We spent the day arguing, not really only playfully, but the argument lasted the whole day, with occasional breaks but the topic came back around every time. What was the hobbits name? Each of us, a hundred percent sure what Thorin had sat, the problem was just, each of us remembered something different. And each of us swore, their version was the right one. Fili said it was Baggers, Kili was sure Thorin said Boggins and I knew it was Baggins. But well, no one wanted to be wrong, so we waited till we reached him and the losers would have to be the servants of the winner for a day. I was already looking forward to that, I knew I'd win.
Night was falling when we reached the shire and I fell in love, in love with these peaceful atmosphere, the cheerful laughter of the hobbits and the warm fuzzy feeling I got in my stomach. This was a wonderful place to happily and peacefully grow old, spending your days eating, drinking and watching your children work and your grandchildren play.
"So which house is the burglars?" Fili's voice pulled me out of my fantasies. "The one up the hill, green door and a mark on it." Kili explained and so we went up there, leaving your ponies tied to a nearby tree, where they could drink from the river and eat some grass.
I was getting really nervous and I didn't know why. To calm myself down a little bit, I grabbed Kili's hand and held it tight, maybe a little too tight. I heard him chuckle next to me and then he whispered "A little nervous aren't we?" I wish I could deny it, but lying to him wouldn't work. So I just kissed him, which always calmed my nerves down.
So there we stood in front of our hopefully-soon-to-be-burglar's house, Fili tapping his foot impatiently, watching us with crossed arms but a smirk on his face, while we kissed. I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him further into the kiss, I knew we should get inside, but I needed a few more seconds.
When I was calm enough I let go of my fiancé, smiled at Fí and we walked over to the door.
We knocked and waited, I couldn't help a huge that formed on my face.
The door was opened and there stood the cutest thing I have seen in ages, the man was even smaller than we were and his face showed a strange mixture of confusion and annoyance. His hair was curly and he was just so adorable, I wanted to cuddle him and take care of him like he's a lost puppy.
"Fili" "And Kili" "At your services" the boys introduced themselves and did their almost famous synchronic bow. I chuckled at their behaviour, completely ignoring my presence. I knew they were a little nervous and very eager.
"You must be Mr. Boggins." Kili stated confidently.
"Sorry, you can't come in, you've come to the wrong house." The hobbit shook his head and tried to close the door, but not with the boys. They wouldn't let him do so. "What?" Oh Kili, the poor hobbit probably hasn't been warned and didn't know we were coming, have mercy with him. "Has it been canceled? No one told us" Fi asked in the same aggressive tone as his brother. Not very diplomatic, or nice, for two princes.
"No, nothing's been cancelled." Wrong answer, Mr Hobbit. That was all the boys need, with a smile and a "That's a relief." Kili and Fili made their way in, without minding the hobbit another glance. I still stood outside the house, smiling, as Fili handed all his weapons to the little man and Kili struck off his boots on an old chest. The hobbit was desperately trying to stop them, but they just didn't listen to him and I couldn't hold back a laugh anymore.
My laughter finally managed to draw the hobbits attention to me. "Oh… Ahhm. Hello" he seemed confused at my presence, even more irritated than by the boys' arrival. "Hello, I am Tuiilin. At your service, Mr…" "Baggins, Bilbo Baggins, Miss Tuiilin. It's a pleasure." Ha, I knew it! Baggins it was and the boys were mine!
"Yes it is a pleasure. Please forgive my companions, they don't mean to be rude. May I please come in as well?" I smiled at him and he stared at me like I was some sort of weird creature, not answering my question. "Mr. Baggins, is something wrong?" "Oh, I'm sorry Miss. But are you also a dwarf?" He really seemed sorry for starring and I wanted to cuddle him again. "Yes, I am. Why do you ask?" "Well, I've never seen a she-dwarf and I always thought they'd look more like the man." I laughed, it's always the same with the other races. "No, we don't. I mean, most woman a stockier than me, but we don't have beards, if that's what you mean."
"Oh, I'm sorry. Please come in, Miss." He waved me in and I gave him another smile, to let him know I wasn't offended.
Inside I found Dwalin and Balin, both greeting me friendly and then continuing with their mission, which apparently was to prepare dinner. Fili and Kili were busy with a barrel of beer and I just smiled at the four of them, typically dwarfs. But I was hungry as well, so I decided to help them and while we sat the table, I heard another knock on the door. The rest of the company must have arrived, so I followed the hobbit, who still stole glances at me, probably still not believing I am a dwarf. As he opened the door, eight dwarfs fell through it and landed in a pile on the floor, behind them a tall grey man grinded inside, the wizard. "Gandalf" was all the hobbit said, so my assumption was right, meanwhile I helped the fallen figures on the ground back to their feet and greeted them. Being their usually dwarfish selves, they didn't even bother with the hobbit and just stormed into the dining room, to help with the table and the food. Everything was a mess, dwarves everywhere, screaming, laughing and throwing things around. I didn't want to come between them and their dinner, so I leaned against a wall and watched them, until someone hugged me from behind. I may have shrieked a little at the touch, okay I screamed out loud, causing the company to look and then laugh at me and Kili. His laughter reached my ear as he sat his chin on my shoulder and he placed a soft kiss under my ear, he loved scaring and surprising me like this and it was an easy fun for him, I wasn't hard to scare.
"Hello my princess, " he whispered into my ear," would you be so kind and assist my brother and me with the beer?" That was a trap, he asked way too nice. "By assisting you mean, I bring the beer and you two fools fight for the best seats on the table, am I right my prince?" I wasn't offended, I knew them and I knew they must be hungry, so I would just do them the favour. Kili had already been pulled away towards the table by his brother, giving me an apologetic smile and I shook my head at them.
As I walked in with the beer, the company was already seated, and there was no chair left for me! Great! Kili caught my eyes and smiled at me, waving me over to sit on his lap. The idea made me smile, I used to sit on his lap a lot when we got together, but with time that had decreased and now I realised how long I didn't do that, so I looked forward to it. There was just one problem, there was no way around the table! For a brief moment I considered crawling underneath it, but that didn't seem like a great idea. So over the table it was.
Bofur got my idea and helped me on top of it, I crossed it carefully, not to step on the food and handing out beer along the way. When I reached the other side, Kili had gotten of his seat, grabbed me by the waist and brought me down onto the floor. We shared a smile, his hands still on my hips and his eyes somehow drowned out the noise of the other people around. For a moment it was just us. So he pulled me closer to his body and kissed me passionately and deep until I pulled my arms around his neck to deepen the kiss and feel him closer to me.
I could feel him smile into the kiss, as the dwarfs started to cheer and whistle at our performance, occasionally dropping inappropriate comments. This reactions made me a little bold and so I let my tongue dance with his and entangled my fingers in his hair, tugging on it lightly. When we finally pulled apart, we both breathed heavily.
With a light blush on his face and a small bulge in his trousers, not visible but I could clearly feel it when I pressed myself against him, Kili sat down again, pulling me with him and sitting me on his right tight so we could both reach the table comfortably. I felt one arm sneak around my waist, keeping me close to him and I sighed happily, as long as I was with Kili, I felt safe and happy.
Fili pulled me out of my happy thoughts. "A little needy, aren't we?" he asked with a wink and I playfully punched his arm. "Hey, no offense. I was just assuming that from your little show. Luckily there were no children here." I punched him again, just a little harder. He rubbed his arm and put his mouth to a better use than witty comments, eating. And the rest of us did the same.
Well, one couldn't really call it eating. It was more of a mess and for every person with the slightest hint of manners it would be disgusting, but that's us dwarves. But the wizard and the hobbit did not join us during dinner, probably better for them anyway, someone might have eaten the poor little Bilbo.
After a good while of laughing, joking, being foolish and eating the food was gone and our bellies full, also we were a little less loud and finally Bilbo was brave enough to show around again, seeing what damage we had done. One of the others, I think it was Ori or Nori, but definitely not Dori, asked Bilbo where to put his plate.
And then it started, I don't know how it started, I wasn't really paying attention, due to someone's lips on my neck, but suddenly they were gone and everyone started singing and throwing plates around. Poor Bilbo looked like he was about to have a heart attack, which seemed to amused the dwarves, especially my beloved Kili and his brother, I would have a word with them later, about not giving people heart attacks in their own home.
In the end they somehow managed to have them all in one piece piled up in front of Bombur. They smiled at the hobbit, as if they were very proud of themselves for cleaning up so nicely.
Before anyone could leave a comment on this scene, there was a knock on the door.
"He's here." Gandalfs said.
Thorin has arrived.
