A Few Years Later

Rachel had just finished writing her lesson plan on the board when Artie rolled in to join her.

Rachel had spent the next few weeks after the funeral furiously campaigning to the school administration to let her be the new director of the Glee Club after Finn's passing. At first, Superintendent Harris was hesitant, stating that Finn was under the recommendation of Mr. Schuester who had given up on the New Directions when Finn died, and even stated that there wasn't enough funding to keep the club going. Coach Sylvester wound up walking into the meeting and got into a heated debate with Rachel about the importance of the arts in the school. After Rachel offered to use her left over money from Broadway to help start up keeping the Glee Club on track, he favored her side and allowed her to become the new Glee Club director, only she would start the next semester since the current one was almost over. He also required that she find a co-director. Since she couldn't bother Kurt, and Blaine was already leading the Warblers, she asked Artie since she admired his directing skills. He was more than happy to comply.

"Ugh, I'm tired." He groaned. "One baby would have been enough, but taking care of twins that won't sleep at night? Someday, you'll know the pain, Rachel."

She giggled. "Maybe someday. But I'm sure Sugar is taking very good care of them."

He rolled his eyes. "Sure. Oh, and guess what she wants us to dress as for our annual Halloween family portrait?"

"The Village People?" Rachel guessed.

"Nope, Daft Punk. She originally wanted to do Blue Man Group until I pointed out that facepaint or even spray paint wasn't safe for the babies." He replied.

Artie and Sugar wound up rekindling after the funeral, and a few months later, they married. Sugar at the time was a makeup artist at Sephora and Artie had just finished film school. A few more months later, she gave birth to twins named Angelique and Pierre (because of her love for sophisticated names and her French roots).

"Isn't your anniversary coming up?" Rachel asked. "I remember when Becky objected at the wedding and her reason was….what was it she said…" I don't wanna see any biatch macking on my sloppy seconds! I had Artie first!"

He rolled his eyes but laughed at her impression of Becky. "Yeah, and Coach Sylvester had to throw a box of Twinkies out into the lobby and played fetch with her so we could conclude the ceremony." Suddenly, his phone rang in his pocket. Rachel noticed him frown when he looked at who was calling. "This is like the fifth time this week she's called!"

"Can't you block her number?" Rachel suggested.

He sighed frustrated. "Tried everything: blocking, changing numbers and phones, and she still finds ways to contact me. She hasn't tried showing up in person though because she's afraid I'm gonna get a restraining order on her. Hello? Becky, I can hear you breathing. Yes, I got your pictures and I immediately deleted them. I can't talk right now Becky….wait, Becky? I can't hear you! What? I think you have bad connection! Wha-he-er-mo-hi…" And with a click, he hung up.

She snickered and continued writing on the board.

The door opened again, only this time, a pile of students filed in, each one spouting their own personalities. Surprisingly, Rachel and Artie had no problem recruiting new members. By the of the first day of school when they posted the sign up sheet, at least two pages of signatures filled it. Now, the New Directions consisted of Corey, Deanna, Katlin, Brandi, Logan, Derrick, Devin, Nicole, Renee, Meghan, Daniel, Julie, Chris, Eric, William, Kevin, Fran, Jan, Brandon, Dawn, Gabby, Margaret, Alexa, and Joseph. It seemed that Glee Club was one of the most widely popular clubs in the school with plenty of talented students to fill it.

"Yo, Ms. Berry! How's it going?" Devin asked. Rachel had decided that after marrying Sam, she would keep her last name and go by Berry-Evans. However, she chose to keep just Berry for her job.

"I'm doing great, Devin. How was school today, everyone?"

Gabby took her seat next to Katlin and Nicole and grinned. "It was good. We all went for slushies during lunch today."

"What's today's lesson, Ms. Berry?" Jan asked.

Rachel pointed to the board, where she wrote the word Ambition. "Can anyone tell me what this word means to you?"

Margaret pulled out her dictionary to look up the definition, but Rachel stopped her. "I don't need the Webster definition, Margaret. In your own words, what is ambition?"

Meghan raised her hand. "The desire to do or achieve something?"

Artie nodded. "Exactly. We all express ambition every day, to pass our history class, to graduate, to get into college, to get a good job or career, to find love. Some even just have ambition to live life to its fullest day-by-day. The key thing about it though, is that the desire is often fueled by sheer determination."

"Our current ambition is to kick ass at Sectionals". Rachel added.

She noticed everyone murmuring in excitement, but Daniel spoke up. "What kind of songs about ambition are there?"

"Oh, there's TONS!" Rachel exclaimed. "Brave by Sara Bareilles. The Climb by Miley Cyrus. Go the Distance from Hercules. Juke Box Hero by Foreigner. New York, New York by Frank Sinatra. The choices are endless. One year for Regionals, we did a mashup of Nicki Minaj's Fly and R. Kelly's I Believe I Can Fly. You'll perform your songs on Friday, and for group numbers, we're doing boys vs girls. Girls, I was thinking Break Free by Ariana Grande." Her decision was met by giggles and squeals from the girls.

"Boys, you're doing Lose Yourself" by Eminem." Artie said. All the boys high- fived each other.

Everyone in the room cheered and began chatting excitedly. Artie clapped his hands in attention. "Ok, everyone, before we let you go off and discuss your songs with each other, we have a little special treat. We called in the reserves and put together a little group number of our own to give you a little confidence boost, not for just the assignment, but for the rest of this day forward."

The door opened again, and the original New Direction members and even some of the alumni came in cheering: Puck, Tina, Mike, Quinn, Santana, Brittany, Kitty, Marley, Rory, Sugar, Kurt, Jake, Ryder, and Joe came in.

"Us Glee Club legends have assembled a something something to tell you all that you can achieve anything if you put your mind to it." Puck said.

"High school may be the threshold of youth, but it's one of the stepping stones to discovering who you really are." Tina said.

"And if you really want to go for something, you give it all you've got. All or nothing." Quinn said.

Brad then began playing Hall of Fame on the piano.

Yeah, You could be the greatest

You can be the best

You can be the King Kong banging on your chest

You could beat the world

You could beat the war

You could talk to God, go banging on his door

You can throw your hands up

You can beat the clock

You can move a mountain

You can break rocks

You can be a master

Don't wait for luck

Dedicate yourself and you gon' find yourself

Meanwhile as they performed, Rachel silently slipped out of the room and went to the bathroom. She pulled a pregnancy test out of her purse and locked herself in a stall.

Standing in the hall of fame (yeah)

And the world's gonna know your name (yeah)

'Cause you burn with the brightest flame (yeah)

And the world's gonna know your name (yeah)

And you'll be on the walls of the hall of fame

Rachel sat on the toilet and stared at her timer in one hand, and the pregnancy test in the other. Waiting, and waiting…

Finally, her timer went off. She glanced at the pregnancy test and gasp as she suddenly saw two lines forming.

Standing in the hall of fame

She whipped out her phone and dialed Sam's number. She made sure the huge smile was still plastered on her face so Sam could hear her joy.

"Hey, babe! How's the lesson plan going?"

"Sam…I have something to tell you. Are you sitting down?"

She noticed him pause, then she heard the concern in his voice. "Is everything ok? What's going on?"

Rachel took a deep breathe before answering. With tears welling in her eyes, she answered two powerful words.

"I'm pregnant."

And CUT!

That's a wrap, folks! And by that's a wrap, I mean that's the end of our story. Thank you again EVER so much for following this story, I've appreciated all your reviews and your patience, especially when I had long pauses of writer's block. I couldn't have done it without you all *blows a kiss*. Until next time, good-bye, my lovelies!

P.S., the names of the new members of Glee Club are the names of all my co-workers, in case you were wondering. None of them were harmed in the making of this fanfic.
