Chapter 25: Yes.

Clary woke up four hours later to the sound of bickering from down the hall.

"Gimme the remote!"

"No. It's fashion week, I have to watch." Izzy replied, holding the remote out of his reach.

"Go watch your stupid fashion in your room." Jace sniped, reaching for the remote.

"Go watch your stupid sports in your room." Izzy retorted back, flicking him on is forehead.

"Izzy!"

"Jace!"

"Both of you! Be quiet! You're going to wake Clary up." Alec whisper-shouted at the pair.

"Too late." Magnus said, seeing Clary in the doorway.

"Hey Clare." Izzy said, flicking her eyes up from the T.V.

"Hey." Clary whispered. "I have a major headache so I'm just gonna head out."

"We can take care of you, ya know."

"Yeah, I know, but I hardly ever even see my parents, so I'm just gonna head home."

"Well, if that's what you want."

Clary went around and hugged everyone goodbye, stopping at Jace who had yet to say anything.

"You sure you're okay?" Jace asked her, looking her up and down.

"See you at school tomorrow." Clary told him, avoiding the question, which did not go unnoticed by Jace.

"Love you." Clary said, wrapping her arms around him.

"Love you too." Jace replied, but pain was evident in his eyes.

Clary decided to not question him on it tonight, because he didn't further question her about if she was okay.

She walked to the front door, glancing back at them once, and then walking out.

Jace sighed and slumped back into the couch, giving up with Izzy.

"What now?" Izzy questioned.

"She won't tell me what's wrong."

"Yeah huh. She said she had a major headache."

"Yeah but there was something else."

"If she wants to tell you, she'll tell you."

"But I don't get why she doesn't want to tell me."

"You need to calm down. She doesn't need to tell you every single little detail of her life. And you shouldn't pressure her to."

"Is that what I'm doing?"

"Yes." Izzy, Alec, and Magnus all said simultaneously.

"Ugh. I need to go to sleep."

"It's only seven."

"Yeah, so what?" Jace muttered, scuffing upstairs to his room.

O.o.O.o.O.

"Clary. You're up."

Clary was currently in english, bouncing her knee nervously, getting ready to give a presentation. She still had a headache, although now it was worse. She was also nauseous. Sebastian took full notice of her discomfort, and kept giving her worried glances, but she ignored him.

She didn't tell Jace, but he could tell when he first laid eyes on her that morning that she was in pain. He didn't say anything, just pasted on a smile, and grabbed her hand.

She was now wishing she had told him. Maybe if she had, she wouldn't be sitting in class right now.

"Clary? Let's go." Mrs. Getler called from the front, becoming impatient.

"Sorry." Clary mumbled, and stood up.

And then fell over.

"Clary!" Sebastian jumped out of his seat, and attempted to wake her up, but she was out cold. He immediately texted Jace, and some kid went to go get a wet paper towel from the was by his side in less than a minute flat, and he too tried waking Clary up, to no avail. An ambulance arrived shortly thereafter, and rushed Clary to the hospital. No one was allowed to go with her, since none of them were immediate family. They weren't even allowed to leave the school in their own cars to follow her. They had to wait until school was out. That was another 5 hours.

O.o.O.o.O.

"Something's wrong with Clary."

The letters from Sebastian were printed across Jace's screen clearly, but he couldn't seem to process them. It took him about 30 seconds, and then he was up and out of the room before anyone realized what had happened. Jace raced down to Clary's english classroom, and burst through the door, finding Clary knocked out on the floor, with 20 kids surrounding her.

Jace pushed through them, kneeling down next to Sebastian. They didn't say anything, just waited for 911 by her side. Once Clary was loaded into the ambulance, they both followed to step in, but were stopped.

"I was told none of her immediate family were here. I cannot let you in since you are both underage." The EMT told them.

"What?! That's the stupidest rule I've ever heard! Why I oughta-"

"Jace. It's not worth it. We're just wasting time. We'll just follow behind." Sebastian pulled him back.

"Ohhh, no you don't." Their principal came up behind them.

"What?"

"You aren't allowed to leave now back inside."

"You think I'm gonna wait 5 hours to see my girlfriend who was just taken to the hospital unconscious?!"

"Inside. Now." The principal was unfazed, and waltzed back into the school, Jace and Sebastian following sullenly behind.

O.o.O.o.O.

Torture. It was absolute torture being locked in that school for 5 hours of agony, not knowing if Clary was alright. The second the bell hit 2:15, he booked it outside, not caring about going to his locker. He raced to the hospital, and tried to go right in, but was stopped. Again.

"Sir, you cannot go in there. They're having a meeting with her parents and her brother."

Jace swore under his breath and walked to the uncomfortable, hard plastic chairs that the waiting room had to offer. As soon as he sat down, Sebastian burst through the door, followed by Izzy, Simon, Maia, and Jordan, with Alec and Magnus bringing up the rear.

"So how is she?" Izzy asked.

"They won't tell me." Jace growled.

"Down, boy." Sebastian joked, earning a glare from Jace.

"I hate this place."

"We all do." Simon said in agreement.

O.o.O.o.O.

Clary's parents and brother came out thirty minutes later, tear tracks marking Jocelyn's face.

"One of you can go in now." Valentine said, walking his wife and son to a set of three chairs.

They all looked to Jace, and he got up, wiping his palms on his jeans.

"Is it bad?" Jace asked nervously.

"Just go." Jon whispered, his voice hoarse.

Jace walked to Clary's room, and hesitated outside the door. He raised his fist to knock, paused, and knocked three times.

"Come in."

Jace walked into the room, not liking what he saw. Clary had tears streaming down her face as he looked at her, yet she still attempted a smile. He walked over to her and sat down, taking her hand in his.

"Just tell me." Jace whispered, putting his head down.

"Jace, I love you. And because I love you, I'm doing this." Jace was confused at first, until her hand slipped from his hold, immediately replaced with something light. He picked his head up to look at it- and froze.

It was the promise ring.

"What the fuck are you doing." Jace whispered, clenching his fist shut around the ring, yet refusing to look at her.

"Jace." Clary whispered.

"I thought we'd been over this enough times. I'm not leaving you. Period. End of discussion."

"Jace. It's over. I'm over."

Jace tensed, but his gaze still stayed glued to his clenched fist.

"Explain."

"One of my kidney's failed. And I'm too rare or whatever, it'd be almost impossible to find a match."

"Well. I guess we'll find out."

"Jace no-"

"Clary yes." Jace placed the ring on her night stand and walked out of the room, slamming the door shut behind him.

O.o.O.o.O.

Hmm. That was interesting? Not intersting? I'm actually pretty happy with how that ended. Sorry if you aren't. I don't have too much else to say. I hope you're all still wanting to read my story. :):
