CrimsonHeresy: Thank you! Wish me luck in the world.
Happy1K1nob1:Ah forget it, class of 13 huh? Same year as my sister, Crap for the missing word, also when she hit the wall she would have knocked into the knob for the water…or something along those lines. I know nothing is moving, its just winding up for movement.
Jakillking999:Sorta…
Slenderbrine: Well…'bout to change that soon.
Adamfast77: I don't have ADHD, although sometimes I think I do as my thoughts spin around faster than one of those things that press you against a wall.
Shadow Solaris: Yup. Both groups are going to be busy and the trio will find Jerry later on.
Ok! So things haven't been up to much with me, I have found a possible job so that's always good.
Also, another note, the chapters will be split up between the four, since Yang and Conner's mission are the closest to Vale, I'll start with them before going to Blake and Will, then Weiss and Damian, then finally with Jerry, Ruby and Sun.
To explain, I mean that for the next few chapters I will switch between each pair. So this chapter will be Yang and Conners mission, then the next will be Blake and Will's mission, and so on.
I guess this will be the "Mission's" Arc.
ENJOY!
P.S. The Yang and Conner chapters were helped by you Slenderbrine.
P.S.S. Thanks Happy for the help nurturing the idea.
P.S.S.S. I have started another fic. If you like Dragon Age Inquisition, I recommend you check it out if you want!
Chapter
The group met outside of Beacon and was currently waiting for the Bullhead to pick them all up; Conner was wringing his hands as he shifted on his feet while Yang was lying on the ground, with her hands behind her head and whistling softly. Will was bouncing eagerly on the balls of his feet, carefully twirling a knife in his hand while Blake had her nose in a book but she kept one of her amber eyes on the excited ginger.
Damian was wearing a black belt and was currently putting bullets inside of a magazine, once he had finished he tucked it onto the belt before taking Project Lance in hand and checking the mag before reloading it into the gun.
Weiss was doing the same with Myrtenaster, clicking through each of the Dust chambers and checking on the amount each chamber contained.
Pulling back on the handle-slide of the rifle, Damian loaded a round before flicking on the safety and putting the gun strap over his shoulders, making sure that the barrel was pointed at the ground.
Rolling his shoulders, Damian then began to move around slightly, shifting left and right as if he was dodging something; then Damian stretched backwards and leaned forwards before quickly sprinting forwards a few steps before slowing to a stop. He then did the same thing however he performed a quick turnaround before rushing back to his spot and slowed to a stop.
"Whatcha doin' there?" Yang asked.
Damian ran a finger underneath the strap of the gun before turning to Yang, "Ensuring that I am adequate in case of a battle."
Weiss scoffed at the statement, Damian however ignored it and returned to his earlier standing point.
After a few more minutes, the sound of a massive engine was heard before the Bullhead came into sight, the massive airship landed and the side panels opened up.
Blake calmly closed her book before striding towards the massive ship, Will noticed Blake's absence and quickly caught up with her as he tucked the throwing knife back into its sheath.
Yang lifted her head up and saw the airship, whistling towards Conner she outstretched her hand; the other blond grabbed it and helped pull the girl up. Together they then walked aboard the ship itself.
Damian walked with Weiss until they got closer to the ship, then Damian jogged forward until he was right near the Bullhead itself, Weiss believed that he would have hopped aboard the ship however she was surprised to see that he had halted and waited for her before offering a hand and saying, "Would you like some assistance Mrs. Schnee?"
Weiss blinked before taking the boys offered hand and he helped her into the ship, while Weiss was not impressed with the boys behavior the past several days she did admire his manners.
"Thank you," she said.
Damian nodded at her before boarding the ship himself.
Blake was sitting next to Will, who was looking around eagerly; Conner was sitting opposite of Weiss who was holding a file in her hand. Yang was communicating with the pilot before walking back out into the main area and grabbed one of the handles on the metal roof.
"We have five minutes until I drop of the two blond students, then another ten until the next drop off, just letting you know."
Conner looked extremely anxious and began to tap his foot against the metal plating of the plane, his eyes fixed on the opposite side of the Bullhead.
Damian looked cautiously at Conner before sitting next to him and placing a hand on his shoulder, "Easy…you'll be fine. Just…remember what you did back in the astrolabe room; if someone comes running up, just throw the shield at their gut. Worst thing that'll happen is getting the wind knocked out of them."
Conner nodded.
Damian patted his shoulder, "Yang is strong, but that doesn't mean you're out. Just…keep a clear head and do your hero thing."
Blake looked at Conner and nodded her head at him, even if he didn't see the cat Faunus do it, she still appreciated Conner as a person.
"Ok. Landing zone is inbound, blondie's are up."
Yang cracked her neck, "Let's go Conner."
Said boy stood up and as the doors opened up he quickly exited the Bullhead.
As the doors shut and the airship took off again, Damian muttered "And then there were four."
Conner's POV…
As Yang and I stepped out of the airship and onto the landing pad, I took that time to examine the town we had entered.
It seemed very…bad.
Only a small handful of buildings seemed to be still properly intact, others seemed to be clinging together by chunks of concrete held together by a spider web of rebar; and that was what I could see.
What happened here?
"Jeez," Yang said, "Place seemed really went through the ringer."
"I k-know…"
"Mrs. Xiao Long?"
We both looked to see a man wearing a heavy overcoat stride up a set of stairs, with a badge hanging from his neck.
As I came out from behind the store with a bag of chips and a half full bottle of Coke Zero, I saw a man slowly approaching, dressed in all blue and a funny looking hat that had some badge on it.
"Hi there," he said softly.
I quickly sprinted in the opposite direction.
"Hey kid! WAIT!"
He didn't know that I had seen the picture he was looking at earlier in the store, one of me.
Yang grinned, "That's me!" she said before placing a hand on my shoulder, "And this is my partner Conner."
The man smiled, "Greetings, I'm Martin Kurusu, the head of law enforcement here. I try to ensure that the people are safe as can be, but there have been some…difficulties."
"As can be?" Yang asked.
"D-Difficulties?" I asked.
The man bit his lip, "I suggest that we continue this conversation inside of the main building if you please."
Yang nodded, "No problem there."
With that, we went off of the landing pad and made our way towards a truck.
"I d-didn't kn-know that t-there wa-was more to V-Vale," I exclaim, "B-But wh-why here?"
Martin laughed humorlessly, "I take it you're new to Vale?"
I shrugged.
It was once we all entered the truck and the vehicle took off that the officer continued speaking, "Vale isn't all that pristine as it seems in the city, the reason this place is considered shady is because it is very close to the outskirts of Vale, where there is hardly enough protection. To explain, Vale is has natural protections that prevent Grimm to invade the city, so there isn't much need for Hunters to patrol the borders; here though, there is no need because we are very close to the natural mountain ranges Vale has, therefore reducing the need for Hunter protection."
"But if things are so bad, then why aren't there any Hunters around?" Yang asked curiously. "Wouldn't they be able to quickly fix this?"
Martin snorted, "The job of Hunters and Huntresses usually fall under fighting Grimm and dealing with high criminal rates," the officer stated, "They don't have time to dirty their hands with investigating on simple hunches."
I didn't fail to notice the grin on Yangs face, "No need to worry then as we're here!"
Martin smiled, "I am very glad to see you here, however…" Martin then leaned forward and his face went stony, "make no mistake some other civilians may not be so…happy."
I understood the meaning with that.
I leaned forward in my seat, "In their eyes, people like us," I gesture between Yang and I, "are no better than the criminals we fight. As we possess the tools to stop them but refuse to use them to do so."
Martin crossed his arms and leaned back into the truck, "What happened to the stuttering?"
I look at him coolly and speak with a matching tone, "That was before I found the townspeople maybe out for our blood."
"They aren't," he replied firmly.
For now.
I didn't ease up and instead diverted my attention outside.
I noticed the buildings that weren't demolished seemed to have the doors hanging like a slack jawed grin; objects ranging between suitcases, fallen clothes, and children's toys were scattered along the house lawns or along the sidewalk.
"You said that you were protecting the people, where are they exactly?" Yang asked.
"Moved," the officer said, "When the attacks started we had to move most of the people from their homes and closer to our current base; a general hospital that they haven't attacked."
"Yeah, what do you mean by attacks?" Yang asked.
As Martin opened his mouth, the truck slowed to a stop.
"We'll continue this in my office," he said.
As Martin hopped off, Yang turns around, "This is it!" she exclaimed happily and grabbed my shoulders before rattling me slightly.
I blinked, "Wh-what is wh-wh-what?"
"We are now Hunters!"
I blinked, "H-How?"
Yang had this really wide grin on her face, "Criminal attacks! Citizens in need, this is going to be great!"
With that, Yang quickly hopped out of the truck and went after the officer…I think.
I frowned as I started to get off of the truck; this wasn't what I perceived her as. She came off as protective, caring and kind of supportive, she always seemed to rush in and help those who needed help, something I admired; however she was kind of brash (Pot calling the kettle black there) and had a serious temper.
Yang seemed a bit too excited for this one.
Hopping off the truck, I peeked around the corner and took care not to be seen.
Groups seemed to crowd the street, huddled together either outside the hospital or along the buildings close by.
"W-W-Will, a-a-are y-you s-s-sureab-about th-th-this?"
Will nodded eagerly at me, "Yup! We'll be safe here."
I looked back, we were currently in a subway tunnel, Will tugged me along here and through a door and on the other side was a small shelter of homeless people, who eyes us in a way that made me shiver.
I pull the stained coat closer, instinctively ducking down.
"Hey," Will said softly, "Its ok. I know they're a little scary, here."
The young boy had carefully grabbed my hand.
"I'm right beside ya," he said with a smile.
Even though we had been travelling together for a few weeks, I felt a bit better.
Together we slowly made our way forward, two little ten year olds trying to survive against the world.
Flipping on my hood, I walked towards the hospital. I could do nothing for the sword on my back however, which quickly drew attention.
"Who's that?"
"He was on the truck with the hot blonde girl."
"Think they're Hunters?"
"If they are it's about freakin' time. Lazy arrogant-"
"Hey! They might be here to help."
"Yeah? We could have used them about a month ago."
"Mama, are they going to stop the bad men?"
"I don't know sweetie."
I look to see where the voice was talking and see a little girl looking at me curiously. I then turned my gaze back to the front of the hospital.
I took what they had said and stored it for later.
While I was quiet, I knew how to listen; it helped when I was defending someone from a bully.
The doors slid open as I walked into the hospital, the smell of antiseptic crashed into my nose.
The lab coats wiped off the needles with those weird smelling cloths before rubbing something along my arm that stung. I couldn't say a thing as they had strapped something over my mouth to stop me from screaming in pain earlier.
"If he's the real deal, then why the precautions?" one asked.
"If he is, do you want to be the guy responsible for killing the subject?"
I clenched my hands and forced myself to move deeper into the hospital.
I noticed how select families were crying as they held the hands of other family members resting on the hospital beds, or had crying babies, either way it wasn't that quiet.
Moving out of the entrance hall, I navigated through the hallways as doctors were rushing through me and the families sitting together on the ground.
"I-I-I don't know, bullets were flying everywhere s-so we all hit the deck. I'm just glad it was to her arm instead of to the head."
"It hurts mama."
"It's ok sweetie, I'm right here."
"I don't like needles…"
"Just close your eyes slugger, then it won't be as bad."
I shook my head from the haze of memories and continued to move down the hall until I accidentally bumped into a hospital attendant.
"Oh! Sorry," I say.
The attendant shook her head, "I-It's my fault, I just need to get back to Maternity Ward and I wasn't paying attention."
I blinked, "Maternity Ward? People are still having kids at this time?"
The nurse shook her head, "Some of the children cannot be cared for properly by their parents, as they were injured in the criminal attacks."
"…would you like some help?"
Officer Kurusu immediately walked straight into the elevator with Yang close behind, as the doors closed shut Kurusu pulled out a Scroll.
"The criminals don't exactly have a name; however we do know their leaders."
After a moment two pictures popped up, one was of a girl with bubblegum pink hair and matching eyes, from the shot Yang could see that she was wearing a white jacket over a dark dress and dark combat boots. In her hands she was holding a katana in her hand and the strap of a gun over her back.
The other was a boy, with dark hair covered by a blue beanie and was wearing a collared, unbuttoned green shirt with a white shirt underneath and a pair of khaki colored cargo pants; Yang also noticed that he had a small pouch on his right hip, as well as a gun in his right hand.
"Girl is known as Juno Basil, while the boy is Mickey Armada; both are around their teenage years and seem to be highly trained in combat. We haven't seen them since they took our old base."
As the elevator dinged, Yang let out a sound of confusion.
"Wait, what do you mean by "Old base"?" she asked as they entered his office.
The "office" was really just a room with a simple wooden desk and chair, several whiteboards around the room and a metal table fan.
Martin bit his lip, "We had managed to capture the both of them, for a brief moment. As we went through the interrogation for them, it seemed that they did have a plan; their troops had quickly overwhelmed us and forced us all out of the building."
Yang raised an eyebrow, "Impressive," she muttered.
The officer fixed her with a look.
The blonde boxer cleared her throat, "Sorry. So you need us to what? Take 'em down? Go in and beat the crap out of them?"
Martin shook his head, "No. I need you to investigate why they flushed everyone out of the city. From what we have seen, they are packing big guns and we need to get a visual to see if there is anything we are missing. That's it; I don't need more people getting hurt."
"Got it," Yang said.
"Great, now we just need…your friend."
Yang looked around, oh boy.
Wincing, I adjusted my grip on the screaming baby and continued to try and calm the child down; cradling it close to my chest I rocked it carefully as I moved around the ward.
Other people were cradling babies and also were also trying to perform the almost impossible task.
"Shhhhh," I cooed, "Its ok, its ok."
The baby continued to cry.
Biting my lip, I concentrated on something I heard once.
A young Julie Andrews with yellow hair.
Ok, how did that song go…?
"Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens~"
The baby quieted slightly.
How did it go again?!
I noticed the baby had continued its wailing.
Dang it!
"Bright…colored flowers and warm woolen mittens~"
"Brown paper packages tied up with strings~"
"These are a few of my favorite things~"
The baby had stopped crying and looked at me curiously with its wide blue eyes.
I started to sway slightly as I continued to sing.
"Cream…colored mocha and crisp apple strudels~"
"Doorbells and sleigh bells and…sauced covered noodles~"
"Seagulls that fly with the sea on their wings~"
"These are a few of my favorite things~"
The baby started to giggle, and so I stopped singing and grinned downwards at the small form, "There you go…"
The baby clapped its hands, "Dobo."
After a few minutes of me continuing to rock the baby, it then clapped its hands again, "Dobo! Cecolo a dobo!"
Dobo…doorbo…doorbells. Cream color and doorbells.
"E-Erm…excuse me."
I turned to see a man walk up, with a screaming baby in his hands and a sheepish look, "Can you…sing that again?"
I anxiously shifted on my feet, "S-Sorry, b-b-but I-I'm not u-used to…s-s-singing."
The man shook his head, "Sorry, but could you?"
I sighed, but the baby I was holding looked at me so earnestly.
…fine.
"Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes~"
"Snowflakes that stay on…the tree and its branches~"
"Silver white winters with no sign of spring~"
"These are a few of my favorite things~"
"When the dog bites, when the bee stings~"
"When I'm feeling sad~"
"I simply remember my favorite things~"
"And then I don't feel so bad~"
After that, both of the babies were no longer screaming and seemed much happier.
However my singing attracted the rest of the nannies, both male and female.
I bit my lip, getting an idea I told them to gather in the center of the Maternity Ward before getting them to sit down in a sort of circle.
Taking a deep breath, as I wasn't used to singing to the public, I then continued the song.
"Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens~"
"Bright colored flowers and warm woolen mittens~"
"Brown paper packages tied up with strings~"
"These are a few of my favorite things~"
A few of the listeners began to nod to the beat as the small children began to quiet.
"Cream colored mocha and crisp apple strudels~"
"Doorbells and sleigh bells and sauced covered noodles~"
"Seagulls that fly with the sea on their wings~"
"These are a few of my favorite things~"

Once I had finished, the people were sighing in relief as their babies had stopped crying in sadness and were giggling happily or just smiling.
Letting out a nervous breath, I was about to sit down and continue to rock my baby, however I saw that Yang and Kurusu were standing in the doorway; Yang was looking in surprise and admiration while Kurusu was impassive.
"S-So," I say before clearing my throat, "t-to the j-job?"
I do not own Sound of Music, or Mirai Nikki.
Also, if there was a moment where Yang was very…out of character, could you point that out? I was having some trouble with Yang.
Read, Have a Great Day and God Bless.
