Note, I'm skipping a lot of flavor text and background info, I figure if you're reading a fan fiction about a book, then chances are you've read the book and know, at least in part, that information.
I own none of the characters, not even the OC I made as she is part of the PJaO books and anyone is free to duplicate her for their own stories. Writing a story using characters from published books, I certainly can't complain if someone likes my idea enough to run it in a different direction, but please, no slash.
Rick Riordan and Patricia Briggs own all characters.

The gun on the cover image is what I based Terry's on. It's a real weapon that fires real shells, shotgun in the case of the gun in the picture. Terry's has more decoration, including an engraving of the Drakkon she killed on the handle (made of Drakkon Ivory) and Greek lettering spelling out "End of Infinity" along the barrel. It's also a lot more powerful, but then, most of the weapons used by demi-gods are.

Does anyone know what Auriele and Daryl's last name is? Or were I might look for it? Ditto for Felix.

Sorry for the long delay in this chapter. Sorry to my few fans, but the past month or so have seen event after event that have conspired to keep me from writing, or even spending as much time on the computer as normal. From several hotshots, to the whole thing with my laundry soap, from illness and death in the family, to my own problems with the gout (I refuse to write when I'm taking medication), to ALMOST every single book series I like coming out with a book in a six week period, I just haven't had time.
Adding to that, the plot of my story has grown far more complex than I originally intended with several hooks I hadn't thought about before I wrote them in, that I'm now trying to figure out how they'd play out logically. Basically, I've had to reread my entire story several times just to remember some of the stuff I've written (and now I understand why some long running book lines have such a problem with continuity).
I'll try and do better, thank you for your continued support.

I'm beginning to understand why my mom worries so much about me. Ok, not really, I've known for a long time, but I AM now coming to understand why she worries about how I affect everyone. Up till now, I hadn't really thought that much beyond Mom, my fellow campers and various supernatural critters. Even Rachel wasn't entirely normal. But now, now we have to deal with normal everyday mundanes who've become attached to us by virtue of having Annabeth's children.
I make a mental note to talk to Hestia about this. We've officially moved into the 'Needing a special place' territory.
We make polite conversation with the new parents, even the one who will be pretending that her son is really a younger brother, and her nephew is his twin. Annabeth is, understandable, jumpy, though while talking to Susan Henderson, I'm almost as bad. At fifteen, she's cute, incredibly smart, and considering we just pulled a baby out of her forehead, disturbingly willing (proving that like Athena, she's not all that wise). That is a complication I do not need. I hope a few days of caring for her son and nephew will cure her.
Dr. Cornick offers some covert financial aid to the Henderson's, Ms. Weably the half-fae and Agent Briggs. He doesn't flat out state that it's from the werewolves, he hints fae, but it's clear it's at least partly a bribe to keep their mouths shut about what they've learned about the supernatural. To the young witch, Ms. Hassan, he offers assistance as well in getting to Seattle. Her cousin there is evidently dating the local alpha werewolf; I also think he's getting just as creeped out about the old lady, Mss. Arkadyevna as I am. Annabeth glowers at her when she asks a pointed question about our abilities, so I don't think we're alone in that.
Agent Briggs stay's behind as Ariana leads the rest of them out to another room to get the baby supplies she picked up at Sam's request earlier. As they're walking out, I can hear Elizaveta telling Osmar how they can end the feud between their clans.
Agent Briggs just shakes his head; "Is she going to be a problem?"
Mr. Hauptman replies; "Let's just say that people like her are the reason we wolves do not openly talk about how long we can live. Her morality is somewhat suspect, though I don't think she's ever crossed any major lines. I would prefer however, to not test that. Though for multiple reasons, I also don't want to cross her. She's lost a lot due to her affiliation with the packs. Anyway, there's obviously a reason you hung back to talk to us."
"Yes, yes there is. Dr. Cornick mentioning yesterday morning as being the time of a magical accident, one that was capable of causing males to give birth, reminded me of a bit of information I learned. Also yesterday morning, the FBI and CNTRP both received phone calls from frightened parents claiming their children had been kidnapped and replaced by fae changelings. Cantrip dispatched a couple of agents, and sure enough, their normal, mundane children had been switched with what cantrip referred to as monsters. They were taken into 'Custody' and are to be shipped to a detainment facility tomorrow night. Call me silly, but considering the timing here, what are the odds against them simply being caught in the same event we were?"
"Not too high." I admit out load. "I don't suppose there's anything you can do legally to stop them?"
"Not in the least. The best I could do would be to somehow arrange a confrontation in an area that the media could watch. And even that's shaky. Quite apart from not having any sort of clout with the media and an intense desire to keep little Patricia off their radar, there's no way I could insure a reporter who was sympathetic to the supernatural would be who responded. And while I will openly admit that the CNTRP is a bunch of morons, as they say, even a stopped watch is right twice a day. What is the possibility those children were replaced by monsters? Truthfully."
"I have no idea sir. I am absolutely certain that SOMETHING came through with us yesterday, but the impression I got was something mechanical in nature. And not something that would replace someone, especially if it knew it couldn't fit in. I could be wrong mind you, I've been wrong about stuff often enough, but I think it's much more probable that they were normal kids caught up in a supernatural accident."
"That's about what I thought to." He say's shaking his head; "What the hell has happened to this country? There was less alarmism over 9-11 then over some kids with minor magical powers. So much for conservatives being the fascists of the country."
Mr. Hauptman breaks in with a grin at that, but asks; "What can you tell us about the kids, what happened to them, and about the plans for transportation?"
"Not much. Two girls, one boy, all three teenagers. Don't know anything about what happened to them other than rumor at the office, an office I left early due to a migraine headache. A more reliable rumor has the two agents that wanted to do a media blitz about the dangers of the fae, being found drunk at a bar after surviving a drunk-boating accident. After the show in DC this morning, I guess they decided to have the kids disappeared instead. As for the plans for transportation, I'll see what I can dig up, but I don't want to see a bunch of bodies, not even cantrip bodies. Most of them are good men, if somewhat stupid, just following orders."
Nico joins the conversation at that; "That's what my brothers men said about themselves as well. For a very good reason though, the US government executed them. You cannot be a good man, if every single definition your society uses to describe good is being ignored. Me, not having seen the kids, I'm all in favor of making a very graphic example out of anyone who would kidnap kids simply because they were different. If the kids have shown themselves to actually be monsters in mind, as well as body, I'd kill them myself. It's not like we haven't done that before, but I've let monsters live, in peace, when they've shown themselves to be peaceful, or at least able to control their urges. The more I hear about cantrip, the more inclined I am to treat them like monsters."
Nico looks at Mr. Hauptman strangely when he says that and I see a slight frown on his face, but I add; "I can agree with that. While there is a large part of me that relishes an open battle with the government, any government, maybe setting a few examples will curb the desire of the people in power to abuse their power."
"And you'd be horribly mistaken in that." Annabeth said, joining in. "America as a whole has, historically, not responded in the manner expected when stuff like that has happened before. Every single time anyone has used actual violence as a show of force against the people of the US, they have been destroyed. As a country, we just don't act like other countries. We're descended from people who couldn't, wouldn't fit in wherever they came from, and they're not going to start now. If you leave piles of bodies, even of people who most believe are scumbags, the people of the US will turn on you with hundreds of times the force shown. That's just the way things are, deal with it. If you really want to take down this cantrip, or even just take it down a peg, you need to get the people of the US to turn on THEM. If you can do that, the people won't care, won't even pay attention, as you systematically take them apart. Just be careful to not ever leave more than a few bodies at a time."
Mr. Hauptman looks at her with approval; "Listen to her on this, as much as I'm for immediate violence when attacked, the whole reason I still deal with Elizaveta is because as much as possible, we try to keep that violence hidden. I understand the impulse to simply destroy your enemies, trust me, I really do, but you need to measure that against the consequences. Most of which, I don't think you kids are even aware of. You also need to consider what the mind set of said people is about you. If they think you're stretching yourself thin, trying to bluff, they'll usually call you. Only when they are certain they will lose will they back down."
I nod, they're right of course, but I still agree with Nico. I glance at Agent Briggs, he doesn't look happy with Nico or me, but he seems relieved that Annabeth and Mr. Hauptman came down on his side; "Listen, I said I'd see what I can find, but I really don't want to see bodies over this. If nothing else, think of it as preventing the scumbags from finding their martyrs. God that sounds Sacrilegious saying that about them. I suppose that doesn't even matter to you kids does it? In any case, none of it may matter; they'll probably just fly them out."
Annabeth looks at him grinning; "No they won't! A sudden storm is sweeping in, and just like that, it's grounding all flights. Meteorologists are going to be completely confused by this unexpected storm. No one has seen it coming." As she says that, we can hear outside, the sudden sound of strong wind rattling the windows. "As for it not mattering, don't be so sure. Greek myths all have as a base the idea that all the primordial beings burst from the head of Chaos, God if you will. Now, when we came to this world, the event that caused your daughter also caused all of us to lose control of our powers. Actually, that loss of control was what caused your daughter, but I digress. When we lost control, we all felt our powers well up, and for a brief moment, gain some sort of intelligence. I have reason to believe that on our world, that's exactly what happened to Chaos, but unlike us, he decided to allow them to continue to exist. On you world, none of the Greek myths are true, so we can assume that here, he decided to either not allow them to exist, or to reabsorb them back into his whole at a later time. Think of us as the descendants of Gods imaginary playmates from when he was a young primordial essence. Heck, maybe the decision yes or no to that was what caused our universes to split. Hope that helps, personally, it scares the crap out of me. What if he decides to absorb us?"
"I wouldn't worry about that Featherhead, after all, he hasn't absorbed Hestia yet. And she's been here a while longer than us." Annabeth leans against me after I say that. This is one of those days when comfort is needed I suppose. "Anyway, thank you for the information Special Agent Briggs, but we really do need to be leaving soon. There are other after effects of yesterday brewing, and we need to go deal with one of them now. Thanks again!"
