Chapter 25

..

..

..

..

.

"Clear!"

The pads connected with Santana's chest, and as the jolt of electricity ran through her body it twitched forward.

"Charge to 300," The paramedic said as he was getting the pad ready, "Clear!"

Once more the pads connected with Santana's chest and the jolt of electricity ran through her once more.

Beep.

Beep.

"We have a pulse!" The paramedic called.

The paramedic set the pads down, and immediately attended to Santana's wounds. She lay in the gurney with an oxygen mask on. There was a large slash on her forehead, not to mention all the bruises that were already forming. The paramedic seemed to get the bleeding under control, and quickly taped the gaws temporally to her wound.

The Paramedic looked back at his partner, who was driving.

"I stop the bleeding from the slash on her forehead and it's possible that she might have a slight concussion. She had a cardiac arrest but I manage to bring her back, she hasn't gone into another so step on it!"

He stopped talking and looked down when he felt movement. Santana moved around lightly and her eyes fluttered open.

"She's conscious!"

Santana looked around her surroundings but recognize nothing. Everything was a big blur, nothing was clear. Not even if her life depended on it would she be able to figure out where she was or what had happen. She began to move a lot more, trying to see where she was. She then tried to remove her oxygen mask but the paramedic stopped her.

"Hey there," He said softly, "You have to keep that there because it's helping you breathe okay,"

Santana looked at him confused but nodded and her hands dropped back down to her side.

"You were in a car accident but we're taking you to the hospital, we're almost there," He soothed.

And that's when she remembered. She lunged forward but he pushed her back lightly trying to hold her down.

"You need to calm down," He said as he was holding her down, "You need to try not to move, you can get more hurt,"

"Quinn," Santana managed to choke out.

"Is that the girl you were with?" The paramedic asked.

Santana nodded.

"She's alive okay," The paramedic said, "They rushed her to the hospital first,"

Santana felt slight relieve but the panic still managed to overcome her. She needed to see Quinn and her baby girl. Even if the paramedic said that they were okay she still and wanted to see them. But all of a sudden Santana began to feel light head, everything was a blur once more, and everything began to spin.

"You've lost a lot of blood," A distance voice could be heard, it was the paramedics.

Santana felt her eyes get heavier and heavier by the second.

"Stay awake! Stay a with me,"

And her eyes felt shut.

..

..

..

..

"Hey…I love you and I know that you would do anything for me and our little bug,"

"I'm happy the way we are right now. You make me happy,"

Santana's snapped opened. Her mind was rushing with memories of Quinn and the baby. Adrenaline ran through her body as her eye sight became clearer.

"You're awake!"

Santana traced the voice and her eyes fell on a tiny brunette who seemed to have been crying. She recognized the girl as Rachel. Santana looked at the people surrounding Rachel, there Blaine, but she was most surprise to see her dad standing by the door. She looked around the room and this when she noticed that she was in a gown on a hospital bed, she had an IV fluid on her and her arms were covered in bruises, she had her right arm in a sling.

What the hell.

"Santana," Blaine said softly as he approached her.

Santana looked at her arms, she felt her head was pounding and as she reached up to hold it but she felt a bandage, which she was pretty sure was wrapped around her head.

"San," Rachel said once more.

Santana's eyes finally met with Rachel's. She still seemed extremely confused.

"I'll go get the doctor," Blaine mumbled and made his way out the room.

"She seems confused," Emilio commented.

"Where's Quinn!?" Santana croaked.

There was silence for a moment, no one said anything, they didn't know how to say it. The two of them look at Santana who still seemed just as confused.

"Where is she!?" Santana asked frantically.

"She's in surgery mija," Emilio finally spoke.

Santana's panic did not go away if anything it grew twice as much as it was.

"Surgery? Why? How long have we been here!?" Santana exclaimed.

Emilio took a deep breathe, "Mija you've been in the hospital for three days,"

"What!? No," Santana shook her head, "Why is Quinn in surgery then!?"

Rachel cleared her throat, "Quinn had a massive hemothorax. She has been in and out of surgery for the past couple of days…The doctors said she has been doing good and hopefully everything will get better,"

Santana felt a pain in chest, had she really been out for these past few days while Quinn was in surgery. She couldn't help but feel guilt, if only she had kept her eyes on the road.

"What about the baby!?" Santana asked, her voice couldn't help but crack. She could feel her eyes stinging with tears her eyes. Her mind flashed back to the crash, the memories flooded back into her mind.

She could feel her body tense up as she saw the tears in Rachel's eyes begin to surface. She waited for the answer, no matter how hard it was she had to hear it. Rachel seemed to be choking on her words as she tried to compose herself.

"What happen to my baby?" Santana asked one more time, her voice was completely broken.

Rachel cleared her throat and a smiled began to slowly appear on her face, "She's beautiful Santana,"

Santana's heart stopped, had she heard right?

"What? "

"She's so beautiful San. Kurt and your mom are visiting her right now," Rachel explained.

"She sure cries like you mija," Emilio said with a small smile.

"She was born?" Santana asked incredulously.

Rachel nodded, "They had to do a C-section, and they have to monitor her for a couple of days just to make sure everything is working properly,"

"When was she born?" Santana immediately asked.

"January 28," Rachel said as she wiped her tears of joy.

"I have to see her!" Santana exclaimed.

"You will mija but you have the doctor has to see you first," Emilio tried.

"I don't care about the doctor! I want to see my daughter!" Santana exclaimed.

At that moment a man in a white coat and scrubs entered the room with Blaine trailing closely behind.

"Ms. Lopez, glad to see you're awake," The doctor greeted.

"Who are you?" Santana frowned.

"I am Dr. Collins, I am your doctor and surgeon," He explained, "I also participated in one of your fiancé surgeries,"

"Quinn? How many surgeries has she had!?" Santana asked frantically.

"Two," Dr. Collins said.

"Is she okay!? Why did she need surgery!? What happened to her?"

"Well when she came in she had a facture rib, a concussion and internal bleeding. We had to make an immediate C-section and get the baby out before any complications. Once we stopped the internal bleeding we kept her in the ICU for 24 hours to monitor her but she had a massive hemothorax which is being treated now. We are going to keep her in observation and see how everything goes,"

Santana nodded slowly, "What about the baby?"

"She was born 6 lbs. 8 oz. and 18 inches, we had her in the incubator to make sure she was breathing properly but she should be okay by now," Dr. Collin explained, "You on the other hand came in with a slash on your forehead, it was not deep but it caused slight concussion. You also have a broken arm; it seems it was caught between the center console and the car seat. Your heart also stopped at the scene because you went into Cardiac arrest but we also took care of that,"

Santana took a deep breath and let it all sink in.

This was tough shit.

"Can I see them?"

The Doctor seemed to think about it for a second.

"Sure," He said smiling softly, "Let me just run some tests on you to make sure you're okay,"

..

..

"I don't have to sit in the damn wheelchair," Santana protested as Rachel pushed the wheelchair to the Pediatric wing.

"The doctor's orders San," Rachel said.

"My arm is broken not my legs I can walk you know," Santana tried.

"Well good for you but your still sitting in the wheelchair," Rachel said firmly, "Now your dad and Blaine went to go get lunch and your mom and Kurt are waiting for us,"

"Can you hurry it up?" Santana urged, "My baby girl was born days ago and I haven't even seen her!"

Rachel chuckled, "Who would have thought that Santana Lopez would be all settled down,"

"Rachel!"

"You know, no one has held the Quinntana baby yet," Rachel said, "From us anyway,"

"The Quinntana baby?" Santana frowned.

"Well the baby didn't have a name," Rachel explained, "The only thing written in her chart is Fabray-Lopez,"

Santana didn't say anything at this, she and Quinn never agreed on the name.

"Does she look like her?" Santana asked in a whispered.

"Why don't you see for yourself," Rachel smiled.

They had arrived at the pediatric wing. Maribel immediately went to hug her daughter, and shed a few tears. Kurt wasn't far behind, they talked for a few minutes and both of them gushed over how gorgeous the baby was but Santana just wanted them to move over so she could see the baby.

It wasn't until Rachel suggested that they get an update on Quinn that they quickly left.

"You're welcome," Rachel whispered.

Santana chuckled.

Rachel continued to push Santana's wheelchair until they reached one of the nurses and asked for the Fabray-Lopez baby. The nurse asked Santana a few question regarding her paternity to the baby, Santana was getting really impatient though.

And then finally she led them to the nursery, Santana's heart couldn't help but pound as they got closer and closer to her baby. She saw the crib just a few feet ahead of her and she couldn't help but take a deep breath, part of her felt excited and the other part of her felt a pain of guilt and sadness that Quinn wasn't here to share this moment with her.

Her heart stopped when the nurse bent down and picked up the baby girl in the crib.

And then she saw her.

She was breath taking; Santana literally froze. She heard Rachel squeal in the background.

The nurse walked over to Santana and carefully placed her in her arms, being extremely careful with the sling and showing Santana how to hold her.

Santana felt tears form in her eyes. She stared down at her daughter, at her littler bug. Santana watched her as she moved around slightly, waking up from her nap. Her baby girl opened her eyes, and there it was. Santana stared down into her hazel eyes, an exact replica of her Quinn's eyes.

"She has her eyes," Santana whispered trying to hold back her tears.

"She's gorgeous," Rachel gushed, "She has your mouth you know,"

Santana let out a chuckle. "She looks like her," Santana smiled and leaned down pressing a small kiss on her baby's head.

"Do you have the name?" The nurse asked.

"What?" A confused Santana looked up.

"The name for the baby? Your family told us to wait for either you or the birth mother so you could pick the name," The nurse explained.

And at that moment Santana knew exactly what her name would be.

"Charlie. Her name is Charlie," Santana said as she stared down at her baby.

..

..

..

.

Yup that was the reason. The baby is named Charlie.

It was so Santana could pick the name Charlie, otherwise she would have stuck with Emily(:

In the next chapter we will address more of the crash and Quinn will be in it.

So please Review, let me know what you guys think(:
