Chapter 24

-x- Lumii -x-

The moment our kiss ended, everything went awkward.

We just stayed still and stared at each other like we've got all the time in the world. Strangely, I find myself enjoying this even though it's sort of awkward.

"Uh, so what do we do next?" I asked. I'm not really sure what to do after having my most memorable kiss so I just asked the most intelligent question that I can manage at the moment. You see, my mind is still all fuzzy from the explosion of emotions.

He just stood up, took my hand and said, "I'll walk you to your room." Oh, so I guess that this is what happens after.

We walk out of the room and I was surprised when I found out that we're on the top floor. "H-How is this possible? I'm sure that I entered the laboratory in the dungeon. How did Levi's room end up here?"

"My twin is crazy so I don't know how he did that. Some kind of crazy contraption that he set up, I think." He explained.

After that, we walked in complete silence. The silence is not that bad, it's kind of calming actually. It helped calm my nerves because I'm still quite jittery.

He laced his fingers with mine and hummed a very beautiful tune. "Hmm. It's very beautiful. Is that some kind of a song?"

He looked at me and said, "It's a song that my mother used to hum to Levi and me before we go to sleep. Never really knew the lyrics though."

I was about to ask further questions but he has that expression on his face that says that he isn't really comfortable with the subject so I just dropped the subject.

We reached my room and he opened the door for me. "Goodnight Rivaille!" I was about to close the door but he pulled me out and gave me a swift kiss on the cheek. "Goodnight Lumii."

I shuddered at the sound of my name. He doesn't really call me by my name that often. He usually calls me 'brat' or 'idiot' or any other harsh names so this is quite new to my ears.

"G-Goodni—"

"HOLY GUACAMOLE! What is the meaning of this Rivaille?!"

Rivaille and I looked at the one who said that and was shocked to see Levi—with Myrna.

Rivaille scowled and said, "What are you doing here Levi? Can you just mind your own business?"

"Of course not! Aww. My baby brother is in loveeeeee! I'm so happy for you two!"

"You're older than me by a freaking minute! Stop that or I'll feed you to a Titan." Rivaille threatened.

In order to stop their bickering, I joined the conversation. "Other than that, why are you with Myrna?" I asked. Levi laced his fingers with Myrna and said, "Uh, about that, we have something important to say. Myrna, you do the honor."

Myrna looked at both of us and said, "I-I'm calling off the engagement. I-If that's okay with Rivaille."

Rivaille and I both stared at each other wide-eyed then turned to look at Myrna. "A-Are you s-serious?!" Rivaille almost choked on his word.

"Yes. I realized the forcing myself on someone is like a double-edge sword. It will just hurt both of us," said Myrna.

My jaw dropped even more, if that was even possible. There really is something different about Myrna. It's like I'm facing a whole new different person. I wonder what happened between her and Levi that made her like that. I'm not complaining because I really, really like the new her, I'm just curious.

"It's settled then! I'll call Father first thing in the morning. Now, why don't we all get some rest? It's been a pretty exhausting day," Myrna said.

"Come on now, I'll walk you to your room." Levi said to Myrna. It's kind of funny that the twins are doing the exact same thing, maybe except the kissing part. But it's cute that they both walk their girl to her room.

Rivaille turned to me and said, "You better get some sleep. I'll meet you tomorrow. Goodnight." I watched him walk down the corridor before I entered my room.

Everything is too well. I sure hope that nothing bad will happen.

The next day, Myrna decided to help me in the kitchen. Wow, she really has changed. She's dressed in a plain white dress this morning and she's not even wearing any make-up. Because of her transformation, I can't help but stare at her like an idiot.

"Is there anything on my face?" asked Myrna.

I shook my head and said, "Umm, no! I just think that you're very beautiful without make-up. And you look pretty with that dress too. I honestly prefer you that way."

Myrna smiled at me and said, "Levi also said the same thing." Oh, there really is something going on between them. I noticed that Levi has been a lot happier today. He's skipping around the whole HQ while greeting everyone "Good Morning"

"Um. . .Lumii. . .I'd like to say sorry for my bad attitude. I understand if you won't believe me but I promise that I've really changed and will not bother any one of you again!"

I hugged her and said, "Of course I believe you. Levi already told me everything. He said that you were just influenced by the wrong people."

She hugged me back and said, "Friends?"

"Friends."

After that, we happily made breakfast together and guess what? Myrna made the soup! I guess that means that she also reconciled with Soup-chan!

What a conveniently happy ending. . .

. . .Until Fate decided to step in and ruin it.
