UNENDING: SANDY BEACH

The door to the Holodeck slid open and Sam stepped inside, pausing as she realized that a program was already running. She was standing on a beach of silver sand, green water lapping gently at the edges. Exotic trees swayed gracefully in a warm breeze. Above the water, two crescent moons rose in a deep blue sky. Ah, she thought. P5Y-411; the perfect vacation planet. She remembered programming it into the Holodeck computer at Mitchell's request last week. He had called it Risa, for the pleasure planet on Star Trek.

Two more steps onto the beach and she saw them... stretched out on a blanket in the sand a short distance away. Cam was bending over Caroline, his face buried in her shoulder, and she was wrapped around his body, one leg around his waist, an arm about his shoulders.

Sam stopped and clapped a hand to her mouth to stifle her exclamation of gleeful surprise. Too late. They'd heard her and Cam's head had started to come up.

Sam spun around and put her back to them, giving way to giggles of delight. "Sorry!" She made for the door. Stepping out into the corridor, she hit the controls. As the door slid shut she called, "Hey, guys! There's a lock on this thing, y'know!"

Damn! Sam grinned widely as she headed for her lab. She'd been thinking Mitchell looked happier for the past couple of weeks!
