Life during a war

Chapter 25: Trials

We have been in the Bureau for two weeks now and I can't stand it, I am twenty three weeks pregnant. Today is the day of Caleb's, and Marcus', trial. Tobias and I are going to the camera room to watch. Though we don't like them we want to know their fate.

David gave me my mum's journal thing that has all of the letters she wrote to him. I found out that she came from some other experiment before going to the fringe and then she was brought here, then she volunteered to go to Chicago. She was put into Dauntless because she had a tattoo. Then she moved to Abnegation with my father. They really were in love.

Tobias and I are walking down to the camera room right now, hand in hand, my other hand rests on my bump, which has gotten bigger since we arrived at the Bureau. I am also getting more food meaning the baby is healthier, I haven't been getting as many cramps.

When we arrive at the room we sit in two of the spare chairs that are facing the screen which will show the trials. Still holding hands.

Caleb's trial is first, Tobias squeezes my hand in reassurance and I squeeze it back.

Evelyn and two of her factionless buddies are sitting behind a table watching Caleb as he is injected with truth serum by some other factionless man.

"So, what is your full name?" Evelyn asks.

"Caleb James Prior." He says.

"How old are you?" She asks.

"Seventeen." He answers.

"What were your crimes?" She questions.

"I wouldn't call what I did crimes." He says.

"Fine, I'll list them out to you. Working with Jeanine Matthew's. Testing and nearly killing a Divergent…" She says, grimacing at the last bit. "and not fighting with us."

"Those aren't that bad. Also, who would want to fight with you? Not even your own son." He says, earning himself a slap by the one who injected him.

"Shut up! What made you want to test and kill your own sister, whilst she was pregnant? Which is also a crime, testing and almost killing a pregnant woman." She says.

"Because she is the strongest Divergent that we know of, meaning if we can get a serum that works on her then it would work on every other Divergent. But she was rescued before we could find one to work on her. Also, I really don't like your son, or the fact that he knocked her up at the age of sixteen. So I thought, why not kill her, meaning the baby will die, meaning your son would break and hopefully kill himself." Caleb says. "Though originally I did want Tobias to be the one we test on. Jeanine was adamant that it had to be Tris so I agreed. She was very persuasive."

This earns him another slap.

"I do not like her or that baby either, but if she was my sister I wouldn't do that to her. Also, I don't want to hurt my son, and unfortunately, that is going to hurt him. Anyway, what did Jeanine do to make you agree to working with her?" Evelyn says.

"She is just a very persuasive Erudite. Also, she promised me a job alongside her if I agreed to it and I couldn't turn it down." He says.

"Fine. Just wait there and let us decide what to do with you." Evelyn says before leaving the room with her two buddies.

I am crying, my brother did that to me for a job in the government. He did it because he didn't like Tobias or the baby.

I hate him.

I hate him.

I hate him.

Evelyn and her chums come back into the room and sit in their seats.

"Caleb Prior, I am sentencing you to spend the rest of your life outside of the fence. You aren't allowed back inside the City ever." Evelyn says.

"Great, when do I leave?" He asks.

"Tonight." Evelyn says. "You can go now, go pack whatever you have in your cell because that is all you're allowed to take with you."

The man who injected Caleb unties him from the chair and the traitor is led back to his cell.

Marcus is led in five minutes later and tied to the chair. The man who led him in injects him with truth serum.

"Hello wifey, nice to see you again." Marcus snarls.

"What is your name?" Evelyn asks, ignoring him.

"You know my name."

"Tell me it, you have to. Also, I forgot your middle one." She says.

"Marcus Tomas Eaton."

"What are your crimes?"

"I haven't committed any crimes."

"I guess you want me to read yours out as well. Okay. The abuse of your son, wife and a pregnant woman…" again she grimaces. "Working with Jeanine Matthews, and not fighting with us."

"Wow, those are great crimes, I am awesome. Though, our son, and his pregnant bitch, didn't fight with you either, does that mean he's a criminal as well." He says.

"Shut up. Now, please, tell me, why did you work with Jeanine?"

"Because I didn't want to work with you. Also, I wanted to abuse Tris Prior, hoping that she would lose our son's child, but that didn't work. Anyway, Jeanine also offered me sex for working with her. I couldn't refuse a body as beautiful as hers."

"You're worthless, you know that, right?"

"Nope."

"Though, I'm sad your plan didn't work."

"What plan?"

"The one to kill Tris' and Tobias' baby."

"Oh, that one, I am too."

"Anyway, we're going to go outside and talk about what we're going to do with you." Evelyn says, yet again, leading her friends out of the room.

They want to kill our baby.

I am crying even more now.

They enter the room again and sit in their seats.

"Marcus Eaton, we are sentencing you to spend the rest of your life outside the fence, you can't come back in the city at all. You leave tonight along with Caleb Prior and you shall now go back to your cell and pack whatever is in there as those are the only things you're allowed to take with you."

"Thank you, wifey. Is Tobias out there, I'm hoping to see him again?"

"Yeah, so is Tris and all of their friends. Go make their lives hell, I mean, you won't be in my city anymore so it doesn't matter what you do."

I can't watch this anymore.

I leave the room, tears pouring down my face. I can't breathe properly. They're coming. Caleb and Marcus are coming. They're going to kill me, the baby, Tobias, our friends.

No. No. No. No. No.

"Tris!" Tobias yells.

I feel faint. I turn and see Tobias running towards me. That is the last thing I see before my world turns black.

Hey Ravens.

So, the Insurgent official trailer comes out in 6 days. I'm so excited.

But now I am going to rant.

I just wanted to say that I don't honestly get why people don't like the Insurgent teaser trailer, or Shai's hair.

First I am going to start with the hair. We all know that she had to cut it for TFIOS, it looks great and I have no idea why people are having a go at her about it. There is nothing wrong with her hair. Also, if you read the book you should know that Tris cuts her hair in the second book anyway, sure her hair may be a little longer than the way Shai has it, but does it really matter? Also, wigs do look slightly tacky when doing an action movie, just my opinion, and they are very itchy, imagine wearing a wig for god knows how many hours a day whilst filming, I don't know how JLaw did it. Also, Shai is a human being, she can have her hair however she wants to have her hair, it she wants it like that, deal with it, it's part of her human rights. She did dye it blonde to play Tris as well, so it isn't exactly the same as it was when she played Hazel.

Now onto the trailer. It is obviously one of her fear landscapes from when she is in Erudite being tested on. And sure, they changed it from the way it is in the book but they can't make everything exactly the same, the book has been copyrighted. Also, they have to appeal to people that have read the book and the people who haven't read the book. I think it looks awesome and I don't understand why others don't. Just because you don't remember it being like that it the book doesn't give you a reason to not like it. They have to change things, they can't put everything in there, they can't use every piece of dialogue, or every event that happens in the book in the movie. They have to make their own interpretation of it. Also, if you haven't noticed, Veronica Roth works with them, she was on the set a lot meaning she has to have liked what they did, it's her novel, and they wouldn't have done something in the movie unless she liked it because she wrote it and she knows how she wants the movie to be, for the fans. Meaning, if you liked the books you should like the movie.

So everyone, please stop complaining, they work hard putting this movie together for our enjoyment and I know not everyone is going to like it, but there is no reason to complain about Shai's hair, or something that is obviously in the book but is told in a different way in the movie. They all work so hard trying to put together a good movie, a movie that people are going to enjoy and people don't seem to be giving them any credit. They work long hard days for us, so please, think about them as people and not as they way they interpreted the book. I'm sure the movie will be great and they'll still keep some things from the book but they can't use everything.

Sorry for the rant but it annoys me when people complain about these things. Shai is only human, we all have our hair the way we want it, so why can't she? They all work so, so hard for us, throughout long hours of the day to make a movie we like and will go and see. So please think about these things and appreciate what they do for us.

Sorry again. I will update as soon as I can.

Please review!
