Sleep Tight

*Candace's Room*

Candace lay sprawled out on her bed, sulking and becoming impatient. She saw Perry arrive and said half-heartedly, "Oh, there you are, Perry."

"You wanted to see me, Candace?" Perry asked.

"I need pet-comfort." Perry nodded in understanding. He climbed on Candace's bed and snuggled up to her, purring. Candace sighed. "I'm having busting-issues."

Perry stopped purring and rolled his eyes. "Oh, boy. Hey, where's Phineas?"

*Doofenshmirtz Building*

"So, what compelled you to ask me for advice?" Heinz asked Phineas, who sat beside him on the couch. Heinz had his arm around the boy's shoulders.

Phineas shrugged. "I'm not sure. One minute, I was thinking of asking Perry for advice, and then a green beam hit me. Next thing you know, I have a sudden urge to talk to you."

Heinz laughed sheepishly. He had a good idea of what happened. "That was probably my fault. You see, I was dusting off my old inators, when I accidentally fired my ask-Doof-inator. It's purpose was to make people think that I was the wisest person in the entire Tri-State Are-" He cleared his throat. "Sorry. The entire Tri-State Area. I-I guess it hit you..."

Phineas smiled. "That's okay. I'm sure you can give advice just as good as Perry can."

"I kind of doubt that," Heinz muttered.

"SIR," Norm called from the storage room. He was dressed like a maid. "WOULD YOU LIKE ME TO FINISH DUSTING YOUR INATORS?"

"Yeah, sure," Heinz called back. "Just be careful not to fire any of them."

"YOU GOT IT." Norm started dusting of the inators, and he accidentally fired it. "OOPSY DAISY."

Heinz raised an eyebrow. "Norm, what was that noise?"

"UH, IT CERTAINLY WAS NOT YOUR SLEEP-INATOR."

A pause, then Heinz called, "Well, good. That's one inator I can rule out."

*Candace's Room*

Candace and Perry were now sitting upright on the bed, Perry holding a notepad and a pencil. He looked up at Candace and said, "Now, during the procedure, you may feel the urge to pet me. Don't. In this case, it would be a little awkward. If you want to someone," he gestured to Ferb, who was standing beside the bed, "pet Ferb. But, do not harm him in any way. It will force me to growl at you, thus undermining the process by reminding you that therapists and secret agents are two completely different things."

Candace took a moment to let all that sink in. "Right..." She glanced at Ferb and started petting his head. Ferb's leg kicked like a dog's in response. "Well, lately I've been trying to bust Phineas's birth-mom for being evil." Perry froze. Candace knew about that? "You can't tell me she's not evil! She is evil!" Unfortunately, Candace was petting too hard now, causing Ferb visible discomfort. Perry noticed this and growled instinctually. Candace stopped petting and stared at the platypus. "Wow. That does undermine the process."

"Told ya," Perry confirmed.

A blue beam came through the window and hit him, making Candace yelp in surprise. The platypus fell asleep on the spot.

Ferb and Candace stared for a moment. Therapy would have to wait. "Wanna go get a slushy dawg?" Candace asked her brother.

"Oh, heavens, no," Ferb answered. "Slushy dawgs never get any better." (The Bully Code)

*Perry's Dream*

Janet was driving Heinz's bugs-me-inator from 'Happy Birthday, Isabella.' The yellow top was open. Perry punched her, and she slid around the top like Heinz did. When she stopped spinning, she was upside-down.

"Does anyone else notice that we're on a bus moving through traffic at high speeds, with no one at the wheel?" Janet asked.

Perry froze. "Uh-oh."

The bugs-me-inator zoomed through the suburbs and right into the Flynn-Fletcher's living room. Phineas and Candace were on the couch together and had jumped into each other arms, upon being startled by the bug-like machine. Janet and Perry tumbled out of it, fighting.

Janet started to strangle Perry in a Courage, the Cowardly Dog reference. "You're not stopping this evil scheme, ya little-"

"Evil scheme?" Phineas peeped.

Janet gasped and dropped Perry. "Ph-Phineas! Th-there's no evil scheme."

Candace was in shock. Phineas squinted in anger. "You just said there was. Plus, you were just strangling my friend!"

"Oh, he's your friend?" Janet laughed sheepishly. "I-I didn't expect that."

*Doofenshmirtz Building*

"So, there's this girl I like," Phineas began, "and we went on a date-"

Heinz interrupted, "Are you referring to that girl with the pink bow? What was her name? Uh," he snapped his fingers in remembrance, "Isabella! Are you referring to Isabella?"

"Y-yes. Yes, I am."

Heinz pumped his fist. "I knew it! I knew she was your girlfriend!"

Phineas frowned. "Well, we only had one date. I thought it went really well," He avoided the doctor's gaze, "but I guess Isabella thought otherwise."

Heinz patted his shoulder. "I know what you're going through, Phineas. I only had one date with your mother-"

"My birth-mother or my adopted-mother?"

"You're adopted?"

"I'll tell you about that, later. You were saying?"

"Uh, right. I only had one date with your mother, and it didn't end well." (What Do It Do?)

Phineas nodded. "Well, what I want to know is how to ask Isabella to give me another chance."

Heinz frowned. "I'll admit I'm not great with women-"

"It's true." Brooke sat down in the chair nearby. "When he asked me out, I swear, he almost threw up."

Heinz narrowed his eyes. "That's not true!" He paused. "After I asked you out, I did throw up!"

*Perry's Dream*

Janet sighed in defeat. "Okay, you caught me. I'm...e-evil."

Phineas gasped, tears filling his eyes. "W-what?" Perry put his hand on Phineas's shoulder in sympathy. Phineas ignored him. "Y-y-you're evil?" He glanced at Perry. "She's evil? And, you were fighting her? I-is she your nemesis, now?" Perry nodded solemnly. "A-and, you never thought to tell me?"

"I didn't have the heart," Perry answered, saddened at Phineas's distraught expression.

Phineas swallowed. "W-what about you, Candace? Did you know- Candace?" Candace's face was frozen in an unreadable expression. She didn't seem to notice her brother's distress.

Perry hopped on to the couch and shook Candace's shoulder. "Uh, Candace? Are you okay?"

Candace suddenly grinned.

-Candace-

I don't believe it.

This feels like a dream.

Janet's been busted

For her evil scheme.

This is just incredible.

The time has come.

She has gone down, you see.

That is good news, to me.

I dropped a dime on Miss A

Now, I finally win.

I'm feeling more than just okay.

She's out from under my skin.

This is cool, this is fine.

I don't need to worry no more!

(don't need to worry no more!)

(Oh, oh.)

Applebottom's busted!

(Oh, oh.)

She's gone down to the ground!

(Oh,oh.)

Applebottom's busted!

Now, I can stop following her around the town.

Perry glared. "Candace Flynn, is now really the best time to sing about that?"

"Why wouldn't it be?" Candace asked.

"Because your brother is utterly heartbroken!"

It was true. Phineas was crying, and Janet was kneeled down to his level, trying to calm him down. "Phineas, I know this isn't what you were expecting-"

"I-it's not just that!" Phineas yelled through his tears. He glared accusingly at Perry. "You never told me about this! At least Candace tried to. It's like you don't trust me not to tell her that you're my pet! It's like you don't trust me, period. Or, possibly exclamation point!"

Perry's heart snapped in two. "It's not like that-"

Phineas put a hand up, silencing the platypus. "I don't wanna here it! You're dead to me, Perry! Dream-Phineas is out!" He flashed to fingers. "Peace!" He ran off-screen and yelled, "Dead to me!"

Perry jolted awake and took in his surroundings. He was still in Candace's room. It had all been a dream. He let out a breath of relief. "Well, that happened. And, I'm referring to both the dream and my sudden nap."

*Doofenshmirtz Building*

"Now, before we get to the advice," Heinz told Phineas, "I think we should talk about why you feel this way about Isabella." Phineas's eye twitched. He'd gotten this talk once from his dad and once from Perry, and he didn't want to get it again. "You see, at your age, boys experience some fascinating changes to their bodies." Phineas hugged himself in distress. "Now, I'll make this simple. Just point to a part of your body, and we'll talk about-"

Phineas screamed and bolted out of the apartment.

Brooke cupped her hand over her mouth to stifle a rising giggle. Heinz glared at her. "Not one word out of you, Brooklyn."

Candace was in the kitchen, opening a can of orange soda, when Perry walked in and said, "Uh, Candace, what happened? Why did I fall asleep?"

Candace shrugged. "Beats me. All I know is you got hit by a blue beam of some sort, and, suddenly, you're napping on my bed."

Perry scratched his head in thought. "A blue beam, huh? Ordinarily, I'd blame something like that on Doc, but he's not evil anymore, so I doubt it was his fault. You know, I had somewhat of a nightmare, when that thing hit me."

"Oh, yeah? What happened?"

"Well, Applebottom got busted-"

Irritated, Candace shouted, "Why couldn't I have had that dream!?"
