"Gingka? You listening?" Kuro asked the FBI agent in front of her.

The redhead looked up from where he was fiddling with his phone, "No, I'm not. I'm trying to get in contact with Ryuga- he should be here for the briefing, but he's not."

Kuro frowned, "Is there anywhere he could be? Have you checked his house? Sent someone to look?"

"Even I don't know where he lives, Kuro. The only person that does is out of town on a business trip, and I can't get in contact with him either."

Kuro frowned, "Hold that thought. I know someone who might know something." She was picking up her cell phone, dialing a number.

"Who?" Gingka asked.

"His girlfriend."

"Wait, you know his girlfriend?"

Kuro frowned when Mikaela's phone went to the answering machine. She then tried her cell, and it went to voicemail.

"Odd... Not like her to not pick up." Kuro mused, laying her cell phone back down.

Gingka and Kuro looked at each other.

"My car." Was all Kuro needed to say before the two detectives bolted out of the room.

"Oh, man. Kayla, what have you gotten yourself into now?" Kuro groaned, seeing the trashed office.

"Our case, if this is the psychologist you recommended Lucas to see." Gingka said, walking away a few feet, phone to his ear.

"Her car's still here..." Kuro mused to herself, "Office trashed... Kidnapped. But by who? Ryuga-"

Gingka appeared next to Kuro, "No, because his motorcycle is downstairs in the parking lot, and that's his gun right there."

Gingka was using a pen to pick up a .38 from the floor, "Clip's gone and I'd bet the chamber is empty."

"So he didn't get a chance to use it." Kuro clarified.

"Which is odd, because he's always quick on the draw." Gingka murmured.

"So he was disarmed some way." Kuro said.

"There's no blood, though." Gingka said, glancing around.

"So... chlorophorm?"

"Sweet smell, and I'm not smelling any."

"Then how were they kidnapped..." A spark of realization hit Kuro, "Oh, that explains it."

"What?" Gingka laid the gun back down, looking up at his companion.

"Mikaela was probably ambushed first, and they used her to get Ryuga to stand down. That would explain no blood, why Ryuga didn't fire his gun, and also the absence of a sweet smell."

Gingka nodded and stood, "A good possibilty."

"What, you got a better one?" Kuro asked.

"Davida Gambol was a drug king back in the day. Well, queen would be a better term, considering she's a woman. My dad... he busted the cartel, and supposedly killed her, but when you told me who your main suspect was in the Gambit case... I kinda freaked out a little bit, and didn't tell Ryuga." Gingka explained.

"Where does Ryuga come into this?" Kuro blinked.

"It was his early days as a teen, when he was growing up on the streets. He became involved in the cartel my dad busted, and apparently wanted to get out after a few weeks. Cartel thought he'd rat 'em out, shot him, and left him for dead.

"My dad found him, and with Ryuga's help- even if he was about as stubborn as an ox- they brought the cartel down."

Kuro arched an eyebrow, "I never knew... Ryuto's never said anything like that."

"Because Ryuto was always in the dark." Gingka replied, "Barely ever saw his brother, since he ran around the world stealing things. Ask him, and he'll say he almost took off with the Crown Jewels."

Kuro blinked.

"So... how'd you know Ryuga was with this Mikaela woman?"

"Oh, she's the CIA psychologist and she's one of my undercover agents I send into the field a lot. She's been helping me build a profile for the Gambit case, though if she's been kidnapped, the whole thing's backfired on her."

"Wait... how would Ryuga know her?" Gingka asked.

"He was seeing her for his demons for a while. He hid it from you and your team for a while." Kuro explained, "And after she helped him, they still saw each other until the point they started dating."

"And you're okay with this?" Gingka sounded mortified and angry as one.

"Yes. I've warned Mikaela to not let her or Ryuga's love life get in the way of their jobs. Ryuga's been threatened too."

"But if they've both been kidnapped..."

"That rule just went out the window."

Ryuga snapped awake with a start when someone dumped a bucket of ice cold water on him. Shaking his head to rid the excess water out of his hair, he turned his head to glare up at the culprit.

A man with red, shoulder length hair, and pale green eyes. The man's skin was deathly pale, as though he hadn't seen a bit of sunlight in his life.

The man smirked, "So, you finally grace me with your consious presence."

Ryuga ran his tounge over his dry lips, he narrowed his eyes, "Where's Mikaela?"

"The slut's still out. Haven't bothered with her yet, but I will soon enough." The man smirked, and turned away from Ryuga, to a table half- hidden in the shadows.

As he moved out of Ryuga's line of sight, Ryuga took a moment to assess his situation.

Ryuga was tied to a metal chair that was bolted to the floor. Feeling at his binds, he mentally cursed when he felt handcuffs around his wrists, and his ankles were tied with a coarse rope that cut into his skin everytime he moved. Turning his head to look behind him, he noticed what looked like a generator, and hooked up to the battery, were a set of jumper cables that ran from the generator all the way to the legs of the metal chair that Ryuga was bound in.

A sense of dread filled Ryuga. Whatever reason the generator was connected to his binds, couldn't be good.

"Ryuga, you wanted to know about your girlfriend?" The man suddenly asked, turning Ryuga's attention to him, "Look over here."

Ryuga watched as the man pressed a button on the far wall, and the wall- which was really darkened glass- slowly lit up to clear, revealing Mikaela on the other side, fully awake and looking more than annoyed. Her green eyes when she saw Ryuga.

"Now, I'm only asking once before we begin with the fun," The man put his hands on his hips, "Tell me everything you know about the McKandless and Gambol case."

Ryuga shifted his gaze to the man, amber eyes lighting up in fury. With as much venom as he could muster to put into his words, Ryuga spat, "Go to hell."

The man smiled, "I was hoping that would be your response."

The man then walked behind Ryuga, and the snowy haired man turned his head as well as he could to see what was going on. His eyes widened when the man began fiddling with the generator, and a humming sound reached Ryuga's ears.

Seconds later, a scream of pure agony tore out of Ryuga's throat as volts of electricity arced through his body.
