Chapter twenty five – Decision

I was mad, for many reasons, Jacob being one of them. Once we got to La Push, the wolves held a meeting and all of them sounded excited. Then, Jacob who was ecstatic, no euphoric, as I may describe - was all over the place. You would think that he's never been this excited before. Ever.

And because he got so excited, we ended up doing it three times. Yes, all in a span of few hours. If that was not bad enough, we did it in his car – the fourth time.

The incriminating evidence was my gait. I had to drag my feet on the ground, and Jake had to carry me up the hill, which immensely pleasured him. So he spent a good fifteen minutes teasing me under my skirt, and touching my ass cheeks. "Baby, I'm going to eat you tonight," he growled in my ear. I gulped. "Jake, we did it on your bed, your wall and your bathroom. The third time, you took me from behind. Now your car smells like sex." I argued. "How you managed to remember to use protection is still a mystery to me." He chuckled.

"We haven't done in a while baby. And this time, I plan to take your mouth." he stated, and I was turned on already. "Where are we going again?" I asked. "You'll see," he said, and he continued stroking his fingers my legs. We reached the top of the hill, and I could see the starry firmament above me.

Jake laid me on the grass and landed next to me. "Jake, I can't afford to be barefooted and pregnant, I'm going to start college. At this rate, we'll end up being parents, whilst we're teenagers." I stated. He snorted. "Baby, when I impregnate you, trust me, you'll know that you've been impregnated," he gloated. It was my turn to snort. "As much of a romantic as you are, I doubt Charlie and Billy will be on board," I mentioned.

"Oh they will be, soon enough," he said, confidently.

What does he mean? Did he already talk to our fathers?

"How many kids do you want?" I asked, dismissing my previous thought. "Four," he replied. "What? That's too many!" I exclaimed. "One's enough, or maybe two,"

He chuckled. "We'll see. Until then, we have plenty of time to practise," he stated, leaning over to kiss me. "Do you have to go to the fight?" I asked him. "Don't start nagging," he warned. "I'm concerned." I debated. "There's no point in talking about it. I'm going, it's final," he proclaimed. "No, you just want to be the tough guy. You hate vampires, and that's why you want to enjoy killing them, because you can't kill the ones you want," I stated.

He nodded. "Yes, that's true. Wolves were created to kill vampires, I'm doing my duty," he said, adamantly. "I can't kill the mind reader and his family, as much as I want to." he mentioned. "Once this new born war is over, Sam wants to discuss their relocation. But knowing Cullen, I doubt that he'll want to move. I'm sure that he wants to talk it out, and try to get you back," he mentioned, bitterly. "I have to talk to him. Why don't I just end this right now?" I decided. "Usually, I would've said: "Over my dead body". But I want you to break it off with him. Well, whatever kind of relationship you have with him that is." he conceded.

That's why I found myself in front of the Cullen house. I sat next to Edward on the front porch. "Where's everyone?" I enquired. "Hunting. Rosalie and Emmett are in Seattle, sniffing for information." he replied. "How do they do it?" I asked him. "How do Rosalie and Emmett, Alice and Jasper and your parents manage to stay in love for decades?"

"Well, vampire emotions are constant. Feelings don't change that easily," he replied. "Usually, vampires mate for life. It's not as fickle as human feelings," I snorted. "Then why'd you dump me?" I asked. "I left you because I felt it was unsafe to be with you. I didn't dump you because I didn't love you anymore," he replied. "But you still broke my heart. Human beings maybe fickle, but they have the ability to feel as deeply as any vampire," I argued.

"I know. But you and I are different. I didn't want to turn you, and you were fragile. What Jasper did, it was unforgivable. Because you liked me, you would forgive Jasper and move on. But he could've done it again. That day, it was Jasper, the next day, it would be Alice. Not all of my family members have excellent self-control. Carlisle, Rosalie and I have the most self-control, and exactly in that order. Sometimes even Esme slips. So how could I let that happen?" he countered.

"Then why didn't you just change me?" I asked. "I can't do that. You would be like Jasper. God knows how long it will take you to control yourself. Not to mention, a human life is the best life you can have. Do you know that boredom can kill you as well? I've lived for over a century. I've studied too many subjects, in too many colleges. Out of sheer boredom. That's not a life for you. As much as I would hate to admit it, the mutt can give you a happy life," he answered, sighing.

"But knowing that he's a wolf, it horrified me. I should've never left. I can't believe that I left you in the care of wolves. And now, you're the Alpha's Imprint. Things just seem to be getting worse." he continued. "If you had stayed, I still would've been Jacob's imprintee, and you'd have to be around him forever." I countered. "Yes, that would be even more dreadful." he agreed. "So, aren't you glad that things aren't as complicated?" I offered.

"I wouldn't be too sure about that," he mumbled. "He's volatile Bella. More volatile than a vampire," he claimed. "The only thing more dangerous than a vampire, is a werewolf with no self-control. I didn't leave you to protect you, to have you run into the arms of something more dangerous. I've seen what Sam did to his imprint. It still kills him. What happened with Jasper can happen with any of the wolves. Jacob maybe in control, but what about the rest?"

"I'm never around when they phase, and plus, I can look after myself. Jacob will be there as well. I'm not worried about that. I'm sorry Edward, I love Jacob now. Nothing can come between us. Not even you," I resumed. "We can't go back to dating anymore. Things will never be the same," He nodded. "I figured that once I came back. I felt something different about your presence when I saw you again after my return," he mentioned.

"You really love Jacob, don't you?" he asked. "I do. I loved him the first moment I saw him, after your departure. His long hair was falling over his shoulders, with his goofy smile, standing under the white sky. I visited him because I wanted him to fix my bike. I was already in love with him. But I was too hung up on you to even notice." I answered, reminiscing. Edward stared at the ground.

"Bella, I have to tell you something. It's a vital piece of information. I want to listen carefully," he stated.
