Firework
Doomsday
I was sitting in the lounge with Alaric and Tyler surrounded by weapons and clutching a hot cup of coffee. Night had fallen two hours ago, and we were playing a waiting game. We knew that they were out there, watching us thanks to my freaky vamp superpower. What we didn't know was why they hadn't attacked yet.
When I'd first come into the lounge earlier Alaric had tried to speak with me about what Elena had said. I didn't want to though. At the end of the day the house I'd called home was Elena's childhood home. If she didn't want me there I had to respect that. I didn't have to like it though.
Since then we'd mostly been in an uncomfortable silence.
"Four of them coming this way, the others are fanning out in a lost circle around the house." I called out in a voice only slightly louder than normal.
"Show time then." Alaric smiled at me before chucking me my gloves followed by a couple of vervain grenades. I was so thankful that I could now actually catch without breaking myself. Amazing what five months of continuous training, both with Alaric and the cheerleaders could do, like beat me out of a life time of clumsiness. Or almost anyway.
"Let's do this." Tyler looked excited for the fight and was loading himself up to look kind of like Rambo without the war paint. Not that I'd tell him that, he'd probably add the paint.
Our part of the attack plan was fairly simple. Throw the projectiles out of the windows and away from our friends and avoid being killed. Something the three of us were really on board with.
I wasn't worried about any of us, it was the others I was worried about. Damon, Stefan and Caroline were teaming up with Jasper, Emmett and Rosalie to take out Victoria and her baby vampires. Bonnie was going to help inside as well by taking down every vampire she saw. The enemy only I was hoping, but the witch really did hate vampires. A little odd if you considered that one of her best friends was one and that her other best friends were dating vampires.
"Chill Rocky, you'll be fine, nothing will hurt you while I'm around." Damon's voice came from behind me, that wonderful feeling of being safe and protected radiating off him.
"I'm not worried about me. I'm worried about all of you." I said turning to face him and catching his eye roll.
"Shocker." He snarked at me before putting on his serious face. "We'll be fine. We're kick ass and they… Sparkle. We'll beat Tinkerbell, and all be home in time for supper." I wished I had his confidence.
"They're here." I just replied as I felt the four that were leading the rest approach the front door.
"Have fun kiddies. TTFN." Damon smirked at us all then shot me a wink before blurring away.
We cautiously opened the windows making sure that after we opened the lock, we didn't put our arms out. Once we were over the threshold any of the vamps could grab us and drag us out after all. After they were open, we stood near a window each, watched, listened and waited. I could deal with the adrenaline, I could deal with the fear, but this waiting? That was what was driving me mad.
All of a sudden there was a cry, like the war cry that I had heard in movies and we could see a hoard of Cold Ones flashing towards us.
Heart beating in my chest I grabbed my first grenade, pulled the pin and launched it toward the group, it landed, and screams rose up. Two of the group ran away clutching at their bodies. The others while equally injured were more determined. They kept coming. Tyler and Ric were throwing grenades as well, there's landing true too.
It was like a war movie. They exploded, clods of earth were flying. Cold Ones hit the deck churning up more of the once beautiful grass. The Cold One's got back up and kept coming and we kept throwing the grenades. There was nothing they could do to avoid them seeing as how the vervain rose like a mist in the air.
"Stop!" I called suddenly as I felt three more Cold One's speed from where they'd been taking out others. "It's the Cullen's." Tyler and Ric ceased-fire instantly. We couldn't see what was going on. Or Ric and I couldn't anyway, I wasn't sure if Tyler could or not. I'd have to ask him once this was over. However, we could see limbs flying. I was hoping that was a good sign.
Everything seemed to be going well. I could tell that all the vampires on our side were alive. None of us had been killed as far as I knew, and the Cold One's were dwindling. But of course, since when has anything in my life ever been that easy.
"Bella…" A high-pitched voice sing-songed my name from the front door which stood open. My heart dropped. I checked my brain. Damon and Stefan were the other side of the house, Caroline was near the tree line, I could still see Emmett, Jasper and Rosalie. No-one else should have been outside so why was this voice so happy? Obviously, they knew they couldn't come in.
I walked slowly, my heart picking up it's pace as I entered the hall way to the beautiful Salvatore Boarding house, as soon as I saw the fiery red hair it tried to escape my chest. I had been terrified of this woman for a year now. And here she was, my own personal walking nightmare made flesh.
"Hello Bella." Her voice was so high and girly, nothing like how I'd expected. She looked so fierce, so feline, wild and rough that I expected her voice to growl. Instead it tinkled out. "I've been looking forward to seeing you again."
"Can't say the same." I replied, my voice not holding any of the terror I was feeling. "What's the plan from here then Vicky? You aren't getting an invite in and I'm not coming out…" I raised my eyebrows and crossed my arms before smirking at her as she started shaking in anger. I was letting out my inner Damon. "Plus, it looks like my friends are kicking your friends' butts."
"You, will, pay for what you did to James." She hissed at me, her hair seeming to curl and dance around her head with her anger, giving life to the image of a halo of flames wrapped around her face.
"You do know I didn't do anything right?" I replied. "I'm human."
"YOU WILL PAY!" I thought that she was probably passed all rational thought now.
"Okay." I replied with a shrug before turning my back on her to walk back into the living room.
"Isabella." Victoria said, her voice happier now. That couldn't be good.
"Yeah Vicky?" I was trying hard not to let on just how much she really did scare me. I couldn't do much about how fast my heart was beating but I damn sure could keep a mask in place, so it didn't show on my face.
"Would you come out now?" She almost purred. My heart dropped as I spun on the ball of my foot back to face her.
She had Elena, her hand clamped over the brunette's mouth, the other holding her by the throat. Tears were dripping down Elena's face as her eyes were trying to tell me something. I had no idea what though. She was struggling but I knew from personal experience it was of no use.
"Trade? Your life for hers?" Victoria said with malice burning in her bright red eyes.
"You'll let her go, alive?" I clarified, my voice weak. I just hoped one of them would get to me before she ripped my head off, Damon's blood wouldn't do a lot to save me then.
"Of course." I didn't trust her for some reason.
"Okay, deal." I said my heart pounding and my feet feeling like lead as I walked to what would probably be my death. "You let her go. I'll come out."
"No, no, no. You'll just stay inside, I wasn't born yesterday." Victoria was the one smirking now. "As soon as you come outside, I'll let her free."
"Yeah I'm not stupid. You'll kill her."
"I'm a woman of my word Isabella. You come out here and I will let this girl walk free back into sanctuary." Victoria said, her eyes were lit up a bright blood red that matched her hair.
Elena was struggling still and very obviously trying to scream at me. It was no use. This was the one thing I'd been more scared of than anything. Someone else dying in my place. Someone else getting hurt instead of me, because of me. And if there was one tiny little bit of hope that Victoria wasn't a lying bitch then I had to take it.
"Okay." I said, my voice now holding the fear that I couldn't suppress.
I took a deep breath and stepped outside to meet my death.

3RD Person P.O.V.
Damon let his instincts take over as he, Stefan and Caroline stepped out. He didn't care about witty rejoinders or scathing sarcasm, all he cared about was ending the threat to his Isabella. No one would hurt her while he was around, he'd given her his word.
He let his inner beast be shown on his face and delighted in the fear the four Cold Ones felt when they saw a true monster for the first time. Not giving them a second to gather themselves he was on the first one. He planted a foot in the mans chest grabbed hold of his arms and yanked, enjoying the screeching of the flesh as it ripped away. He then beheaded the Cold One, chucking the body parts in opposite directions till they could start a bonfire later.
He turned to his next victim as Caroline and Stefan were finishing off their kills. He would say fights but there was no fight, no challenge.
Together the three 'traditional' vampires rounded the East side of the house where a collection of newborns were gathering trying unsuccessfully to get in via the windows. They were confused and every couple of seconds one of them would go down screaming with a headache. It was almost musical.
Damon quickly got into a rhythm. Grab head, twist, yank, throw. Grab head, twist, yank, throw. It was almost soothing. He heard Caroline and Stefan pulling limbs off discarded torso's behind him as he walked but he paid them no mind. He was listening out carefully for any noise that may have been Wildcat in distress or Victoria. He would make her pay for everything she'd put his Wildcat through and everything she wanted to do to his Isabella, and it would damn well hurt.
"Shit!" Damon hissed out as one of the newborns got lucky and he got bit on the arm. That fucking stung and made him angrier. He wrenched the lucky bastards head of with minimal effort and a roar of triumph. Suddenly the area around Stefan, Caroline and him was free of Vampires. They'd all run. He'd catch them. He'd get every single last one of them and watched as they burnt.
"What do we do with these?" Caroline asked him, gesturing to the small pile of headless and limbless torsos, her vampire visage still on as well, he could detect a hint of fear in her voice, but she was keeping it together none the less. It was impressive given her age to this life.
Instead of answering Damon chucked her a zippo lighter. There would be no surrender, no mercy, no survivors.
Together they silently grabbed all the limbs and piled them on top of the torsos. A moment later and purple smoked curled around them, the scent sickeningly sweet.
Damon watched for a second to make sure that they all caught and were burning before he turned his back and left heading to kick some more sparkly ass.
A female darted in front of the dark head vampire and he didn't hesitate, just ripped off her head and tossed it towards the tree line. He'd never given into his animal quiet like this before and it was freeing. He'd never felt so much power swim through him. The nearest he'd ever come to this feeling of being hole and being at peace with himself was when he was with Isabella. That thought brought on another wave of anger that he embraced. He rounded the corner of his house and saw some more of the newborns.
As he started ripping and tearing, he wondered how it'd feel to take Isabella carnally while drinking down her exquisite nectar, if he'd feel as powerful and right as this? If it'd feel more so? Or if he'd have a different feeling altogether? She was one of the only things in his life that wasn't predictable, he was sure what ever happened when he finally did sink into her warmth, he wouldn't be prepared for it.
Fucker! He roared. Yet another one of the lucky pricks had managed to take a bite out of him. Thank fuck he healed quickly, and their kind couldn't scar him. He roared again, enjoying the release of his pain and anger before beheading the newborn. He was barely giving them a thought now. It was almost soothing.
"Ahhh!"
Damon's blood ran cold. His muscles froze and seemed to clench as he unleashed himself towards the scream. He exploded like never before and ran faster than he'd ever ran. Though his brain seemed to have shut down with his terror.
That scream belonged to his Wildcat. Someone had somehow got to her.
Everyone would die.
Everyone would burn.
Foe. Friend. Vampire. Human. Everything would burn.
He would burn the world and then when he'd finished, he'd willingly walk into the fire.
In a blink of an eye he was there, he saw Isabella being held by a red head, her arm at a funny angle and a slash down her face.
The red head dropped her and smiled, her leg raised over Isabella's collar bone.
Damon released a furious, ferocious roar at the same time another issued from inside the house.
Before Damon could move a huge, russet coloured beast was launching itself from the house onto the red head. It was huge, Damon was surprised it managed to fit through his doors. The tackle took the vampire and shifter away from Isabella where they could safely fight. Damon didn't stop to watch, he couldn't care less. He just wanted to get Isabella safe. Then he'd fuck that bitch up. She'd be begging for mercy. None would be given.
"You see that Tyler? That's a fucking werewolf!" Damon couldn't help himself saying as he darted to Wildcat.
He reached her and bent down with as much of a smile as he could right then. "Let's get you inside Rocky." He was pissed at her, but he'd rail her out when she wasn't bleeding and broken, he'd fix her up first.
She smiled up at Damon and the relief that she felt at seeing him was actually tangible. It tasted like warm sunshine. "Are you okay?" She asked him, her words coming out in pained gasps.
Damon rolled his eyes. "Of course, I am, I told you Rocky, we'd be done in time for supper. You however-"
"Ahh! Damon!" Bella's scream tore the air as she watched someone twist his head from behind snapping his neck. "Damon!" She screamed again, she couldn't think – he couldn't be- he told her the only way to kill one of his type was a steak, beheading or fire. Right? He couldn't-
"Damon!"
She tried to move to him, ignoring the figure who'd done this as they came to her, also ignoring the pain she felt when she moved. Physical pain she could deal with.
"Damon!" The tears were spilling down her cheeks thick and fast.
"It's okay. He's gone now. I'll look after you Bella."
She'd managed to get a hand to him before she was snatched up and whisked away at speed.
Her scream of pain could be heard for miles.

Jasper smiled as he, his brother and sister headed into battle. He knew this. This was easy. Newborns were easy. You grabbed one tore off everything and anything then moved onto the next while staying out of reach of their arms and teeth. Fuckers would bite you something fierce if they could. Would also shred you much like he was doing to them, though with less finesse.
He heard Bella yelling at her companions to stop throwing those grenade things and was thankful. They looked like they burnt like a mother fucker and he'd rather not experience that. The humans here were innovative, he'd sure give them that. They also cared about each other almost as fiercely as his family did. It was refreshing.
He heard a roar coming from the other side of the house. It was almost enough for him to be glad he couldn't shit himself anymore. He sure as shit didn't need to be sending these newborns anymore terror. Jasper would've put money on the fact that it had been Damon. He wasn't sure who would win in a fight between the two of them, he liked to think it would be close. However, he was now very glad that for the minute they were on the same side. Scary ass motherfucker.
The newborns fought hard but at the end of the day they were just no match for Jasper. They very obviously hadn't been trained and it seemed as though none of them had an advantageous or active gift.
Out of the corner of his eye as he was battling two newborns who were trying to work together he saw the dark-haired Salvatore come around the corner of the huge house. The vampire was the devil incarnate. His black hair made his white skin seem to glow and his eyes were pools of burning fire. A small vicious smirk was on his face as he effortlessly beheaded anyone he came across. Jasper got his first bite of the night as a shiver of fear that he couldn't contain rolled down his spine. He snarled at the lucky bitch before tugging her head off with a lot of effort. Once again Jasper couldn't help himself thinking that they were lucky Damon was on their side. That and that the Salvatore was fucking terrifying.
All that relief was for nought not two minutes later a scream wrenched the air. "Ahhh!"
Jasper had been to Hell, he'd walked through it, commanded its armies and walked out alive. For over a hundred years Jasper had fought, had earnt every single one of his nicknames, had earnt the fear of the vampire population and had bathed in it. Damon however was the demon that was locked in the cage of Hell never to be released. The one you didn't go near, didn't speak of and never acknowledged. This was Satan come to earth.
Jasper shook at the emotions coming off Damon. If the worst had happened to Bella then there would be no where to hide, no where to run. Damon would destroy everything.
Jasper quickly dispatched the last of the attacking newborns. The fear and anger he felt spurning him on. As quickly as they could the three Cullen's followed after Damon.
They were just in time to see their red headed brother snap the dark vampire's neck.
Jasper was knocked to his knees at the anguish coming off Bella. She'd always felt emotions hard for a human, but this was the same level of devastation that a vampire would feel over losing their mate. It was heart wrenching and Jasper could do nothing but sink to the ground as he literally felt her heart break.
"Edward! What are you doing!?" He heard Rosalie snap, her voice wavering slightly as Edward picked up the heart broken woman lying at his feet as she tried valiantly to get to Damon.
Edward's head snapped to them for a brief moment before he scooped her up and ran with her towards the forest.
"Jasper?" Emmett growled, his anger and confusion were waves lapping against Jasper as he started to recover from Bella's emotions.
"Go after them. I'll see about Damon. Get Bella back no matter what. If you must then tear him limb from limb. I'll be there as soon as I can." Jasper barked his orders. But he wanted no hesitation as to what they needed to do. This was war and Isabella was the one they needed to be protecting.
Jasper went to Damon as Emmett and Rose flashed away. Isabella's scream echoing loud around the area. It was loud enough to have been heard from town. Jasper's venom ran icy.
He sent alertness and adrenaline to Damon as he approached cautiously yet quickly. Time was obviously of the essence. He was almost certain that snapping their neck wasn't enough to kill an original vampire. But he was also fairly sure that it probably wasn't something they got up from quickly either.
Jasper was torn, go after Bella or try to wake her protector? If he didn't wake Damon and Damon woke while he was trying to save Bella, then he might as well sign his own death warrant. If he didn't help save Bella and Damon woke, then he may have just signed his death warrant. Either way he was fucked three ways to Sunday and he didn't fuckin' like it.
Jasper pushed all the adrenaline, alertness and tension he could towards the dark-haired vampire while laying a hand on his shoulder.
Damon's eyes shot open just as another scream tore the air.
Damon had vanished before Jasper could open his mouth. Jaspers eyes closed in a brief moment of pain as his shoulder was torn with the force, but he gathered his injured arm to him, pressed it to the open wound and ran towards the screaming. Praying to a God he wasn't sure existed that this wouldn't be the last day the earth saw.
Don't kill me! I'll try and get another one out soon! Hope you enjoyed it! Until next time. TTFN.
