A/N: I know I don't say it enough but I want to thank each and everyone of you who takes the time to read the stories I write. When I was introduced to fanfiction and started writing stories and posting them I ever once thought that anyone would like them and read them like you guys have. From the bottom of my heart thank you so much.
Alex took a deep breath and tried her best to concentrate on the brief in front of her but failed miserably. She knew Olivia had been in the interview with Branch for the last thirty minutes and was nervous as hell for the brunette she loved more than life itself. She had spent the last week waging an internal battle on whether or not to go against Olivia's wishes and tell Branch everything and convince him to give her the job or let her attempt it on her own. In the end she knew that no matter how well she tried to hide it that Olivia would know she assisted her in getting the job so she opted to stay out of it. Stay out of it to an extent, anyways.
Since Alex made the decision that she couldn't go to Branch and convince him to give Olivia the job she did the next best thing. She researched her competition and breathed a sigh of relief when she discovered that only one other person had applied for the position. That was until she read their education and background. Jerome Sherrod had graduated Magna Cum Laude from New York University with a Masters in Social Work and a Bachelor's in Psychology. He had started his career at a substance abuse center until he had transferred to Child Protective Services, where he had worked for the last seven years. He had several glowing letters of recommendations from his current employer, past employer, and a few of his college professors. What he didn't have, which was the one thing Olivia did have over him, was the Rape Crisis Counselor certification and experience of dealing with sexual assault victims. Alex silently prayed that that was enough for Branch since he called her for an interview.
Growling in frustration Alex tossed her pen on her desk and started to stand up when a voice from her doorway stopped her.
"I thought I only saw these tantrums at home." Olivia said laughing at Alex.
"You know if a certain brunette didn't occupy my thoughts constantly and make it hard for me to concentrate I wouldn't have get so frustrated and throw my pen."
"Maybe if someone would learn to control their hot headed temper you wouldn't have to worry about that."
"This has nothing to do with my temper but everything to do with my frustration."
"Well" Olivia said dropping her voice a tone as she stepped in the door and locked it behind her "As long as you can figure out how to keep silent I will be more than happy to end your frustration."
Alex felt her body shiver in anticipation and a flood of wetness pour from her. How in the world could hearing one woman say they want to end your frustration be such a turn on was beyond Alex but god did it turn her on. If Alex wasn't so hell bent on being professional inside the walls of One Hogan Place she would gladly give into her desires but she was a firm believer in separating personal and professional. So instead she tried her best to take a deep breath and calm her raging libido, which was a total failure on her part.
Olivia couldn't help but take pity on her lover and the internal battle she was obviously waging. She knew the standard that Alex held not only herself but those that worked with her as well and felt bad for putting her in that position. "Hey, I'm just teasing you." Olivia answered in a normal tone hoping to relieve some of her lovers stress.
"Yeah well one look at you and I'm turned on so.." Alex answered blushing slightly as she pulled Olivia to her and hugged her briefly.
"I pray that never changes."
"Oh if just now is any indication I think it should change in about a hundred years and even then I think the change will be my feeling intensified not lessened." Alex explained as she motioned Olivia to take a seat on the couch before joining her "Do you want me to order some lunch for us?"
"No baby, I just stopped by to talk to you." Olivia smiled taking Alex's hands in hers and squeezing it "I just left Branch's office."
"And?"
"Well." Olivia said releasing Alex's hand and looking away deciding to toy with her a little more "He said that the other person was more qualified for the job. They had completed all the college education and apparently being a hooker wasn't one of their past jobs."
Alex closed her eyes and felt her whole body shake with anger. How dare Branch hold that against Olivia? He knew every battle she had overcame and he still used that against her. "I will personally strangle him." Alex spat out between clenched teeth as she stood "he had no right to use that against you and so help him if he made one wrong comment to you."
"Alex." Olivia said in a warning tone as she reached for her "he's your boss, don't go off at him."
"He is my boss but I will not have him or anyone else disrespecting you." Alex whispered in a calmer voice as she leaned down and caressed the side of Olivia's face. God how she loved this woman more than anything else, sometimes it scared her and sometimes it excited her. This time it was exciting to her.
"He didn't disrespect me or anything else."
"But he brought up your past."
"Which he had to, too interview me, Alex. Honey I love the fact that you are so protective of me and want to keep me safe. Believe me I do." Olivia said standing "But you can't always run in and save the day. I am a big girl and can handle things myself."
"Yeah but to be honest with you I had already told him about your past and our relationship. There was nothing left to ask you about or bring up and if he was so damn curious he could have pulled your court transcripts to discover anything he needed to know. He sure as hell didn't have to bring it up to you."
"If he wanted to truly know about me, my past, and if I would tell the truth he had to honey."
Alex sighed and looked away. She knew that Olivia was right and that ultimately her past would come up somewhere but that didn't mean she had to like it. "I know, I just want to protect you from everything and it really pisses me off when I can't. So what else did he say?"
"That he loved the fact that I had the state certification of a Rape Crisis Counselor and he had called the center I volunteer at as well."
"Which they said you were the best thing ever, without a doubt."
"Yeah pretty much." Olivia answered cocking her eyebrow at Alex.
"No I didn't call them or anything." Alex said laughing "I just know that's the truth but then again I may be a little bias.'
"A little?"
"Fine I am very bias but no one can blame me."
"Exactly!" Moving on, he said the certification and the glowing reviews was something I had going in my favor."
"And?"
"And he felt that because of my past I would be better suited for the job because I could relate better to the victims."
"Relate better to the victims?"
"Yes." Olivia said smiling "The victims that the detectives at the Special Victims Unit at the 1-6 encounter."
"1-6 as in the unit I work with." Alex asked not bothering to hold the shock back in her face.
"Yes."
"He's offered you the job and he's going to let you work with me?"
"Providing we keep it professional which I swore to him would not be a problem at all."
"So you got the job?"
"Yes baby I accepted the job and I start on Monday with training."
"Whoo hoo" Alex said picking Olivia up and spinning her around "I told you baby you were the best one for the position and you had it in the bag."
"You would know since they were hiring to fill a vacancy with your department."
"Actually no." Alex answered setting Olivia down groaning slightly as she felt her body slide down the length of hers "The opening I told you about and recommended you for was over at robbery homicide. I didn't even know we had an opening in SVU for another advocate. There was talk during the last budget meeting about opening up a position for a second one because of the volume of cases they handle but no one ever said either way if it was approved or not."
"You had no clue?"
"No baby." Alex said reaching for a piece of paper on her desk "This is the memo that he put out stating that the position that needed to be filled was in robbery homicide. No one had said anything about SVU but we desperately need a second person and I couldn't think of a better person than you. I'll be honest I feel as if you were made for the job and was hoping you would get this job and could make a lateral transfer when this position became available."
"Well my love your wish has come true."
"Boy has it." Alex answered pulling Olivia against her body "Something tells me that all my wishes are going to keep coming true.'
"Does it now" Olivia stated laying her head on Alex's chest.
"Mm hmm" Alex hummed "And its going to start right now because I am taking the rest of the day off and we are going to celebrate."
"Your work?"
"Can wait till tomorrow because all I have to work on are briefs for court next week." Alex said extracting herself from Olivia and grabbing her coat and briefcase from her desk "Besides I have a nice little surprise I've been dying to share with you and I'm tired of waiting.'
"Yes ma'am." Olivia said laughing as she followed Alex out of her office and down the hall wondering what type of surprise Alex could possibly have for her.
