"Squirrel Girl, so good to see you," Barron said as the young squirrel heroine was brought into his office, "It seems you have decided to help me in my quest to calm down this great city." Barron said with a big booming smile.

"I'm doing this for the city, so if you think you can use me, then forget about it." SG said firmly, and that made Baron laugh.

"Of course, I wouldn't force you to do this, that's why I made the offer to you, but right now I'm sure your wondering what you are to say?" Baron asked her, which caused the heroine to nod her head in agreement, as Barron went behind his desk and pulled out several transcripts on it, and handed them to her, which she began to read over.

"This is basically blaming the police, saying they've gone to far in prosecuting the gangs." SG said after reading part of it, and while it's true that she and Jim where at odds over fighting the gangs, she didn't think they where going well over the line.

"Well it's true Squirrel Girl, a cop started this whole gang war, and the cops must end it, to end this war compromise is needed." Barron said smoothly as silk, and that made SG get a bad taste in her mouth.

"You can't compromise your beliefs, and slamming the police will not bring this war to a halt, if anything it will give the gangs more momentum, and it will cause a rift to form between you and the LAPD." SG said smoothly as well, and that caused the mayor to sigh.

"You know why I got elected, SG?" he asked the heroine.

"I was in New York, so I'm afraid I don't." SG answered honestly, keeping venom out of her voice.

"Well let me make it brief for you," Barron began, and SG could wear she heard a hint of resentment, "I got elected because I promised I could do a better job than mayor Bradley before me, I promised to make the city safer for children again, and the cops are not doing a good job, they don't have the right to prosecute people without due process, they are no better than the gangs if they continue to do that, and I will take them both down if I have to." Barron said with a smile, as he walked behind his desk, and poured himself two glasses with a fine drink, and he offered one to the squirrel heroine.

"Not old enough to drink." she rejected his offer, but she could easily tell the drink was a power play, if she took the drink, he would own her. Barron just shrugged and took a sip of his own drink, as an adviser walked through the previously closed doors, and interrupted the meeting.

"Mr. Mayor, it's time for your press conference." the female adviser informed Barron, which made him nod his head.

"Good morning everyone," Barron said as he took the stage, "as I'm sure your aware I'm here to address you about this war between the LAPD, and the gangs that haunt our great city, but I'm not the only one here today, our very own Squirrel Girl will also be addressing you fine reporters, and making a few statements, as well as answering some questions," Barron said as the flashbulbs sparkled, "I will let her take the stand at this time." Barron said as the media started taking pictures and preparing to take quotes as the very familiar squirrel heroine took the stand.

"Good morning everyone," she said with a friendly wave, "I know your aware of the ongoing battle between the cities finest and the gangs, but I'm here to assure you, the police are doing everything within their power to end this war, and how do I know this," she asked as she took a deep breath before continuing, "because I am working with Captain Jim in an attempt to end the gang war." SG said as Barron stood up from his chair and walked next to her, and leaned down to where he could whisper into her ear.

"Stick to the script." he hissed into her ear, but SG shrugged it off, she was to far in to back down now, and she would not be intimidated by the mayor, she had almost died on graduation day back in New York, and this was nothing compared to that.

"The police are working night and day to end this gang war, and I will stand beside them, we have to work together to end this gang war, if we stand together, they cannot break our will." SG said as the flashbulbs sparkled again, and she spotted Jacob standing near the front of the crowd.

"Squirrel Girl, why the sudden change of heart?" Jacob shouted at her, as he prepared to take a quote from her.

"Because I've realized that we must work together to fix this problem, and I might be a heroine, but I can't do it alone, which is why I ask all of you to do your part, do the right thing, and work with the police, for I stand with Los Angeles, which is my home, and I will not sit idly by and watch it destroy itself, so please do the right thing." SG said.

"SG, do you agree with Mayor Anderson's plan to destroy the gangs." Jacob asked his second question.

"Even though the gangs have attacked you, would you still forgive them?" he asked the squirrel heroine.

"Especially because of that." SG concluded, and needless to say, the media was slightly impressed by the way she handled that situation, as Barron stood up, smiling in front of the cameras, but escorted her off the stage, and towards his limo which was nearby.

"You made a big mistake today," Barron said as he entered the back door of his limo, "We could have been friends." Barron said with a hiss.

"We can still be friends, I just wont be a puppet, I defend the city and it's people, and that includes you and the police." SG hissed right back, and Barron closed the door, and the limo began to drive away, towards another press conference at the police station.

Suddenly rocks began being flung at the limo as it drove away, and a large section of the crowd got int the way of the limo and forced it to stop, and they began trying to tip it over.

SG raced over and began pulling protesters away from the limo, as she engaged several in hand to hand combat. Out of the corner of her eye he noticed a young adult getting trampled by the violent demonstrators, and she tried to make her way towards him, only to have the wave of protesters knock her back and way from the man she was trying to help.

One man in the crowd looked around and smiled at all the chaos, "Check." he said in an evil tone

"This was a huge mistake on my part," SG said as she sat on top of a building overlooking the stage where she had given her statements, a few hours had passed since the rioting had begun, ans she had been able to stop the bleeding until the police could arrive and contain the situation, "did I start this on accident?" she asked out loud, since nobody could hear her, or so she thought.

"I don't think you caused this," a familiar voiced called out from behind her, and she turned and saw Jim and Moss standing on the roof behind her, "you didn't know their where anti-police demonstrators in the crowd." Jim said as he and Moss walked up behind her.

"I still think I caused this, I went against what the mayor wanted me to say, and I incited a riot because of it." SG said in a defeated tone, and that caused Moss to snort.

"Like Jim said, you had no way of knowing this would happen, so you cannot blame yourself." Moss said firmly, and that caused the heroine to sigh lowly.

"Squirrel Girl, you showed bravery in your defiance of what Barron wanted you to say, you said what you thought would actually matter, I applaud you for that." Jim said as he sat down next to her and patted her on her good shoulder.

"It was an easy choice to make, I'm not going to be some politicians puppet." SG said firmly, and that made Jim and Moss smile.

"Between you and me, I never voted for him." Jim said with a laugh.

"Neither did I." Moss joined in, and that finally caused the heroine to smile. Suddenly SG looked down, and even though she couldn't explain why, something just told her to look down, and she noticed a young white male outside of the remainder of the crowd just staring up at her and the two officers. Suddenly in an instant his skin morphed from white to black, and he started walking away.

"You see that?" SG asked as she rubbed her eyes to check them.

"I sure did." Jim said as he and Moss began running towards the door to the roof, SG was more direct as she jumped off the roof and began running towards the man she had been watching.

"Stop!" she ordered the man, and he turned to face her, with a sadistic smile he stepped behind a small group of people, and when the crowd dispersed, he was nowhere to be seen...

-Two Hours Later-

"Swift you said you have a surprise for us, what is it?" Carlos said as he and Pablo walked up to the communications man.

"I have successfully hacked into the police radio frequency, we now have access to all their radio frequencies, and we can also give orders over the frequency, be it very sparingly because I still haven't worked out all the bugs yet, so they could still possibly trace us." Swift admitted, and that caused the gang leaders to nod their heads.

"What is our next move, Carlos?" Pablo asked his fellow gang leader.

"We find a way to attack where they are most vulnerable, Squirrel Girl said tonight that she stands behind the police, well let's see for how long when we start picking them off like flies." Carlos said with a sadistic smile.

"I agree with that statement boss, and I might have a way to attack the police, and Squirrel Girl at the same time," Swift said, and it was clear that he had his leaders attention, "Squirrel Girl always seems to appear near that Burger King on 12th street, it would be easy to lure her there with a false police report, and then boom, we strike with ruthless aggression." Swift said with a sadistic smile that Roach would have been proud of, and that caused the gang leaders to smile as well.

"When should we strike?" Swift asked Carlos.

"How soon can you send out a transmission?" Carlos asked right back.

"I can't do it tonight since it's an usually busy right now, so I can send it out tomorrow night, that's when we strike..."
