Chapter 24- Here comes the sun.

The stare seemed endless between Wendy's lifeless emerald eyes and Dipper's weeping brown eyes, everything seemed to be moving in slow motion, Wolfe and Pacifica were struggling to stand, Bill still stunned lying up against the wall of lab and Tambry was unconscious still tied to the chair. Unbeknown to the battle weary group they had an audience, a confused, terrified and grieving one "Dipper?" Wendy asked with a shaky voice, she was standing above Dipper and her own lifeless body. Wendy crouched down and went to put her hand on Dipper's shoulder and it phased through, she snapped her hand back in shock and whispered "No."

"Wendy, you can't do this." Dipper cried.

"I'm sorry, I had to, it was the only way to stop Tamara." Wendy wept, her words falling on deaf ears.

Dipper couldn't hear his love's words, he was trembling as he started to give Wendy's body chest compressions trying to reignite her life. "Don't do this." Dipper pleaded as he pumped Wendy's heart.

"Dipper." Wendy said, her bottom lip quivering as tears ran down her cheeks. As she gazed at the heart breaking scene a sound reached her ears, a gentle humming tune was coming from behind her, a tune that brought warmth and comfort to her troubled mind, the tune was 'Here comes the sun' by the Beatles. Wendy turned around knowing who was humming the tune, knowing that she would be relieved once she saw the person, Wendy laid her eyes upon Bernie Corduroy dressed in a flowing white dress "Hey sweetheart." Bernie gave a sad smile.

"Mom." Wendy whimpered.

"You silly girl." Bernie said opening her arms.

"Mommy." Wendy cried as she ran into her mother's arms.

Bernie wrapped her arms around her tormented daughter and soothed "You never grew out of calling me that."

Wendy was holding on to her Mother as tight as she could "It hurt so much." Wendy revealed, her voice shaky.

"Death is never easy" Bernie replied stroking Wendy's hair trying to calm her down.

"I'm so sorry Mom," Wendy wept pulling back and looking Bernie square in the eye "you wanted me to stay out of danger until I was grown up but I ended up getting myself killed."

"No I'm proud of you," Bernie responded "you were so brave and you destroyed the Sang Collier."

"You know I'm not from this universe, right? That I came through the Mirror Circle?" Wendy asked, her eyes stinging from the tears.

"I know," Bernie softly smiled "but you're still my daughter."

"I'm going to miss him," Wendy said looking at Dipper trying to resuscitate her dead body "I only got to spend a lit-ARGH!" Wendy felt a sudden pain in her chest, she put her hand to the source of the pain and asked through gritted teeth "What was that?"

"Your body, it's trying to pull you back." Bernie explained.

"Wendy!" Wolfe hollered as she spotted Dipper giving Wendy CPR.

"No, no, no." Pacifica yammered as she made her way over to Wendy's body.

"Come on Wendy, come back!" Dipper forced out before breathing into Wendy's mouth.

"D-Dipper." Wendy breathed clutching her chest in pain.

"Wendy you have to fight the pain," Bernie encouraged "you have to get back into your body."

"What?" Wendy questioned.

"You have to go, you have to live." Bernie said guiding Wendy back over to her body "Either you give in to the pain and give up you will come with me into the afterlife, but if you endure you can return to Dipper."

Dipper started the chest compressions to Wendy's body again saying "Wendy, don't leave me."

Each pump of her heart sent a surge of agony through Wendy's soul "Ahhh!" Wendy yelled.

"Fight!" Bernie shouted.

"I can't do it!" Wendy screamed falling to her knees staring at her own dead eyes.

"Yes you can! You're strong, fight for your life." Bernie rallied.

"It hurts!" Wendy wailed.

"Wendy focus on Dipper, you two have a wonderful future ahead of you, return to him!" Bernie shouted once more.

Wendy looked at Dipper, at his grieving yet determined face, there was love in those eyes and there was no way she was going to lose it "Dipper." Wendy breathed fighting the searing pain.

"That's it sweetheart." Bernie smiled.

Wendy's soul started to feel heavy and sleepy "What?" Wendy sounded.

"You're going back." Bernie clarified.

"Mommy…" Wendy sniffed.

"It's ok, just know that I love you, the other you, your brothers and your Dad and I'll always be watching over you guys." Bernie smiled, tears steadily streaming down her pale freckled cheeks.

"What I said…at your grave, did you…" Wendy struggled, she was feeling sleepy.

"I heard every word, I love you." Bernie answered, the image of her starting to go blurry.

"I love you to M…" Wendy started before her vision went a stark white.

Wendy's body coughed and breathed in vital air as she returned to life "Wendy!" Dipper exclaimed, still crying.

"Dip…" Wendy wheezed trying to sit up.

"Don't strain yourself! Just lay down." Dipper panicked, overjoyed on the inside.

"We thought you were dead." Wolfe sniffed wiping away her tears.

"I w-was." Wendy coughed.

"Don't joke like that." Pacifica sobbed.

"Who say's I'm joking?" Wendy asked with a weak smile.

"Oh my god! What happened?" A voice shouted from the other end of the lab, the four turned to see Mabel, Mike, Marie and Tyrone racing over to them "What the heck happened?" Mabel asked concerned by the semi conscious Wendy lying on the floor.

"Oh nothing much, just died." Wendy joked through a weak grin.

"What!?" Marie yelled.

"She sacrificed herself to destroy the Sang Collier." Pacifica explained, finally calming down.

"It's gone? It's finally over?" Mike asked with hope.

"It's over." Dipper answered unable to cease his tears.

"We tied up McGucket and Baker, the police were coming up the drive as we came down here." Tyrone told, still holding the bloody Izanami katana.

"Marie, come here." Wendy invited.

Marie knelt down quickly and asked "Are you sure you're ok?"

"I saw Mom." Wendy said, tears coming to her eyes.

"What?" Marie muttered in disbelief.

"She helped me come back." Wendy explained, feeling a little stronger she decided to sit up.

"Mom, she sent you home." Marie smiled, starting to well up.

"She said she loves us." Wendy cried happily hugging her doppelganger.

"Wendy?" A voice asked, the group looked to their left for the source of the voice a haggard Tambry was still strapped to the chair "Did you stop her?" Tambry asked in a weak voice

"We stopped Tamara," Wolfe answered getting up and removing the leather straps that bound Tambry "the Sang Collier is gone. You're safe."

"Who's Tamara?" Mike asked helping Tambry to her feet.

"Long story bro." Pacifica answered.

"Wait where's Bill?" Mabel asked looking around.

Wolfe looked back to where Bill's body had been slumped to find the space empty "He's gone! Damn it!" she cursed.

"He'll be back, he always comes back." Dipper replied before focusing on Wendy and hugging her, making sure not to squeeze her tender body too hard.

The sounds of shouting and heavy footsteps approaching from the lab stairwell caused Marie to say "Everyone drop your weapons."

The LPC members complied and placed their weapons on the floor seconds before Sheriff Blubs and half a dozen other officers rushed into the lab. Blubs laid eyes on the group of adolescents and gave a small look of relief before bellowing "Ok city boy, you owe me an explanation."

000

It took a lot of explaining, about four hours of explaining to the dubious Sherriff Blubs before he began to believe the extraordinary tale of parallel earths, past lives, dream demons and ancient artefacts. Blubs said that none of this could go on record and everyone agreed that the Dipper, Mabel, Mike and Wendy should go back through the mirror circle before the big wigs from the CIA came to investigate McGucket's illegal activities. Tambry had been sent to hospital to recover from her ordeal and Blubs had pulled some strings so she would be in the room next to Thompson, who was elated to see his love safe and sound. On the other side of the hospital, under police guard was Baker, who was awaiting an operation to make her new hand stump ready for a prosthetic and the FBI to arrest her on charges of kidnapping, attempted murder and multiple other charges. Fiddleford McGucket was in a cell at the Sherriff Department, he had remained still and silent ever since his arrest and it was creeping the cops out.

And now the mentally and physically exhausted members of the Library Preservation Club were in the creepy arcade basement, back where it all began, the Mirror Circle. Dipper, Mabel, Wendy and Mike were standing beside the massive white framed mirror that brought them to this dimension. "I guess this is it." Dipper said feeling awkward.

"I guess it is." Tyrone replied equally awkward.

"Hey don't look so sad, we saved Tambry, Mike and the whole of Gravity Falls!" Mabel celebrated.

"Mabel's right." Wolfe smiled, agreeing with her double.

"But we didn't solve the time soup mystery." Marie pointed out.

"Then we'll solve it, we're the LPC after all, and you're our leader." Tyrone answered his tall girlfriend.

"What? Dipper's the leader." Marie replied in her usual jittery manner.

"On my earth, this earth needs a new LPC leader and I couldn't think of anyone better." Dipper encouraged.

"Really?" Marie asked, unconvinced.

"Yeah, you kick ass." Wendy smiled.

"I hate goodbyes." Pacifica said teary eyed running to Mike and hugging him.

"Hey, it's okay kiddo." Mike hugged back.

"I only just got my big bro back and now…" Pacifica couldn't finish her sentence, it just turned into sobs.

"Don't worry, I'm alive and I'm going to be happy in the other dimension, at least they don't think I'm dead." Mike soothed hugging tightly onto his 'little sister'.

"I'll keep an eye on him, Pacifica." Mabel reassured.

"And I know Wolfe will take of you." Mike smiled.

"Don't you worry, I will." Wolfe smiled before hugging her doppelganger "I'm going to miss you."

"I'll miss you to." Mabel said happily.

"You keep on being yourself, because you're great just the way you are." Wolfe said sincerely still hugging Mabel.

"Remember what I taught you, freak and proud." Mabel grinned.

"Freak and proud." Wolfe replied pulling back from the hug and high fiving her double.

"Tyrone, you keep an eye on everyone you hear, any trouble comes just use Izanami." Dipper said with a fist bump to his double.

"Roger that, same to you dude." Tyrone smiled.

"Marie, I'm really going to miss you." Wendy said with a sad look in her eyes.

"Don't look at me like that, I'll start crying." Marie replied trying to reign in her tears…and failing "I'm going to miss you so much."

"Come here." Wendy sobbed hugging the other her.

The white framed mirror beside the group started to glow causing Dipper to say "It's time."

Wendy broke from the hug with Marie wiped away her tears and said "Ok."

"Goodbye." Mike smiled at everyone making the first step towards the mirror and walked through it, the glass rippling like water as he passed through.

"We'll try and send a postcard." Mabel beamed before dashing through the mirror after her dream boy.

"Stay safe." Wendy warned as she went back through the mirror.

"And take care of each other." Dipper smiled with a small salute before taking the small step across dimensions back home.
