Chapter 24: Realizations
Everyone there was in shock and worry. They had seen a pony appear in front of Night. Then there was a large dust cloud kicked up and a small scream. Night knew that voice and that scream. His eyes were wide with fear. 'No! not her!' Celestia used her wings to clear the dust. What they all saw was a relief to most but still terrifying to one pony. Dan was standing with his wings spread staring at the pony that had gotten in his way. Night was more than happy to see the only harm that had come to this mare was a cut on her shoulder. Dan noticed it and healed it while wiping away the blood with a simple flick of his horn. He had a vacant expression when he spoke.
"I am sorry that I hurt you. But you should know better than to get into the way of an attacking pissed off alicorn. So tell me why you were so stupid?" Night was staring at the beautiful pony before him. It was his love, his mate, this was Sapphire. She is an alicorn with a white coat, dark blue flowing mane, her wings were out lined in dark blue, she has blue eyes and is the same height as Celestia. Her necklace had stars on it. And her cutie mark was a blue sapphire in the shape of a star.
Sapphire just looked hard at Dan. She couldn't lie that he was very intimidating looking like he was, but that wasn't going to stop her from trying to save her mate. "I couldn't let you kill my mate! Not when it is just stupid pride as a pathetic excuse!" Dan was surprised to hear her call Night her mate. He out of reaction did something he rarely did. He looked at her soul. A ability that only alicorn could perform. What he saw shocked him. She had a pure soul.
Dan stepped back slightly. "You say this being is your mate?" Sapphire nodded. "Yes and if you want to kill him you will have to kill me to!" Night was shocked. "No! she is no part of this!" Sapphire turned to John. "I am to! If you are going to let your or his pride kill either of you then it is your mates fight just as much as yours!" Luna had unknowingly walked up to Dan and nuzzled his neck. "She is right. I never knew you two were willing to kill each other or I would have stopped it myself. Now that is enough. You had your fight. Now calm down and go your separate ways."
John made his staff disappear. "I said I would never hurt my brother anyway so I will do as you say." He was then nuzzled by Sapphire. Dan was reluctant to stop fighting Night and both Luna and Sapphire saw this. Sapphire spoke once more to end this. "I meant what I said. If you want him you will have to go through me. And if what I have heard about you not wanting to hurt innocents is true. Then you will walk away. Please." Dan had been defeated. "If he can earn the love of pure soul like you then he can't be all bad. Luna I will be in the maze." Dan turned back to his normal self and started to walk off. Luna and Nick followed even after being told to let him be alone.
Discord told Celestia they had a problem and to follow him. The pair followed Dan into the maze and met them others as they all came into the middle of the maze. Discord was thrown off as Dan took control of the maze and made it drain his energy. Discord knew Dan must be over powered now and trying to keep in control. but it was still surprising that Dan could just take control of the maze, that on normal days only listened to him, without even trying or letting Discord know. Dan turned to look at Luna who was nuzzling him and then to Nick who was smiling. "What are you smiling at?" Nick gave a huff. "Just proud of you for keeping control. Even when you went into berserker mode."
Discord now knew why what Dan had done made sense. "So that was a chaos berserker mode. I haven't seen that in many years. But how could you do it? and keep control?" Dan and the others looked confused at his statement. Dan was the one to ask first. "What do you mean chaos berserker mode? Ya I can go into a berserker mode. Easier now than before the powers, but ya I learned to control it long ago. So what's with the chaos part." Discord shook himself out of his thoughts and decided to explain to the others who had little clue what he meant.
"What you did was not just a berserker mode but one that only being like me should be able to do. You warped time and space around you like it was a toy. That level of power could create anything or destroy everything. To my kind it was only a legend that only the strongest and best could even try to do. And here you are doing this without even knowing what you are doing. I am glad you can control your berserker mode or you could have caused a lot of damage." Dan's eyes were wide with this information. "You mean I could have… and what would happen if I did this in another world?"
Discord shook his head. "Why would you want to!?" Dan sighed getting annoyed. "Because I don't know what Luna told you about when we were going to return but she was kidnapped and had on a anti-magic collar on. They made me put one on and I lost it when she said she would dissect Luna alive and she wanted to replace her. So ya I lost it. even with the collar they put on me, when I went into that mode the collar did nothing but hold back my normal levels of magic. So I need to know if I just created something that could destroy a world or not!"
Discord and Celestia were in shock. Luna had told them it was just some jerk. They had no clue what really happened. Dan was now worried that he could have wiped out his old world with his lack of knowledge. Discord shook his head. "I am sorry that happened to you and Luna. And no once you get out of that mode any spells you cast in it disappear. So your old world is safe. But how are you able to do something that only my kind has ever done before. And control it when it killed so many before. It just doesn't make sense." Dan gave a small laugh. "Ya it does."
The others looked at him expectantly. "What do I have on?" Nick spoke up finally. "That necklace made by the only one left of its kind." Dan nodded to Nick with a smile. "Bingo! It has your powers in it remember. And it has on some level fused and changed my own magic. So mix the fact I was already a controlled berserker, then through in the chaos you put in, and apparently you get a semi-controlled chaos berserker. Though I still need to work on full control of that form. I wondered why it was so much harder to stay in control. thanks for letting me know before things got out of hand-er hoof." Nick gave a laugh at his friends correction.
Dan turned to him. "Keep laughing. At least I don't have as far to go to change my speech." Nick stopped laughing and gave Dan a hard look. "Come on let's go to the throne room and finish up work for the day." The others agreed and followed Dan back out of the maze and to the throne room. Little did they know that the work of the day was going to just make things worse.
