Back at Hearthome City, Aunt Melissa and the police arrived at the center plaza. However, they were in for quite a surprise. The city looked demolished. Buildings were damaged and depree littered the streets. Most of the city folks had ran away, but they were able to find a couple who stayed behind. The police had left a day ago, and were oblivious to the happenings in hearthome. The female officer ran up to the a man who was gathering his belongings from a partially demolished store front.
"Excuse me, sir. What happened here?" she asked.
The man turned toward the officer, shocked that she wasn't aware of the situation. "You weren't informed, mam? A large green dragon pokemon came by the city and wreaked havoc. It destroyed buildings and even killed many innocent people. Most of us escaped from the city during the chaos. I stayed because of my family, and sure enough, the dragon left."
Aunt Melissa looked around at the rubble. She turned toward the male officer standing beside her. "Is the hospital alright? I want to see my nephew." she pleaded.
"Mam, your nephew is not in the hospital anymore. He's in the morgue." he said.
"Bring me to him." she said eagerly. As the female officer went to attend the people of the city. The other officer brought Aunt Melissa to the morgue. Thankfully, the morgue was not damaged. She walked in to find no one at the front counter.
"The people working here must have left during the outbreak. I'll see if I can find his body for you." said the officer as he walked behind the counter and looked at the information. He motioned for her to follow him into the back room. The back room was quite large and was filled with newly arrived bodies. The officer read the number tag on every body, and found what he was looking for.
"This one here should be your nephew, Ryo." said the officer. Aunt Melissa was wary as she looked down at the white sheet covering Ryo's body. She took a deep breath and pulled the sheet away. Aunt melissa screamed in horror as she saw her nephew's body. His body was severely dry and shriveled. It looked like his whole body was burned, yet the texture was off. It was like Ryo's life energy was completely drained.
"What happened to him?" cried Aunt Melissa.
"I'm afraid you're asking the wrong person." he said. Aunt Melissa bent down and put her hand on Ryo's shriveled one. I was ice cold. She felt nothing from the touch. The slightest hope Aunt Melissa had of a misunderstanding with Ryo's status was completely erased. Her nephew was, without a doubt, dead. She began to cry out loudly.
"Oh, Ryo. Why did you have to go out. Why were you so insistent on seeing the world." she said through her tears. The officers placed a hand on her shoulder to console her.
"Where is his friend, Quinn?" she suddenly asked.
"Who, mam?" asked the officer.
"He had a close friend named Quinn. The two boys came by and visited me a month earlier. Where is his friend?" asked Aunt Melissa again.
"I don't personally know the boy you are referring to. But he sounds like he was a pokemon trainer, most likely. If that's true, he might be at the Sinnoh League down at Sunyshore. I can take you there if you want." he said.
"Yes, take me to the pokemon league. I need to see him and ask him about Ryo." she said. With that, Aunt Melissa and the police officer got into his car and drove off toward Sunyshore City.
Meanwhile, the gang and dialga were flying above the clouds, presumably heading for a confrontation with the dark lord. Hazel couldn't believe she still hasn't asked yet. She was thinking about this the whole time, but she just kept forgetting to bring up the topic.
"Quinn, I mean Dialga. Where is Ryo?" she asked. Hazel felt his body shudder at her question. Dialga stayed silent.
"Dialga, what happened to Ryo?" Hazel was growing uncomfortable with Dialga's hesitation to answer the question.
"Ryo…..is not with us." said Dialga.
"Not with us? What do you mean? Like he isn't here at this location or…." began Dan.
"No, he…. He's dead." said Dialga.
Hazel and Dan were completely silent from shock. Alice didn't know who Ryo was, but she realized he was probably an important friend.
"He's dead?" choked out Hazel. "How?"
Dialga contemplated whether to tell them the complete truth. "Ryo was killed by Mewtwo, one of the dark lord's legendaries."
Dan was now angry and he stood up. "What do you mean he was killed by the dark lord? Didn't he have you? The all powerful legendary and master of time? If you were legendary this whole time, why didn't you have the power to save him?"
"Dan…" began Hazel.
"Did Ryo know the truth about you?" asked Dan.
Dialga remembered to Ryo's last words. "He….did." Now Dan was pissed.
"Then why didn't you protect him? Why didn't you transform into the way you are now and fought Mewtwo yourself. What did you have to lose if Ryo already knew your secret? Are you saying you need a human to do your dirty work?" he began to shout. Hazel pulled Dan down.
"You can't yell at him like that!" shouted Alice toward Dan. "He didn't have his powers then. He could only change back now because of me. When Ryo was alive, I didn't know about him. He was just a helpless human. It's not his fault that Ryo is dead." said Alice.
"No, Alice." said Dialga calmly. "Dan is right. I am a legendary, and I failed to protect one life. I don't have an excuse toward why I couldn't save Ryo. All I could say is that I was incompetent. I should've sacrificed my life for his."
This time Hazel stood up and hit Dialga on the back. "Don't talk like that. Do you think Ryo would have wanted you to continue living with this attitude. I'm betting that he sacrificed himself so you could gather your strength and defeat the dark lord. I do not blame you for Ryo's death, but I will hate you if you make his death be in vain." said Hazel.
From Hazel's words, Dialga snapped out of his depression. "You're right, Hazel. I shouldn't worry about what I could have done. I have to focus on the current task, which is to save the legendaries and take out the dark lord. His key legendary, Mewtwo, has already been eliminated." said Dialga.
"Mewtwo? Really? Did you do that?" asked Alice.
"No, Ryo was responsible for that." said Dialga. Hazel and Dan looked at each other, then back at Dialga.
"Wait, Ryo had the power to take down a legendary? He's just a human?" said Dan. Dialga took a deep breath and explained the whole story. Everything he knew from Stark Mountain and what had happened. Hazel held her dead arm after Dialga informed her of Ryo's transformation.
"It's just like me." she began. "I transformed my arm into a pokemons, and I payed the price by losing my arm. That means if Ryo had transformed his whole body, he would be sacrificing his whole body. So Ryo really did sacrifice himself to kill mewtwo."
"What about those bad guys who serve the dark lord. Are they all dead?" asked Dan.
"No, I believe one of them is still alive. And his name is Axel." said Dialga.
"Axel? The one from the sinnoh tournament?" asked Dan. "I always thought he had a dark secret. He was a weird person."
"So what is the plan?" asked Hazel. "How are we going to fight this dark lord?" Dialga was about to answer, but he was cut off as he sensed the dark legendaries approaching.
"This is bad. They found us!" said Dialga as he got ready for a fight. Before long, many legendaries appeared from the clouds. All his fellow legendaries, but they were all shrouded in that same dark aura. Lugai appeared and on him was the dark lord, smiling sinisterly at Dialga.
"Looks like we finally found you, Dialga." said the dark lord. Axel was standing right beside him. Dialga felt hopeless as he stared at all the legendaries ready to attack him. he , by himself, could not possibly take out all these legendaries.
"Oh, you can relax." said the dark lord. "I'm a fair man, despite what you think. I will not be forcing you to fight with unfair numbers. How about this, you will fight each of these legendaries, one at a time." he proposed.
Dialga glared in anger, but the dark lord didn't care. "Zapdos, your upp first. Show Dialga your improved power." said the dark lord. The large electric bird flew front and center and faced Dialga. Dialga realized that the humans were still on his back. He couldn't possibly fight to his full potential while making sure that they don't fall of his body. All of them are above the clouds, so a fall from that height will, without a doubt, kill them.
The dark lord saw the worried expression in Dialga's face. "Oh, I see. You're afraid for those humans on your back. And that reminds me." he snapped his fingers. Zekrom flew over and snatched Hazel up.
"Ahh! Hey! Let go!" she yelled. Dialga turned around to stop Zekrom, but Zapdos flew around and blocked him.
"What are you doing to her?!" Dialga demanded.
"She took something from us. Or should I say, someone." said the dark lord. Axel was riding Zekrom at the moment. He jumped down and grabbed Hazel's bag. He rummaged through her stuff and pulled out a pokeball.
"I got him sir. I retrieved Groudon." said Axel.
Dialga stared in shock. Groudon? He never knew Hazel had that legendary in her possession. "Hazel, how did you…" Dialga began asking.
"Oh, I kind of took it when I fought Darius, one of the scouters. He had a groudon and when I killed him, I took his pokeball with Groudon in it." she admitted.
"Zekrom will be holding on to her, now." said the dark lord. "Now, focus on fighting your opponent Dialga."
Zapdos flew forward and used thunderbolt. Dialga dashed to the right, nearly dodging the attack. Alice and Dan held on for dear life on the steal ridges of his back. Dialga retaliated by using Dragon pulse. Zapdos flew up, dodging the beam. While the two legendaries fought, the dark lord was chanting something under his breath. Axel noticed his master's strange behavior.
"Sir, what are you doing?" he asked.
"Axel, do you remember what my very first goal was?" he asked.
"I believe you wanted all the legendaries to be under your control." answered Axel.
"Yes, and Mewtwo was the legendary that had the power to brainwash them. He had the ability to corrupt the legendaries and make them serve me. Now that he is gone, I still need to find a way to get Dialga under my control before I complete my goal." said the dark lord.
"How are you going to do that without Mewtwo?" asked Axel.
"Are kidding me? How do you think mewtwo had that power? I created Mewtwo. The only benefit was that Mewtwo was a pokemon, so he could easily use his psychic powers to corrupt the legendaries. However, I was the one to teach him how to use that magic. I can use thet magic, but it takes me time to conjure it." said the dark lord. Axel noticed a peculiar dark aura begin to generate within his palms.
"This fight was a distraction, wasn't it?" asked Axel.
"You guessed it. And now!" he yelled as he pointed his hand toward Dialga. Dialga heard the dark lord's yell. He turned to see what he was doing, but was greeted by a large blast of dark energy. It was too late for Dialga to dodge. He was struck by the beam, and it pushed him back.
"Dialga! Are you okay?" asked Alice.
Dialga blinked, wondering what hit him, but then his head began throbbing. Dialga roared in pain. Zapdos knew of the dark lord's plan, and retreated as the dark lord had placed his curse upon Dialga.
"Yo, are you alright?" asked Dan concerned as he saw Dialga shaking uncontrollably. Dialga felt himself lose consciousness.
"Get off me, now!" he yelled.
"What do you mean? I'm not going to leave you." said Alice as she held on.
"Alice, please…." Dialga began put roared again as he succumbed to the dark lord's spell. Dialga's eyes glowed purple and dark aura began emanating from him. Dan grabbed Alice by the arm.
"We have to get off. He's dangerous right now." said Dan reading the situation. Dialga wasn't himself anymore. He lifted his tail and tried to smash the two humans riding him.
"Hydreigon, get out now!"yelled Dan as his pokemon appeared. He grabbed Alice and hopped on Hydreigon. The two fo them flew off of Dialga's body and they headed for Hazel. Zekrom was caught off guard, and Hydreigon was able to snatch Hazel from his hands.
"What's wrong with Dialga?" asked Hazel. "Did the dark lord corrupt him too?"
"No! Dialga!" cried Alice.
Dialga bowed down to the dark lord. The dark lord laughed maniacally. "Yes! I finally have control over the last legendary. Now my plan for world domination can finally begin!"
"What should I do, my lord." said Dialga in a monotone voice.
The dark lord smiled. "Kill those humans that you were trying to save." Without hesitation, Dialga turned and flew toward Hydreigon, carrying Hazel, Dan, and Alice. Dialga roared as he began to charge an attack. "Oh, no. What do we do now!?" yelled Hazel.
Author's Note: This surely is a turn for the worse. Dialga is now also corrupted by the dark lord. What will happen to Hazel, Dan, and Alice? Is there anyway to turn things around? Will Diagla eventually be able to fight off this curse placed upon him, or will he succumb to it like the rest of the legendaries? As always, please stay tuned. Please leave a comment or a review. I would really appreciate the feedback.
