Side Story #2
Irisviel's eyes cracked open to reveal tired blue eyes. Believe it or not, Illumi was a great deal to handle. Turning around, she found the bed empty. Illumi was a light sleeper and got up early to attend to family business. She felt slightly nauseated, but it was bearable. Her cell phone rang and Iris plopped her hand on the nightstand to retrieve it.
"Hello, Good morning. How may I help?" she answered her phone in a formal like manner.
"Good morning, my daughter," Lady Kikyo greeted. "Are you feeling well?"
Iris knew why Lady Kikyo asked that. She always had an underlying question.
"Yes, I am quite well, thank you," Iris said as sweetly as possible, "I am not pregnant."
"You always seem to know where I'm getting at," Lady Kikyo basically admitted her true intentions.
"Well I am a major in psychology," Irisviel replied.
"Okay, let me know if anything comes up," she sounded so sure of herself.
"I will," Irisviel clicked the phone off and sat on the bed. This action caused a weird feeling to erupt inside of her. She held her stomach and rushed to the bathroom to empty whatever she ate the previous night. After that, she felt horrible. Standing in front of the sink, she looked into the mirror.
"There has to be another logical explanation for why I'm feeling like this," she brushed her hair back with her bare hands, looking like a frustrated wreck.
It was as if Lady Kikyo sensed this. Maybe she had some kind of tracking device in her body. As absurd as it sounded, she wouldn't put it past the Zoldycks to do something like that.
She hacked until there wasn't anything left to throw into the sink. Brushing her teeth and taking a shower. Her mind raced as to what could be another possible answer. She couldn't believe she was pregnant. This means that she would have been about 6 weeks into pregnancy. Shaking her head again, she lay back and continued to ponder. Nausea was caused by the increased hormones in the body. Usually, this would be a good sign, but to Irisviel, it was a panicking situation. What if she developed hyperemisis gravidarum?! What if she dies while giving birth? What If Illumi didn't want a child? He never talked about having one. Her thoughts were filled with 'what if's'. Getting up slowly, she headed to her personal purse. There should be a pregnancy test in there. This mind racking has to stop.
Doing the requirements for taking the test wasn't hard, but the results were harder than two rocks and a diamond ring. The result was positive. Iris slumped on the closed toilet seat and sighed. How in the world could she deal with pregnancy? Someone knocked on her door.
"Coming," her voice cracked as if it was weak and it was.
Opening the door, Iris looked down and into the eyes of Jade, Killua's girl friend.
"Uhh, h-hey Jade," she tried to sound enthusiastic, but Jade caught on quickly.
"What's up with you?" she asked, giving Iris a pointed stare. "You look like you've been hit with a door, a truck and a whale."
"Gee, way to be blunt," Iris sweat dropped.
"You're welcome," she let herself in and found the couch. "So aren't you going to tell me what's up with your face?"
"Nothing," Iris waved her off.
"Stop lying to me," Jade looked Iris dead in the eye. "Are you pregnant?"
Iris stopped breathing for a couple of seconds. "What a-are y-you saying?"
"This hotel room smells like vomit," Jade pointed out. "I'm quite sorry for the poor chap who has to clean this room up."
Iris sighed. There was no getting around it.
"This means I win, huh," Jade said. "Does your creepy husband know?"
"He isn't creepy and no, he doesn't," Iris replied, sitting next to Jade.
"Are you going to keep it if he doesn't want it?" she then asked
"Of course I am," Iris didn't hesitate to answer. "As a biologist, I believe that everyone has a right to life; embryo, fetus, or even a placenta."
"Geez, I just asked you a simple question," Jade held up her hands.
Iris stood her ground and even if Illumi didn't want it, she would stand her ground faithfully all the while. She wasn't religious, but killing babies was wrong in her sight.
"Are you going to go to the doctor?" Jade asked.
"No," Iris answered, her gaze cast elsewhere.
There was short period of silence.
"How are things with you and Killua?" she asked Jade, who was scrolling through a list of songs on her IPod.
"I really don't know at this point," Jade answered, her attention still on her device.
"I hope your relationship is clean," Iris smirked.
"W-what do you mean?" Jade looked up, stammering.
"You know what I mean," Iris maintained her smirk, "I hope you guys aren't doing S&M stuff."
Jade blushed deeply before burying her head abruptly in her IPod again.
Iris laughed at the flustered girl. What didn't occur to her was why Jade came in the first place.
"Why'd you come anyway?" she then asked the blushing girl.
"Because I need advice on how to win this stupid game; and Killua's parents are…" she paused and solemnly looked into her lap. "His parents are getting him engaged to some snooty rich assassin girl. They said something about it being good for their family line and that Killua needed to be married to someone substantial."
As Iris heard this news, anger swelled inside her chest. She honestly thought they were over that shit. Illumi most likely had a hand in this.
"I'll speak to Illumi about it," Iris was surprised at how calmly she answered.
"I don't want you to cause any trouble," Jade quietly said.
"I won't be causing any trouble," Iris assured Jade, 'I can't really give you advice at the moment for handling a situation like that but-
"Advice?" Jade interrupted.
"yeah," Iris responded.
"I didn't really come here for advice," she shrugged, "I came here for you to encourage me and being near you encourages me."
"W-well t-thanks," Iris choked out the words.
"Anytime," Jade got up and headed for the door. "Anyway, Killua's going to be meeting his fiancé candidate and he wants me to come along."
"Are you sure that's a good idea?" Iris asked. There wasn't any easy way of telling Jade this but in her opinion, Killua is trying to friend zone her.
"Nope," Jade answered.
"Then why go?" Iris questioned.
"Because I believe it will be interesting," Jade smiled but Iris knew it pained her as much as it was paining Killua. It was obvious they loved each other, but it was up to either one to admit first.
"Please don't initiate any fighting," Iris advised. "Remember they are a family of assassins too."
"I'll try," Jade replied while walking away.
Iris shook her head and closed the door. The rest of her afternoon was spent nibbling small bites of soda biscuits and watching television while hugging a pillow.
Iris lay in bed and waited for Illumi to come back to the hotel. Her face was turned to the window where she knew Illumi would come through.
"Yo," he said while gracefully hopping in.
Iris slowly sat up and looked at him.
"What's wrong?" he asked, walking closer to the king sized bed.
"I'm pregnant, but that's beside the point," she rattled off, "Do you have anything to do with Killua's engagement?" Iris totally disregarded the fact that she was pregnant and usually, for most women, it would be an emotional time for them, whether sad or joyous.
Illumi looked at his wife. She sat uncomfortably and hugged a pillow to her chest. Her red hair fell into her face and made her look like a beautiful warrior princess.
"Did you?" she noticed he was staring at her so she asked him again.
"For the good of the family, yes. I did have a part to play in Killua's engagement," he answered, unfazed by the dirty look she gave him. She threw a pillow at his face and he dodged. This made her even more furious. Taking the other pillow, which was his by the way, she threw it at him. This time, he didn't dodge it. He knew the tendencies of pregnant women far too well. When his mother was pregnant with Killua, she would go through mood swing after mood swing.
"You knew Jade liked Killua," she gritted her teeth, looking for more things to throw, "Anyone with eyes could see the obvious spark between them, but you went ahead and ruined their happiness."
"I exist for the good of my family," he answered.
"So you don't think Jade is good enough to be a part of the family?" Iris questioned.
Illumi didn't respond.
"Well then obviously I'm not good enough either," she quietly said and got up to take a bath.
Illumi waited until she was came out, but instead of going back to bed, she headed for small kitchenette the room provided. In the fridge, she found the watermelons she had ordered to be brought up to the room. She stalked back into the bedroom area nibbling on the fruit. She knew that watermelons helped with the nausea. She bent down to remove her slippers. She then felt the heat of Illumi's body radiating behind her.
"Illumi please don't-
She was cut off by his lips on hers. She didn't move into action at first but fell into rhythm when his lips began to move. His hands found her waist and instinctively, her hands snaked around his neck, drawing their bodies closer. She didn't allow herself to think at that moment. Her breath probably smelled of and tasted like watermelons and mint. His tasted of nothing in particular. Falling backwards, she landed on the bed. Illumi's hands then moved to her butt, caressing every inch. She didn't know if Illumi wanted a child and she never asked that night. She lost herself in the moment and fell asleep in his arms. She resolved to continue her one sided argument before he got the chance to sneak out.
HAHAHAHA! I ruined the fluff moment. I understand that I have younger viewers, I myself being quite young. Don't ask me my age. If you want to know, PM me. Anyway, I want to thank all the people who reviewed , followed, and favorited.
