(Knothole Memorial Hospital)
After an almost five hour drive from Robotropolis back to Knothole, Sonic was unconscious the entire way. Right now, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Sally, Queen Aleena, Manic and Sonia are in the waiting room in the Knothole Memorial Hospital after they rushed the blue hedgehog inside from the Hummer. They have actually in the waiting room for about a hour and half hoping the doctor will come out and tell them that Sonic was at least going to live, not really too concerned on the injuries.
When they brought Sonic inside, they bum rushed the female jaguar receptionist, along with a male tiger doctor that came later on, with urgency in there voice and worried looks on there face. Luckily, their was a gurney on the wall not to far from the receptionist desk and, immediately, Knuckles put the blue hedgehog on it before the band of nurses rushed in and took him away.
Although, everyone there was worried about the hedgehog, Tails along with Aleena, Manic and Sonia were worried the most, both for different reasons. Of course, Tails still didn't know the relationship between the royal family and his big brother but he knew that is was something important that he must find out. Tails was also thinking about what happened at Robotropolis before he and Sonic made it outside.
(Flashback) {Chapter 24}
"You go with the others. I got Sonic." Aleena hesitated a little bit but nodded and ran with the others to the exit. Tails picked up Sonic bridal style and flew the fastest he ever could to get the hell out of there.
Even though he was flying fast, it wasn't fast enough to make it to the exit as the self-destruction lady's voice reached to seventy seconds and he was still about four minutes away from the exit.
"Fuck, Fuck, FUCK! I won't be able to make it in time." Tails yelled and cried but still trying his hardest to make it out. "Sonic, I'm sorry, man. I'm sorry." "Tails," Tails looked down in his arms and saw Sonic open his right eye. "...don't ... give ... up." "Sonic, I'm nowhere near the exit and I'm going as fast as I can."
Sonic slowly brought out the blue chaos emerald and, luckily, had enough energy. "Chaos...CONTROL!"
They teleported outside as is reached to sixty-five seconds till self-destruction. Tails looked on confused as he realized where he was. He looked down at his brother and saw the chaos emerald in his hand then moved his head up to see Sonic unconscious. 'He must've used all the little bit energy he had left to get us out of here.'
Then Amy yelled, "Where's Tails?" "Right behind you. Now let's get out of here before the fireworks shoots."
(End Flashback)
'Sonic, please be alive. I would never forgive myself if you're not.'
[Two Hours Later]
A doctor white lion came out of the ICU section of the hospital with a clipboard in his hands.
The doctor looked down at his clipboard as h read his own handwriting, "Sonic the Hedgehog."
Unfortunately, everyone fell into a deep sleep after waiting so long on the chairs and/or couches. Fortunately, Tails was still awake and heard his brother's name being called. He stood up and walked to the doctor with what little hope he had left in his crystal blue eyes. "I'm his little brother. Is he alive, Doctor...?" The doctor replied back,"...Alex and yes he is very much alive but, he has suffered sufficient amount injuries, internally and externally."
Tails was happy that Sonic is alive but was about to cry badly about the injuries. External injuries can heal, but internal injuries can either take months to heal or won't heal at all an this bothered the two-tailed kitsune down to his bones. "How bad are the internal injuries then, Doctor Alex? Are they bad enough that they won't heal?" Tails was hoping that 'No' was the answer. God heard his prayers.
Doctor Alex replied, "No, heavens no, they will be healed guaranteed. He will just need to stay here in the hospital for about three weeks to recover." "Can I see him?" "Of course. Follow me." They walked through the door that led to a whole massive corridor of hospital room. Most of the room's door were closed but it didn't silence the sound love ones crying or the stench of medicine, vomit, blood or all three for that matter. Now that he thought about it, the hospital can be the most depressing place ever. No cure for diseases, have to pay out of pocket if you have no insurance, the no flavor food, the white walls and bed, constant beeps of a heartbeat before the flat line sound. 'Now I know why doesn't like coming to the hospital at all.' In just their four to five minutes of walking, Tails has smelled the endless stench of medicine and vomit, heard about three flat lines, and, of course, seen too much white everything in just one hallway. Suddenly, Doctor Alex stopped in front of a room with the door closed numbered 'E-24'.
"Here it is. I have to get to more patients so I'm afraid I have to leave." Tails gave the doctor a small genuine smile of understanding as to why he has to leave. "It's okay, doc. Thank you and your staff from the bottom of our hearts." The doctor smiled brightly and nodded his head before heading back down the hall, leaving Tails at the door to see his brother. "Here goes nothing." With a hesitant hand and heavy beating heart, Tails placed his black glove on the cold metal doorknob and entered the room.
Now he wished he waited a little longer with the sleepy bunch.
Sonic has bandages on his arms, left side of his head, and a massive amount of bandages around his abdomen. To top it all off, not only does he have an IV needle stuck in his right arm and chest, but also has a clear plastic tube stuffed down his throat in order to get the air back into his lungs.
It was the most horrific sight Tails has ever seen as long as he known the fast hedgehog. Tears couldn't stop flowing out of his eyes as he saw all of the thing that's keeping him alive put into him like he was a robot or an injured version Inspector Gadget. His crystal blue eyes, now a dull midnight blue from tear, wanted to look a from the sight but knows that Sonic needs him more than ever now. So Tails sat down in the chair that was already set next to the bed and wiped up as much tears as he could.
"Sonic," Tails lifted his head to meet his big bro, who is faced up toward the ceiling. "...I don't know if you can hear me or anyone who has past by in that matter, but I wanted to tell you that even though we went through some extreme bullshit this year alone, you've always been there when I needed you the most. Even when you were exiled, I still could hear you talk to me through the rosary you gave me before you left." Tails took the rosary out of his shirt and held it close to his chest to where his heart is. "I'm happy that you are going to live to see another day, but you not being able to move or make a sound is bothering me to no end. Sonic please wake up soon so I can talk with my big bro again, please."
Tails lost track of time and fell asleep in the chair using only his tails to keep himself warm.
He just wants his Big brother back, badly.
