Scaling Down the Fun!

Part 25. Uncle's Favorite Song..
As soon as the Dragon Dream touched down at the closest hospital.
The Marine unit rushed the unconscious Simon to the medical wing.
Now clear fluid was dripping from his nose.
Alvin says,"Hang in there bro.." as he and the others rode on Dave's shoulders.
Brittany feeling a little cold; hugged Alvin for warmth.
He gave out a sudden unexpected ,"Ouch!"
This did not go unnoticed. "Are you hurt Alvin?",asked Dave.
"Mr. Boyarski tried to crush Alvin in his hand.", said Brittany.
The team doctor then said, " We'll have to examine you too little fella."
Alvin now found himself heading to the x ray department.
Elsewhere in the medical wing..
An MRI was used to examine Simon.
"He was lucky to have had his vest on. No internal injuries to the body are visible.", said one doctor.
Another doctor said,"He wasn't lucky here! He has a hairline fracture of the skull.
Fluid is collecting. It's an Intracranial Hematoma..
We need to operate immediately to remove the pressure."
After visiting the X-Ray wing..
Alvin was having a cast wrapped around his ribs.
Mr. Boyarski had broken a couple of them.
" This wrap is to insure that no further injury can happen.." said the doctor.
Alvin asked nervously, "How can I wash myself and other things...",as he lay on a pillow and unable to move.
The doctor replied,"You have a very special nurse, who agreed to see to all your needs."
His task finished. The doctor then left the room.
A little latter a pretty woman rolled in with a food cart.
Alvin asked,"Are you my nurse?"
The lady smiled and said," No.. I'm the dietitian and I am going over your menu with your nurse now."
Alvin was puzzled. He looked around and saw nobody else.
Then the menu, which was upright on the cart, came down and there she was..
Brittany dressed in a long white cape and nurse's cap.
She would be his angel of mercy..
"May we come in?", asked Dave; who happened to be carrying the rest of the family with him.
Jeanette, Eleanor, and Theodore hopped on to the bed.
"Are you alright Alvin?.." asked Theodore.
"Just two broken ribs..", replied his big brother.
Then there was a knock at the door.
It opened and Uncle Adam walked in. His face looked sad.
He looked at his family and said," The doctors found swelling on Simon's brain.
They are now operating on him."
Jeanette took the news hard. She felt helpless and started to cry.
Her sisters along with Theodore embraced her in a comforting hug.
Brittany then said," Have hope. Simon will come back to you.."
From his pillow.. Alvin prayed for his brother to recover..
Uncle Adam turned to Dave and said, "You and your kids should rest. I have sent for a cot .
So you can camp out with the others in here."
Hours latter...
The family was asleep when Simon was rolled in on a baby cart.
His head had a strip of wrapped cloth to cover where the incision was made to release the pressure.
Uncle Adam had come along with the nurse and Simon.
He walked over to the cot where Dave slept and nudged him.
Dave was about to speak; but his uncle placed his finger to his lips.
Indicating that he didn't wish to wake the others.
" The doctor who treated Simon says it was a flawless operation.
The pressure has been relieved. He should come out of unconsciousness soon.",whispered Uncle Adam.
Dave got up and looked at Simon.. His brave little hero looked peaceful.
Then he hears a low mournful voice crying out,"Simon.. Please come back to me..."
Jeanette was repeating it in her sleep.
Uncle Adam looked at Dave and smiled.
He then gently picked up the sleeping Chipette, placed her upon Simon's chest
and said,"There little one.. He's come back to you.."
Then the two human Sevilles left for A meal at the cafeteria.
In Simon's Mind..
Darkness... Quiet stillness... Then there's a hissing sound.
A blurred image. Then POP!
Ears become aware of sobbing voice calling out,"Simon... Please come back to me..."
Heavy eyelids open..
Simon sees a blurred but beautiful face resting on his chest.
He reaches with his left paw and strokes her hair. He then caresses Jeanette's cheek with his right paw and tickles her lips.
This gentle stimulation awakens her. She feels her chin being lifted up.
Her heart starts to race as she sees Simon smiling at her.
Instinctively she moves closer and kisses him.
As she nuzzled her face into his fury chest, she hears Simon say," I'm back Jeanette and I'll never leave you.."
2 Days latter...
A news anchorman says,"The news that The Chipmunks are alive are confirmed ..
In the case of life being stranger than fiction. The music group was singled out for assassination
by the corporate head of a genetic research group.
Thomas Lozier of Diversitech Industries was collaborating with foreign interest;
to wipe out all singing and talking rodent groups in North America.
This also included kidnapping of The Chipettes; so they could be used for breeding purposes.
Because of his actions Mr. Lozier was removed as head of Diversitech Industries.
He faces several federal charges for his crimes. This will result in a lengthy prison sentence.
As for Diversitech Industries... Operations will still continue under the new owners at Crashcup Industries."
A paw comes down on the remote control and the television goes off..
"Aw w! It was getting good!..",cried Alvin.
"We've heard just about enough of about our would be killer..", said Simon as he held Jeanette closely by his side.
Brittany enters the living room with a clean red hoodie.
She then hops on the couch next to Alvin.
"What's this? An undressed chipmunk?", she said as she came closer.
"Please Brittany.. You know I'm in a cast.."protested Alvin as she placed the hoodie on him.
Simon snickered.. Jeanette chuckled.
Alvin's hoodie gave him the appearance of an overstuffed chipmunk.
Theodore had just come back from the kitchen with Eleanor.
He looked at his elder Brother and said,'Whoa! Alvin.. Compared to you.. I'm a swimsuit model.. "
"I can't wait until next month!.. Then this itchy cast can come off!", grumbled Alvin.
Dave entered the room and said, "Everyone in to the car. We have to make a special visit to the vet."
45 minutes latter...
Dave, Miss Miller,The Chipmunks and Chipettes are waiting outside the veterinary clinic.
They smile and cheer as Brutus is walked out by his owners.
He was sporting some bandages, but was his happy barking self again.
He lowered his head and let the Chipettes hug and kiss his snout.
"Is my big hero feeling better?...", said Eleanor as she rubbed him behind the ear.
Mr. Formidolosi smiled along with Sasha, who said," Uncle Adam paid for our veterinary cost.
Plus for helping in the rescue; he placed us in charge of a Traveling Zoo.
We get to visit schools that have no money for field trips. Papa will be Entertaining school kids with our variety of exotic animals."
"Well that should keep my old friend out of trouble..", said Uncle Adam as he left the clinic.
He turned to Dave,hugged him and said, "It's time for uncle to get back to business."
The Chipmunks and Chipettes cried out,"Aww! Do you have to go.. We wanted to thank you for all you have done."
Uncle Adam smiled and said,"Kids.. I have other nieces and nephews, who have yet to meet me. I can't disappoint them. Just give uncle a big hug."
The elder Seville was instantly swarmed by the chipmunks and their girlfriends.. They all gave him the most fuzzy and ticklish hug around his neck. For a moment it looked as if he had a beard. Uncle Adam had to laugh.
He then looked at Alvin and said, "If you want to thank me.
Play a cover of my favorite song. Just ask Dave for it."
Then he waved goodbye as he left in his limousine.
Two months latter at a television event...
Alvin and the others approach the microphone and say,"Uncle Adam.
This is song is for you!"
Electric guitars strum a classic rift as the group sings,
"There's a man who leads a life of danger..
to everyone he meets, he stays a stranger..
with every move he makes..
Another chance he takes..
Odds are he won't live to see tomorrow...

Well this is the end... I hope you enjoyed my series of Chipmunk stories.
I decided that this would be my last tale for now.
