Sunday
The morning had started out the same as all of her previous ones; a phone call from one of her alphabet buddies across the sea.
"How may I be of service, M1." Kagome laughed at the annoyed growl on the other line.
"I tried calling you yesterday, but it said your phone was disconnected or no longer in service."
Kagome smiled, "yeah...I didn't have any signal where I was. Sorry about that."
"No, it's fine."
"Tell her about that thing!"
Kagome raised a brow as she got onto her laptop, fiddling with the cross dangling from the silver chain around her neck, she inquired curiously about the comment made by M2. "What thing, Mel?"
"We got to playing around online, and Mr. Computer Savoir-faire over here-"
"I have no clue what that means..."
"...it means you speak with finesse in your chosen vernacular...technology. Anyways, he found some information about a Kagome Higurashi...in some scroll...it's in a museum in Japan actually."
"Really?!" Kagome frowned, what was the scroll about.
"Well...that was the weird thing about it...the name was written in a mix of languages, different characters made up your name, from Kanji, to Hiragana, Katakana...Romanji...but the scroll itself was something like a map..."
"Of what?"
"Japan...like...five hundred years ago. Why does it matter?"
Kagome smiled, "did it say who made the map, or what the map was leading to?"
"Uh...a moon? Matt...what was the map leading to?"
"It's a kingdom...looks like a gamer map, a walkthrough to dungeons and dragons or something. It shows the area in sections, meaning the kingdom is underground...or aboveground. Pick your poison...because it also shows traps."
"Of course...perhaps an adventure for another time?"
"Hm?"
Kagome nodded, "yeah, you guys can come with me and we can search for the Crescent Moon Palace!"
"...hey."
"What?" Kagome typed into the search engine her name, curiously wondering if something interesting might pop up.
"I never told you what type of moon was on the map."
"..." Kagome cringed, mentally kicking herself, "it was just...a guess..."
"...I see. Well hey, I'm going to let you go, I have a lot of homework to do."
"Alright, I'll talk to you guys later."
Kagome smiled as the phoneline went dead a moment later. Hanging up her phone, she looked at the screen, a picture of the very scroll the boys had mentioned prior to them hanging up was staring back at her. Shaking her head, she knew that right now wasn't the time to be searching out her past, besides, she'd already said goodbye to it. Right now, her future was what needed her, the present was where she needed to be. Standing, she closed her laptop and took off towards the front door.

Wednesday
Kagome picked up her phone as it started to ring, not bothering to look at who was calling as it was her Detective phone that was ringing. "Hey Mello,"
"Hey! Listen, we talked to L recently, we will be coming down to participate in the case, under the condition that I don't fight with Sheep Boy, of course. He said we would be staying in the same hotel as him, different room though."
Placing her pencil down, she smiled, "that's awesome, and when does your flight leave?"
"In about four hours, we will be leaving to get to the Airport in about an hour...we have to help Sheep Boy pack since he isn't use to travel, It's annoying really, even now he's sitting on his bed just watching us pack his stuff."
"I never told you to pack my stuff...Mello chose to do such an action of his own tenacity. However, it is appreciated,"
"Whatever."
Kagome laughed, "I'm going to let you pack then, call me when you guys get here, I'm going to stop by and see L, maybe coerce him into letting me go with Watari to pick you guys up from the airport."
"Unlikely, he wants you to remain a secret to the world. If someone see's you with the one connection to L...Watari...then they will know you work for L also, or at the least, they will suspect as much, unless they are completely stupid. Anyways, I'll talk with you later!"
"See you soon, Pen Pal!"
Running most of the way to the Hotel where she knew L was staying, Kagome stopped at the sight of the detectives in the Task Force walking up to the entrance.
"Miss. Higurashi, please follow the remaining task force inside, it's time to let them meet my 'undercover agent'."
"I thought I was supposed to remain a secret."
"You will not be mentioned under any circumstance, by anyone in the task force, and I will make that clear as well...please have faith in my decision."
"Yes...of course." Walking in after the group, she stopped as they walked in the elevator, waiting for the doors to close, she stepped into the one next to theirs, and made her way up to his floor. Watari was with the other group, and she was sure he'd tell her when to go in, so once the elevator door opened, she stepped out and leaned against the wall, waiting for L or Watari to tell her to come in. It was only a few moments later, L's voice met her ear.
"You can come in now,"
Placing her hand on the door handle, Kagome took a deep breath, then opened the door, all eyes...on her.
