Demon of the Elemental Nations

Chapter 25

As he flew through the Land of Snow towards his team he continuously tried to reach out to the spirit of the Devil Arm but as he got no respond he figured it might be a more silent one like how Alastor and Ifrit are.

This made wielding it easier, since he didn't have to pair with a spirit, but it made learning its powers more difficult and naming it even more so.

Now wasn't the time to try and figure it out as he figured he'd get that all sorted out later since right now they needed to get out of the Land of Snow before Kakashi possibly used his ninken to track them if he felt like it. Thankfully it seemed his group was already making their way towards where the boat had dropped them off at.

As he caught up with them he reeled back on the speed and altitude before he landed on the snow next to where they were apparently waiting for him.

"Whoa Nii-san! Is that a new Devil Arm?" Karin asked as she rushed to his side to look over his new lantern before the others joined her.

"Yeah when I killed the demon guarding the gate it gave me this. So far it's a nifty lantern that can slow down time a bit and with it I can fly a bit" he said as Kurotsuchi rose an eyebrow.

"You mean like Geryon?" she asked before he chuckled and nodded.

"Exactly like that since that was the demon guarding the Hell Gate. It took me a bit to get used to the time slowing down thing while fighting it but I was able to kill it and even get some practice using it in a fight" he said, making Samui frown slightly.

"What kind of practice?" she asked as Naruto pointed to Karin with a smirk.

"She gave my card to Koyuki and the princess ripped it in her cell as Doto apparently captured her. I decided to save her and I listened to her before I decided to fight and kill Doto. The bastard had some weird experiments done on him to make it so he could transform into a demon so it wasn't that bad to put him down" he said with a shrug of his shoulders before he ruffled Karin's hair.

"Plus I think it put us in good standings with her if she takes up leadership of the Land of Snow" he said with a smile until it turned into a bit of a frown. "Though we really do need to leave soon-ish as, just as I was talking with Koyuki, Team Seven showed up and I had to leave quickly. She had to tell them that I saved her since she couldn't really cover and say she escaped and killed him so I'd rather get out of here before they possibly bother us or something" he said as they all nodded and started to head back towards the drop off point while Karin told him of her interaction with Koyuki and Team Seven.

"I'm sorry I did all of that but I couldn't just leave her there. Plus Tayuya and Sakura were able to handle the ninja that were after her" Karin said a bit worried that she might have disappointed him before he patted her head with a chuckle.

"Relax Karin, you did good and kept yourself hidden so that's all that matters. Trust your instincts when it comes to stuff like that" he said as they arrived at the spot, already able to see the boat driving towards them as close as it could. "You have a good head on you Karin so I can trust that you won't do anything too reckless, well nothing as reckless as something I might do" he added with a chuckle before they jumped down onto the water and towards the boat.

Karin couldn't help but smile brightly at her Nii-san's praise as they boarded the boat that quickly turned around and started to drive them home.

Naruto let out a sigh of exhaustion as he collapsed on one of the boat's seats with Samui and Kurotsuchi sitting next to him while Sakura sat next to Karin and Tayuya headed down below deck. "So what next when we get home?" Samui asked as he frowned slightly.

"Well after I relax for a day or two I'm going to start researching more of Geryon from Dante and Vergil's books to see if I can find a name for this thing as well as what it can do" he said as he shook the lantern in his hand.

"For now let's just focus on getting home then we can figure out what to do next since we have a lot of things to factor in before we decide" Kurotsuchi said as they nodded while the boat sped along towards their home.

-Land of Iron – The Next Night-

Naruto let out a groan as he buried his face in one of Vergil's many books that he had written about nearly every demon he and Dante had seen in the world as well as in Hell. Thankfully that ancestor of his was organized but the fact it wasn't in alphabetical order made things incredibly difficult, especially since he had skimmed through at least 12 books out of his 30 or so set with no luck of finding Geryon.

'I know it's been years but do you think you can remember which book has which demons? Did you do it by order or by like elemental genre?' he asked in his head as he continued to flip through some pages, looking for the art depiction of Geryon since while Vergil wrote the info it turned out Lady drew all the pictures very skillfully.

"I am sorry, it is rather hard to remember the order of things after so many years" Vergil said with a frown as he had been trying to remember to try and make this less difficult.

'It's fine, it's not all that bad' he thought back as he closed another book and set it on the 'read' pile before grabbing another from the bookcase.

This went on for a while longer before, after two more books, he found Geryon's entry.

'Finally!' he thought with a sigh of relief as he read through its entry.

'Geryon was once a horse of legend ridden by countless heroes until ingesting demonic essence corrupted and empowered him with limited control over time. He leads a ghostly hearse, equipped with heavy armament' the main article said as he continued to skim through it, trying to find anything relating to the lanterns on the carriage before he seemed to find something about it.

'After becoming demonic Geryon settled on ferrying dead souls through the afterlife. The souls of the dead, compressed into a Ignis Fatuus (translation: Will o Wisp) that were transported through the lanterns on its demonic carriage that was commonly full of demons ready to harvest souls' it read as he frowned and looked over the lantern.

"Ignis Fatuus…that could be a name for it since it's a better name than 'Lantern' or anything stupid Dante thought up" he said as all of Dante's names were ridiculous.

He smirked as the lantern's flame burst for a second after he said the name he decided before he picked it up and leaned back in his chair. "Ah so you might not have a soul but you can still respond a bit. Does this mean you like the name Ignis Fatuus?" he asked as the lantern's light burst up again in approval before he set it back down before he heard a throat clear behind him.

"Are you going to come to bed? It is rather late after all" Kurotsuchi said as she and Samui were standing in his study's doorway while she placed her hands on her hips and Samui just frowned slightly.

"Yeah I'm sorry girls I was just trying to research more about my lantern which I guess is now called Ignis Fatuus. It just took longer than I thought it would" he said with a frown as he set down the lantern and got up from his chair.

"It's okay but please don't stay up so late, you need sleep especially after everything" Samui said as he nodded and held one of hers and Kurotsuchi's hands before kissing the back of their hands.

"I know and I'll go to bed right now I promise" he said with a smile as they chuckled and started to lead him up towards the room.

"Good boy because tomorrow we are relaxing with a date since Tsunade plans to take Sakura and Karin to train in the Slug's summon realm with Shizune while Tayuya is going to look after the house while we are away" Kurotsuchi said as Naruto could only smile, happy to have some time with his girls before shit inevitably hit the fan.

As it always did.

-Konoha – Root Headquarters-

Danzo frowned as he overheard the news from his subordinate of not only how the Hell Gate in the Land of Snow had been destroyed but how Naruto Uzumaki had killed Doto, his would be ally, before escaping to god knows where.

"So you are saying not only did Koyuki say he saved her but your team came in contact with a girl hidden under a cloak before that? Is that right Sai?" he asked as the subordinate nodded.

"Yes Danzo-sama, the girl did not talk and left before I could get close to her. Sasuke Uchiha did talk and communicate with her a bit before she ran off" the subordinate, now identified as Sai, nodded as he stayed in his bow in front of his leader.

'This could prove dangerous for the later stages of any plans involving the Hell Gates. This most certainly is not good' he thought before he turned to face his left.

"Fu come here" he said as an auburn haired man stepped out of the shadows, bowing down on one knee with his head bent down. The man was one of his two main subordinates, Fu Yamanaka with the other being Torune Aburame.

"What may I do for you Danzo-sama?" Fu Yamanaka asked as he looked up towards him.

"Ready the Hell Gate in the Land of Stone and prepare our travel gear. That Uzumaki has been too much of an annoyance and we need to rid ourselves of him" Danzo said as he narrowed his lone visible eye before Fu nodded.

"Does that mean I am to bring those two items for you and me?" Fu asked as Danzo nodded.

"Yes if we are to kill him we will need to use them and pull out all the stops" the bandaged veteran said as Fu nodded and quickly melded back into the shadows. "Sai I want you to stay and continue your mission, try and get closer to Menma and Sasuke to gain their trust. If Sasuke seems like he is to abandon Konoha use your tool to end his life and try to save his head" he ordered as Sai nodded before Danzo waved him off.

He needed a Hell Gate to lure the man out and with the choices between the one in the Land of Stone and the one in the Land of Mist the one in Stone was easier to access and would allow them better placement to wait for the annoyance to show up.

Plus if he was indeed traveling with the village's jinchuriki, who he figured to be the cloaked girl as that was the only person who made sense, then if he was to come he most likely would bring her and possibly allow them to recapture her.

Meaning even if they didn't kill the boy they could regain their Bijuu and seal the beast into a more controllable container if need be.

The boy had far outlived his worth and if the plan he had in mind for Fu worked out then all his tools would be his alone instead of having to share them with Orochimaru.

Danzo smirked as he continued to his chambers to prepare himself for what he knew was a coming battle since if he was going to fight that boy he'd have to be completely ready for it.

-Week Later – Land of Iron-

Naruto frowned as he just got off the phone with Onoki after the man had told him about the dangerous increase in demons in the Land of Stone.

"Why the long face Naruto? You should be glad that we have possibly found another Hell Gate so soon after the last one" Kurotsuchi said as sat down on his desk with a smile as she was somewhat glad to be travelling back home and be able to show Karin her homeland.

"I am glad but if Orochimaru and or Danzo are behind the Hell Gates they should be acting even more cautious since I just destroyed one. They would be toning down on the demonic activity if anything to keep their gates hidden" he said as it honestly didn't make sense to him considering how those two men were.

"You think it might be a trap or something? You think one of those men might willingly sacrifice up a Hell Gate just to get you there?" Samui asked from the doorway with a frown as she didn't like the idea of it being a trap.

"I can see them doing it if they thought they had some way to kill me but I'm not sure. Danzo's been in the shadows since the invasion so I don't know what's going on with him" he said with a groan before leaning back in his chair and running his hand down his face.

"So are we still going to go?" Kurotsuchi asked since as much as she wanted to show Karin Iwa she definitely didn't want to when there was a chance of danger.

"Yeah we are but not all of us are going" he said as he stood up and walked out of the room past Samui.

"So who all is going?" Samui asked while she and Kurotsuchi followed him.

"I think for this one only the three of us should be the only ones to go. Tsunade, Shizune, and Tayuya can keep an eye on Karin and Sakura. If this is a trap or something like I feel it is in my gut then I don't want to endanger Karin or Sakura because of it" he said as he now had to figure a way to tell Karin and have her understand why he was still going even though it might be a trap.

Thankfully, as he packed the motorcycle up, Karin had calmed down after making him promise to return home safely with Samui and Kurotsuchi as well as having to take Alastor with him in case he needed it.

"Now Tsunade is in charge while we are away like always so mind her and what she says. Tayuya continue yours and their training while we are away but don't run them to the ground" he said as Sakura and Karin nodded before Tayuya waved them off.

"I got it, have a safe drive" Tayuya said as Karin caught him in a tight hug.

"Be safe Nii-san, I don't like you going when it might be dangerous but I know it's for the best for you to check it out" Karin said as he hugged her back and kissed the top of her head.

"I promise I'll be fine and I'll be sure to take you to visit Iwa soon since Kurotsuchi was looking forward to showing you around" he said while Karin smiled up at him and nodded before letting him go so he could get on the bike with Samui sitting behind him and Kurotsuchi in the side car.

"Have a safe drive you three and Naruto please do be careful and not reckless for once" Tsunade said with a frown, her arms crossed as she gave him a stern look that made him smile and chuckle softly.

"Will do Tsunade, don't worry I'll be careful since the whole sealed away incident really sucked and it kind of made me more alert of my surroundings" he said with a dry chuckle as he had been working on his senses to keep himself from being blindsided like how Minato had back during the Kyuubi fight.

"Call us when you get there and we'll see you when you get back" Tsunade said with a smile before he nodded and started the bike, which after a wave to them, he drove off out of the capital towards Iwa where he had already called Onoki to expect them.

-Danzo – Land of Stone-

"Danzo-sama, we have reports of Naruto Uzumaki entering the Land of Stone through the Land of Grass and is heading towards the direction of Iwagakure" one of his Root ANBU said as the war hawk nodded.

"Good, is Torune and Fu still in position for him when he starts heading towards the Hell Gate?" he asked as the ANBU nodded.

"Yes they are ready to follow through with your plan" the ANBU said as Danzo nodded with a slight smirk.

"Was the girl with him when he crossed the border?" he asked as the ANBU shook his head.

"Only the Tsuchikage's grand-daughter and the jonin sensei from the Kumo team from the previous chunin exams were riding with him on his vehicle" the ANBU added as Danzo frowned but shrugged it off and waved for the ANBU to leave.

'Hmm no child this time but no matter since when Fu gains control of his mind and body, trapping him in that doll, he'll have access to all of his memories and tools so we can figure out where his base is and capture her.

He narrowed his eye as he slid his right arm out from under his cloak to reveal the set of three Sealing Arm Braces that were clamped around his arm. With the fact he might have to deal with the Uzumaki personally he knew he needed to have everything ready, which meant he might have to undo his seals beforehand to use every trick in his book.

With an opponent like Naruto Uzumaki, who fought the Kyuubi and subdued it alone, there was no holding back.

Sorry for the day delay on things, the whole being sick Sunday and half of Monday really got things off track a bit but I am going to try and fix it with next story update or something.

So they escaped the Land of Snow (eventually Spring) and returned home where Naruto found a name for the lantern which is now Ignis Fatuus – which is Latin for will o' wisp. Thanks again Memnon45 for the name of it since I had absolutely nothing and the Latin name fits it and even more with what the word translates to.

So Danzo is moving forward in his plans to get rid of Naruto with the use of Fu (who is now wielding Beowulf) and Torune as well as the boss of the Hell Gate that will be under the control of them. I like my choice for the boss as well as the Devil Arm I have in mind for Naruto to get from it.

Also I have something REALLY awesome in mind for Naruto's fight with Danzo that Memnon45, a good friend of mine, brought to my attention and I am sooooo excited to use it since I never knew about it before he mentioned it. I hope you all like it when I introduce it net chapter or so.
