Adam looked up when Michael walked over.

"Hey."

"Hey yourself," Michael sat down next to him to admire the view of the ocean, Adam brushed his hand against Michael's.

The Navy Commander intertwined their fingers, "nice day."

"Yeah," Adam agreed, he smiled and leaned back slightly.

"What are you thinking about?"

Adam shrugged, "I need to talk to Crowley about a few things, mostly business."

Michael turned to look at him, so Adam elaborated, "Winchester Bay Colony is doing alright financially but we need to bring in more merchants. The problem is that some aren't… entirely legal. And you know how strict my father is."

Michael nodded, "so…"

"So I was thinking that when I became Governor I would begin easing some of those restrictions. Crowley seems to be running a fairly successful port so it seemed like a good idea to begin building a business relationship with him."

Michael chuckled, "your father is lucky to have you."

Adam looked down though he knew Michael had seen him grin.

"You and Val get along so that has to be points in your favor."

"But he doesn't like you."

"He's a pirate, I'm in the navy, it's natural."

Adam laughed at that, "okay, but what about you? You've been distracted the past few days."

Michael let out a heavy sigh and Adam was sorry he'd asked.

"I was just thinking about the things I wish I'd done differently. Basically I was facing the past I'd run from."

Adam squeezed his hand, "Michael."

Michael smiled at him, "no, I should've done it a long time ago. But I can't change what I did, and I failed my siblings."

Adam waited, because it was obvious Michael wasn't done.

Michael leaned towards him, "but I can do something about the future so…"

Adam kissed him, releasing Michael's hand to rest his arms on Michael's shoulders, while Michael kept them from falling backwards into the sand.

"And here we have the least dense Winchester and Novak."

"And the crew member of The Loki with the worst timing."

Adam looked over at Matt and Luke, the navigator ignored his friend's attempt to drag him off.

"No, seriously, you two are obviously much faster than your siblings."

"Matt, I will hurt you, come on."

"Fine, fine," Matt waved to them as he was dragged away, "be safe."

"Matt!"

Adam shook his head, "he's kind of a dick."

"I think that's why Gabriel likes him."

Adam grinned and tugged on his shirt collar, "now, where were we?"

"Look Val, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to," Luke interrupted this time, "I was trying to-"

Val stepped out on to the beach, to Adam's surprise, and likely Michael's, he lacked a shirt, "yeah, I know Luke, I'm not mad at you about this one," he turned to the other couple on the beach, "I hate to interrupt, but do you two want to join us?"

Luke, who'd followed him sans Matt, looked slightly disappointed but grinned after a moment, "yeah come on, we're going for a swim in one of the springs."

"One of?" Adam repeated, "how many springs are there?"

Luke shrugged but Val started moving his hand and mouthing words, "around five I think."

Adam had to admit he was a little impressed, "and you want us to come?"

"Yeah sure, the more the merrier, normally we'd invite Matt and Andy but someone messed that up."

"I'm sorry!"

"Don't apologize to me."

Adam decided to interrupt that argument, "so what do you think Michael?"

"Sounds fun," the navy commander admitted, "plus they probably have stories about our siblings."

"You just don't want me to talk to Castiel anymore after he told me about how-" Michael put his hand over Adam's mouth, while Luke and Val chuckled.

He gave Adam a pleading look, widening his eyes in way that reminded him of when Sam would beg Dean for something, "can't I have a little dignity please?"

"No," came from the two pirates.

"I wasn't asking you," Michael looked away from Adam to look at them, and Adam used the chance to take his shirt off.

Michael must've seen the movement in the corner of his eye because he looked back, and looked over Adam with an appreciative sweep of his eyes.

"Come on, join the party," Adam teased before scrambling to his feet, "alright Val, where's this spring?"

Val glanced back at Michael, then grinned at Adam and took off running.

Adam laughed as he followed because Luke and Michael both made sounds of annoyance.

"We aren't going to lose them are we?"

"I hope not," Val replied, tossing it over his shoulder, despite being shorter than Adam he was managing to stay in the lead without Adam having to slow down, "plus I think I can hear Luke crashing through the underbrush with all the grace of Gabriel when drunk."

"Might be Michael," Adam wasn't sure how stealthy the commander could run, especially in the woods.

Something slammed into him causing him to stumble, and he heard Michael's voice in his ear, "what was that?"

Adam struggled against Michael's grip on him, which allowed him to press his against Michael's bare chest, "nothing!"

Michael let him go, Adam whirled to see him grinning at him, and his chest twisted because Michael just looked so… at ease.

"Come on, Luke's caught up too, you graceful thing."

"Oh shut up," Luke stuck his tongue out, "Matt's the graceful one, and I do just fine on a ship."

Val stretched, Adam would admit he was attractive, from an aesthetic standpoint. The fact that he heard Luke audibly inhale suggest his was less on the aesthetic.

Now Michael on the other hand, Adam was concerned that he'd missed just how built the Commander was and decided he need to get him out of all those shirts much more often.

"Where's this spring Val?"

Val hooked his thumb over his shoulder, "little bit that way, let's go."

Adam slipped his hand into Michael's as they followed the blonde pirate into a clearing.

"Whoa," Adam's eyes widened, the spring was the size of a small pool.

"Yeah this the spring we use the most because it's the biggest," Val informed them, then stepped back, before sprinting forward to jump into the water with a large splash.

Luke chose to walk down and slip in, the water came up to the middle of his chest, "wow, that's actually pretty nice. Not too cold or anything."

Adam shoved Michael, "why don't you test for me?"

"Why don't you test for me?"

"Because you're my strong navy command- Michael put me down!" Adam yelped as Michael swept him off his feet in a less than romantic way, and with a smirk that proved his relationship to Gabriel.

"Oh no! Michael I swear if you-" Adam was cut off by being dropped into the water.

He stood up, spluttering and coughing while Michael slipped in. He used one hand to shove water at Michael, "you dick."

Michael laughed, "sorry about that."

Adam glared at him, well tried to with his hair dripping water in his eyes.

He was grateful that Luke had been right and that the water wasn't freezing cold, so he sank down into it, resting his arms on the ground behind him.

Luke was chasing Val around the pool, Val obviously was a better swimmer than Luke, but they were both grinning.

Michael sat down beside him, resting his arm on Adam's shoulders, "this is rather nice."

"Yeah it is," Adam leaned his head back against Michael's arm, "almost feels like a vacation. I could use more of those."

"You and me both."

"I'll talk to the Governor about it."

Michael made a please noise at that, "imagine, a week off to ourselves."

Luke coughed, Adam looked over at him to see him waggle his eyebrows.

"Shut up."

"I didn't say anything!" Luke insisted though he smirked.

"Luke stop being rude," Val splashed at him, "or I'll play tag with Adam instead."

"I feel like Michael would object to that."

"I am rather comfortable but if Adam would like to play…" Michael lifted his arm, Adam smiled at him, in thanks before lunging forward, "I'll bet he catches you first Luke."

"He's not it."

"I am now and Adam's right," Val said as he grabbed Luke, "caught you."

The three of them played tag for a while, with Michale commenting and laughing from the sideline, Adam's skin was getting really wrinkled when Luke called for a break.

He swam over to Michael, who smiled down at him, "having fun?"

"Yes, this is wonderful," Adam could feel his muscles growing tired, but not with stress like they had in the weeks before The Loki's capture, and he stood up, to drape himself on Michael. Michael who easily took his weight like an anchor, steadying him with his arms, his chest warmed by the sun.

He nestled his face in the side of Michael's neck, and just relaxed. He let the whispers of Luke and Val fade into the background, focusing on the sound of Michael's breathing and the feel of his hand in Adam's wet hair.

The sound of people getting out of water made him stir, Val called, "we're going somewhere else, sorry to ditch, if that's okay."

"It's fine," Adam had to repeat himself, he was feeling a little drowsy.

Michael tangled his hand in his hair, "do you want to go back to the house?"

"No, not yet," Adam managed to pry himself on Michael, "did you have a good time?"

Michael moved Adam's bangs out of his eyes, "yes, it was nice to see you fully relaxed for once," he leaned forward to kiss Adam, "makes me think about running away."

"Clearly our brothers have been a terrible influence on you."

Michael laughed a little, "probably. I'm just glad you're happy."

"As long as you're with me I think I'll be okay."

Michael smiled, "I think I can accept that. Can you?"

"Why wouldn't I?" Adam resisted the urge to tilt his head, too much exposure to Cas.

"Maybe because of this," with that Michael dunked Adam under.

Adam popped back up right away, only with a mouth full of water, which he sprayed in Michael's face.

The beginnings of a splash fight was ruined by Val racing past laughing in a way that Adam had to describe as maniacal.

Michael leaned forward, "did he kill Luke and bury him in the woods?"

"I think it's better we don't ask these questions," Adam replied, and then poured water down Michael's back.

/

He was lucky Michael was as forgiving as he was, as he'd pretty much carried Adam back, he'd worn himself out playing. They stopped at the beach to grab their clothes, and then went back to the house.

Adam claimed the couch, only allowing Michael to share it, and that was because Michael let him put his head in his lap.

At some point he must've drifted off because Michael was shaking him awake.

"Hey, it's dinner time."

Adam mumbled something in response but even he wasn't sure what, before he got up, yawning and rubbing sleep from his eyes.

He staggered, literally over to the dinner table.

Crowley eyed him in a way he had no right to, Adam had seen the man's liquor collection and he hadn't touched any of it.

"You aren't going to pass out in your food are you?"

Adam tried to glare at him but knew he failed miserably.

"Quit botherin' the boy, ya idjit, he's just tired," Bobby shoved the ex-captain, "now sit down an' shut up."

"Thanks," Adam mumbled to Bobby, grinning at Sam and Dean when they glanced at him in concern.

Matt made an odd noise, "I may regret asking this but where is Luke?"

That woke Adam up a little, enough that he glanced over at Michael, and they both looked at Val, who was attempting to appear casual.

"No idea."

"Val," Gabriel warned, "where is he?"

Val sighed heavily, "well he had this glorious idea that we go skinny dipping-" he paused while a few crew members, namely Matt, Ash, Jo and Balthazar, snickered, and Vetis and Crowley looked disgusted, "so I went along with it, until we got to the other spring, and then I just let him take his clothes off and get in," Val couldn't hide his grin now, "at which point I grabbed said clothes and ran off so as far as I know Luke's still naked in that spring."

There was a beat, and then everyone burst out laughing, Adam was fairly certain he was crying with laughter at this point.

"That's my boy!" Crowley clapped him on the shoulder as he shook with laughter, Matt had fallen out of his chair, even Ellen and Vetis had lost it.

It took Gabriel a few tries but he managed to order Val to go get that "god damn idiot, holy shit Val that was great, we will never let him live this down".

Once Val could breathe easily, he stood up, "alright, now don't start dinner without me."

"We won't, and I mean it, you've earned the right to keep us waiting," Gabriel was leaning on Sam for support, "oh damn, I am so glad to have you on my crew."

Adam slowly realized that he was leaning on Michael the same way, but Michael just smiled and pulled him closer.

Dinner was cold by the time Luke stalked back in to a round of applause but the look on his face definitely made it worth it.
