Chapter 24: The Asteraceae

When Dipper released his attack, he launched forward to 9. 9's eyes widened as the sword comes to him, but he managed to block it with his staff. But the force was to great that 9 had to dodge out of the way. Dipper managed to recover calmly, and releases black lightning to 9. 9 quickly activates his 'wings' and flew up.

On the lower level, Kyoko and Finn charged forward to strike. Finn uses his two swords for more attacks but for some reason Dipper didn't care and just dodge Finn's attacks like a lazy boy. When Finn strikes his sword horizontally, Dipper ducked and blasted Finn with magic. Kyoko saw this and transformed into her Puella Magi form and uses her spear into a chain to wrap him. But Dipper looked behind and grabbed Kyoko's spear with one hand. He uses his black lightning to electrocute Kyoko by her spear. Lettuce aims her bow to Dipper and uses her power of her own Comet Mark in her right eye and eventually she releases it sending a string of light to Dipper (That's why her attack is called 'Lux Ribbon'). However, Dipper managed to dodge the attack and sends his spell to blind her temporarily. Tails saw this and went to her in concern. Mickey came to him and they immediately summoned their weapons and performed 'Eclipse'. Until Dipper managed to send it back to them.

Dipper looked above and saw 9 flying towards him attempting to hit him with Bridget's staff, but he uses his sword to block 9's attack (Mostly 9 looks like he was 'frozen' by the block). Dipper pushed 9 at such force that 9 almost got slammed by the fountain. The water made a little ripple from a big fight. 9 didn't see Dipper for all of a sudden, until he saw a reflection from above. He looked behind and saw Dipper as he blast the fountain with black lightning. 9 managed to use his 'wings' in a split second. However, Dipper struck his wings in midair.

9 felt extreme pain since Aliana said that whenever his wings got hurt, the pain will respond to 9. He fell like a dead bird in the sky. Dipper jumped and was about to strike 9 in the sky, but 9 managed to recover and summoned Bridget's staff. He faced his staff in front of Dipper's face and blast him at such force because the two of them were in midair. It made 9 go upward like a rocket flying while Dipper got plunged on the ground by the blast.

He never knew that blast is quite powerful that made him go 'blast off' like that. Though he was injured from his 'wings', he managed to land safely. He fell to his knees from exhaustion and the pain from his 'wings'. It felt like it burns his soul because of the strike. Not only it hurt him physically, but also internally. But he never knew he could defeat Dipper in one hit. He didn't mean to hit Dipper on purpose.

His classmates finally regained consciousness from Dipper's attacks. The hit was as strong as 9's and yet they still never expected that for a city boy like Dipper. They saw Dipper was unconscious while 9 was kneeling on the ground. What they knew that 9 defeated Dipper.

Dib: Elijah, did you do this?

9: *saddens* I...I didn't mean it on purpose. I just...

Mordecai: Don't. Just take a break for a while. *looks to Dipper* We'll take care of him.

9 nodded in agreement while looking to his classmates about Dipper's state. He felt so sorry about what happened to Dipper yet he felt so silly in blasting Dipper. He didn't want to hurt anybody. Like the time he blasted Kyoko and almost killed her when her body almost rot. It was a good thing Finn was with her. Unlike him...His classmates were lucky. They were there whenever trouble arrives between the 8 of them. And them being vigilantes, that would worth their friendship. Them and them only.

The group went to Dipper as he was unconscious of 9's attack. The blast is quite powerful to do this. Though 9 defeat him by himself, the others were not impressed. As they are SUPPOSED to be the ones to do it and not 9. But what questioned them that why Dipper was defeated by 9 and not them. Maybe it was something to do with Dipper being 'Inherited' or maybe...they were lured to a trap.

Dib sensed danger like a flash of lightning that struck him close. They were indeed lured into a trap. And 9 was the one who's standing a trap.

Dib: *to 9* RUN! IT'S A TRAP!

9: *gasped in horror* A trap?!

Then there were ropes. Ropes that were in the same color of the ropes that 9 got strapped into at Day 4. The ropes emerged on the ground all of a sudden like someone put a growing serum that went a little wrong. It was everywhere, like multiple gymnasts were dancing like crazy to him.

It suddenly wrapped around him. His arms, his legs, even his neck (Good thing it didn't wrap his neck tight...). It happened to him so quickly. He can't move. He was trapped.

The students gasped in shock. Dib ran to 9 because of his vision, a downside of his powers that it always came to him quite late. But all of a sudden he felt a clean pain in his chest. He couldn't breathe and he felt like the world is spinning. And then he passed out. When the students saw his state, they saw a clean cut on his hoodie. But it didn't stopped there.

In just a quick attack, the remaining students were hit severely from the invisible maiden. Then all of a sudden, someone sends them black lightning on the ground that creates a shockwave that it made them passed out from the shock. Including Aliana, Ratchet, Twilight and Mabel. Leaving 9 the only one. He was alone. Trapped. He tried to break free from the ropes but he didn't forget that the ropes would make it more tighter. And then he hear a voice. Someone who he is familiar with.

Unknown: You know it is quite stupid in breaking free from the last time. The more you struggle, the more you get constricted with it.

9: *thinking* Is she...

He looked to dark corner of the gardens. Two red eyes were glowing in the pitch black darkness and then someone walked out from the darkness followed by a 'joyful' laugh.

It was a girl with black hair that reached above her knees and a headphone was worn on her head while blue lights lit up. She wore a black jacket and pants along with red boots. She was holding a sword on her hand while holding the red rope that connects to the ground on the other. She walked towards 9 and throw the rope to the ground. When she went close to him, she stared at him until the time she hugged him like someone who is lost is now found. 9 didn't know why she was like that. But for some reason he felt a sharp pain from his back. The girl was actually grasping 9's cloak quite tight in anger, though he felt something liquid behind him.

Girl: I'm so glad that I found you. For at long last I found you... *pulls out the hug* Bridget.

9: *eyes widen* B-Bridget? *breathes heavily* Who...Are you...Bridget's sister?!

Girl: I am. My name is Natalie Salvacion, Bridget's OLDER SISTER.

9: Wha...

Natalie: *scoffs* I knew you would say that. Allow me to explain, Bridget was my younger sister when she was born in 1998. I grew hatred to her because she got the most attention from her parents. But when she got amnesia, I completely lost my mind because I almost killed her.

9: Why? What happened? Who did it?

Natalie: *thinking* Bridget was right, he does have a lot of questions to answer. Looks like he was still new in here for a doll who smells like he didn't took a bath in 52 years. *sighs* It was Fate, my dear. It was Fate who almost killed my sister...And eventually succeeds. And look at you now, Inherited by my sister that because you killed her in the first place.

9: First place?! I didn't kill her! It was those kidnappers who killed her, not me! *eyes turned green* I didn't mean to...I didn't mean it!

He begins to have another breakdown because of Bridget's name. Natalie notices 9's eyes turning green and his Comet Mark glows. She also notices the ropes were shaking that probably that 9 was struggling a little. She knew her sister was dead, she blamed 9 for killing Bridget even though he was telling the truth. This made Natalie remind of her sister. Bridget was also like this when she was young. She was lonely until she found her friends at the age of 12. It envied her, but she is satisfied that his classmates were not close to him much. That serves him right as the Inherited One. Speaking of the Inherited One...

She grabbed 9's shoulders tight. His eyes turned back to normal because she was holding his shoulders a little too tight. Her face was filled with slight anger from the incident.

Natalie: Didn't mean it...Didn't mean it?! Then try to explain you had Bridget's necklace.

9: Bridget gave it to me before she dies. She said it'll be-

Natalie: *mockingly* -The last hope for the school. I already knew that. You're not the only one who is 'The Last Hope' around here. In fact, you're not the 'Hope' that I knew more than those *gestured to the students* intruders getting in my way.

Intruders? Not 'The Last Hope'? What does that supposed to mean? They were vigilantes who want to save people and Natalie considered them as Intruders from her point of view?! How come she barged in the school to get 9 and now she didn't care anymore? Look like there must be something about what happened the last time.

9: *glares slightly, curious* What do you want from me?

Natalie: *surprised at the question* What do I want from you? *scoffs* Isn't it obvious why I tied you up in numerous ropes instead of one? Of course not *summons her sword*.

9: *notices the sword pointed to his brooch, eyes widened* What are you going to do?!

Natalie: I just wanted to get something back from me. Don't worry, it will be painful if you resisted.

She grabbed 9's shoulder while beginning to drive her sword to 9's brooch. Magically, the sword glows red while it slowly pierces 9's brooch and through him internally. It was painful, very painful. Worse than the black lighting that struck his 'wings'. It literally pierced his soul from the inside. Then all of a sudden, Natalie pushed her sword in full force purposely that made 9 scream from the pain. Like his soul is getting sliced in half slowly. His vision is fading as Natalie pushed her sword again. She smiled menacingly as she watches her subject get tortured. She almost got what she wanted.

Until she got hit by a wrench-like weapon by the head including a blast. This made her fall down with her sword being gripped on her hand. 9 felt numb when the sword pulled off from his chest. The wrench went back to the user's hand, Ratchet's hand. Ratchet awakens along with Twilight by the time they heard 9's scream. Actually, Twilight was the one who awoke first followed by Ratchet since she got hit the second time. Also she heard a voice when she was knocked unconscious.

9 was looking to the ground because of the pain is still inside him. Ratchet and Twilight looked at 9 from his state, 9's face is completely blank. Ratchet put his hand on his shoulders but making sure that he didn't touch the ropes.

Ratchet: Elijah, are you alright?

9: ...I...don't...know...

Twilight: Natalie really hurt him from the inside. The ropes weren't helpful enough to him.

Ratchet: Just what does she do to him?

Twilight: I read from a book before, Natalie was using a spell in splitting Elijah's soul out of it.

Ratchet: Just how painful was it?

Twilight: Painful. Very painful.

Ratchet: He's really injured. We have to get him off before-

Something just blast Twilight and Ratchet that it sends them to a tree. 9 looked to them shockingly. He's still weak from what Natalie did to him. Ratchet recovered from the blast and tries to stand up. But he's injured and Twilight does also, then he saw sword right in front of him. He looked up and gasped. It was Dipper fully recovered from the blast that 9 gave him. His face shown that he is not amused from what 9 did to him. Twilight opened her eyes and saw Dipper in front of them.

Twilight: *eyes widened* Dipper, please don't.

Dipper: *curiously* Dipper? Who's he?

Ratchet: Wait...you don't know...who you are?

Dipper: *holds his head, cringes* I don't...But *glares, points his sword to Ratchet and Twilight* why should I want to know?

Twilight: Oh no...

Ratchet: Not good!

Dipper raised his sword and swings it towards them. Until a blast hit Dipper's hand that it made his sword flew up in the air. Dipper turned around and saw 9 holding Bridget's staff. He knew that 9 was free from Natalie's ropes since he saw Dib's glass shard on Dib's chest. But Dipper didn't care about it and just picked up his sword from the ground.

Dipper: Who the heck are you?

9: It's-*going to say his real name, but dismissed it* - Elijah Oppenheimer. I'm your classmate. Remember?

Dipper: Classmate? I think it was more than an enemy.

9: What makes you say that?

Dipper: Natalie. She said that you were my enemy. That I had to eliminate you before it's too late.

9: What do you mean? She's the enemy, Dipper. Not me.

Dipper: Dipper? Why do you call me that name?

9: Because *realized something* ...It's who you are. Natalie must have done something to you that you don't know your name. And maybe your family.

Dipper: Family? What family?

9: Your mother, your father, even your sister. Mabel Pines?

Dipper: Mabel? Who's Mabel?

9: *shocked at the results, sighs in disappointment* Dipper, what has she have done to you?

Dipper says nothing from the question. He could only glare at 9 who is completely disappointed what might Natalie have done to his memory. Instead, Dipper jumped up high and released red ropes that creates a cage between 9 and Dipper to their classmates on the other side. Dipper used his sword and creates a circle around him and forms beams. He points his sword to 9 while the beams came towards him. 9 managed to use his Savior to block Dipper's attack. It caused an explosion to them. Though the smoke made 9 pretty hard to see, he could see Dipper heading towards him with his sword. 9 blocked it with Bridget's staff and activates his 'wings' to fly. But Dipper summons red ropes that wraps 9's 'wings' so he can't fly. He pulled the ropes as 9 was being pulled down by Dipper.

Though the impact is not that painful, his 'wings' made his back having a major backache. 9 went back to his knees only to be dragged by Dipper because the ropes were on his 'wings'. Dipper attempts to stab 9 but his sword was blocked by 9. With this, it turned a battle. The two of them were fighting, the rope became 9's handicap since it was Dipper's advantage. But Dipper had a hard time to get his hands on 9 since he was holding his sword on his hand while he was holding the rope on the other.

On the other side of the barrier, Twilight and Ratchet were watching the battle. It was no hope in helping 9 since they were blocked by Dipper's barrier. Aliana woke up from the attack and saw what 9 and Dipper may be doing. She saw Twilight and Ratchet by the tree watching them fighting. She felt something is suspicious from what happened right now. And then she realized something about having Dipper fighting to 9. It wasn't good. She went to Twilight and gives her a card.

Aliana: Go and call the Elements of Harmony.

Twilight: Why?

Aliana: If you don't then Dipper and Elijah will die!

Ratchet: What's that supposed to mean?!

Aliana: Natalie chose Dipper not only because Dipper was the chosen one to be Inherited by her, but Dipper was Elijah's classmate. If the two students were fighting with even powers from their Inheritors, none of them will win.

Twilight: *realized something* You mean, if they didn't stop fighting it will turn to an endless battle to the death?!

Aliana: I'm afraid so.

Twilight says nothing but galloped to call her friends with the card. She had to call them to save her classmates. Speaking of classmates, the students woke up from what happened to them. They remembered what happened to Dib when 9 was caught from those ropes. They saw Dib who is motionless from the ground while his shard laid on his chest. And then they saw the battle between Dipper and 9. They tried to go through the barrier, but they can't. They could do nothing but watch. Then Phineas had an idea, which it is quite risky. He summons his umbrella and places his badge on the handle. The students took notice from Phineas' idea. He pierced his umbrella that glows because of his badge to the barrier. It made the umbrella passed through, but made Phineas having a hard time to make it last longer.

Mabel woke up from the blast as Twilight's friends came with her. Her friends got their Elements ready. All of them were surprised at what they saw. 9 is losing from the fight.

Twilight: Oh no!

Pinkie: We gotta do something!

Mordecai: There's nothing we can do.

Fluttershy: What do you mean?

Tails: The barrier is too strong to get through.

Kyoko: Believe me, I tried.

Mickey: But Phineas was able to break the barrier but we have to wait for Phineas to make the hole fit enough for your attack.

Rainbow: Wait? Wait?! We are already wasting time for him!

Dipper and 9 were standing face to face with each other. The ropes that connects to 9's 'wings' were still intact. Both of them were tired, but that doesn't stop them from the fight. They decided to just end it. The two launched themselves forward with their weapons readied on their hands. They clashed their weapons at one time and ended up in the other side. It was a complete silence for them. Until 9 winced as he fell from his knees. His arm had a rip that he let go of Bridget's staff and fall to the ground.

And then all of a sudden a rope wrapped around his ripped arm and pulled him to see Dipper summoned the rope. His arm got also wounded. Dipper disabled the ropes on 9's 'wings' only for him to tie 9's other arm. He pulled 9's arms though 9 tried to keep his ground, it's like a tug-o-war thing.

His Comet Mark was blinking for all of a sudden that it made him wonder. But then there was a flash on his head, a picture that someone needs help. Then he realized something, if the Dipper he sees is not Dipper then maybe the Dipper he knew is inside his mind. Trapped within the oblivion. He had to help him. 9 grabbed the ropes while his Comet Mark glowing. He closed his eyes hoping it would concentrate while finding Dipper in his mind.

Dipper. I know you're in there. Please!

9 opened his eyes sadly. He knew that the only way to defeat Dipper is to kill Dipper. Mercilessly that is. He lowered his arms and let Dipper pull him close. Dipper let 9 tripped on the ground for fun. 9 look up to Dipper sadly. He closed his eyes as Dipper swing his sword to him sadistically. Until a voice came.

Aliana: Elijah, duck!

Phineas opened the barrier with all his strength as the Elements of Harmony released a ray of rainbow to Dipper. 9 followed Aliana's order as the rainbow passed before him to Dipper, face-first. The force is incredibly strong that Dipper was pushed by the ray that it sends him quite far. That includes 9 who is still caught in Dipper's ropes. The two of them got tumbled until they slammed to a tree.

The barrier disintegrates in front of them. Ratchet and Twilight ran to Dipper and 9 in concern, followed by Twilight's friends. Mabel was going with them until she was stopped by Mordecai and Aliana.

Ratchet and Twilight arrived in a seemingly destroyed trail of trees. They saw Dipper laying on a boulder while 9 was laying on the ground unconscious. Aliana came and went to 9. She place him on her lap and wait for him to wake up calmly. 9 opened his eyes slowly as he saw Aliana sighs in relief that he's okay. He sat up and saw the students, Twilight's friends and Dipper who is unconscious on the boulder but will wake up soon.

Mordecai saw Dipper but he took the notice like he didn't even care about Dipper. He called Kyoko quietly as he gave Kyoko a sharp dagger. Kyoko looked to Mordecai as he gestured to Dib who is terribly injured but more likely survived. She took notice of it and walked to Dipper.

9 noticed that Kyoko has holding a dagger in her hands while going to Dipper. When Kyoko came to Dipper, she raised the dagger slowly. 9 realized something, Dipper said that the only way to defeat him was to kill him. Did Mordecai told Kyoko to kill Dipper? Or maybe Mordecai was told by someone.

9: *gasps* No! Wait! STOP!

Kyoko: *near miss, withdraws the dagger* WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT FOR?! I almost get it in one swing if you hadn't interrupt me.

9: But we can't kill him! His sister-

Mabel: *eyes glowing in blue, dull voice* I already know it. There is no need to refuse. Dipper will continue to kill anyone if he isn't stopped.

Mordecai: Dipper told you about it. Did he, Elijah?

9: *saddens* He did. But why killing? Isn't there any other way to save him?

Kyoko: *sighs in disbelief* Believe me, we tried everything.

Mordecai: None of the victim's friends even know. Because we altered their memory just so the victim will be happy.

Mickey: Killing is the only way, Elijah. There is no other choice.

Aliana: So far, we placed Mabel in a 'Memorium' stage. A stage which we will change her memories that she is the only child, she wouldn't remember that she has a brother.

9: But...this isn't fair!

Aliana: Life...isn't really fair, Elijah. Why won't you accept it?

9: It's because...I...don't want to- *realized something* They did say everything, but that was before. Before I awoke. Maybe...*to Kyoko* You said you tried everything, right?

Kyoko: Isn't it obvious? We tried everything. Even those spells Bridget showed us didn't worked.

9: But that was before. I think I have an idea.

Kyoko: Don't even-

Aliana: *interrupt* Wait, I think Elijah is up to something. Ms. Sakura said 'We' and 'Before', what about *gestures to 9* 'He' and 'Now'?

Kyoko: *shocked* You gotta be kidding. He? It's impossible, we tried everything before!

Aliana: Come on, all of you did your chance to save the others before. Why won't you give Elijah a chance?

The students were shocked at what she's saying. 9, the student who is a total screw up since enrollment will save Dipper?! Was Aliana lose her noodle or what? Aliana gestured to 9, he understand what she says. Twilight's friends gave way in doubt to 9. He didn't looked to them and proceeds to go to Dipper. He put his hands onto Dipper's birthmark. He closed his eyes as he says something silently that no one can hear what he was really saying.

Then all of a sudden, 9's ribbons were unraveled. His Comet Mark is glowing blindly and releases green mists around them. He opened his eyes that were green and saw that Dipper's birthmark is restoring. The black mark was slowly disintegrating, even the red ropes that tied 9 up also disintegrates.

The light faded as 9's green eyes turned back. Dipper opened his eyes and see he was back to his usual clothing, including his hat. All of them were surprised. The students said that they tried everything and 9 was the one who saved not only his classmates but Dipper who was controlled by Natalie. They cheered in happiness as Mabel hugged his brother once Aliana disables the 'Memorium' on her.

9 smiled from what he did, but it faded as he fell to Aliana's lap. He was extremely exhausted from that move, almost unconscious. But he was happy he did it.

And then there was a laugh from Natalie.

Natalie: *crosses her arms, sarcastically* Would you look at that, Elijah Oppenheimer saved Dipper Pines from despair. But you still know that his powers were unable to erase inside him. So it's not over yet.

Twilight: *sighs* Natalie, if you want to bother someone it's neither Elijah or us. You have caused a lot of trouble today.

Ratchet: And to think Soul Splitting to Elijah? Are you even nuts?!

Natalie: It was meant to be, Ratchet. There was only one soul in a body, Elijah was a stubborn one. He didn't allowed me to go inside him. Such a shame.

Aliana: Natalie...

Natalie: What? I'm just telling the truth. It was such a shame to him, suffering. His family left him, his friend left him and now he was accused for SOMETHING HE DIDN'T DO.

Dipper: You were the one who sabotaged the Quiz Bee, not Elijah.

Finn: She did?

Aliana: I knew it.

Natalie: *laughs evily* So you all knew. Well to bad you figured it out too late. *to 9, evilly* You are such an idiot! Look at what happened to you now, you had no friends, your own family left you because you were such an idiot to live with and no one will understand in how you feel because you are idiotic to tell about it.

9: *holds his head painfully* No! Just stop...Stop it!

Natalie: Sorry Elijah but that's who you are, an idiot of the crowd.

Aliana: Natalie Salvacion if you just want to tease him, get out of this place and leave him alone! Your job is done here. Leave now or else!

Natalie: *shrugs happily* Okay. I'll leave you Intruders for now *walks away slowly, turns around* But I'm not finished with all of you. *to 9* Enjoy your suffering in this world, Elijah Oppenheimer...No *raises her hand in the air, black lightning flashed* 9!

The lightning flashed above her and instantly disappears. The students looked to 9 whose face looked blank until he cried to Aliana's arms. Aliana was quite mad from what Natalie did to her student but she didn't showed this to anyone. She continued to comfort him as his cries echoed to the students. Dipper was the most as he is the one is involved.

The next day, Dipper was seen walking to the hallway who seemed like nothing happened to him. Twilight and Ratchet were also seen walking to the same hallway when they saw Dipper.

Dipper: Hey...

Ratchet: How's your head?

Dipper: Never better.

Twilight: We're glad you're okay. But...aren't you aware of what Natalie said to you?

Dipper: I am. But Ms. Divino said that I will have a training with Elijah. She said it's a 'just for emergency' thing. Just in case Natalie comes to my mind again.

Ratchet: How's your sister?

Dipper: *thinks about it, saddens* The usual. Ever since they erased Mabel's memories about what happened to me, she was her own self I guess.

Twilight: So does my friends also. They felt sorry about Elijah.

Ratchet: *crosses his arms* She really did it out of him.

Dipper: Speaking of Elijah, how is he?

Ratchet: Aliana gave him a day off so he...can relax for a while from what happened.

Dipper: *rubs his arms* It's all my fault. I should have never fight that monster in the first place, then Elijah wouldn't be sad.

Ratchet: But if hadn't came, then Elijah would be dead for now.

Dipper nodded in agreement but he knew that it is still his fault. He looked at his journal that somehow there was a Daisy inside like a bookmark. There was also a note that reads: I will never forget. He looked to Twilight and Ratchet in sorrow.

At the rooftop, 9 was seen sitting at the balcony in his vigilante form. He think that maybe it would ease his mind a little. His face showed a blank expression, he was thinking of what Natalie said to him. What if everything she said was true. That he's an idiot, that his so called 'Family' left him. Maybe it is true.

9 hold Bridget's necklace sadly as he rests his arms to his knees. And cried.

Natalie was watching him. She smiled but quickly fades away as her tears flowed to her face. She mouths something to her mouth that 9 can't hear.

I'm sorry.

Jet was seen at his room. His wall was filled with pictures similar to Natalie's. He was talking at his phone about something. The pictures were captured in an abandoned building through security camera. He seems like he is interested to go but he's scared that he didn't want to go inside.

Jet: *through phone* Are you kidding me? I don't want to go in there, with or without friends...Well I can't ask the students to go in there!
