Chapter 24

After this morning's turn of events with the brunette's father, the newly married couple decided it would be best to face the music and head over to Emma's parents before Ruby ends up telling the whole town and they find out from a third party.

Making her way inside the house, Emma instinctively grabs hold of Regina's hand protectively while the brunette runs her thumb along the blonde's knuckles reassuringly. "Mom? Dad?"

Sat in the kitchen having lunch, Mary Margaret frowns hearing her daughter call out. "Emma?"

Following her mother's voice, the blonde heads in the direction of the kitchen spotting the trio sat at the table. Lucy grins on view of the couple and waves over at them.

Emma smiles slightly and waves back before taking a deep breath which does not go unnoticed by her father.

Looking in concern, David questions. "Emma is everything okay?"

"Depends on what you mean by okay?" Giving a nervous chuckle, she glances across at Regina who gives her an encouraging nod. "Okay see the thing is.."

Quickly cutting in, worried by the older couples reaction to their news while the smaller brunette is sat swinging her legs at the table, Regina looks to the girl. "Lucy why don't you head upstairs for a moment so we can talk to Mary Margaret and David? We will come up after as we have something to tell you"

Lucy bites her lip shoving the last of her bread in her mouth then looks to Mary Margaret who nods even more concerned about her daughter and girlfriend's behaviour. Hopping down, the girl heads off towards the stairs before slamming her door shut to give signal that she is gone.

Emma looks between her parents and decides the best way to tell them would be like ripping of a band aid, in other words quick. "I asked Regina to marry me last night and she said yes..but we kinda also got married last night too"

Both parents look speechless, David in shock and Mary Margaret looking like she is about to cry. Gulping hard, the blonde looks nervous.

"Say something..please..we didn't.."

"Stop talking..."

Emma looks at her mother with wide eyes from the demand as the short haired woman rises from her seat, placing a hand on her bump as she does. "I can't believe you did this..the one thing I was holding on to..was knowing that despite missing out on the majority of events, important events in your life..I would have your wedding..to see your father walk you down the aisle. Now..that's gone"

Blinking back her own tears, the blonde grips Regina's hand more needing her comfort. "I..didn't ask you to not be there..in my life..that was your choice..and as for last night it was never planned it wasn't our intention to hurt you..we just seized the moment because we love each other and want to be committed..if we had a wedding like you're talking about, we wouldn't be able to afford it...not now anyway. I want to say I'm sorry but truth is, I'm not because I got to marry the one that I love and care for and I intend on doing so for the rest of my life"

Mary Margaret looks between them. "I understand you're older now Emma but I really don't want to be shut out of your life and I know I have no right asking that of you for what I did in the past but I am your mother..I always will be. I want to be there..no matter what it is..I'm not mad..I just..I'm surprised and.." sighing the woman waves her hand dismissively. "I'll get over it"

Emma nods as she turns to her father who is still sat at the table. "Dad?"

David looks back at her and then stands, walking over to hug her. The blonde's eyes widen again in shock before letting go of Regina's hand to hug back. "We love you is what your mother is trying to say and congratulations"

Regina smiles watching the pair then glances over to the short haired woman warily especially when the woman approaches her. "Mary Margaret..I.."

Mary Margaret gives a small smile and wraps her arms around the brunette. "I am glad that my daughter decided against my advise three years ago and continued to see you despite my behaviour. You make her happy and that is all I can ask for"

The brunette smiles back a little embarrassed while hugging then looks across to Emma who holds her hand out to her again.

"We have a small person upstairs that still needs to know"

Mary Margaret sniggers while David turns back to the table. "I'll get the earplugs.."

Both the blonde and brunette laugh knowing exactly what the short haired woman expects from Lucy's reaction then head up to the girl's room both dropping themselves down on the bed, on either side of the small brunette who is sat cross legged in the middle. Looking side to side the girl giggles. "What do you want to tell me?"

Stroking some of the girl's hair behind her ear, Regina looks to Emma to explain. The blonde looks down at the smaller brunette with a smile. "Well Lucy Lou..remember before when you asked if Regina and me were going to get married?"

Lucy nods between them while leaning back slightly against the fellow brunette who plays with her hair, starting to braid it.

"Well we wanted to..if anything Luc you were the one who got me thinking it and so I asked Regina and last night we went to the town hall and got married"

Lucy gasps and looks to Regina to confirm it gaining a smile and nod. "But..but what about the pretty dresses?!"

Finishing the braid, the brunette tilts her head round to face the girl. "Pumpkin we didn't have time to get them..I wore the one you helped me buy for the date.."

Pouting, Lucy looks down. "I wanted to wear a pretty dress..too.."

Emma takes hold of her hands with a sad smile. "You still can because I was thinking just because we rushed that part doesn't mean we can't follow the rest of it and have a party? We will even take you shopping for a dress okay?"

Lucy grins at the mention of a party and throws her arms around the pair giving a squeal. "We gona have the best party!"

Once Regina had finally spoken to her mother after Henry had informed his partner what their daughter had been up to, the brunette helped her wife plan a party as Cora gave them their blessing knowing deep down they would eventually.

Deciding to use the mansion for space, the young couple had spent a gruelling day of shopping for the perfect dress for Lucy, the girl had eventually settled on a red and black dress with black velvet short sleeves and a red floaty bottom filled with roses. Now the place had been decorated and catered for as the guests began to arrive. The guests mainly being their friends and family with the addition of Granny who left her diner in the safe hands of a friend.

Walking up to her daughter, Cora places her hands on the young woman's shoulder to get her attention. "You settled for the blue dress dear? I thought you liked the burgundy?"

Regina glances over her shoulder from her position at the food table and gives a small smile. "I did but..this one was more...comfortable"

The older brunette raises an eyebrow not buying it. "Regina?"

Sighing, Regina goes to move herself away but is prevented by her mother holding her hand. "It's nothing.."

Cora just watches her daughter while not letting go of her hand then softens her look having put the pieces together. "It's because the turquoise one was low cut wasn't it?"

Looking away, the brunette feels her eyes getting watery. "Mother..."

Taking a breath, the woman checks the room before enticing her daughter into the kitchen. "Regina look at me?"

Slowly meeting her mother's gaze, Regina bites her lip. "I..just can't..see...look..at... I don't want people staring and I don't want Emma to look at me in..disgust"

Cora strokes the side of her daughter's face, noticing a single tear threatening to fall. "You have nothing to hide and Emma loves you, otherwise she wouldn't have married you. Does she know you feel this way?"

Regina nods slowly feeling guilty. "She does and she told me that I was still beautiful but..I'm scared to look myself..I catch a glimpse sometimes when I change and it turns my stomach..so..I haven't allowed Emma to see..I mean we haven't, been..close since before.."

Cora pulls her into a hug and rubs a hand along her back. "As I said she loves you..talk to her, show her so then I can at least stop having a conversation regarding my daughter's sex life"

"Mother!" Regina goes red as she pulls back from the hug. Cora smirks then chuckles at having made her daughter embarrassed.

"Now go on, this party wont entertain itself"

Kissing her mother's cheek who smiles in return, the brunette makes her way to the living area to see Emma in conversation with Granny and Lucy holding out her skirt to Ruby, showing off her dress with a grin. Walking over, she wraps an arm around the blonde's lower back and smiles, joining in to the conversation.

A/N: poor Regina :( that part was a little personal for me so it helped with the input. I might do a time jump soon as well if you guys are up for it...or I can end this one and do a sequel in the future?
