Dark
No, this cant be happening. I cant handle this, hes supposed to be mine and that means he isnt supposed to be with someone else…. My eyes stung slightly watering as I walked away from Link to get cleaned up and dressed.
"Dark please don't shut me out, Talk to me." I swallowed hard, I will make them pay for this.
"You will stay here and not move until I come back." His eyes widened as he grabbed my arm.
"Dark please-" I cut him off.
"You will stay!" I growled as he flinched away from me his eyes wide filled with tears.
"o-okay." I put my hand out to him glaring, he whimpered before placing the ocarina of time in my hands. I put it to my lips playing what I assume to be the prelude of light. When I got there I knew they were already there waiting for Link. I stepped forward as princess Zelda turned around already sensing the presence of the triforce. Too bad she didn't know it was mine as I stayed in the shadow of the doorway.
"Link im so glad you're here! but where is Dark?" She feigned innocence, I smirked she was going to regret the day she ever met me. I used my magic closing my eyes feeling the familiar warm caress as it changed everything about me to match Link. I stepped forward walking past sheik who was looking at the floor in shame.
"He died earlier today." How disgusting you are princess, she covers her mouth as fake tears spring to her eyes.
"Oh Link, im so sorry! Where is the body we will give him a proper burial?" She said stepping forward offering me a hug. I walked passed her as she and sheik looked at me.
"You know the strange thing? Nabooru saw him she said he was poisoned by a gerudian poison. The only person other than Nabooru and myself he came in contact with was sheik. Whom you forced to go beat the Gerudo temple with us." I said looking at her and sheik staring at me guiltily.
"Im here to say I'm done. I told you both hyrule would fall if we were separated. Have fun killing Ganondorf." A strangled gasp came from Zelda as she stared at me in shock.
"B-but Link." I narrowed my eyes at her raising an eyebrow.
"Regretting your decision princess?" I spat making her flinch as real tears ran down her cheeks. I grabbed her by the collar of her dress drawing my sword seeing only red as I readied it to plunge in her heart.
"He couldn't be with you Link! Im the princess you should love me!" In the end I felt sorry for her shaking my head as I sheathed my sword, she was pathetic and delusional not even worth killing..
"at one point I did Zelda. Now I don't even know you anymore." I said turning my back to her.
"Well well what do we have here?" I froze my heart almost stopping as his voice reached my ears.
"The princess of Hyrule and my pets light. How fitting. He laughed to himself as we all turned around staring in shock as he appeared.
"Im here for the triforce of wisdom, ill take courage when you come to my castle. And do bring that shadow with you itll be nice to have some fun with him again." Ganon laughed making me want to throw up. Sheik raised a dagger as Ganon took a step forward towards Zelda.
"As for you sheikah get out of my way." Sheik shook his head, with a snap of his fingers Ganon created a diamond barrier around her. Sheik looked behind him for a moment to see Zelda staring at us in fear. Using a blue orb of magic Ganon threw it at sheik who hit the wall of the temple hard. Breathing hard sheik stood one more time while I ran to Zeldas cage.
"Zelda! Zelda no!" I screamed slamming my fists on the glass hoping to break her free.
"That wont work hero. We will wait for you in the castle." I watched as she was raised into the sky before disappearing along with Ganon. Sheik was in shock as he fell to his knees, my whole body went cold. I didn't mean for this to happen, if Link finds out hes going to hate me. Not just that, im not ready to face Ganon not yet. I used the ocarina to take me to the temple in the desert before making my way to the safe house I was sharing with him. When I got there he was already asleep, that would make this easier for me. I put the Ocarina on the table by the bed, I walked close to him gently brushing his bangs out of his face.
"Don't follow me, focus on Zelda. Im sorry." I whispered pressing a gentle kiss to Links lips causing him to stir.
"Dark your back." He whispered groggily cracking one eye open while rubbing the other with his hand.
"Go back to bed ill get in after I undress." He nodded closing his eyes and falling back asleep almost immediately.
"Goodbye my love." I whispered turning my back to him writing a letter for him. This is goodbye, you can find sheik in the temple of time to explain everything to you. Im sorry Link and I beg of you please don't look for me.
I pick up the letter rereading it I know I don't have the right to say I love him so I leave it in the empty space of the bed where I should be. But wont ever again, I look at my love memorizing his face before letting one stray tear roll down my cheek. With that I walked out of the safe house. I went through the fortress going straight to Aviana. Who raises an eyebrow as I enter her room.
"Look what we have here, the hero of time has a twin." I glare at her stepping forward grabbing her by the throat and pushing her against the wall. She was clawing at my hand fear in her eyes.
"Your lucky im merciful but I swear if you go near Link or try to make him keep his word about sleeping with you, I will come back and choke the life out of you." I growled slamming her back against the wall before letting her go. She was crying and gasping in fear, I decided on going to the stables next seeing epona.
I kissed her before hopping atop an all black horse, surely they wont mind finding this one missing. I sigh leading the horse away from the fortress it isnt long before im in Hyrule field again. I travel to Kakariko Village deciding I cant look like Link anymore. It takes me until morning to reach the town I tie up my horse whom ive taken to calling Sabbia outside the village before heading in.
I walked past the guards and some villagers scrambling to do morning chores. I went into a shop to find a new tunic I picked out a red one that kind of resembled the one I wear now except it was longer and had a long slit on both sides that reached up to my hips. I paid for it along with some new food and water for the trip im going to take. If I stay in Hyrule Link will find me, I don't want to face him.
Going to the graveyard where I know I wont be disturbed I quickly changed my tunic and pull on my cloak covering my head as I go back for sabbia. Before long were riding on through the only exit from Hyrule. There were a few neighboring countries I decided it would be safer to go to the farthest city to hyrule, Stone Gate.
I looked back one last time before continuing onward. It took me two days to finally make it to Stone Gate. The first thing I did was buy a home I had more than enough rupees from my quest with Link, so I decided to settle here. I walked into the mayors office, his attendant who was constantly scribbling about something stopped immediately once she saw me.
"Im here to see the Mayor about buying the house on the edge of the city." Her face flushed as I pulled down my hood.
"Y-yes, Go on in." She squealed, her brown eyes boring into the floor as she tucked a strand of auburn hair behind her ear.
"Thanks." I said walking into the mayors office.
"Hello sir, I am mayor Giovanni what can I do for you?" My eyebrows shot up at the the short stout man before me.
"Hello mayor my name is Dark im here to buy the home on the edge of the city." He stood waddling over to me sizing me up as he walked in a circle around me.
"I will give it to you free of charge on one condition. My eyes narrowed at the man making him swallow hard.
"I want you to be a fighting instructor for the guards of the city, you look like you can handle yourself much better than they can." I nodded accepting the offer as he handed me the keys to my new home. I walk myself and Sabbia to our new home while twirling my keys on my finger tips. My mind drifts back to Link, im sure he knows im gone already its been about 4 days since I left. I hope hes fairing alright. My heart clenches knowing I can never go back to him, Ill kill everyone in my wake if I do. Just as im about to walk into my room a girl steps in my way making me raise an eyebrow at her.
"Your in my way." I stated hoping she would move she only grinned.
"Im Irene, your new best friend." She said holding out a hand for me to shake.
"Look kid I don't have time for this." I said about to step around her when suddenly im paralyzed and my hand meets hers. I stare at the short haired witch with a smile on her face as she releases me.
"I-im Dark." I said nervously.
"Ill see you around Dark!" She smiles her short blue colored hair bouncing as she sprints away waving. I shake my head as I finally reach my house, she seems like an okay person. I sigh unlocking the door, I set my pack on the table inside. The house is pretty big considering the size of the town. I go upstairs to a kingsized bed and quickly shed my weapons and tunic. Laying down hugging a pillow tightly, this is the first time since weve met that we havent slept together in each others arms.
I feel the tears roll down my cheeks as I finally let everything sink in. I almost killed princess Zelda, I let Ganon hurt sheik, I let him take Zelda. I almost killed that Bitch Aviana too and left Link by himself to take on Ganon. I closed my eyes as the tears came, I didn't hold them back I let them fall freely. Im a danger to him and all of his friends, he will never be allowed to be normal if hes with me.
I bury my face in the pillow wishing I was in Links arms having him pet my hair telling me he loved me. Id never have that again I wiped my tears looking at the ceiling. "Hello brother." I sat up staring in shock as Midna stood before me fully grown.
"Sister… What are you….?" She sat on my bed by my side.
"Hes dead meaning you have to come back and rule us." I shook my head I don't belong there either.
"Take over for me sis." I said smiling when she gets an impish grin on her face.
"Youll come visit wont you?" I nodded wrapping my arms around her.
"One day." She smiles one last time before bowing and disappearing into the shadows. I smile to myself before closing my eyes and letting sleep over take me.
"Wake up sleepy head! I made you breakfast!" I groan sitting up as I see the witch smiling sitting on my bed.
"H-how did you get in Irene?" I yawned staring at her through blurry eyes.
"Im an apprentice witch getting past that lock was easy….but you may need a new door." She says giving me a sheepish grin as I return it with a death glare.
"Only joking, now up before the food gets cold." I sigh shooing her out of the room as I get dressed again. I stretch as I walk down the stairs to the delicious scent of cooked eggs and bacon.
"Thank you Irene this is very kind of you." She smiled softly looking a bit younger than me.
"Anything for my new best friend." She says softly sitting with me as we eat in silence. Once we finish she takes the dishes washing them for me. Theres a knock on the door and I heave a sigh of relief that the door thing really was a joke. I go to open it to see the mayor there a smile on his face.
"You ready to go to work?" I sighed nodding as Irene ran up to me holding my belts, sword and shield.
"Thanks Irene" she smiles kissing my cheek making my face flush. That's the first kiss I received from someone other than Link.
"See you after work!" She waves some how I find myself smiling shes also my first friend besides Link. The mayor and I walked to the guard house where they were all lazing about. I glared, if I did this sort of thing in front of Ganon he would have beat the shit out of me.
"This wont do." I walked forward glaring at them, they hadnt even noticed us.
"Get up!" I growled making all the guards rise to their feet in fear.
"Get outside! Im going to train you to be real knights!" They scrambled outside and I smiled in satisfaction..When I get outside I take hours teaching them how to use their swords and honestly how dangerous it is as well as why they should always be on their guard. Its already dusk by the time I get home and once again Irene is here with dinner ready.
"How was work?" I smiled sitting at the table.
"Tiring but it was really fun, what about you did you hang around here all day?" She shakes her head with a smile. Im surprised the thought of her staying here doesn't bother me at all. Then again shes been nothing but kind to me that must be why I don't mind.
"I have a job too you know." She pouted making me laugh.
"Where do you work?"I ask as I begin eating the pumpkin soup she made me.
" Im bartender at Stone Gate Tavern." I nodded my head as she rambled on about work and to be completely honest it was comforting. I finished dinner and once again she took the dishes cleaning them as I stared at her.
"Are you staying the night?" She shakes her head again.
"I gotta work another shift tonight, ill see you in the morning though alright Darkness?" She says standing on her tiptoes to kiss my cheek.
"Darkness?" I say while nodding as she giggles.
"It's a nickname silly." I laugh and roll my eyes, Link never gave me a nickname, he always used my name. I almost frowned but walked her to the door waving as she ran to work in the Darkness. I closed the door heading for the bathroom to take a nice hot bath. I let the tub fill as Link drifted to my mind once more. My heart ached, im happy though according to Midna he had defeated Ganon and I couldn't be more proud of him. I wonder if hes thinking of me. I sighed sitting in the bath tub wishing Link and I could bath together. Its taking everything in me not to run back to him but this is the way its supposed to be.
