You can see chapter 18 as a 'turning point chapter'. The outcome of the story depends on how Aomine interacts / reacted in that moment in chapter 18.
When he wasn't patient enough and got angry with Kagami it resulted in Kagami falling under Hanamiya's brainwashing and a not very well thought out attack on Hanamiya.

This is route 1, so to say.

When Aomine manages to get along with Kagami, be patient and understanding and loving, the whole story gets another ending since Kagami 'joining' Hanamiya never happened.

Thus it's Route 2!

It was after the meeting and Aomine and Kagami were walking back to their room. The negotiations between his aunt and Akashi went smoothly - quite to Kagami's surprise since their personalities were universes apart. But their mutual hate for Hanamiya was apparently enough reason for them to accept their differences and work together like this.
Kagami was glad that they were at least getting along somewhat. The red-head really hoped it would all work out in their favour in the end.

He sneaked a peak at his companion, who was walking idly by his side but seemed to be completely fine. For once the blue-haired male didn't seem to be worried about the turn of events. He seemed almost relaxed and it made Kagami unbelievably happy. After all, they would be more than fine if they were together, he was sure of it.

The young vampire hadn't realized that he was staring at his mate until he noticed Aomine's self-satisfied smirk.

"Can't look away from my handsome face now, can you, Kagami?" Aomine stopped walking as he said that, irresistible smirk still in place. Kagami spluttered and his cheeks tinged a vibrant red.

"T-There's no way...!" the red-head also stopped walking and glared heatedly at his lover.

Aomine's eyes darkened suddenly and he started walking forward slowly, in a predatory kind of way. For each step he took towards Kagami, the other vampire would take one backwards. This game continued until Kagami's back hit the wall and two arms on either side of his head prevented any escape. Aomine's face was so close to his, he could feel his warm breath against his lips.

" 'There's no way' Really? 'Cause my eyes are constantly drawn to you." Kagami swore his heart stopped for a second, only to start working ten times faster than before.

"You're always on my mind..." their lips were almost touching now, Aomine's voice was barely above a whisper.
In that moment Kagami's patience simply snapped and he grabbed Aomine by the collar to pull him down into a passionate kiss. The older vampire's eyes widened slightly in surprise but soon closed in bliss. He sensually licked over Kagami's lower lip and nibbled gently, begging for entrance. Kagami opened his mouth almost immediately and moaned faintly when their tongues met. They briefly fought for dominance, but then Aomine's hand slipped under his shirt and he ever so gently ran his fingertips over his stomach. Kagami writhed under his skilled hands and a pleasant shiver ran down his spine. The red-head moaned wantonly into Aomine's mouth and the other used that chance to take control of the kiss. Kagami let himself be swept away by all the overwhelming sensations but he felt a burning desire surfacing within him and pulled Aomine even closer.

The need for air soon proofed to be a problem and they reluctantly pulled apart. The burning feeling increased, but Kagami still didn't know what it was exactly. He was still breathing hard and looked at Aomine with blazing and longing eyes.

But what was he longing for...?

"Ohhh." Aomine whistled lowly and had a knowing grin on his lips. "I already wondered when it would happen." Kagami just sent a confused look his way and furrowed his eyebrows.

"What do you mean...?" Aomine just continued to grin and pulled down his collar to expose his neck-area and Kagami felt that unexplainable desire even more than before. He unconsciously licked his lips and Aomine's eyes went wide.

"Wow, looks like your fangs are ready for use, huh?" at the questioning gaze he received in return Aomine reached up with one hand and gently tapped against one.
He pushed a bit more until his finger was pricked by the sharp tooth. Kagami immediately noticed the metallic smell and his tongue leaped out on instinct. He carefully licked over the small wound and the sweet taste spread on his tongue. He let out a humming sound in appreciation, the burning desire had calmed down a little bit.

Aomine smiled gently and moved back to Kagami's fang and intentionally cut his finger to allow more blood to flow from his 'injury'. Kagami responded almost instantly, his mouth closed around Aomine's forefinger and he licked around it before he started to gently suck. His face had turned a cherry red by now, he was embarrassed but even so...he couldn't deny that his partner's blood was delicious. Even if he wanted to Kagami doubted he would be able to stop.

Aomine had a hard time with the erotic sight bestowed upon him. He had to hold back his own burning desire to take Kagami then and there. The red-head surely wouldn't appreciate it.

"Kagami, are you really satisfied by this appetizer?" He pulled his finger away with a soft 'pop' and leaned down to give his lover a soft kiss. "Want to try the main course?" Aomine leaned his head to the side, a silent invitation.

Kagami's breath hitched in his throat, he leaned forward slowly and Aomine closed his eyes when he felt Kagami's fangs grazing over his skin. To his surprise the red-head did not sink his teeth into his neck straightaway, but gently kissed the chosen spot before he tentatively buried his canines in the soft skin and started to suck. Aomine moaned lowly at the foreign feeling, he hadn't let anyone have his blood before. It didn't hurt like he anticipated, instead it was a pleasant tingle and it made him light-headed. If this was how it felt to have your blood sucked, then he was more than willing.

Only for Kagami of course.

He felt a bit disappointed when Kagami pulled away, the nice feeling slowly vanishing, but he found himself no longer caring when Kagami's lips touched his own in a sweet kiss.

"I love you..." Kagami murmured quietly to him and Aomine leaned down to brush his lips against Kagami's once more.

"I love you too." the words tumbled out of his mouth so naturally, it was like it had been like this for a long time and Kagami smiled fondly at him.

"Come on...let's go." Aomine moved back a bit, took Kagami's hand into his own and pulled him along. But the red-head didn't move.

"Kagami...?" Aomine glanced at him in worry when he noticed the other's face was deathly pale. "What's wrong?"

"I...I don't know, I'm not feeling well all of a sudden..." Kagami trailed off and grabbed his head in pain. Aomine wanted to say something but suddenly he felt dizzy too.

"W-What? This isn't normal..." Could it be...? An enemy? Here?!

He saw how Kagami fell forward and tried to reach out to him but to no avail - he too blacked out.
