"Our did you say..wedding day?" Judy asked.
She was still trying to understand what was going? How did a their drive to no where suddenly become her possible wedding day?
"Yeah, I did." Tom said with a smile.
"Tom..I don't...I don't know what to say."
"Say yes!" Doug said from the background which earned him a slap to the back of his head from Harry.
"Would you give her a minute. She literally looks like she's gonna pass out. Partner, why don't you have a seat." Harry said
Judy silently nodded her head and was about to grab a seat when Tom had quickly grabbed one for her. Once she was seated she took a moment to get her barrings. She watched as Tom knelt down in front of her and grabbed her hands. He felt them trembling in his and looked up at her with a sad smile on his face. He then pulled her hands to his lips and softly kissed each knuckle on her hands while telling her to breath. Each time his lips touched her skin he started to feel her relax.
Once he saw she looked slightly less tense he then leaned forward and kissed her on the lips. Not caring who was around he moved to deepen the kiss so that Judy could feel all the love he had for. She responded back by sending all her love for him back into the kiss. It would have gone on longer if not for someone clearing their throat.
They both looked up to see Judy's father raising an eyebrow at them.
"I know you two love each other but, could you please cut it out. No matter how old she is she'll still be my little girl and no father should witness what I just saw. Not without a stiff drink."
Judy giggled while Tom had the decency to turn a slight shade of red.
"Sorry." They both said.
"It's alright you two. Your father and I were young once. Now honey, I believe Tom asked you a question. Do you have an answer?" Judy's mom asked.
Judy looked at Tom and all the others in the room. She wanted to give them an answer but how could she. There were so many things that had to be done. She decided to be the voice of reason.
"Tom, how can we get married? We don't have a marriage license."
"Yes, we do." Tom said.
"How? I wasn't there to sign it."
"You can thank Captain Fuller and Lt. Anderson for that. They filled out all the paperwork needed and got it pushed through city hall."
Judy looked over to them and they both nodded.
"How, did you get that done so quickly?" she asked
"Baby girl, when you have worked in the department as long as we both have you get to know people." Fuller said
"And it helps when one of those people happens to be my sister. She's a supervisor of that department. The paperwork is all completed and in the system so you can go to city hall at anytime and sign it." Lt. Anderson said.
"What about the rings? We don't have rings."
"That's where Tom's mother and I come in" Judy's mom said.
"Mom? I don't understand."
"I will explain later. Just know you have the rings." her mother said.
"But, I don't have a dress. I can't get married in this and Tom doesn't have a suit." Judy said pointing to her outfit.
"And this is where I come in. A father always buys the brides dress and if I'm not mistaken there is a bridal boutique in town. Don't worry about us men here, we already have our tux's ready and waiting for us." Judy's dad said
"Yes, but it takes time to find the right dress and.."
"You've got four woman here who know you're style of dress very well. Each one of us has picked a dress that we thought would suit you. So, all you have to do is pick one. And before you say anything about your hair, Danielle and I will be helping you out with your hair. Any other questions honey?"
"Yeah, just one."
"What's that?" Tom asked.
"What time is our wedding?"
"So, we're getting married today?" Tom asked with a huge grin.
"Yes! We're getting married today." Judy said smiling brightly.
Tom couldn't hold back his happiness. He swept up Judy from her chair and started spinning her around while she laughed and kissed him all over his face.
"Alright you two, come on back down to Earth. We gotta get this show on the road." Doug said.
Tom placed Judy back on the ground and just as they were about to kiss one more time when they were interrupted by Judy's stomach.
"Well, you can't get married on an empty stomach. Let's feed the bride and groom and then we can get these two hitched." Judy's mom said.
"Sounds like a plan. I'll let the kitchen know we are ready for some grub." Tom said.
"Dude, I got this. Sit with your bride to be." Doug said then took off towards the kitchen.
"Bride to be. I like the sound of that." Judy said.
"Me too." Tom said.
After a hearty breakfast everyone was ready to go their separate ways. Tom and the guys were going to get their hair cuts and tux's while Judy, her mom, and the girls were going to the bridal boutique to find her a dress.
Tom and Judy walked hand in hand outside. They didn't want to let each other go. It literally took Doug, Harry, Dennis, Landon, Danielle, and Judy's mom to pry the two apart.
Once the two were pulled apart Judy's mom went over to her husband and placed her hand out to him. He knew exactly what she wanted and sighed. Slowly he reached into his inner jacket pocked and pulled out his wallet. He opened it and pulled out one of his credit cards. As soon as his wife placed her dainty little fingers on it he held it a little tighter.
"Be gentle with it." he said
"Oh hush, and give it up big daddy." she said with a smile.
Judy's father watched as his daughter, wife, Tom's mother, got into Danielle's car with the other two friends following behind them in another car. He smiled as Judy waved good bye to him and blew a kiss towards him as they were leaving the parking lot towards the boutique.
He chuckled to himself.
"I'm losing a daughter and gaining a bill." he said to himself
"You ready, Mr. Hoff's?" Tom yelled out to him.
"Yup, I'm coming."
"Judy, don't keep us waiting. Which one did you chose?"
Judy had spent the last 45 minutes trying on the dresses her mother and friends had picked out for her and although she liked each one they had chosen for her they just didn't feel like "the one".
When Judy stepped out everyone ooo'd and ahh'd at how wonderful she looked in the latest dress. She looked in the mirror and agreed it was beautiful but it didn't take long to see that this dress too failed to fit the bill.
Knowing that time was short Judy felt like she just needed to pick a dress and be done with it. Just as she was about to say which one she wanted the manager of the store came up to her.
"I couldn't help but notice the look on your face. You don't like this dress much do you?"
"I like it. I like all of them but.."
"It's not the one. It doesn't speak to you right?"
Judy smiled and shook her head no.
"Well, there is simply no way that you can get married in a dress that only says you like it. You have to get married in a dress that you love. So, I want to help you find a dress you love. Now, tell me what you are looking for in a dress."
The manger listened careful to what Judy said she was looking for. She nodded her head at certain points and chimed in only when she thought she needed to. When Judy was done the manager grinned like a Cheshire cat.
"Now, honey I want you to hold on to your socks because I think I have the perfect dress for you. It just arrived today. I was supposed to pull it out this morning for another customer to see but I think this dress was meant for you to wear. Gimme one second and I'll bring it out for you to try on."
Judy watched she ran to the back of the store to get the dress. Less than two minutes last she walks out the back with a dress bag and hands it to Judy and tells her to go try it on.
The anticipation was running high and everyone is waiting on pins and needles to see this dress.
"Everyone ready?" Judy called out
"YES!" they all said
Judy walked out and they can't help but gasp at how beautiful she looks. She looks over to her mother and Tom's mother who had tears in their eyes.
"Oh, honey. Tom's gonna lose it when he sees you." Tom's mother said
"Mom?"
"Baby, go look in the mirror." Judy's mom said
Judy walked over to the nearest mirror and she is left speechless. She knows this is the dress that she never knew she always wanted. It was like it was made for her and only her.
"So, honey? Do you like the dress or do you LOVE the dress?" the manager asked.
"I love it. I really love it. Thank you. Thank you so much." she said twirling around like a princess.
"It was my pleasure. Now, let's get you everything else you're gonna need to knock that young man's socks off."
While the woman were trying on their dresses the men thought this would be a good time to do some bonding, and what better way to do that than liquor and cigars.
The inn keeper's husband had mentioned there was a place in town called "Man Cave" where the men could kick back for a few until it was time for the wedding.
It didn't take long to find the place and as soon they all entered the shop they all let out a collective sigh. The place was devoid of anything feminine. Which was something they all needed right now. They all knew this would be their final moment of manliness. Once the girls got back from dress shopping they would take over and make it as girly as possible. They were no fools. No matter how much you say the wedding is about both people, it's really about the bride and what she wants.
Once inside they were all greeted by the owner who was wiping down the bar.
"Gentleman, welcome to the Man Cave. My name's Dave. I gotta call that you guys were coming from my friend at the inn. He told me to take care of you and I plan on doing that. He also mentioned one of you is getting married. Who's the unlucky guy?" he joked.
"That would be me but, there is nothing unlucky about my girl. I'm lucky to have her." Tom said
"Well, who can argue with that. First round is on the house. Please feel free to look around. Make yourselves comfortable. I have fine selection of cigars for you to choose from so please help yourselves and if any of you are cigar novices let me know and I'll help you find one." Dave said
"I don't know about you guys but, I think some shots are in order." Doug said
"Now, that's a good idea." Fuller said
"I'm known to have them." Doug said
"Don't let it go to your head, Doug." Harry joked
Everyone laughed as they walked over to the bar and Doug asked for shots of Whiskey. The bar tender nodded and started handing out shots to everyone. Once everyone had a glass, Fuller called for toast.
"When I first came to Jump Street after the death of Captain Jenko I didn't know how I was going to fit in. For the first time in my life I was trying to fill in someone else shoes. I slowly came to realize that they were some pretty big shoes to fill. His loss was a very big blow to the young officers under him and I as their new Captain, I had to find a way to bring them back from the brink and make them a team again. I'll never forget my first meeting with my new officers. I looked around and sized each one up as I'm sure they were doing to me. There was Doug. A big guy with a bigger heart who can't last five minute without saying some kind of joke."
"Hey, I resemble that remark." Doug said.
Everyone laughed.
"See, what I mean." Filler said then continued.
"Then, there was Harry. A young man with an old soul. He's the conscious of the group. As I looked on I noticed two people sitting on the couch in my office. One was a baby faced kid that looked like he had the weight of the world already on his young shoulders. He was leaned back on the couch with his eyes brows scrunched up and arms crossed like he was still trying to figure me out. His face didn't straighten out until the young tiny woman next him hit his arm and whispered something to him. I never heard what she said but he quickly sat up and whispered I'm sorry. I almost laughed at how someone so petite could be so scary. I knew then that there was something special about those two."
Fuller turned to Tom and placed his hand on his shoulder.
"Tom, it has been my honor and my privilege to watch you and Judy not only become two outstanding offices in my unit but, you are two of the finest people I have ever come across. You, Judy, Doug, Harry, and now Dennis are my family, and I love you all as if you were my own. So, raise a glass everyone and join me in a toast. To Tom and Judy, may your love be always and forever."
"To Tom and Judy!" they all said in unison
After a few more rounds of drinks, the group was now relaxing and enjoying the cigars they picked out. There peaceful moment was disturbed by the sound of phone ringing.
"Gentleman, I hate to break the party up but I just got a call saying that the bridal party is back so it looks like it's time for someone to get married." Dave said looking at Tom.
Doug walks up to Tom and slaps on the back.
"OK! Let's get this man married!"
"C'mon guys, I can't make my future wife angry with me before we even say I do. Shake a leg." Tom said.
