truth but to check on the blonde because Perry was worried. The sisters had a strong relationship but something like this could damage it beyond repair.

"How about I have her come over so you can both talk here without being interrupted?" it was the best plan Perry could come up with in fear that Carmilla might find out, the brunette was still conflicted and had yet to make a decision.

"That sounds good I'll be right over"

Hanging up Laura gave the video one last look before exiting everything and shutting it down with a heavy sigh. She didn't know how this would turn out but she wanted answers and till she had more information she couldn't confront Carmilla.

Leaving the comfort of her dorm she headed to Perry and Lafontaine's place anxious to know how much of what was said was true. It didn't matter that she had watched it she couldn't believe that Carmilla, her girlfriend, would give up so easily it wasn't like her and Laura just couldn't believe it. Shaking her head she knocked remembering Carmilla's constant complaints of how people didn't seem to have manners anymore.

The door swung open and a nervous Perry beckoned her inside quickly closing it once she was inside. Laura was unsurprised to see the dorm was spotless the room had that generic lemon scent that came with most of Perry's cleaning products and the delicious lingering smell of the brownies she had shared with them the day before.

"I'll text her just try not to jump her before she gets in the room ok?" Perry wasn't stable enough to handle two crying girls because there was no way there wouldn't be tears after this.

"Yeah, of course" Laura answered absentmindedly still trying to understand what had happened in that video and how she hadn't realized it sooner.

Perry sent a quick text to Evelyn glancing from her phone to Laura as the journalist began to pace on her freshly swept floors. The anxiety and tension would only grow from there and be unbearable once Evelyn got there. Frowning Perry sent another text practically begging Evelyn to get here without alerting the others they didn't need their significant others going into over protective mode because a raging vampire, deadly huntress, and a pissed off scientist would only lead to trouble and an explosive list of property damages.

Perry watched Laura make about twelve laps from the desk to the door before a gentle knock broke the tension. Laura bit her nails trying to keep herself from throwing the door open but Perry, ever the gracious host, was quick to answer the door. Opening the door Perry was relieved to find the blonde on the other side. She was getting paranoid that at any moment Lafontaine or Carmilla might bust in and the whole thing would be a mess, one that she couldn't fix. Evelyn looked tired and if the dark rings under her eyes were any indication she hadn't slept during the day like she was supposed to. The blonde stepped in wincing at the harsh smell of the various polishes and cleaning products Perry used in her stress cleaning.

"Hey Evelyn"

"Hey" the blonde didn't smile she could feel the anxiety in the air and it made her uneasy.

The awkward silence made Laura restless she wanted to jump into her interrogation but she needed to keep her head and ease into this.

Perry sighed this was going to be hard.

"So how's Danny?"

Evelyn blinked surprised, not by the question but the way Perry just blurted it out.

"She's good, a little swamped with TA work but she's on top of it"

"Good" Perry smiled tightly but Evelyn wasn't paying attention her eyes focused solely on Laura as the brunette fidgeted trying to keep herself from bursting.

"Laura is there something you want to ask me?" Evelyn wasn't going to let the brunette suffer any longer she couldn't stand the figditing, the nervous glances, and the racing heart that pounded in her ears. She was surprised Laura's self-restraint had lasted this long.

Taking a deep breath Laura finally got it off her chest.

"Did she really lie to me? To the others?"

Evelyn sighed there was no point in lying she swore to herself she wouldn't betray their trust like that, not like her sister had.

"Yes"

Laura felt her legs give out luckily she fell on the bed. Her head fell into her hands she could feel her eyes starting to water. How could Carmilla lie about so much? About her possession, the Dean's deal, Will's death, all of it!

"Laura" Evelyn knelt before the brunette resting her hands on the girl's knees.

"Laura please listen-"

"She lied Evelyn, I had migraines for hours and I felt so violated, I still feel violated!"

"Laura in her mind there was too much at stake she-"

"BUT SHE LIED!" Laura snapped her hands bawled up into aching fists, her chest heaved as her blood boiled because it all came down to one thing: Carmilla had lied to her face. The girl she loved had been lying to her, making her think that this entire thing would turn out fine when really they could die at any moment.

"Laura..."

"There isn't anything else to say Evelyn she lied and after being-being possessed like that?" Laura swallowed hard trying to keep the bile down. She felt like the Dean was still under her skin just waiting to crawl out whenever she wanted and it made her feel weak, used.

"Laura…"

Evelyn cupped her chin forcing her to meet the blondes gaze only for her heart to clench at the sorrow. Evelyn might be helping them but she had been there. She was just as helpless as Carmilla if not more so after killing Will.

"You have to understand Laura, a vampire's instincts change after they've marked their mate"

"What?!"

Wincing Evelyn knew she'd given away too much but it was the only way explain it without getting into too much trouble.

"Laura my sister has loved only a handful of people in her life and all of them but two are dead now, though I'm technically not alive I can't die by normal means… but you can"

"When everyone around you dies a vampire will do what they can to keep their loved ones alive and the first step is keeping other supernatural beings away, that bite mark on your neck will keep weaker supernatural's away and warn the stronger ones that you have a vampire on your side"

"But she only bit me so she could chase after Will"

"yes because he was trouble and she would do anything to keep you safe"

"What about the bracelet? That was supposed to keep me safe and that was the biggest fail ever!"

Rolling her eyes Evelyn sat beside the aggravated girl. It was so hard to get through to people and emotional ones were the hardest.

"Will didn't care about the bracelet and neither does mother but again it was before the marking but both will keep vampires of dark intent away though it would help if you actually wore it"

Laura grimaced it wasn't that she didn't like it- ok that was the biggest lie ever but it was just so weird looking and she couldn't hide it under her sleeve all the time.

"The next time you're in your room wear it and don't take it off again, even if my sister is with you"

"Fine" Laura grumbled fully intent on letting her displeasure be known when a thought struck her.

"Wait what about Danny?"

Evelyn frowned "what about her?"

"If I have the bracelet and a mark or whatever aren't you going to do the same?"

"First off, she doesn't go looking for trouble like you do and secondly we already took care of that" Evelyn pulled her collar to the side revealing the bite mark. It could have healed by now but it was permeant now and those indentions would last till death and she wasn't going to let that happen anytime soon.

"Whoa" Perry bit her lip worried green eyes took in every detail of the mark.

"Is that ok? I mean you vampires seem to be made of sturdy stuff but…"

"Don't worry Perry it was an equal claiming so Danny's is just as…visible as mine" Evelyn smirked for the first time and they couldn't help chuckling.

"Equal claiming?" Laura was curious now.

"Yes we both did it, the uh bite, why?"

"It's just weird usually the vampires are super dominant or that's how Carm is"

"Like I said it was an equal claiming some vampires want to be the dominant and some want to be the submissive"

"Wait equal claiming? Dominant and submissive?" Perry was getting curious about all this vampire terminology it was obviously Lafontaine's influence.

"Yeah um why don't we get comfortable, I feel like I have a lot of explaining to do"

Sharing a look Perry and Laura got comfortable on the bed while Evelyn tried to think of a way to tell them everything…without telling them everything. This kind of thing was usually done between the vampire and their mark as a way to establish the rules and give them the list of who to avoid but with her sister still stuck in her head there was no way she could do it.

"So equal claiming?" Laura wanted to get it all now while Evelyn was still willing there was no telling when the blonde might clam up again.

"Ok so when a pair or vampire and mark, are going to be claimed or recognized as claimed the vampire is generally the one who decides the nature of the relationship so they can be friends or lovers but again that's the more dominant vampires, the submissive will give their partner full control of the relationship but there are few who are willing to give anyone that much control over themselves, Vampires are naturally dominant creatures so this is usually an oddity even in the supernatural community" Evelyn watched their faces she had no clue how they would react to this new information but she would do her best to soothe any worries they had.

"When a vampire wants it to be an equal claiming it usually means that they are a bit in-between they can be very dominant but also submissive at times or submissive and sometimes dominant, understand?"

"Yeah its all the vampires choice" Laura grumbled rubbing her mark. She felt jiped that Carmilla hadn't told her more about the mark and cheated because she wanted to do the whole 'equal claiming' now that she knew about it.

"No its instinctual" Evelyn protested "some vampires fight their instincts because they don't understand them and feel… wrong like I did, others accept them without problem because they know that they'll help them survive and when we give that mark to someone it's because instinctually we know we can't live without them, we must keep them safe, happy, and alive by any means possible and if that means marking them then we'll do it"

Laura was speechless. Carmilla couldn't live without her. She was overjoyed and terrified at the same time.

"Laura?"

Snapping up she found a worried Perry.

"I'm fine Perry, Evelyn please tell us more"

"I don't know if I should…"

"but you told Danny?"

"That's because she's mine and I should be the one to tell her these things but something tells me this isn't the real reason you wanted to talk to me"

Laura swallowed turning away from those piercing blue eyes.

"If you're asking about my sister's secrecy then you know about everything that happened and now you know why she didn't tell you"

"Wait what happened?" Perry knew of course but she didn't know what would happen if Evelyn knew she'd heard her heart felt plea to Carmilla.

Laura shivered hugging herself to fight off the disgust she felt at the mere thought of that-that…experience. Perry noticed the sudden change immediately her commanding gaze shifted from Laura to Evelyn. The blonde wanted to hug her sister's mate so much just to offer her some form of comfort but she knew Laura wouldn't accept it she was too close to the problem or the experience.

"Evelyn what happened?"

"As you know after I saved Lafontaine I hid away to…pull myself together but while we we're all recovering Mother wasn't idle she had planned something in advance and had.. had Will carry out her orders so by the time I finally got around to checking up on things it was too late" Evelyn felt that crushing guilt burst through her veins it was a lot like bleeding glass, every piece of it cut away at your insides and there was nothing you could do to stop it.

"Mother had already gotten what she wanted and by the time I got to my sister to warn her it was too late and Laura was…possessed"

"What do you mean Possessed?" Perry's voice changed from her usually high caring tone to a deeper, more commanding one. She really didn't like where this was going.

"Mother had me collect several artifacts in my life time and two of them were made of Peitho's essence, a Greek and roman goddess of great power in persuasion and deception, together the necklaces make a person easy to manipulate but with a book of ancient spells and rituals Mother was able to possess Laura"

Evelyn bit her lip and squeezed her eyes shut she didn't like talking about this Mother was still lurking in the back of her mind and Laura had been violated in the worst way. Mother's evil knew no bounds and because of that they would all suffer if they didn't stop her.

"Possessed? As in exorcist possessed?" Perry was having a hard time not freaking out here.

"Yes, but she had all the strength and speed of my Mother, again she used a book of rituals so she could of taken over Laura completely but that wasn't her intention"

Laura swallowed hard and her chest ached at the mere thought of the Dean keeping her a puppet for good. She hadn't even really started living yet and with one more spell the Dean could have ended it all.

"Laura"

She realized her face was cold flinching she came back. Evelyn was cradling her face her pale blue eyes filled with worry and fear Perry was beside her with an arm around the tiny journalist her own emerald orbs burned with worry.

"Laura she can't do it again I made sure to have the necklace hidden away so she can't use it"

"But what about Carmilla?"

It was Evelyn's turn to swallow her sister was an undecided topic. She wanted to give her time to think but that was the one thing they didn't have.

"I spoke with sister and when she has decided, we will know"

Laura shook her head, her eyes wide with disbelief.

"That's it? Your just gonna let her think?"

"Laura there is very little you can make my sister do and it is best to let her think because this isn't a simple decision Mother has taken love from my sister before and she's never let her forget it so when it comes to you, she is going to think and plan every precaution nessacary and unnecessary to keep you alive so yes I am going to let her think while we plan because that is all we can do till she makes her choice" Evelyn's blue eyes bored into her almost looking into her soul she had never seen the blonde so serious it was just like when Perry blew up at them about their need for danger and the supernatural it was a side of her that only came out when needed and now seriousness was definitely needed.

"Laura I understand that waiting is going to be impossible for you, really I do but you must give her time while we still have it because there is only so much we can do"

Taking a deep breath Laura closed her eyes trying to calm herself. Evelyn's cold hands didn't leave her face and it was oddly comforting it reminded her of Carmilla and how she would stroke her face and run her hands through her hair till she fell asleep. Carmilla. She couldn't help thinking of her girlfriend she wanted nothing more than to run to her arms and tell her everything but at the same time she wanted to give her space. Evelyn had meant what she said about space and Laura would do that but she also wanted to be there for Carmilla even if it was hard. It was just another part of being in a relationship, when things get hard you can come together or fall apart and she would do everything she could to keep it together.

"So what uh what can we do?" Perry's voice shattered the tension relieving both of them.

"Well.." Evelyn let go of Laura and leaned back against the wall

"I already told Danny to keep her sisters at the ready so we have them and I'm sure you guys can convince the ZETA'S to help out because we have no clue what mother might do and we could use all the help we can get"

"Ok I'll talk to Kirsch and maybe Lafontaine can get the Alchemy club to help?" Laura turned to Perry biting her lip.

"Yes I-i'm sure that Lafontaine could build something on their own if they had to but the alchemy club is always happy to blow up a few things" Perry nodded to herself already thinking of ways to help Lafontaine. The Alchemy club usually butted heads with Lafontaine's Mad scientist league but the two could probably put their differences aside if it meant getting to witness and destroy an evil light god.

"Then that's all we need" Evelyn closed her eyes and let her head fall back against the wall she was exhausted emotionally and it was hard to keep calm when the humans in front of her were setting off her protective instincts. She didn't blame them for their panic, if anything she was amazed they hadn't had a mental breakdown by now.

Usually the stress of being around so many supernaturals was bad for humans since they were so oblivious to the things going on around them. Luckily the humans that walked the grounds of Silas had to pass not only educational tests but "cognitive and emotional" tests as well where their mental stability was checked and it was usually the part of the test that supernatural's passed with little effort having lived in the supernatural world since birth.

There were some humans who were sensitive to the supernatural or were "adopted" into their world but they were special cases. Now that she thought about it she should have brought the girls some of the pamphlets from the Human/ Supernatural Alliance (HSA) and maybe tell them about some of the Human support groups around campus. The human psyche was delicate but they were dealing with it pretty well so far maybe they wouldn't need it.

"Look we have plans, we have help and I really just…I can't keep thinking about this so can we just take a breather?" Evelyn was done with today, she was done with this month forget it she was done with this year she wanted to sleep with Danny's arms wrapped around her but that wouldn't happen for a few hours even then with how things were going they might not get the chance.

Perry glanced from Evelyn to Laura both girls had been through the wringer and she couldn't help feeling the need to help in some way.

"why don't we binge watch some Netflix, get stuffed on junk food, and just mind melt?"

Evelyn and Laura shared a look they didn't have a problem and didn't really want to think about the next few days so that would be a-

"yes" they said in unison.

Perry smiled sliding off the bed she grabbed Lafontaine's laptop and handed it to Laura.

"Pick a Tv series while I make some popcorn"

"sure thing"

The pair got situated on the bed kicking off their shoes and pushing back the covers. They were gonna be there till tomorrow so they thought it best to get comfortable. Perry watched the pair out of the corner of her eye smiling as they scrolled through their options it might not be much but she would give them both a moment to be normal college girls even if only for a while.

So that was ch25 I know it was more of an informative/ filler chapter but sometimes I read things and I question the things behind them like why does an animal or instinct driven being bit their mate? what does that really do? so I figure why not write in an explanation you know? anyway things will start picking up but one more chapter then everything starts going down so enjoy the coasting cause soon were gonna stomp on the gas.
