Koga pulled the blue Ranger up to the garage of Jade's home. A sigh of relief crossed his lips as he shut down the engine, grateful that they'd made it to their home without any unforeseen incidents. He glanced over at Jade who had fallen asleep with the steady thrum of the V6 engine and tires on pavement. Her head leaned against the passenger side door, the angelic curve of her neck ever enticing to the azure gaze of Koga. He could hear her soft breath escape as she continued to sleep, completely oblivious to her surroundings.
"How could I have been so lucky?" he thought as he brushed a strand of Jade's hair from her pale face. Koga thought back to his visit with Inuyasha, hoping that would be the last time that he'd have to deal with the mutt. "He'd better have gotten the message to leave what's mine alone. I won't be so gentle on him a second time." Anger flashed across his azure eyes as he recalled the cur's faint scent upon his beloved.
Sensing that the vehicle was no longer moving, Jade eased her eyes open, taking in the scene that was her home. "How long have we been home?" she asked catching his longing gaze.
"No more than a few minutes," he replied, a wolfish grin crossing his lips. "Shall we go in? Or would you rather spend the rest of the night out here?"
Easing open the passenger side door with her good arm, Jade replied, "My bed is more comfortable than this door. Thanks for the thought though." Both occupants of the truck exited and turned toward the home. Using the spare key on Hakkaku's key ring, Koga unlocked the front door easing it open for Jade.
She moved toward the couch, wanting nothing more than to take off her hikers, slip into something more comfortable and go to sleep. Koga kept his eyes on his beloved as he moved from the front door, relishing the sight of her, memorizing every move, sigh and touch. Seeing that she was having a bit of a hard time with untying her hikers, he moved toward her long tan legs.
"Here, let me get that for you," he stated as he knelt in front of Jade.
Pulling back slightly, Jade exclaimed, "I've got it, just not that well," as she gripped the tie and pulled the bow into a knot instead of loosening the shoe laces.
Koga shook his head slightly with a chuckle as he gripped Jade's hiker and worked the knot loose with his claws. Within a few seconds, Jade's socks and hikers sat in a pile next to the couch. Easing from his kneeling position back to his feet, Koga glimpsed a slight smile of bliss. Moving toward the fridge, looking for something to drink, Koga asked, "Want something to drink?"
"Yeah, there should be some cold Henry's in there toward the back," Jade replied, as she pulled her feet onto the couch.
Knowing what he was looking for, Koga put his head further into the fridge, searching out the brown glass bottles of root beer. Taking a couple of steady breaths, he noticed the fading sent of his one time rival, anger flashed through his eyes as he sniffed again. "What… what was that mutt doing here?" he thought frantically as he pulled back from the fridge. He looked around the kitchen once more, breathing deeper to see if his initial thoughts were just a mistake.
"Is something wrong?" Jade asked, seeing Koga moving from the fridge toward the back part of the kitchen and the stairs to the basement.
Stopping his search for more evidence, Koga moved back to the galley kitchen. Reaching into a cabinet for a couple of glasses, he replied, "No, I thought that I smelled a bad odor was all. Something rotten really," covering his suspicions. Moving back to the fridge, he grabbed up two of the root beers before sitting down on the edge of the couch with Jade. He set the two glasses down, opened one of the root beers and was about to pour it into the glass when Jade grabbed it from his hand.
Downing about half of it, Jade apologized, "Sorry, it just tastes so much better from the bottle." A bit of a blush crossed her cheeks as she felt his azure gaze rest fully upon her body.
"No, you need not apologize, Jade," he replied, easing further onto the couch as he curled a finger under her chin, forcing her gently to face him. "I forgot how beautiful you are," Koga replied. Leaning forward ever so gently he brushed his lips against hers, tasting the root beer as it lingered on her lips.
A slight whimper escaped Jade as the longing of her beloved finally was realized. Slowly she parted her lips, eager to taste Koga's essence, deepening the kiss to pull him closer to her body. All too eager to comply he moved toward her, running his hand slowly down her uninjured arm feeling the warmth radiating from her body. Wanting to feel more of her lover against her heated body, Jade moved her hands slowly to the black T-shirt that he wore, pulling it gently from the confines of his belted jeans. Realizing what she had in mind and knowing that in her current condition that she wouldn't be able to get the shirt much further off his body, Koga broke the kiss, allowing just enough time to pull off the offending shirt to land in a heap on the floor as he sought her lips once more.
Free to feel his hardened body, Jade's uninjured arm roamed the smooth, toned surface of his chest and stomach. Gently massaging and memorizing every square inch of what she could reach. As her fingers moved farther down his rock hard abs, Jade's fingers deftly worked the belt, knowing that she wanted to feel all of him, not just what was on display.
As Koga deepened his kiss, massaging her tongue with his, his fingers worked on the buttons of her shirt, careful as to not brush to hard against her injured shoulder or bruised ribs. In the back of his mind he knew that they should wait, to give Jade's body a chance to heal, but his inner demon wanted to claim her, all of her to show everyone that she was his and only his. As the final button became unfastened, Koga pulled his lips from Jade's pulling her gently forward so that he could remove her shirt. Biting her lower lip to keep from crying out in pain as her left shoulder and arm moved through the arm hole, Jade looked into the troubled azure eyes of her love.
Dressed in only the strapless bra, Koga gazed over the tanned skin of his true love. Pain crossed his azure eyes as he saw the bandages grace her left shoulder and braced lower arm. Bruises in various stages of manifestation covered her ribs and upper chest. 'Honey," he almost cried out, but came as a whisper from his lips. His fingers gently tracing his courting mark upon her neck, scarcely visible beneath the edge of the bandages.
Jade reach her hand to his face, tracing his strong jaw line as she replied, "I'll heal. They are only scratches." A slight smile crossed her face as she pulled him in for another kiss, only to have him wrap his arms around her in a loving embrace. His nose firmly planted into her shoulder as tears seemed to spring to his eyes at the thought of all the pain that she had been in during the attack.
"If only I had been there sooner," he thought, "Then none of this would have happened and she wouldn't be in this condition." As he shifted his position to take her into a more loving embrace, the thicker scent of the cur wafted nearby. Confusion quickly took over as his eyes landed upon the pillow and blanket that were sitting on the back of the couch. "Why would he have been here?" Koga thought as he tried to quickly rationalize the reason for Inuyasha's presence in Jade's home. "Didn't Ginta or Hakkaku say something about Miroku and his friend coming out last night?!" Koga thought quickly. "They wouldn't have been stupid enough to allow that mutt anywhere near my girl… would they?"
Sensing that something was wrong, Jade gently nudged the confused wolf as she asked, "Is something wrong?"
Shaking his head once again, Koga growled softly as he replied, "No… just thought I got that rotten smell again." Pulling away from her warm battered body, Koga gazed down at his woman, searching for any hint of betrayal as his azure eyes once more roamed over her lithe frame. Despite the bruises and healing scratches all he saw was her healthy, albeit a bit pale, tan skin. Her 'can't complain' sized chest heaved beneath the white strapless bra, begging to be released for his pleasures. The toned stomach quivered slightly as a cool breeze wafted through the cabin. The long sensuous legs curled around her also bore the faint beginnings of yet more bruises. In stark contrast to her healthy tan bore the ever present scars on her ankle, a prominent reminder of times past.
Lying back on the couch, her lips parted slightly as Koga continued his survey of her body, Jade thought of all that they had been through. Seeing the look of worry and pain cross his azure eyes she knew that he was thinking back to the time of her previous injury. Slowly she moved to a kneeling position on the couch, drawing his eyes to hers as she replied, "I know that there is more going on than you're saying. Please… let us talk about it in the morning. We've both had a long day and what we need is a good night's sleep."
Lowering his head to gently rest against her's, Koga saw the logic in what she said. Quickly he eased his arm down her back, pulling her right shoulder to his chest as he picked her up bridal style. Jade's eyes shown love as she gazed into his azure ones, welcoming his arms around her body as he moved up the stairs to the waiting loft. He moved her toward the bed, oblivious to the mussed up blankets and sheets, or the squawks of the rousted cats as he sets her down on the bed gently, near the middle.
As Jade laid back into the bed, her breath hitched in her throat at the look that crossed Koga's eyes of lust and desire. Quickly he descended upon her supine form trailing kisses up her flat abs to the edge of the white bra as he eased his form over her, his legs straddling hers as he continued his sensual assault of her body. Relishing the sensations coursing through her body as his hot kisses gently edged across cracked ribs, fresh bruises, scratches and cuts the oddly mixed sensations of pleasure and pain wracked her body. Tears of both ecstasy and pain streamed down her face as her hands moved toward her lover running her fingers through his short hair. Claws carefully scratched against bronze skin over a taught back as Koga continued his ministrations causing Jade to cry out for more.
Once he reached Jade's neck the scent of his rival permeated his senses. Seeing red Koga pushed off of Jade's supine form. "No… it cannot be!" he screamed in his mind. With a fierce growl, Koga jumped off the bed… off a half naked and thoroughly confused Jade.
Rolling onto her right shoulder, with a mixture of emotions crossing her face from shock to disappointment, Jade looked at Koga, seeing a similar play of emotions on his handsome features. "Koga… what's the matter… you've been acting weird all night!" Jade asked, love and concern pouring out of her as she spoke.
Koga growled audibly as he pointed a clawed finger at her, accusingly. "You know damn well, what's wrong! That damned mutt's scent is ALL over this place! What… the…Hell have you been doing while I was gone?!"
Jade sat up with a look of utter horror and shock gracing her features. "Koga, It's not what you think," she uttered, barely above a whisper, afraid of the implications that laced Koga's words.
"You're denying that you've been screwing around with that damned mutt behind my back!" Koga snarled.
Jade frowned, knowing what was coming next, wishing that she'd never accepted to take the said mutt's abused car into her shop. Moving toward, Koga on hand and knees, Jade replied, "I'd never betray your trust like that, Koga. It's not what you think. Please… let me explain…"
"What is there… to explain?! That you… had… a good time? That you… LIED… to me? That you betrayed… every ounce of… trust I had for you?!" he interrupted her, his voice steadily rising with each question until it was nearly a roar of anguish and pain.
Jade quickly slid off the bed to stand across from Koga. "Koga… Please, listen to… me!" she pleaded, as she walked toward Koga slowly, slowly becoming very afraid of her beloved wolf demon.
Koga backed up with each step she took towards him. "No! The evidence is here, Jade! You can't cover it up! His scent is on your bed… YOUR BED! What does that tell you?! Huh?!" He roared, shaking the armaments on the walls, causing an eerie rattling sound, as he waved his arm over the even more rumpled bed.
Jade felt the back of her eyes sting as she took another timid step toward the raging wolf demon, fear of loosing him surging through every fiber. Reaching out to him, Jade pleaded, "Koga, please... I didn't betray your trust; I would never do it willingly."
Koga growled as he retreated, this time down the stairs of the loft, back into the living room. Jade followed him down the stairs, tears threatening to stream from her azure eyes. "Koga, wait… Please… Hear me out!" she cried, the fear of him leaving slowly becoming a reality.
"Shut UP!" he bellowed, suddenly throwing everything that was on the coffee table onto the floor, shattering various small figurines and pictures into pieces of broken glass and rubble. Jade watched him in horror as the pain of his actions broke her heart, as the hurt crossed into her eyes. "Koga..." she cried out trying to reach the enraged wolf with her voice.
Koga's growls get even louder and soon turned into howls of hurt and betrayal. "I mean… HIS scent is everywhere… on the couch… in the kitchen… on the bed… Hell, he's even on your neck… ON YOUR NECK! How pray tell do you explain that?" Jade could hardly utter a word before more objects come crashing at her feet.
"Damn it Jade! I thought we had something here! Something that wouldn't be tainted by some half-breed mutt! I thought this was love!"
Jade let go of the almost long forgotten tough girl facade as two tears come trailing down her cheeks. "Koga, it is..." she tired to explain, only to be cut off.
"No it isn't! You wouldn't have done this, had it been!" he roared, as he grabbed his discarded shirt from the floor, shaking it free of any broken glass.
Slowly Jade walked up to Koga as he pulled his slightly mangled T-shirt back on, hoping to somehow stop his rampage, she tentatively reached her hand out toward his shoulder to comfort him… Only to have it smacked away by one of his clawed hands, causing her to bring back her hand and hold it to her chest, rubbing it to ease the pain. "Koga… Please… Just listen to me… for one minute!" she pleaded, torrents of tears trailing down her face.
Koga only growled and threw more objects toward her from the book shelf near the door, shattering on the steps, against the wall, and at her feet, causing broken bits of glass and pottery to cut deep into her unprotected legs. Failing to notice the blood seeping down her legs, ignoring the pain that wracked her body, Jade took a tentative step toward Koga, trying in vein to stop the inevitable.
"Fuck you!" he said, barely above a whisper, his throat sore from all the yelling, as he threw one more thing at her before storming out of her door… out of her house… and maybe her life… forever.
Jade watched as her boyfriend left with glassy eyes, tears running down her face as twin rivers before the pain in her chest, at the loss of her true love, consumed all rational thought. As an incredibly loud sob escaped her suddenly chapped, dried lips as she collapsed on the floor, among almost every broke shard of glass and pottery, imbedding them even deeper into her already bleeding legs, and chest oblivious to the physical pain.
She released another heart wrenching sob as Jade reached for one thing in particular that the raging wolf demon had thrown. A picture… It was the one of him and her… six months ago… right before her medical discharge. Things were so... much better then. When not on duty, the two were inseparable. He'd made sure that she wanted for nothing, helped her with her physical therapy to get back the use of her ankle, and loved her with all his heart.
The tears continuously trailed down her cheeks, as she holds the picture close to her chest, causing more glass to cut into her skin, as her shoulders quaked with each sob. Oblivious to the shards of glass cutting into her side as she curled up into the fetal position, holding this picture close to her. She'd never let go to what they had, what they meant to each other. This way, if Koga decided to leave her for good, she'd still have a part of him with her… the part that loved her… the part that didn't think she betrayed him… the part that didn't hate her.
