Merlin's grin grew with each twist of the screwdriver, anticipating all the trouble it would cause when the giant chandelier came crashing down.

He used many faces in his visits to Hogwarts, but this was his favorite disguise despite its limits. Most of his focus and power was tied up in maintaining its special properties so he rarely did magic in this form - this being the reason he was using a tool instead of just whisking the screws away with a flash of his eyes. It was nice, though; gave him a greater sense of accomplishment. Or it would if he could ever manage to make any progress. What was that mnemonic again? Something about right and left...

"It unscrews the other way," McGonagall whispered from below him. He had always had a soft spot for that woman – she reminded him of Gaius in some ways. With a faint nod of acknowledgment he reversed his turning, only just managing to contain a cackle of delight.
