The next few days were torture. After the little outing with Ryou and Malik, Yuugi had immediately tried to call Jounouchi in for a favor, it being a little chat with Seto about creating some fake papers for the spirits. With his high intelligence and power, Yuugi was sure Seto could complete it within the forty-eight hour time frame they had. Unfortunately, Jounouchi's phone went straight to voicemail, a feature Yuugi always found himself struggling to do well in.

After leaving an awkward and very vague rambling message, Yuugi began the preparations of leaving the hotel room he had barely visited in the past week. He forced the two spirits to pack their own things, since he was exhausted enough. He took the rental car back to car rental, since they were getting a ride in Ishizu's car to the airport.

The next day, Yuugi awoke to loud knockings on his door. Upon opening it, whatever complaint he had flew directly out the window as the image of Seto Kaiba standing outside registered in his mind.

Seto growled at his dumbfound expression. "Jounouchi told me you needed some papers." With that said, he pushed past and entered the room.

The process took a few hours, where Seto was interrogating Atemu and Yami, who were carefully avoiding the whole truth. In the end, the story was that they were distant cousins of Yuugi's who were orphaned at a very young age and lived homeless on the streets for most of their lives. The CEO didn't quite believe them, if the distrust in his cobalt blue eyes indicated anything, but nevertheless accepted it and finished up the paperwork.

Before he left for Domino City in his private jet, Seto whispered something harshly to the spirits. In turn, Atemu snorted defiantly while Yami stared straight into Yuugi's curious gaze with guarded eyes. Upon questioning, neither would reveal what had been said and reassured him it was nothing.

It was clear no one of the spirits liked the wealthy man.

The following day was the day they had to leave. They checked out of the hotel and squeezed into Ishizu's beat up minivan. Ishizu was driving, Ryou taking up shotgun, Akefia and Bakura sitting in the two middle seats, while Malik was uncomfortably sitting on Mariku's lap in the back. Yami was quick to take the other window seat while Atemu took the middle. Yuugi, having been stuffing their bags in the back, was left to choose whose lap to sit on, since there was no room left. His time to choose was suddenly up as he was picked up by Atemu and seated in the former Pharaoh's lap. After much squirming and protesting, the smaller finally gave up against Atemu's strong grip and forced himself to relax, though only succeeding slightly.

Once arriving at the airport, they parked the car and said their goodbyes to Ishizu. She had a word with the spirits as the modern day men gathered their luggage. Malik joked that the talk had more of a threatening tone than a tearful goodbye.

As soon as Ishizu had disappeared into the crowd of cars, they went through the regular checkings without a problem. Boarding the flight, Yuugi made sure he was seated with Ryou and Malik this time by practically shoving the two towards on row, blocking the way in or out. Obviously annoyed by this, the darker skinned spirits were quick to complain. Yuugi made a mental note to thank Yami when he intervened and told them it was only for a few hours. Though he could've left out the part where they would be stuck with their individual spirits once they reached the apartment, Yuugi thought bitterly.

A long fifteen hours later, in which most of the group had the fleeting thought to jump out of the plane to at least get some excitement, the captain announced that they would be landing in Domino Airport soon. A relieved sigh came from all those who were still awake while Yuugi turned in his seat and continued watching the sun set in the sky.

Yami, despite having a very low viewing point of taxis, fell asleep as soon as his butt hit the seat. Atemu had scooched the now dead weight over so he and Yuugi could have some room to sit themselves.

The group had split up for the journey to their temporary - at least, what was thought of in Malik and Ryou's position - home in three different taxis. Acting like children deprived of attention, the spirits arranged each group to their liking, which was the opposite of what the modern day men wanted. They were, however, too tired to complain and sucked it up. They were going to have to share an apartment space with them either way, so why not get the chance to try and get used to the mostly unwanted company?

Yuugi rested his head against the cool window, watching the city lights blare past them. His stomach growled, reminding him that he had skipped out on both breakfast and lunch. A quick glance at the small numbers glowing faintly underneath the taxi's meter told him that he was currently missing the prime time to eat dinner as well. Comparing the time between Egypt and Japan, Yuugi sorely realized it was around midnight back in the desert country, which explained his tired and agitated mood.

A faint buzzing sound reached the graduate's ears, coming from his small carryon bag. Atemu, who was barely awake, stiffened at the sudden sound, crimson eyes darting from one end of the taxi to the other in a failed attempt to see where it was coming from.

Snorting softly in amusement, Yuugi fished out his phone and flicked the screen, allowing the call to be accepted without really seeing who was calling him. He ignored the blatant stare the one sitting next to him was giving and summoned all his remaining energy to chirp out a friendly greeting.

"Hello? Yuugi? Is that you?"

His heart palpitated for a moment at the voice he hadn't heard in a few years. He felt a smile etch onto his face and new life return as he responded quickly.

"Anzu? Yeah, it's me. I haven't talked to you in forever! How are you?"

A relieved laugh sounded from the other end. "Thank goodness, I was worried you'd changed numbers or something." There was a pause and some rustling, the phone obviously being taken away from Yuugi's friend's face as she moved when the sound of American pop music drifted through the speaker. "Anyways, I've been good. Lonely without my best friends, but I've been managing. And how about you? You've graduated, right?"

"Yeah, got my degree. I'm actually heading to the new apartment Jou was kind enough to use Seto's money to buy for me. I didn't really get the time to unpack, since I had to go on a quick trip to Egypt for some research."

"Egypt?" The awe in Anzu's voice was expected. She always did love to travel. "Damn, you lucky dog. Did you find what you were looking for?"

Yuugi had to lean back towards the car door as Atemu tried to press his own ear against the device to hear what they were talking about. Swatting the tanned man away with a few flicks of his wrist, Yuugi couldn't help the small prick of fondness from reaching his eyes as he watched Atemu accidentally bump Yami into wakefulness, causing a small argument to form.

"You have no idea."

"Hm," Anzu hummed distractedly as more rustling sounded. "Oh, almost forgot! I'm heading back home for a few weeks or so. I haven't been there in ages." The last word was drawled out in exasperation, drawing a small chuckle from Yuugi's end. "I'll be heading out in three days. Expect lots of partying!"

The last phrase was used as the typical goodbye as a small click was heard and the phone lost connection. Yuugi grinned at the thought of seeing his childhood friend again, one he hadn't seen since the summer after high school had been finished. He had no doubt that his already fried sleeping schedule was just going to get worse as memories of wild parties and get togethers from a time long ago leaked into his head.

"Who was that?"

The inquiry snapped Yuugi back into attention with a few blinks. Atemu was staring expectantly at him with questioning and…jealous eyes? Shaking his head at that, Yuugi spared a glance in Yami's direction. The spirit had fallen back to sleep, his head resting comfortably on Atemu's broad shoulder.

Yuugi waved a hand in the air. "Just an old friend I haven't talked to in a long while. She's coming back here from her dancing career in New York, a dream she's had since we were kids."

"Will we be able to meet her?" Atemu asked, leaning an inch closer so their arms were flush. His usual, teasing smirk was gone, in its place an unreadable expression.

"Sure, she's probably coming to my apartment, so-"

"We're here."

Yuugi blinked, glancing out the window upon the taxi driver's call from the front seat. He hadn't realized they had stopped, or how long time had passed. Sighing as his exhaustion came rushing back to him, he only paused to pay the man for his services and grab their stuff before dragging both spirits up the small flight of stairs and into the apartment space he had claimed his own less than two weeks ago.

Ignoring the boxes that still needed to be cleaned out, the bone tired young man threw his bags in the living space while never diverting his attention from the path to the bedroom. He resolved to eat a large breakfast in the morning as he tumbled into bed, not even bothering to change his clothes or snuggle under the covers.

It was with great annoyance that he had to admit not completely falling into sleep's arms until two warmths laid next to him a few minutes later.

Once more, I'm sorry for the uber late update. Next chapter should be up sooner, if these sudden plot bunnies allow me.
