Laxus POV
I waited with my boys and their Exceeds, Orga Nanagear, and Rufus Lohr. I know I shouldn't be surprised to see strong wizards here, but I think the need for so many was surprising. Sting had his head in his hands and rogue was leaning against the inside wall of the airship that docked here a few minutes ago. I could feel the tension in the air.
"It's nice to finally meet you, Dreyar-sama. Lucy-sama took me in at the age fourteen, found me in the streets half-dead and bloody." Rufus bowed and smiled at me sadly. "She's impacted the guild tremendously, both Fairy Tail and Sabertooth. Her word has just as much command as Master Jiemma at the guild. It's almost as though she's the mother of our guild, the softer side to it. Ah, my apologies. I'm sure you don't want to hear about Lucy-sama right now." He squirmed under my glare.
"Okāsan was and still is loyal to you Old Man, stop pouting. We have more dangerous things to worry about." Sting snapped. "It's bad enough we're here, getting pissy isn't going to make it any better."
I growled at him to shut up. He shot me a glare before getting up and moving down a hallway to the bathrooms. The door opened and revealed Rune Knights surrounding two people, two scents I recognized immediately.
"Lucy! Wendy!"
The knights parted allowing Lucy and Wendy to come running over. Lucy jump into my arms and I twirled her around. Even though she aged seven years she's just as beautiful, if not more than she was seven years ago. I smelt Freed, Bixlow, and Evergreen nearby. Lucy looked up at me with tears brimming in her eyes. She took a step back and raised her hand.
She brought her hand across my cheek, backhanding me. In shock, I took a step back. "What was that for?!"
"You idiot! Baka! Baka! Baka! Baka! Baka! Baka! Baka! Baka!" She hit me on the head multiple times. "Baka! Baka! Baka! You should know better than to be here! And you, Sting! You weren't drafted! Why the hell would you enlist!? I can't protect you all! I'm not going to let you all die either. I need to know you can still handle yourselves! Laxus, seven years has past. Meaning, your magic levels are still the same as they were seven years ago. Though, maybe Jellal knows something to fix that. Ultear could open your second origin…" She rubbed her chin as she thought out loud. She nodded to herself and flipped through her key ring, which had 13 gold keys and 12 silver keys. She pulled out a silver key that had a strange symbol etched into it and held it in front of her. "Open! Gate of the Phoenix! Phoebe!"
A large bird appeared in front of us. Its wings were on fire and seemed to hold a golden light around it. I felt my throbbing head cease in its tirade of pain. I blinked and tried to remember what I knew of the phoenix constellation. It's a healer, and despite contrary belief, it does use a form of sky magic. It uses fire as it's form of attack. That's all I could come up with. I looked to Lucy who was snapping at Rogue and Sting for fighting or something. The bird waddled over to me and rubbed itself against my leg, it's flames not burning my pants at all. I smiled and patted its head.
"Hey there…" I knelt down to its level.
"Hello, Master Laxus. I'm here to open your second origin, please stay still. This won't hurt." A soft female voice came from the bird. She, I gathered, stared at me intensely. I felt my chest begin to burn and ache at the same time. It went on like this for a few minutes, until I finally dropped to my knees. I felt my magic capacity double in size. I stared at my hands as the bird moved on to everyone else. Lucy came up to me and knelt in front of me.
She gave me that beautiful smile of hers. "How do you feel, La-Chan?"
I laid both my hands on her shoulders and pulled her into a bone crushing hug. "Arigato, Luce." She returned my hug after a second or two. I nuzzled into her neck, breathing in her scent. It hadn't changed at all. It was still strawberries and vanilla. I squeezed her tighter.
"Eep!" Lucy squealed as I held her tighter. I never wanted to let go of her. I didn't care if this made me look like a pansy. Lucy was my weakness. If anything were to happen to her, I'd rip the world apart to find a way to bring her back.
"Dreyar-dono!" I looked up and saw a man I haven't seen since I was a child.
"Jura-sama." I breathed. "What are you doing here?"
He laughed. "I'm a Wizard Saint, Laxus. I was drafted." He gave another hearty laugh before continuing. "Welcome back. It great to see you alive"
"Thank you, Jura-sama. It's great to be back. Though I missed seven years, I feel stronger than ever. Thanks to her." I nipped at her neck, which made her squeal and blush a deep red.
Jura laughed. "Ah, I see. I haven't seen Lucy-dono this happy since Rogue and Sting first entered the Games."
"Games?" I asked.
"The Grand Magic Games. It's a competition for all guilds. Typically, around 116 enter every year, but only 8 make it to the final seven days. Fairy Tail has only been 1 of the 8 guild teams to make it in once. It's difficult because it's different every year. Lamia Scale came in second every year. Laxus, once this is over. I want to participate and I want to win. Our guild has been humiliated these past seven years. I want the kingdom to know Fairy Tail is not a force to be reckoned with." Lucy explained with determination glinting in her eyes. "We cannot die in this war, Laxus. We must prevail!"
I smirked at her. I could now see why she was voted to be guild master. "Of course we'll win. We're Fairy Tail. We don't give up without a fight, right?
"They know Fairy Tail is strong, they have you as a guild master, and you're the only ally to Sabertooth." Rufus pointed out. "Besides, we beat up anyone who dared to say anything bad about Fairy Tail. You're our sister guild after all. We protect each other."
Sting, Rogue, and Orga nodded in agreement. Sting crossed his arms and smirked at us. "You'll just have to figure out a way to beat us first. Though we're no longer allies inside the arena. It'll be Fairies versus Tigers."
"Right. Of course, Stingy Bee." She giggled, causing Sting to blush from humiliation.
"Okāsan!" He roared.
"Aw. Did I anger you, Stingy Bee?" She teased.
Sting chased her around the airship as her spirit finished opening everyone's second origin. Once Phoebe finished, she disappeared after bowing politely to me and Lucy. Sting eventually got tired and passed out. Freed caught me up to date on everything he knew so far, including the fact that Lucy was a Wizard Saint. That didn't surprise me one bit. She was worthy of such a title. She walked over to us, swaying her hips with every stride. I took her into my arms and kissed the top of her head. Evergreen was glaring at Lucy the entire ride to Crocus.
The friendly aura in the air was swiftly broken by the voice of one man who I scowled at. "Line up! We're arriving in five." Doranbolt shouted. "You will be in Crocus for 24 hours before you are split into units and shipped out to the borders. Understood?"
"Sir!" We shouted. I held Lucy closer to me. I had a horrible feeling about this. And the thing that scared me the most was that my feelings were never that far off their mark…
