(Eve's POV)

So from what I heard, Elsword took care of the kids that night while I was asleep. I have no idea how he could manage those demons, but he was able to keep them from waking me up. I was very grateful he did that, if I had to spend the rest of that night with them, I'd kill each and every one of those pests.

I spent the next few days cleaning, studying, and reading. Yes I know not very eventful, but it's not like I have anything better to do. The only huge event coming up is that huge New Year's party. I obviously have no interest in going, but as we all know I don't have a choice now do I?

I jump back to reality to the sound of my phone ringing. I check who the caller is and surprise, surprise, its Rena probably reminding me about the party. I place my book down on my lap and answer the call.

"Eve glad you're awake!" Rena said loudly. I could already picture her smiling widely.

"Yeah, so what do you want?" I reply, while playing with a strand of my hair.

"Well I just wanted to remind you about the party; Chung will pick you and Elsword up. You better come or else I'll be really upset!" She scolds.

I sigh and pick up my book," I got it." I reply monotony, hoping she'll pick up on my disinterest in going.

"Great!" I could just picture her fist pumping. "See you there!"

With that she ended the call. I wonder if this girl pretends to be dumb, any dim wit would be able to tell I don't want to go. Well at least Els is going. I guess this would be a good opportunity to spend time with him without anyone disturbing us.

I giggle and gave myself a gentle slap," you sound like an obsessed fan girl." I scold myself. I shake those creepy thoughts out of my head and continue to read.

(Elsword's POV)

I watch as mom continues to talk to Elesis, she talks as if Elesis is actually awake. It pains me to see both of them like that. The bright side is that the doctors said Elesis is recovering fast, she should be close to waking up.

I glance at the clock; it read 2:30pm. I'm supposed to be picked up by Chung around 4:00; they want to start the party early, so we can have more fun. I return my gaze to my sis, and mom. In a way they both look dead.

Sis looks like she's ready to go to heaven at any moment, while mom looks tired and worn out; she looks totally tired out right now. I sigh and place my hand on mom's shoulder. She looks at me, knowing it's time to go.

If I don't tell mom to leave, she'll just stay here and talk. We both know it's not going to be healthy for her to do that, and we both know it won't help Elesis; but it's still hard to stop her one sided conversation. It's like I'm slapping the harsh reality back into her face.

"Oh right don't you have a party to attend?" My mom asks. I nod while grabbing her coat for her. "Alright we should get going then."

I wave my sleeping sister goodbye and head out with mom. I let my mind wander, wondering what will happen if she never wakes, and what will take place if she does wake up. Those thoughts can get depressing, and they get annoying real fast.

"So who's place is the party being held again?" Mom questions while starting up the car.

"At Rena's house," I began. "Chung's coming at 4 to pick Eve and I up." My mom smiles slyly while raises a brow at the sound of Eve's name.

"Oh, you and Eve eh?" She states with a wink. "You kids have fun, but remember safety first."

I could feel a blush appearing on my face. Gee, has my mom been speaking with Daisy' because she sounds like her right now. "M-mom what are you thinking?!"

My mom giggles and waves her hand, gesturing me to forget about it. I awkwardly look away from her. Now I have a perfectly good reason for not bringing my mom over to Eve's place, Daisy will fill her head up with her little ideas.

After we got home I quickly hit the shower, and changed into some new clothes. By the time I was ready, it only 3:30. Since it was pretty early I decided to clean up around the house. Mom insisted on cleaning out one of our spare rooms. She said that will be Elesis' room. We still aren't sure when or if she'll wake up anytime soon, but we decided to prepare the room anyways. At least we still have some hope left in us.

The spare room was at least 90% finished by the time that door bell rung. I hurried downstairs to answer, and before me was Chung.

"Hey man, we got to go now." He gestured to the driveway.

I nodded and grabbed a random jacket in the closet. "Mom, I'm leaving now!"

"Very well honey, have fun!" She replied from upstairs.

I quickly locked the door and followed Chung to his car. We were going to pick up Eve next; hopefully she's all ready to go. We arrived at her place within a few seconds, Chung parked his car in the drive way and looked at me.

"Well." He smiled. "Aren't you going to go get her?"

"You're the one who's driving, you go." I snap back. He leans back in his seat and yawns.

"I would, but as you can see." He rubs his sleepy eyes. "I'm a bit tired, and my legs are asleep."

"Then call her." I suggested. Chung shakes his head and lets out another yawn.

"I would, but I don't have my phone with me." He shrugs. "We can stay here all night, you know?"

I grumble angrily while getting out the car. Inside I could see Chung doing a mini victory dance. That guy is so dead after.

I ring the doorbell and stuff my hands in my pockets. I glance at the house beside, to see the family moving out. I wonder who'll be moving in. I sort of wish my mom chose to move closer to Eve. I hope her new neighbours will be nice.

"Els?" I snap out of my fantasies and look in front of me. Eve smiled, causing my face to grow warm. "I'm guessing Chung is here with you?"

"Y-yeah." I stutter. "He's waiting for us."

She nods and grabs her coat. My eyes land on the silver heart around her neck. It makes me happy to know it's still in good shape, and she's now willing to wear it more often. She locks the door and skips down the steps, I clumsily followed behind her.

"Oh looks like I'll be getting new neighbours." Eve exclaims. She waves her old neighbours goodbye before getting in the car. "Hi Chung!"

"Hey." He starts up the car. "Alright fasten your seatbelts! Our next stop is to Funville!" He turns up radio to full blast, and drives off to Funvile.

We arrive in about 15 minutes or so. We arrived to see Rena waiting for us already. She waves happily at us as we got out from the car. "Eve, Elsword, welcome!"

I wave at her, while Eve got a bone crushing hug. "Come on in, I prepared some dinner for everyone!"

"Already? It's still pretty early." Eve exclaims. Rena shrugs while leading us in. I strong smell of fresh burgers filled my nose once I stepped inside. We took off our boots and followed Rena in.

"Leave your things on the couch; we'll be going outside after later anyways right?" She says with her cheery smile. Eve, Chung, and I do as she says and left our stuff scattered on the couches. I hope her parents don't mind.

I awe at the fresh burgers sitting on the plates arranged around the table, along with some slices of pizza, and a slice of strawberry shortcake. Now this is what I call a feast! Eve's stomach growled loudly, causing her to look down, hiding her blush.

"We'll eat once Aisha and Raven arrive." Rena explains. "In the meantime, we can just chill and talk."

"Hey did you buy the fireworks?" Chung asks. Rena nods, and points to the plastic bag sitting at the far corner of the kitchen.

"I checked the weather for tonight, it's not too cold, so the fireworks should work fine." She explained. That's good to hear, bad weather seems to always ruin fun events like these.

Our heads perk up at the sound of the doorbell chiming, Rena was the first one to spring up and answer it, while we followed after her. Rena opens up the door revealing our two famous love birds. Aisha and Raven smile widely at us, and waved us hello.

"I smell food!" Raven comments while taking off his coat. "Now I'm starving!"

"The food is good, I promise!" Rena winks. She suddenly comes to a stop, and backs away. We noticed her strange action right away. Everyone peeked in front of her to see a tall woman standing in front of us. She had yellowish eyes, her hair was short, and was a lighter shade of yellow than Rena's.

"Welcome to our home." The woman greets with a smile; which I assume is Rena's mother.

"Mother, these are my friends." Rena steps aside and gestures to each of us. "That is Elsword, Eve, Raven, and Aisha.''

Her mom steps closer to us, studying each of us carefully. She walks towards Raven and Aisha, her eyes lock onto Raven's arm which is wrapped around Aisha. Tension filled the air as we waited for her to say something. She continued to stare at the loveirds, making the couple tense up. She brushes Aisha's loose piece of hair back and smiles.

"Young love, it is beautiful." She said. Her tone of voice had some sadness pinched into it. "You two are dating, no?"

"Y-yeah, she's my girlfriend." Raven spoke up. Aisha nodded and moved closer to Raven, while keeping eye contact with Rena's mom.

Rena's mom looks towards Raven, her smile was gone. "You better treat this girl well boy! Playing with a woman's feeling is a horrible sin to commit!"

Raven swallows and nod, surprised by her sudden outburst. I glance over to Rena, she looked down at the floor with misty eyes. Her mom looks back towards Aisha, she smiles at her and places a hand on her shoulder.

"I can tell this boy cares for you quite a bit. Cherish the days you two are together. Life is cruel, so enjoy everything it has to offer." She turns away from the couple. "I wish I knew this earlier before it happened." She said barely in a whisper. "Rena, I trust you'll make sure everything goes well, and our guests will be comfortable."

Rena quickly snaps out of her trance and nods. "Yeah, you should rest mother. Don't you have to work tonight?"

Her mom yawns and rubs her tired eyes, "very well, I shall retire to bed now." With that she takes her leave. Awkward silence filled the room, no one really knowing what to say.

"Er, your mom seems nice." Aisha awkwardly comments.

Rena shrugs and continues her way to the kitchen, we follow behind her. "My family is a bit strange, sorry about that, guys."

"No it's okay." Eve pipes in. "Come on we should eat beofre the food gets cold."

Rena's cheery smile returns at the sound of food, "yeah! Let's stuff ourselves with junk food guys!"

(Eve's POV)

The food was amazing indeed. After dinner Rena allowed Raven and Aisha to play some games on her play station, while the rest of us went to play some Monopoly. It was a simple game, but it was a great time killer. Raven and Aisha came over to cheer us on after they were done pvping. It was a tight finish, but I won the game, with Rena just behind me. They say this game breaks apart friendship, well in my opinion it causes people to develop some serious anger issues.

"You totally cheated!" Chung pouted. "I swear you gave yourself more money!"

I shook my head," now don't be such a poor sport Chung." The Pikachu frowns some more, while grumpily putting away the game.

"Hey we should spend the rest of the night outside!" Aisha suggested. "We're having fireworks out there anyways, we can put on some music and dance like idiots."

"Just hope the neighbours won't complain." Rena giggles. "You guys go get your stuff, I'll meet you outside."

We grab our coats from the couch, and bundle up. They say tonight is supposed to be warm but I highly doubt that's true. With the snow still here, the temperature should still fall in the negative side.

"Alright snow time!" Chung grabs his boots and hurries outside to the porch. Everyone went running after him, like cats to a laser beam. I grab my boots and walk towards the back door; unlike the others I have no intensions of running.

"It appears you kids are now going outside." I jump at the voice behind me. I quickly turn around to see Rena's mom standing behind me.

"Y-yes ma'am." I reply awkwardly. Rena talks to her in such a sophisticated manner, it feels awkward to talk to her in any other way.

"Call me Amelia child." She smiles. "You are Eve, correct?"

"Yes."

"I hope you do not mind, but my daughter has been telling me about you." She began. Hm I wonder what Rena told her. "She specifically told me about her feeling towards your friend, with the red hair."

"I-I-I don't- well- er." I blush. There really is no denying it at this point . . . "Maybe I do hold some feelings for him."

Amelia smiles at me and whispers," precious things can disappear quickly. Now I do not know what your situation is, but you should tell him one day. Don't live life with regrets child."

"But he dated Ara once, and I'm pretty sure they-"

Amelia puts a hand over my mouth and sighs," babbling on like that is not very lady like. Listen, whoever this Ara is, you must go to war with her. Now I am not implying for you to hate her. You should still befriend her, for a grudge will only cause things to turn upside down."

"Mom, what are you and Eve talking about?" Rena suddenly asks. I jump at her sudden appearance while Amelia simply smiled at her.

"That is for us to know only my dear daughter. Now I must leave for work, please do stay safe." Amelia waves at us and leaves.

Rena sends me a funny look," um so what were you and mom talking about?"

"That's classified information." I giggle. Rena pouts and follows me outside. Everyone was running around her bid backyard, the frozen lake in the background made it seem like we were in some kind of frozen wonderland.

"What took so long?" Aisha shouts.

"Nothing!" Rena and I reply at the same time.

Rena links arms with me," come on lets have some fun!" With that we went tumbling into the snow. It was like the Christmas party again, snowballs flying everywhere, laughter, and fun. Raven turned up the music, which only fired up everyone's sprirt. We made quite a bit of noise, but no neighbours came out to tell us to shut up.

We calmed down a bit as midnight approached. Raven put on a more peaceful song, while Rena and Chung prepare the fireworks. I laid down on the snow, staring into the starry night sky. Amelia's words from before began to replay in my head; which makes me wonder, what happened to her lover? Rena's house hold seems to be lacking a dad.

"Whatcha thinking about?" Elsword plops down beside me. I shrug and continue to stare blankly at the sky.

"Got any New Year's resolutions?" I ask, hoping to change the subject.

"Nope, I'm too lazy to make those things!" He replies with a goofy smile. "Look I think it's the big dipper!" He points to the arrangements of stars.

"Then that must be the North Star." I point to the tail of the constellation. "You know I've always wanted a huge black out!" I blurt out. "Then when you look up at the night sky we'll be able to see our very own Milky Way, most people will be afraid because they've never seen so many stars and colors in the sky!"

Elsword places a hand over my mouth," I thought we came here to have fun, not learn about astronomy."

"Whatever, you just ruined the mood." I sit back up and stare at the frozen lake.

"Okay guys the fireworks are ready!" Rena announces. "Aisha what time is it?"

"Almost midnight guys!" She happily replies.

"So," Elsword plops up. "Do you have any New Year's resolutions?"

I sit back and stare at the sky once again," not really. You know I don't do things like that." I shrug.

" precious things can disappear quickly." The thought is pretty dark and scary, but sadly it is the truth.

" . . .but you should tell him one day . . ." Should I? Would it kill our friendship? What if he only likes me as a friend?

" . . .Don't live life with regrets child." Though if I don't ever tell him, I know I will regret it one day. Amelia doesn't seem to want any of us to live life like that, because I'm pretty sure that's how she's living her life; with regret, many regrets.

"Count down time guys!" I hear Chung shout. Perhaps I do have a New Year's resolution.

"10!" Everyone chants.

No matter what happens.

"9!"

No matter what takes place.

No matter what my excuses are.

"Happy New Years!" My group of crazy friends cheer. Right on queue the fireworks start exploding in the sky. Several people came outside to see them. Chung threw snow around, while Aisha and Raven kissed. I glance back to see Rena smiling at the lit up night sky, everyone is in the best of moods.

"Happy New Year." Elsword playfully punches my arm.

"Happy New Year indeed." I said with a smile.
