The Arrowed Heart and the Lost Priestess
Chapter 25
Copy Cat Lightening
AN: I live! I just wanted to throw out there that while I was reading through the story again to get myself back into the flow of it I notice that there were a few parts that didn't match. Mainly the part where Naruto sees Sakura a year after she is sealed and when Naruto sees Sakura after she wakes up, so I fixed it.
50 years goes by so fast is changed in that little time frame. I did a sad little spot in there inspired by credit Wynthauthor of Rainy Days. It is a sad little change but now it fits better with the later chapter. Can't believe I over looked that jeez! Well here is the next chapter!
Disclaimer: I don't own any of the characters of Naruto or Inuyasha! All of that goes to Masashi Kishimoto-sensei and Rumiko Takahashi-sensei!
ENJOY! And PLEASE REVIEW! =^-^=
"This girl is going to be the death of me!" Mizuru growled and took off into the sky following the path and leaving the other very confused companions behind.
Sakura raced through the trees trying to reach Shippo as fast as she could. She could tell from the trees she passed that she was still a ways away.
Something white caught her eye as it blew in the wind. She could make out small flashes of red and orange circling the bottom. Sakura raced forward and gripped the white cloth hanging from the tree. It was Naruto's coat
"But how?" she asked herself.
"I didn't think it was very proper for my Hime to be running around the forest with so little to cover her," a familiar voice chirped just above her.
"Saieko," Sakura smiled as she looked up at the bird perched higher in the tree.
"In the pockets there is a scroll with your cloths in it," Saieko stated. Sakura smiled threw the coat over on and tool off again. Saieko stared after her for a moment before shaking her head.
"I just hope that she will be able to remember me soon. I don't have much time left, Mizuru," Saieko tried to hold back silent tears, and turned to the large Demon cat as he landed next to the bird
"She isn't ready for them yet. I'm sorry Saieko," Mizuru whispered.
"Well it's aright I suppose, I will be able to make her happy and fulfill a promise to an old friend through my last act. Just like Goldenbell," Saieko sighed and turned from Mizuru.
"What are you planning to do?" Mizuru looked at the bird confused, remembering the sacrifice made by the little sprite.
"You will see, you will see," Saieko snickered as she disappeared in a poof of smoke.
"I really am getting sick of surprises," Mizuru grumbled, as he was about to follow Sakura again.
"But Mizuru aren't surprises meant to be fun," a deep voice piped up behind him
Mizuru spun around and growled at the baboon mocking him.
"Yes very fun indeed," the baboon chuckled darkly.
"I need to move faster!" Sakura grumbled to herself as she soared over branches seemingly never actually touching them.
"Then let Fu help you, Nee-Chan!" a young voice called by her shoulder. Sakura looked down to find the wind dragon winking at her.
"How can you help?" Sakura asked simply. The dragon smiled at her and began to circle her shoulders. Sakura stared at the dragon in compete confusion as it continued to make circles around her shoulders. The breeze began to shift and circle around her as well.
"Wow," Sakura stated amazed by the display. She wasn't as excited when she noticed the wind was starting to lift her off the branch.
"Trust Fu, nee-Chan," the wind dragon giggled and picked up speed. The current of the breeze became visible at her feet. It was like a tornado beginning at her feet and moving up her legs.
"Now point in the direction you want to go. Fu get you there nee-Chan!" the young dragon said excitedly.
"That way," she pointed straight ahead and gasped as she darted forward four times the speed she had been going.
"What if we pass him?" Sakura yelled over the wind.
"Have faith in Fu, Nee-Chan!" he giggled back at her.
Sakura nodded and concentrated on the landscape, searching for any signs of the fluffy fox demon she had saved. She hoped with all of her being that she would be able to greet both the father and son she had met in her journey.
"If anything happened to either of them. It would be my fault," Sakura whispered to Fu. The wind dragon hummed attempting to comfort the young woman. Sakura took a deep breath and concentrated on the ground once more. A flash of orange in a marshy area caught her attention.
"There Fu!" Sakura yelled. She felt acknowledgment from the dragon in a change of direction. The wind pushed her down at an alarming rate before stopping. Sakura would have screamed it her breath hadn't been taken from her in the decent. Moved to catch her breath when the winds holding her up stopped completely. She free fell for a second before connecting with the ground. She thanked Kami for her instincts to tumble as she hit the ground.
"What the heck Fu?" Sakura began to try arguing with the wind dragon when a small creature rammed right into her stomach.
"Oooof," Sakura sat up and looked down in her lap. Tears began to form in her eye as she realized just who was in her lap.
"Shippo, I got your message. I came as fast as I could," Sakura pet his head and hugged him tight. "I wasn't fast enough was I?"
She felt Shippo's small head nod on her shoulder. Sakura's tears spilled over as she hugged the poor cub.
"I'm so sorry, Shippo. I'm so sorry," Sakura rock the little fox demon for a few minutes as they cried together. Shippo was the first to pull away.
"It was the Thunder brothers. They have sacred jewel shards. Papa had found some and we were keeping them safe while we waited for you to return. Hetan and Montan came through the forest searching for more shards and found out that papa had some. They killed him for the shards," Shippo sniffed as he told Sakura the rest of the story.
"The worst part is that they took papa and made a belt out of him," Shippo almost started crying again but he calmed himself.
"What? They made a belt out of him!" Sakura stood quickly almost tossing Shippo off of her. He quickly climbed up her side and sat on her shoulder. Sakura continued to rage over the terrible things that the thunder brothers had done and just what she was going to do to them once she got a hold of them. Shippo shuddered as she went into details he really didn't care to hear about.
"Where are they Shippo?" Sakura finally said after her long rant.
"I.. I don't know. I'm sc….scared of them," Shippo stuttered the sentence out. Sakura sighed and set Shippo on the ground.
"I know I get a little hasty some times. Let's try this again," Sakura said calmly as she knelt next to him. She closed her eyes for a moment to think.
"I'm sorry Sakura nee-Chan," Shippo whispered. Sakura opened her eyes to find a sparkling dust settling over her face.
"Shippo what are…..?" Sakura tried to whisper as she drifted into the dark.
Brown tentacles whipped out at Mizuru again and again. The cursed things continued to attack him. No matter how many he cut down they would spring forward again and try to run him through.
"What is wrong Lord Mizuru? Is this all a former Lord of the Eastern land has to offer? No wonder the Eastern lands fell to chaos," the Baboon demon laughed as its tentacles continued to attack the panting demon lord.
"Do not anger me foolish puppet," Mizuru growled out as he stood in his human form. He hated to admit it but in the time he had spent in the jewel with Midoriko had taken a toll on him. There was no rest, always fighting for balance. Midoriko was so tired. He knew that she was soon going to lose the battle for balance if they didn't end it soon.
"I suppose a cheat trick like this would never get past a great demon like yourself," the baboon stickered. Mizuru stood his full height and glared at the mocking puppet. Mizuru had sealed a good portion of his power in the jewel for Midoriko to be able to access. It was there to help her when he could not. But that didn't mean this weak excuse of a puppet could get the better of him.
"What is your name Demon, so that when I could to truly face you, I know what to scream as I silence you forever?" Mizuru snarled.
"Ho ho, I suppose it will not hurt to tell you since you never will silence me. I am called Naraku," the Baboon snarled back.
"Then be gone and out of my way puppet of Naraku," Mizuru raised his hand and flicked it in the puppet's direction. A wave of water came rushing from nowhere. As it came crashing down upon the tentacles, they sliced into pieces. The puppet screamed as it disappeared into millions of pieces leaving nothing but a wooden doll with a piece of hair around it.
Mizuru panted for a moment before standing straight once again. "Wretched pest," he growled and turned once more to follow Sakura. He had been delayed enough.
"Lord Mizuru," a powerful voice called out. Sakura was going to have to wait again. Mizuru turn back around and faced the speaker very annoyed for this to be happening now. He had places to be, but he also knew that you didn't run from a dog unless you wanted to be chased.
"Hello, Sesshomaru pup," Mizuru smiled and faced the very confused Nymph and his Lord.
"I'm sorry, Sakura nee-chan," Shippo repeated to himself as he moved to Sakura's forehead. She slept peacefully thanks to Shippo's power. He hated to do this but he needed to be able to avenge his father. He knew he wasn't strong enough but with sacred jewel shards he could be. He moved to pull the shards out of her forehead when a menacing shadow loomed over him.
"What do we have here?" the familiarity in the voice shook Shippo to the core.
"The brat was hiding more jewel shards. In a lovely lady too! Oh she will make the perfect addition to my hair potion," Montan chuckled to himself as he picked up the girl and the fox child.
"And you will make the perfect addition to my belt. It is getting a little tight! Blah ha blah ha!" Montan laughed as he took to the sky with his knew bounty.
Sakura sat in a small clearing staring at a willow tree dipping into a small pond. She knew where she was. It was the pond in the Slayers village. So that means one very important thing.
"I FELL ASLEEP AGAIN!" Sakura yelled in complete frustration. She knew what she did wrong. The little fox child used her kindness to get what he needed from her. Of course what he was planning was beyond her understanding. She just met the kind after all.
To be honest her sadness and anger toward Shippo Sr. confused her slightly as well. She had met him only twice in a short time. Well actually it was 50 years between the meetings for Shippo but only a few weeks for her.
"It is because you saved him," a wise voice peeped up next to her. Sakura looked toward the voice to find an old man sitting next to her. She stood up fast and backed away.
"Whoa, you weren't there a second ago!" Sakura pointed slightly scared.
"Calm Imouto," the old man chuckled. The more she looked him over the more he looked like a dragon. His face was long and wise with the whiskers in front draping down his nose and to the ground.
"I am Do, the earth dragon," he said as he stood and bowed.
"Oh, what are you doing in my dreams?"
"Simple, there is danger in the waking world that you need to see to," the old dragon nodded.
"Well my dreams kind of end when they want to so," Sakura shrugged.
"Well this is not so much a dream but a place your brain took you in this illusion state. It was a fox child that did this to you," Do looked to her with a knowing look as Sakura put the puzzle pieces together.
"Fox demons are known for their Illusions and tricks. This is like genjutsu! Well if that is the case," Sakura place her hand together in a sign and looked to the old dragon.
"Thank you! KAI!"
Sakura's eyes fluttered open as she took in her surroundings. She was lying on a stone bench with a large man in the middle of the room. His back was to her so she played sleeping while she listened to him.
"This lady by far will make my hair grow. I mean with how beautiful she is and all of hair there is no way it will fail. And she even has jewel shard to give to brother Hetan! This is a joyous day don't you think little fox cub?" the man now deemed demon hummed to himself. Sakura heard the rustling and panicked sounds of someone else in the room. She could only guess that it was Shippo.
"I need a little longer to prepare myself, Shippo. Please hold on," Sakura thought to herself as she silently broke her binding at her hands and feet.
"Alright if this one was talking about Hetan, this must be Montan. I got just where I wanted to be. The Thunder brothers will pay from Shippo Sr.'s death," Sakura thought as she formed her plans.
She sat up and moved for the silent kill of Montan, what she didn't plan for was the other brother to come barging into the room. Sakura cursed to herself. She dove for the fox child tumbling over the boiling pot of doom and landing close to the window. She stood her ground and glared at the brothers that look at her shocked.
"What do we have here Montan?" the man asked standing in the doorway. She knew this man. He was the elf man from her vision. They had laughed as they murdered Shippo Sr. She clenched her hands, ready to take them down for what the had done, but the shaking bundle in her arms stopped her. She glanced down at Shippo and really thought for a moment.
"Brother Hetan! This is the new pray I had acquired on my outing today. With all of the hair she has, I figured she would make the best ingredient for my hair potion," Montan said almost shyly. Sakura shifted slightly ready to dart out the window next to her. In her movement her hair shifted as well and she heard a grunt from the door.
"Well look at this Montan. You brought home something better than hair potion ingredients. You brought home sacred jewel shards," Hetan grinned. Sakura groaned remembering the crystals that Midoriko had so graciously given her.
"Well brother Hetan, I brought them for you! Shall we relieve her of them?" Montan gave a toothy grin as he moved closer to her. Sakura sighed knowing she couldn't just teleport to Kaede. She had travel too far before she had even fallen into Shippo's genjutsu. She glared at Montan and took a small step back. She glanced out the window and smirked.
"Hold on tight Shippo," Sakura whispered and brought her hands together.
"You can't have what you can't catch!" Sakura laughed and disappeared in a flurry of Sakura petals.
As they landed she took off into the trees. Her full intent was to get as much distance between them and get Shippo to safety. She couldn't fight her and protect Shippo from any harm with two opponents that both had sacred jewel shards.
"I'm sorry, Sakura nee-chan," Shippo whispered.
"It is fine Shippo. My guess is that you thought the crystals in my forehead were sacred jewel shards too. Your father told you they were, remember. Well it is all right, you thought they would give you power. Enough power to perhaps avenge your father?" Sakura asked as she sped through the forest. Shippo nodded and bowed his head in shame.
"Don't feel bad Shippo. I understand what vengeance does to people. I understand more than I even want to admit," Sakura hugged the small boy to comfort him.
A flare of chakra shocked Sakura back into the problem at hand. She sidestepped right as a bolt of lightening came crashing down on the tree branch they were just on.
" I think we have company Shippo," Sakura smiled as she brought her hands together for a jutsu. In moments there were three more of her standing in a circle. Sakura handed the shocked fox boy to one of them and looked to the others before they all nodded.
"Don't worry Shippo I will take vengeance for you. You don't need to care that burden any more. I will shoulder it for you. Stay safe until then okay?" Sakura ruffled his hair and sent the clones off in different directions. She wouldn't let any thing happen to that boy. She had already failed his father.
"You do have speed, wench," Hetan commented
"Quite a bit of speed for a human. Brother Hetan, I must have her for my hair potion!" Montan exclaimed. Sakura looked up at them. She was slightly irritated at the advantage they had from the sky on their clouds but she wouldn't let that stop her.
"The shards you boys are after don't exist. The crystals in my forehead were there long before that stupid jewel became such a pain in the ass," Sakura growled as she planned just what she was going to do.
"Don't think you can fool us stupid human. I can feel the power of the jewel from here. That sick purity we had to taint before enjoying the true power of the jewels. I can feel it from you," Hetan said plainly and lunged at her. Sakura was shocked for a moment when she saw that Hetan wasn't being held in the air by the cloud but actually small flaming wheels at his feet.
"That gives him two advantages on me now!" Sakura thought to herself as she leaped out of the way and continued to dodge Hetan's flurry of attacks.
"Taking speed from the shards no doubt. You will be a fun opponent. A much better challenge than the old fox, that was boring! You will be fun!" Hetan's face lit up as he pressured her even more with is spear. Sakura felt the spear tear through Naruto's coat more than once. She flipped backwards kicking Hetan back long enough for her to remove Naruto's coat and slip on Kakashi's gloves.
"I will not be killed by the likes of you! There have been to many things that have happened for such a cocky little shit to get the better of me. I will not lose," Sakura said as her removed the bell from her hair.
"This is what I have been waiting for! A worthy opponent! And to think a human would be the one stepping up to the task!" Hetan laughed and charged forward. Sakura swung the bell around her head and brought it crashing down to the ground.
"RYO-KOTSU!" she yelled as the bell connected with the ground lightening jumped forward in the form of a dragon and engulfed Hetan in its eclectic grasp.
"AHHHHHHHHH!" Hetan screamed in pain. He wasn't ready for this human to have such power as her disposal. The lightening dragon ripped at Hetan, not only did Hetan feel the pain of lightening surrounding him. He was also ripped apart by teeth made of lightening. A truly frightening sight. The lightening dissipated and Hetan fell to his knees.
"Huh, to be beaten by my own element. Almost funn….." Hetan dropped to the ground unable to finish his sentence. One last breath drifted out of his mouth and he died.
"Too cocky," Sakura panted. She had forgotten just how much chakra it took to bring for the dragon. Lightening was also a hard element for her to use. She thought it would be the perfect on though. To be killed by the very element he had killed Shippo Sr. with. It was satisfying.
"BROTHER HETAN!" Sakura looked up at the screaming other brother. He opened his very large and ugly mother up wide and pointed it to the sky. Sakura watched in horror as it lit with lightening and shot straight up.
"Shit!" Sakura cursed as she stood in a defensive stance. There was no way to tell just where the damned attack was going to be coming from. Sakura felt the chakra coming from right above her so she jumped to the right only to find that Montan's attack cam in the form of lightening bolts that struck in multiple places in the area she had been standing in. This meant that she was struck by one of the powerful bolts.
"KYAAHH!" Sakura screamed out in pain as she fell to the ground. Her muscles tightened and let loose in a few final spasms from the electrical current still coursing through them. She slowly stood up leaning heavily on a tree beside her that had somehow made it through the vicious attack Montan unleashed.
"That…was nothing… compared to. …Kakashi's lightening," Sakura panted out.
"You will pay girl! I will rip you to pieces! Hair be damned!" Montan screamed as he rushed forward.
"Like I said I won't … die to ….. the likes of ….you," Sakura brought her hands up to defend herself again. Montan let lose another charge this time straight at Sakura. She knew with the strength she had there was no way she could move in time.
"I will live through this!" she screamed as the lightening barreled straight for her.
A Flash of white clouded her vision. She closed and shielded her eyes in attempts to not be blinded. As the light faded and everything came back into view Sakura dropped to her knees and began to cry.
"Yo," greeted a familiar white haired man.
