CHAPTER 25: SUSPICIONS AND THE TRUTH ABOUT JASON BRADY…
MARTY'S P.O.V.
I told Kensi years ago that any kids she had would be 'Gifted Mutant Assassins fighting on the side of justice', of course when I said that I imagined myself as the father of her children.
Who knew I back then I would be right?
Maybe Fawn got into a fight at school, but she was standing up for a friend.
I know I shouldn't have said what I did about her being just like Kensi. I couldn't help it thought, because it's the truth. Of course Fawn is my daughter to.
Just seeing Kensi mad still makes her real hot to me.
"Why is everyone staring at me?" Jason asked. "Because you look like my dad," Fawn answered. "How…if that were true it would mean…" Jason began. "Because my twin brother was kidnapped two weeks after we were born." Fawn explained. "I can't be your brother…my parents…" Jason said and I could tell he was trying to digest what he was being told.
I knew without a doubt that Jason was really D.J. but that brought up the questions that Kensi and I had been wondering for years.
Where had he been for the last 13 years and how was it possible that he was here now?
I noticed something about Jason though he had not said a word. He had a bruise on his shoulder even though most of it was covered by his shirt. I knew just by the look of the bruise he had not gotten today.
Just seeing the bruise sent my mind back in time and I thought of what Gordon John Brandel had done to me.
"Where did you get that bruise on your shoulder?" I asked and Jason seemed surprised before trying to cover his bruise up with his shirt. "I fell of my skateboard a few weeks ago, it's no big deal." Jason said with a shrug and it reminded me of the many excuses I had had used like that.
"Does your dad hit you?" I pressed.
Out of the corner of my eye I saw Kensi and Fawn look from me to Jason.
"No, I told you I fell as off my skateboard a few weeks ago." Jason said though he seemed uncomfortable talking about his bruised shoulder. "My dad used to abuse me and I used stories like that." I stated and Jason glared at me.
With having the same eyes as Kensi…it looked as though he had inherited the same glare Kensi gave me when I made her mad.
"Look I'm sorry about what your dad did to you, but my dad has never hurt me." Jason said stubbornly. "Then why do you look scared every time I mention him?" I inquired.
"I-I…" Jason opened and closed his mouth several times, but said not another word.
It seemed as though he had run out of excuses.
"I'll be right back." Kensi told me and I looked at her. "Where are you going?" I asked. "I'm going to talk to the principal." She whispered in my ear and I nodded.
I then watched her go, before turning my attention back to Dani and Jason.
KENSI'S P.O.V.
I had seen Jason and knew that without a doubt Jason Brady was really D.J.
I had been about to say something about the bruise on Jason's shoulder, but Marty had beat me to it. I could tell Jason was making excuses about the bruise and not really wanting to talk about it.
I knocked on the door to the principal's office and was told to come in.
I made an excuse and told him that Marty and I were taking Jason with us, never mentioning my suspicions on who Jason really was.
After a few minutes I made my way back to Marty, Dani and Jason.
"Ready to go," I asked. "I'm ready let's get going," Marty replied with a nod. "Jason you're coming with us." I told Jason as I looked at him.
"Why should I do that? I don't even know who you are and my parents should be here soon." Jason said looking at Marty and I with untrusting eyes. "Because she's a Federal Agent and I'm a cop." Marty replied.
After another few minutes we had Jason convinced to go with us. When Jason got up he put his hand over his ribs and sucked in a breath.
"Are you okay?" Dani asked and Jason tried to smile, but it came out as a grimace.
"I'm fine; I think that Michael's friends got me a little more than I thought." Jason told, I glanced at Marty and knew by the look on his face that he didn't believe what Jason had just said either.
THE MISSION…
When we got back Sam and Callen looked up from their paperwork.
"Is that…" Callen began. "My name is Jason Brady." Jason introduced himself.
"Dani get some ice on for your eye, and then I want you and Jason on that couch doing your homework." I said.
"Yeah so you can talk about me." Jason muttered as he followed Dani to the couch.
"Is that who I think it is?" Callen asked. "I don't know many kids that look like Marty…" I began.
"Or that have Kensi's eyes." Marty finished.
"So you kidnapped Jason from school on the suspicion that he is really D.J.?" Sam asked. "Plus the fact that someone has been using him as a punching bag." Marty said with anger in his voice and it could also be seen in his eyes.
I knew it was partly the fact he was thinking of what his father had done to him.
"I think it's time we paid a visit to Jason's parents." Marty suggested. "I think G. and I should go or you two might end up in jail." Sam said getting up.
"I'll tell Hetty." Marty said heading for Hetty's office. "I'll have Eric and Sam find them, and then see if Eric and Nell can keep an eye on Jason and Dani." I said before heading up to OPS.
