Chapter 25: A Little Mile-high Flight Attention
Jason's POV
"Roy, I swear to God if you don't shut up-"
"Calm down, Jaybird. You and I have the next five hours to spend together." He smirked.
"Don't call me Jaybird."
"Whatever Jaybird." He replied before flipping the magazine open.
I sighed as I leaned back in the seat and stared out the window of the plane. I put my headphones on just as he elbowed me.
"What!"
He gestured to the stewardess yelling at people to put their trays up because the plane was about to take off. I glanced at the blue-eyed blonde before shrugging.
"I'm not really looking for a relationship right now."
"You do realize that you haven't had a date since Donna, right? And she dumped you like-"
"I don't want to share my feelings right now." I growled as he rolled his eyes.
"Whatever, man… She's cute though."
"And what about the boys? They come first."
"I know how you feel man. I do have Lian and TJ… And it's hard being a single dad." He sighed as he removed his cap to run his fingers through his hair before replacing the cap.
"It is. How is TJ working out?"
"I don't know… He's three. Lian likes him most of the time… It's just that with both of his parents in jail, I didn't really have a choice. He is Lian's half-brother and now she has someone to play with. He's just not..."
"Yours?"
"Something like that." He muttered before the plane jerked.
Out of a reflex, I dug my nails into the first-class seat.
"Aww! You're still not terrified of flying, are you Jaybird?"
"No." I hissed as his grin grew larger. "I don't trust commercial flights… especially when I'm not the one at the controls."
"Sure." He smirked before leaning back in his seat and thumbing through his magazine again.
I tried to put my headphones again before he elbowed me again and shoved his magazine into my face before saying, "Oh look. You're in here… Jason Peter Todd-Wayne, Bruce Wayne's second eldest son is the only single heir to the Wayne fortune."
"Don't remind me." I huffed.
"Wayne is thirty years old and has been seen… Oh my God… It says that you have recently been seen dating… me. Me! What the hell! Who wrote this shit! Vicki Vale! That bitch is getting an arrow through her heart! How dare she write this when you haven't even asked me to go steady yet!"
"Shut up, Harper." I muttered as he started to attract the attention of the stewardess.
She approached us and narrowed her eyes at Roy, before asking, "Did you gentlemen need anything?"
"Your phone number." Roy smirked.
"Sure. It's 1800-NOT-GONNA-HAPPEN." She replied before walking away.
A smirk crossed my face as Roy slumped back in his seat and frowned.
"Shut up, Jason."
About an hour later, Roy face-planted into my shoulder. I rolled my eyes and removed my headphones before shoving him off of me. I unbuckled the seatbelt and moved towards the restroom. I lost my balance as the plane hit an air pocket just as the stewardess was moving down the aisle with a cup of coffee.
We were thrown into each other. I landed flat on my back with her on top of me as the coffee completely drenched me.
Isabel's POV
"I'm so sorry about that! It was an-" I began before he stood up and held out his hand to me.
I became lost in thought as my eyes travelled up to the figure above me… He's tall. His hair was jet black and slightly wavy. His eyes were dark blue almost like a sapphire stone. He wore an old leather jacket and a black T-shirt, which was now stained with coffee. He had on old leather biker boots. His jeans were loose but tight in just the right places… All the right places.
"Um, you okay?" he asked as he still held out his hand and awkwardly stared down at me.
Even his voice is sexy.
I took his rough and calloused hand and he pulled me to my feet… He's definitely hotter in person than in the magazine.
"Yeah… Thanks. Sorry about the coffee."
"Accidents happen."
"Yeah… Did you get burned?"
"I'm fine. I've had worse… Did you… um?"
"Oh. I'm Isabel Ardila and no."
"I'm Jason."
We awkwardly stared at each other as I noticed his redheaded friend giving him a thumb's up.
"You'll have to excuse him. He's an idiot." He huffed as I smiled.
"So, I've noticed… But you love him, right?"
He sighed before shaking his head. "We're friends. Friends only. Our fathers travel in the same circle… And I guess we're kinda family too. My brother married his sister… You shouldn't believe everything you read… especially when it's written by Vicki Vale."
"Right. Sorry. I guess I-"
"Don't worry about it."
"Right… If I may ask, what brings you on this flight from China to Gotham? Business or pleasure?"
"Business."
"You two doing stuff for your dads or something?"
"Yeah... Something like that."

Jason's POV
"Did you at least get her number?"
"No."
"Dude… The moment is lost now."
I rolled my eyes as we got headed towards the baggage claim. I could see Mia looking for something frantically as she held onto Lian, TJ, and Dean. Dean looked like he was about to cry… Where's Sam?
"Daddy!" Lian squealed as she ran straight up to Roy, dragging her brother behind her.
"Where's Sam?" I asked as Mia twisted her hands together.
"Remain calm… Damian's looking for him… It was an accident. The kids were bored so we took them to the arcade and somehow… we lost him-"
"What!"

Isabel's POV
"So you dropped coffee on a billionaire and he was cool with it?" René asked as I shrugged.
"Yeah. I guess."
She rolled her eyes before replying, "Oh please. He probably got his dad to fire you the second we landed."
"I don't think so… He seemed different than those other rich assholes that normally fly with the airline."
"Sure. Whatever. You taking the weekend off or what?"
"Yeah. You?" I asked as we collected our gear.
"Nope. I'm working. Speaking of which, I gotta go or I'll miss the next flight. You know, those beverages aren't going to serve themselves." She huffed before we headed in separate directions in the terminal.
I headed towards employee parking and made it about halfway before the sound of crying caught my attention. I looked over to see some little boy crying in a corner of the airport. I glanced at my watch before sighing. I walked over to him and knelt down in front of him.
"Hey… It's okay. Don't cry… What's your name?"
He shook his head before pointing at me and sniffling, "A-ain't s-supposed to t-talk to s-strangers."
"My name's Isabel Ardila. I work as a stewardess… I guess that doesn't make us strangers anymore. Can you tell me your name now?"
"S-sam." He sniffed as I held out a tissue to him.
"Can you tell me how old you are?"
"F-four… I want Dean!" he screamed.
"Okay… Who's Dean?"
"Sammy!"
I looked up to see an older boy followed by none other than Jason Wayne. I was practically pushed out of the way by the kid who hugged the younger boy with everything he had. I stood up as they were both embraced by Jason… Did I miss something? Or did Vicki Vale miss something?
He eventually stood up with the smaller boy on his hip and his free hand on the older kid's shoulder. Sam wiped his eyes and nose with his sleeve before asking, "What did you bring us, Daddy?"
Daddy! He's married! But he doesn't have a ring and the papers never said anything!
"You'll get it when we get home." He replied as I noticed the older boy glaring at me.
"What were you doing with my brother?"
"Dean. Enough." His father warned.
"It's fine… I found him and I was just trying to help."
"Thank you, Isabel." He sincerely stated.
"You're welcome." I replied.
He actually remembered my name… Didn't see that coming.
"Now would be a good time to ask for her number, Jaybird!" his obnoxious redheaded friend yelled as I turned to find him and several other people staring at us.
