It's too serious a moment, leaving the nursery she was supposed to have. Mar—her mother had held her close, told her to get used to people putting her first for once. She'd been wanted. Her parents had done all they could to keep her, and now here they are, the three of them—the father she barely knows in another world, hopefully keeping an eye on Henry; her mother, trying to get a hold of herself after seeing the nursery again, and herself, someone's daughter now, and that made her the Savior. She'd set a magical wardrobe on fire because apparently a Savior's resume just wasn't complete without that.
She sidles up to Mary Margaret and nudges her, careful not to hit her quiver full of arrows. She hasn't forgotten that ogre on the walk over here, probably still had drops of its spit in her hair. It had crushed her gun like it was nothing.
That kind of thing's not going to work around here, Mary Margaret had said, after saving her in the most badass way possible—shooting an arrow right through the thing's eye into its brain...
"So if one of us yells, 'Jumanji,' do all the ogres just go away?" she jokes, quietly, so that Aurora and Mulan don't turn around and start asking questions. If Cora being evil has an upside, it's that she got the two of them off their backs, the enemy of my enemy is my friend.
Mary Margaret chuckles and adjusts her bow, slung over the other shoulder.
"A few hours ago, I would have been fine with the ogres if it just meant those two would go away," she says, nodding ahead of them at Mulan and Aurora. "But they're the only allies we have right now."
Stopping, Mary Margaret holds her arm out to keep Emma back, and Emma's not stupid enough to blow her off again.
"I don't think anyone back at the haven knows Lancelot was Cora," she whispers. "But we'll have to be careful."
"Shouldn't we grab the two of them and start talking things out then?" Emma asks. "You said Aurora and Mulan are on our side."
"We'll have other things to worry about, namely setting up a camp for the night, finding some food... Oh!" she squeals loud enough for their new friends to turn and look at them. "I can teach you how to hunt!"
"That's actually a good idea," Mulan says, approaching them. "We didn't bring many rations with us."
Mary Margaret grabs her hand, swinging their arms like they're on the way to the playground or something. "You'll get the hang of it. Deer is the best, but that takes too long. I'll show you how to make a trap for a rabbit, then we'll field dress it, eat, and set up shifts for the night!"
Yay?
A/N: I'm referencing the 1995 Jumanji movie, not the new one that wouldn't have been out when this episode took place. Coming up? How to cover an episode that Emma technically wasn't in...hmmm...
