And there he was, following Lydia as she ordered him around and made him suffer through dress shopping. And the only thing he could think about or focus on was Luna.
He was so frustrated and worried. Here he was with the girl he had had a crush on since he could remember and the only thing that occupied his mind was how one of his two best friends was M.I.A. Even Lydia trying on dresses that left nothing to his vivid imagination wasn't enough of a distraction.
All he could think about was one thing. 'Where the hell is Luna?'
I had been sitting in that dank torture cellar, room for over 24 hours.
The humor and the sarcasm had left me hours ago and my body had become achingly numb. I was ready to leave that was for sure.
'If we'll ever leave.' My wolf thought bitterly.
I scoffed and rolled my eyes.
'Do you ever get tired of talking?'
'Do you ever get tired of being weak and submitting when it gets difficult?' she bit back.
'Well there's not much we can do, and I would appreciate it if you'd keep your negative thoughts to yourself.'
'I am,' She growled
I sighed and leaned my head back up against the metal bars behind me.
Kate sat in a chair with her back turned to Derek and I. She was at the table where all of the torture devices were placed. The bitch huntress had just finished on Derek and before that, me.
We took turns when one was healing the other one was feeling all kinds of pain, and then she would ask questions and then fill the next person with electricity or other ways of pain. It was annoying.
A shrill ringing noise rang through the room. Kate reached forward and looked at the caller ID. I couldn't see who it was. My vision was too blurry and I was too tired.
It rang a few more times before beeping. Kate picked up the phone and pressed several buttons.
'Please enter your security code' The female robotic voice said.
'You have one new message from… Chris Argent.'
"Hey, it's me. I'm getting tired of leaving message. I want to know where you are. Call me, now."
Kate sighed and turned the phone off. "Unfortunately, Derek, Lupine, If you won't talk, I'm just going to kill you both, but first I'm going to have to kill your girlfriend and make you watch. Then I'll kill you." I didn't bother correcting her, knowing that it didn't matter. I was about to be killed by the psychotic bitch named Kate. Her calling me Derek's girlfriend was the least of my worries.
Kate stood from her reclined position on her seat and sauntered over to my sitting position. I stared at her boots, refusing to look at her.
The sound of a knife being pulled from a sheathe made my hackles rise in fear though my face remained pointed down and my hair veiled it.
She leaned down and brought the knife to my throat and I finally looked up at her with cold green eyes, and refused to look away from hers. Fear coursed through me as she gradually put more pressure until the skin was about to brake. The blade was laced with wolvesbane, and if the sickly sweet smell coming off of it wasn't a dead giveaway, the burning of my skin was.
"It's too bad Derek didn't get to tell his sister all about you like he did me," She smirked but the smirk was wiped away with a curious glaze.
"You did tell your sister about me, right? The truth about the fire? Or did you?" She gasped in a mocking manner while she stood, pulling the knife away from my pale throat. I shoulders slumped in relief and the tension bled out of me like a wave.
The argent sheathed her knife as she stalked up to Derek with a smirk. "Did you tell anybody?" she hissed. "Oh, sweetie, that's just a lot of guilt to keep buried. It's not your fault, you got tricked by a pretty face," she giggled. "It happens!"
She stepped away from Derek and placed a hand on her hip. "Handsome young werewolf mistakenly falls in love with a super hot girl, who comes from a family that kills werewolves."
I snorted in disgust and loathing at the cockiness of her tone.
"Is that ironic? Is it ironic that you're inadvertently helping me track down the rest of the pack again? Or just a little bit of history repeating?" She grinned and walked back over to me while pulling out the knife and placed it to my throat again.
The smirk turned into a thoughtful look. "History repeating," she said quietly. "It's not Jackson is it?" My eyes widened as I realized what she had just figured out.
"No, no, no. Jackson's got a little scratch on the back of his head but he's not in love with Allison. Not like Scott."
The weakness I had disappeared entirely and was replaced by crazed desperation. My eyes flashed and my elongated as I lunged and snapped my teeth by her face. The handcuffs held me back, but they weren't going to last. She jumped back and stood up in surprise and fear. A smirk painted itself back onto her face.
"Looks like I was right."
The snapping of bones, and metal cuff started echoing through my would-be prison as my wolf began to take over more and more.
Through my rage filled vision I saw Kate quickly walk over to the amps and with a twist of her hand the dial was turned up all the way.
An animalistic scream bellowed through the cell and I lost all control and in that moment I was brought back to Jason staring at me with fear. I could remember my muzzle enclosing around his throat, his warm blood flowing into my mouth, the savage feeling of satisfaction of knowing I held the power over his life, or what was left of it anyway.
The image faded and I was lying on my shoulder and all I couldn't focus on anything. I was numb, numb to everything. In the background I could hear a voice calling my name but it sounded like I was under water or a million miles away. I didn't want to focus on anything though.
"How could you be so selfish! You've ruined everything I've built here for us!"
"Dad, let me explain! I can explain."
"Silence! Pack your things we're leaving in the next twelve hours. You've ruined everything."
A pained sob ripped through my throat as I came back to my senses, and another one, and another. But I didn't care. I didn't care that, that Argent bitch's knife was embedded into my leg or that Derek kept saying my name over and over. I didn't care.
I was a monster. I killed, I murdered, I deserved Kate's knife…
But Scott didn't. He was innocent, and he deserved every chance to continue living and I was going to help him, even if all I wanted was to go back to my old life.
After the sobbing receded I laid there for several minutes.
'Did we shift?'
'We didn't get that far.'
"Luna," Derek whispered.
I made no signs of acknowledgement but he knew I was listening.
He sighed loudly and it was silent except for the dripping of water and our breathing.
"You don't realize what I have been through these past six years. Knowing that I'm the reason my family was burned alive. Peter wanted the same this as I do, revenge. He gave me more power and I wasn't about to throw away that opportunity, that chance of vengeance." He growled.
"Why are you telling me this?" I muttered.
"Because I need you to know why I joined the alpha."
"Why do you care if I know."
"Because I-," he was cut off by a loud piercing howl only audible to those with supernatural hearing AKA Derek and I.
Derek paused and after a few seconds of pondering he threw his head back and replied.
His howl was louder than anything I had ever heard. It caught me by surprise and I threw my hands up to my ears causing me to realize I was no longer chained to the bars.
Derek finished and took a deep breath in. Once he had regained his breathe he looked down at me.
"He's close."
I nodded and with a deep breath I grabbed onto the hilt of the knife and pulled it out of my thigh. I hissed in pain and dropped the knife. It landed with a clatter.
The wolvesbane wouldn't affect me for a couple of days if not more I knew that and sighed in relief. I grabbed the collar and ripped it off with an overly aggressive jerk.
"Good."
At the sound of footstep coming down the tunnel I ducked into the shadows and hid. I wasn't sure if it was Kate, the brute, or Scott, but I wasn't going to let them surprise me. It would be the other way around.
The door opened with a loud groan and in stepped the brute. He stepped over to the large spotlight and flipped it on. He had the customary smirk that I had come to know on all of these damn hunter's faces.
"Ready to have some more fun? To be honest, my knuckles are kind of hurting. So I brought some help," He said while raising a bat. "Hey where's your bitch?"
I was in front of him in the blink of an eye with my eyes glowing and my teeth and claws sharp and long.
"Right here, bastard," and without a second thought my claws were brought across his throat leaving long red lines that had blood squirting out.
He dropped to the floor with a thud and his heart went silent.
"Luna, you-."
"Your eyes aren't gold either," I growled as my feature returned to normal.
I walked over to the table and grabbed all of my stuff and dressed quickly. The leather made me sigh in content. And then I saw something that had been gone for almost a week.
"My phone," I grabbed it and flipped it open.
'That's a lot of missed calls,' My wolf drawled.
'And text messages.'
"Scott." Derek said.
I didn't bother turning around as I scrolled through the text messages and one caught my eye in particular.
'We need to talk.' -Colton
What did my brother want?
"Help me with this," Derek said as he ripped off the tape and cords.
"No." Scott replied.
I turned and faced him in surprise. He looked like he had been dragged through ten types of crap. Not that I looked much better
"What?" Derek stage whispered.
"Not until you tell me how to stop Peter."
"You really want to talk about this right now?" Derek asked in disbelief
"He's going after Allison and her family. He's going to kill them." Scott said lowly.
"So what?" He shouted.
"So tell me how to stop him." Scott's voice was calm and steady despite the angry Beta stilled chained.
"You can't! All right? Now…" He shook the chains that still held him. "I don't know when Kate's coming back, so just get me out of this right now!" He demanded. "Get me out of this right now!" his anger grew and he shook the chains some more.
"Promise you'll help me."
"You want me to risk my life for your girlfriend, huh? For your stupid little teenage crush that means absolutely nothing? You are not in love Scott! You are sixteen years old. You are a child!"
"Enough! You have me Scott. I want to see this through with you. Child or not Allison doesn't deserve to die. I know someone else that does though." I muttered the last part. "Let's go." I began walking towards the door with Scott following.
"Luna!" Derek shouted.
"You left me Derek, I'm returning the favor. Besides we can't trust you to help us. You'd sooner stab us in the back then stay true to your word."
It was silent as Derek and I stared each other down. His green eyes shone with something I couldn't understand but I didn't turn away.
"Maybe Derek's right." Scott muttered. "But I know something he doesn't." He turned his attention away from me and onto Derek. "Peter said he didn't know what he was doing when he killed your sister, right? He lied." Scott reached into his jacket and pulled out a crumpled up paper. It was an article that had a picture of a deer with a spiral engraved into it.
"Remember this? This is what brought your sister back to Beacon Hills, right?"
"Where did you get that," Derek asked in a hushed tone.
"My boss told me three months ago someone came into the clinic asking for a copy of this picture. DO you want to know who it was? Peter's nurse. They brought her here so Peter could kill her and become the alpha, and that's why you're going to help me."
It was silent except for Derek's heavy breathing. He was angry, pissed actually. He wrapped the chain around his arm tighter and clenched it. Scott turned around dejectedly and began speaking.
"Just say you'll help me and I'll help you unlock your other…" he was cut off by the sound of clattering metal.
Derek was covered in sweat and blood. He rubbed his wrist where the cuff had rubbed raw and I watched as it healed before my eyes.
"I'll help you." I tried to control the smile that threatened to erupt and looked down.
Who cared if Derek finally decided to do good again? I didn't.
'That's a lie.'
'Shut up.'
I grabbed Derek's shirt and jacket and walked over to him making sure I didn't step on the dead body.
"Here," I held out his clothes and avoided his gaze. I had been a major bitch to him. Granted he deserved it and he was usually a massive dick to me, but I still felt a little guilty.
"I'll be waiting out here." Scott turned and shut the door behind him before we could say anything.
"Look I can't pretend that you didn't screw over Scott and Stiles and… me. But I also can't pretend that I don't care and that I don't feel anything for you. and I just want you to know that whatever happens tonight I won't ever regret meeting you. head and heart aches included. I lo- like you. I care about you a lot." I muttered lowly self conscious that Scott might be listening and also because I kind of wanted Derek to not be able to hear me.
I was caught off guard when I was shoved up against the bars with an unnecessary amount force. I wasn't paying attention to that though, I was paying attention to the intensity of his green eyes, his bare chest against me. My lips parted and we were both breathing deeply as we stared at each other, waiting for something.
"Derek?"
"You can trust me."
And then his lips were on mine and mine were on his. It was a crazed kiss full of passion and need.
I wrapped my arms around his neck and threaded my fingers through his thick hair he shuddered as I pulled. His arm was wrapped around my waist while the other was around my shoulders while his hand threaded through my dark hair. Then his other hand was moving and he lifted me so my legs were wrapped around his waist.
I couldn't get enough of him. It was an insane addicting feeling and I couldn't handle the emotion running through me so I focused it all into that kiss, and so did he.
And no matter how good it felt to kiss him I couldn't shake the feeling that it would be the last time. With that thought in mind I pushed myself even closer so are bodies had no space in between. Derek pulled me closer and continued to kiss me with an insane amount of passion.
We broke away for air but didn't separate. Our foreheads were pressed together and our lips were only centimeters apart.
"I love you."
We all walked down the halls in a close manner leaning on each other.
Scott asked about the body and I just said he deserved it. He didn't ask anymore.
Derek and I walked together, touching. We had to be touching one part of each other. Hands arms legs as long as one part of us was in contact we were fine. It was weird but not unwelcomed.
We walked down the tunnel in silence and baited breath. Each one of us tensing as we came to the door. We were all expecting something to be waiting for us but as Scott went out, then Derek, then me. Nothing happened. It was completely silent and instantly my hackles rose. Something wasn't right.
As we walked up the small hill towards the Hale house Derek's breathing became shallower.
"Derek are you okay?"
He shook his head and looked up towards the stars as he tried to catch his breath. I grabbed his hand and he looked back down at me. I breathed in a deep breath and like the night he was shot his pain coursed through me and left him. He nodded in thanks and I smiled and let go of his hand, instead wrapping my arm around his waist for support.
Scott turned and looked back at us in worry. We all felt it. The suspenseful feeling in the air. It made the hairs on my arms raise and I knew we weren't just being paranoid.
"Something doesn't feel right." I let go of Derek and gave him a little room. It was getting to hot even though it was the middle of the night and we could see our breath.
"What do you mean," Scott asked in worry.
"I mean something doesn't feel right." Derek stated.
"It's kind of like getting out of there," I was cut off by Scott's frantic voice.
"No! Don't say 'too easy!" Scott exclaimed in horror.
"Well?" I threw my hands up and looked around. "I feel like there should be guns pointing at us, but there's nothing it's too-."
"No! People say too easy and bad things happen. What, do you thing finding you guys was easy? Finding out you never showed up at my house and no one knew where you were? Getting away from Allison's dad? None of this has been easy! So if things are going right for, like, two seconds, can we just not question it? Can we just shut up and thank God that we finally have the tiniest bit of luck for once?"
It was silent after Scott had finished ranting and Derek and I stared at him in surprise. Derek shook his head in defeat and sighed.
"Fine, you're right."
"Thank you!" Scott threw his head and sighed.
Suddenly there was a whistling noise that filled the air which was followed by a thud. Derek hit the ground with a thud.
"Derek!" I went to run for him as he sat up but something hit my leg with a whoosh. I hit the ground with a yell. It was right where Kate's knife had been.
"Luna!" Derek moved towards me and yelled. "Cover your eyes!"
I threw my leather arm up to my eyes just in time. It sounded like a firework going off right above me. I heard Scott hit the ground and then felt Derek above me. He groaned loudly and I heard the arrow that was in his arm thud to the ground. He must have pulled it out.
Then I felt a pressure on my leg and as fast as I could I sat up and looked down at my leg right as Derek ripped the arrow out of my thigh. I bit back a scream and clenched my teeth.
'it's healing. It's healing.' I kept repeating to myself.
'Help, Scott!'
I crawled over to Scott then stood in a hunched position with Derek behind me. I grabbed the collar of Scott's jacket and started dragging him with Derek's help.
I made it to the clearing before my leg gave out and I was sent sprawling to the floor. Derek stopped and let go of Scott before moving to me.
"Scott, go!" he yelled frantically.
"Come on, Luna, get up!" Derek growled.
I tried pushing myself up but they gave out on me too. I growled in frustration, the small adrenaline rush I had going was gone entirely leaving me completely worn out. The days I spent without food or water were catching up with me and I could feel the aconite moving through my veins slowly. It was too late anyway. Our hunters had caught up with us.
I looked up and what I saw made the air in my lungs leave with a whoosh. Allison stood with a bow in her hands. She raised the bow and then I realized why I had thought she looked so familiar.
"Welcome to Beacon hills, " She mocked. Her boot then crushed my wind pipe, and I began gasping for air. She pulled back another arrow.
"I hope you enjoy your stay." She sneered as she let go of the arrow.
"Allison, I can explain," Scott pleaded as he pushed himself to a sitting position.
"Stop lying," she spat as she sauntered over to Scott passing Derek and I. "For once, stop lying.
"I was going to tell you the truth at the formal," he said as he pushed himself towards the burned house. "I was going to tell you everything. Because everything that I said, everything that I did,-"
"Was to protect me." Allison finished.
"Yes!"
"I don't believe you."
"Thank God. Now shoot him before I have to shoot myself." Kate said as she walked towards us four.
I couldn't help the fear that sparked inside me. I hated it. I hated her.
Allison swung around in surprise. "You, you said we were just going to catch them?"
"We did that. Now we're going to kill them." Then she pulled out again and proceeded to shoot Derek in the chest.
In panic I sat up quickly and grabbed him as he fell to the ground with a yell.
"Derek." I shouted in fear.
"Shut up, bitch," she said before shooting me in the abdomen.
I screamed in pain and fell back.
"See? not hard." She continued walking towards Scott and Allison, and not for the first time that day I felt completely useless.
"Oh, no," she groaned. "I know that look. That's the 'you're going to have to do it yourself' look." With a smirk she turned towards Scott and aimed the gun at his head.
"Kate, Kate what are you doing?" Allison frantically grabbed her arm but Kate just pushed her away sending Allison into the leaf covered ground.
"I love those brown eyes," She clicked her tongue.
"Kate!" Everyone's gaze swung over to the new addition of the fight. It was Chris Argent, and I didn't know whether to be afraid or grateful for the distraction.
"I know what you did. Put the gun down." She didn't.
"I did what I was told to do."
"No one asked you to murder innocent people. There were children in that house, ones who were human. Look what you're doing now! You're holding a gun at a 16-year-old boy with no proof he spilled human blood. We go by the code." He bit out before speaking in French.
"We hunt those who hunt us." Allison translated.
Kate turned back to Scott and began squeezing the trigger.
"Put the gun down." Chris demanded with his gun raised at her too.
Kate stared at him in surprise and then in challenge. But that look quickly changed as a bullet went through the tree behind her and ricocheted. Everyone stared at him in complete disbelief and shock.
"Before I put you down." Kate lowered her gun finally and I let out a loud breath of air, thankful that Scott wasn't about to die. By Kate's hand anyway.
My relief was short lived however. The door to the once large house creaked open and the familiar smell of the alpha penetrated the air.
"Allison, get back," Chris demanded and the Argent siblings aimed their guns at the door. Allison stepped back in fear not that I blamed her. I did blame her for the arrow that had been in my leg.
"What is it?" her voice shook as the door opened wider.
"It's the alpha." Scott said as he stood up and looked at the door. Allison raised her compound bow following everyone's lead. I sat back up and moved closer to Derek.
A dark flash ran out the door and in less than a minute everyone was on their backs.
Chris first. He was knocked out instantly. Allison second. Her bow was sent flying in the opposite direction.
"Derek come on." Derek groaned and sat up slowly as rain began to pelt down on us.
"Come on!" my attention was brought back to Kate as she spun in circles in search of the alpha. I subconsciously leaned towards Derek so we were leaning against each other.
"Come on," she repeated.
Then Peter was standing in front of her. He grabbed her wrist and brought it above his head causing her to fire off a round that ricocheted off a nearby tree.
She grunted as she tried to get her arm back and aim it at the alpha. Another round lit up the area before peter quickly brought his other hand back and hit her arm.
Snap! The sound of Kate's arm breaking and then her screaming was cut off as he wrapped his long fingers around her throat and threw her towards the house.
Kate landed with a loud thud and before she could stand back up, Peter was dragging her kicking and screaming into his burnt down home.
"No!" Allison screamed before running after her aunt.
I cautiously stood, testing my wounds. Kate's bullet had gone straight through and was now healed, and where Allison's arrow had reopened my earlier wound was now scabbed over.
I looked to my right and saw Derek was standing too.
"Let's go," he nodded his head toward the door and as we walked to the house the smell of human blood suddenly pulsed through the air along with Allison's screaming.
I started running towards the house. Scott had already ran in and Chris was lying unconscious in the dirt. I wasn't worried about him though.
We entered the house and walked into the room where the smell of blood was the strongest.
Kate laid at the feet of Peter with eyes wide and unseeing and blood flowing out of the long gashes on her neck. Allison was crying and Scott was growling and wolfed out. So was Derek.
"Run," Scott growled and Allison went the other direction.
My wolf started to claw her way to the surface and my eyes began to glow. Teeth and claws extended as I crouched and prepared to attack.
Scott moved first then Derek. They both went running towards the alpha. Peter was prepared though. He grabbed both of them and they were sent flying in different directions. I took that as an opportunity and moved behind him and swiped at his back. He growled in pain and turned towards me just as Derek stood back up and tried to claw at him.
The alpha turned and hit Derek in the chest before throwing him again into a table to the right. The alpha turned and tried to hit me but I dodged and moved back. Scott used that as a distraction and jumped onto Peter's back, wrapping his arms around his neck. Peter threw him off at me and like dominoes we hit the ground.
I pushed Scott off and jumped up ready for another attack. Scott was ahead of us though and he attacked. The alpha pushed him to the ground and then sent him skidding across the floor.
Derek bounded towards him and jumped, doing a flip in the air. He used his foot and kicked the alpha in the face sending him back several steps. Derek landed in a crouch and growled up at the alpha.
I stole Scott's move and jumped onto Peter's back. He grabbed my jacket and threw me into Derek sending us into the wall. I rolled off of the Beta with a groan. Scott attacked and the alpha grabbed him and threw him at us.
I looked up and saw the alpha's face morphing into something more animalistic.
He was losing control and I wasn't that far behind him.
Derek jumped out of the pile of Scott and I and jumped onto the furniture beside us. On all four he ran towards the alpha. He leapt and Peter grabbed him an sent him into a shelf causing it to fall to pieces. I could tell by his slowed heart beat, he was unconscious.
It was Scott's turn and in the alpha's distraction, he got a hit, and another. But the alpha was a tough bastard and grabbed Scott and through him into the wall. He drew his clawed hand back to hit him but I was up and I grabbed it.
Scott moved and I shoved the alpha into the wall. I pushed him twice and got a few hits before Peter's wolf took over and slammed him elbow into my face. I stumbled back and tripped. Scott jumped in and took my place.
Peter wrapped his hand around Scott's neck and threw him into the next room by the stair case.
From my position on the floor I watched as Peter hunched over in pain, and began panting. His bones began to crack and his body began to morph. He was changing into the beast we all knew him to be. His clothes were reduced to shreds and they fell to the floor as he stood from his hunched position.
Scott jumped up and sprinted towards him only to be grabbed and viciously thrown out the window. The sound of shattering glass and wood filled the air. Then it was silent.
The alpha turned towards me and I stared in horror as he began stalking towards me. Gathering my strength and courage I stood up and crouched before sprinting towards him. He swiped his arm and I dodged getting in a hit of my own. But my small victory was short lived as the alpha's clawed hand grabbed me.
He lifted me up to eye level so I could see his blood red eyes. In them I could see my own wide and frantic ones.
And then I was flying.
I crashed through the stairs railing and then into the wall. My body rolled down the stairs till my leg caught me half way through.
All I could register was pain. I opened my mouth to scream but all that came out was air. Star covered my vision and then soon black was surrounding the edge. Then I was unconscious.
Shit.
"Hey, hey, hey! This isn't exactly an all terrain vehicle." Jackson bit out as he watched out the window.
Stiles was driving at an alarming speed through the road the led to the Hale house.
"Did you pay for it?" Stiles bit out.
He was tired of listening to pretty boys whining. He had dealt with it all night. He had dealt with his bull shit since as long as he could remember and he was done with it. Jackson had turned in one of his best friends to the Argents and it was his fault that Lydia was in the hospital.
"No."
Ass hole.
"Then shut up." Stiles switched gears pressed the pedal to the floor.
'When did you become so weak?'
'I don't remember.'
'I do.'
'Then why don't you enlighten me.'
'It happened when we moved here. You've lost yourself.'
'I haven't lost myself!'
'Then who are you?'
'…I can't remember.'
'Well then let me tell you. You are a Lupine. You are a wolf. And you are stronger then what you have come to believe, and what everyone else thinks. You don't need anyone else. They need us. So wake up and let's save Scott.'
I woke up to snapping bones. My snapping bones. And instead of fighting it like I had been I let it come.
I didn't care who knew I was a Lupine anymore. I didn't care if they knew I could shift into a big black wolf, and it didn't matter to me anymore that I was the reason the my family had to move to Beacon Hills. I didn't care that my family didn't want me anymore because I didn't need them. All I needed was myself.
The alpha was without a pack. And just like the first time I saw him we were equals in strength. I could tear him limb from limb now. And I was going to.
With that in mind I stood on my now four legs and threw my head back and howled because I could. It wasn't to call my father for help it was to warn the alpha of what he had done and what was about to happen. It was then I realized that there wasn't torn strips of fabric scattered at my feet. I did a double take and then noticed that the bracelet Deaton had given me was on my ankle. My wolf ankle.
So that's what it's for.
I leapt down the rest of the stair and landed with a light thud. The walk to the door was short and only took me a couple of strides before I was standing before the wood door. It was cracked open and with a slight
nudge it slammed against the wall and I could see everything going on outside. I walked to the edge of the deck and found who I was looking for.
Scott was lying on the ground with the alpha crouched feet away ready to pounce and kill Scott. They looked towards me and I heard Scott sigh in what I could only assume was relief. The alpha growled and turned towards me and away from Scott.
With an animalistic roar I jumped off the deck and sprinted toward the alpha with an alarming speed. Like a bullet I slammed into him and latched my teeth around his shoulder. Using his weight against himself I pulled him down so I wasn't dangling off him like a leach.
With all four paws on the ground I began to tear at him. Blood poured into my mouth and that did nothing but feed my rage. But instead of my wolf taking in control like she had been we were completely in tuned.
I began to shake my head and pull at him trying to get my teeth to go in deeper and tear off his flesh. The alpha growled and swiped his claws at me. I let go and jumped back narrowly missing his grasp. He jumped up and went to attack me. I ran back towards him and dropped down causing him to go flying above me.
As he was mid-air I jumped up and attached my mouth to his heel. He yelped in pain and fell back down to the ground. I jumped onto him and raked my claws down his chest and abdomen leaving bloody trails. I leapt off him and growled while circling him.
He stood up shakily and growled. I mock lunged and he swiped a paw where he thought I would be and while his paw was extended I jumped and bit down on his hand and drug him back to the ground.
He was losing. Bad.
While I was tearing into his arm a silver Porsche drove up and stopped right at the clearing.
"Luna!" Stiles yelled.
I let go of the alpha and took several steps back as I saw what was in his hand. A Molotov cocktail.
The alpha stood and growled. Blood seemed to drip from everywhere on his body as he stumbled towards me.
And then the Molotov cocktail was sailing towards the alpha. But then he caught it…
"Oh, damn." I heard Stiles mutter.
"Allison!"
I looked over to Scott to see him throw Allison's bow at her. She caught it then notched an arrow and drew the string back to her face to shoot.
With a twang the arrow was sent whistling towards the bottle and it was true to its mark. With the sound of shattering glass the alpha's arm lit up in flames. He began to shake it wildly it a desperate attempt to put out the flames but was only managing to make it grow, but not spread.
Then Jackson threw another one that hit the alpha's abdomen and then he lit up completely.
In a wild frenzy of rage his eyes locked on me and he began to move towards me. I was prepared though. Just as I was about to attack Scott leapt out of nowhere and sent Peter stumbling back.
As he moved further away the flames began to die until Peter fell to his knees. He had shifted back into his human form, or what was left of it anyway. He was charred almost to the bone. He made one last gurgling noise before he fell back.
I growled and turned my gaze away. There were some things I would never be able to un-see…
It was as if everyone let out breath at the same time.
I looked over to see Allison and Scott kissing and despite myself I felt happy for them…
"Why'd you do that," Scott asked.
"Because I love you."
Those words brought me back to the moment in the cell when Derek and I had kissed and when those words…
"Luna!" My thoughts were cut off as Stiles yelled for me.
I turned my massive head towards Stiles before walking towards him. I stopped right in front of him. My head hit his abdomen in height making me have to look up at him.
"You know last time you were like this, you were trying to kill me," he joked.
I snorted and shook my head in laughter.
"Are you laughing at me right now, Luna? You know how scary it is to have you chasing after me. I though I was going to-."
"That's Luna?" Jackson voice cut him off.
My gaze swung to him and I growled. Jackson looked away.
"Yeah, jack ass." Stiles growled.
My attention was brought to the new set of footsteps. It was Derek. I watched with wary eyes as he stalked over to his uncle's charred body. He stepped over him and looked down.
Peter's labored breathing quickened as Derek bent down to one knee.
Scott stood up and sprinted towards Derek stopping halfway.
"Wait! You said the cure comes from the one who bit you. Derek. If you do this, I'm dead. Her father, her family… what am I supposed to do?"
We all waited with baited breath as Derek seemed to contemplate what Scott said.
"You've already decided. I can smell it on you!" Peter rasped.
Then Derek raised his arm and his nails extend into claws.
"Wait! No, no!" Scott yelled.
And then Peter was missing a throat.
I looked down in disappointment but at the same time I was also glad. I didn't know why though.
Scott's face crumbled and so did Allison's and Chris's.
Derek stood and turned toward everyone with red glowing eyes, and with a morphed voice he spoke. "I'm the alpha now." He then turned towards the forest and disappeared in the thickness of it.
"Go after him," I heard Stiles mutter.
I looked at him in question.
"You heard me. Besides if anyone can kick his sourwolf ass for Scott, it's you."
I nodded and then dug my claws into the dirt and sprinted after him.
It took me several minutes to find him. He was sitting on a rock overlooking the lake. I took in a deep breath and began shifting back. When I was done I was still surprised to see I was fully clothed. I fingered the bracelet Deaton had given me in wonder before quietly walked up to him. I stood there in silence when I did.
"It took me awhile to figure out what you are." Derek started breaking the silence. "But I started to piece it together. Laura could do it. So could my mother."
"When did you figure it out?"
"When you were in the middle of the forest naked after the night of the full moon."
I couldn't help the blush that flooded my cheeks as I recalled that night.
Derek sighed deeply then looked off to the right.
"It wasn't true what I said about being able to cure it."
"I know."
"I only said it because I needed him on my side."
"I'm aware."
"I also know that you couldn't let anyone besides a Hale be the alpha."
Derek turned to me and nodded.
I sighed and sat down next to him on his rock.
"I don't blame you."
It was silent for awhile. Not the awkward kind it was just… silent.
"I need to tell you something." I finally stated after several moments of contemplation.
Derek just looked at me in confirmation.
"I killed someone in Nevada. That's why my family moved here."
Derek looked at me in surprise.
"I didn't know that I killed him until recently though. My wolf took over. She does that sometimes." I said more to myself than anything.
"We were at a party." I trailed off getting lost in memories. "He got drunk and tried to force himself on me."
It was weird saying it out loud. I had thought of it so many times before then but it was different saying it.
"I woke up the next day naked and covered in blood, and when I went home in wolf form my dad knew I had killed someone. He told me I had to pack my things and that we were leaving. I didn't know how he knew at the time. I had washed all of the blood so there wasn't any way he could smell it. I didn't know my eyes had changed until recently."
"I killed my boyfriend." I said after a while.
"I killed my girlfriend." I looked at him in surprise and he stared back.
"I had to though. Her body was rejecting the bite. I couldn't let her suffer."
"You didn't do anything wrong then." I stated. "You're a good man despite what you think and what Stiles says."
Derek turned and locked his green eyes with my own and then pounced on me. I leaned back against the hard rock and let him take control of the kiss.
His lips were hard against mine as he took control of my mouth. His hands were all over my body leaving hot trails wherever his hands had been. My hand were on his back raking down the leather of his jacket.
He broke away from my lips and I tried to follow with my own but instead he brought his lips to my neck. I gasped in surprise and proceeded to do the same to him. He growled and pulled me closer.
He pulled away from me and I looked up in question. He shrugged off his jacket and then her shirt throwing them to the ground below the rock leaving him shirtless. He smirked as I stared at him before coming back down to kiss me.
He pulled me up so we were both sitting and pulled off my jacket and then my shirt. I blushed as he stared at me his eyes turning blood red. My breath caught in my throat as his hands touched my bare skin.
My lips met his first this time and I wasn't as submissive as I was before. He growled and I growled back.
"I need to tell you something."
He grunted in acknowledgment.
"I love you too."
I was answered with another passionate kiss.
"Do you want this?" He asked in between kisses.
I pulled away and looked him in his now green eyes. "I want you."
And that is how I lost my virginity on a rock in the middle of the forest.
One more chapter left of Lupine! I'm actually going to post it right after I'm done with this. So Read and Review.
