Mom leads me into the walk-in closet. It's the size of my bedroom back home. Rows of designer dresses and shoes await me. I've tried to neglect this room (uh closet). I wear my own clothes.
Some of the price tags I'd checked were ridiculus.
"I've selected this gown for you. If you don't like it you can always wear anything else.", she says as she holds out a beautiful black gown with full length lace sleeves. It has a small slit at the back.
"I love it. It's beautiful."
"I'm glad that you liked it". she says with a wide smile. I think she's pleased.
"I'll let you get ready. Do you want me to do your hair?"
"Yes I'd like that. Thank you.". I was planning on leaving my hair loose and open since I don't know and hairstyles. I usually just leave it open or hang it in a high ponytail sometimes. Mom smiles at me and leaves the room.
I put on the gown and pair it with matching black sandals with a moderate heel and some silver hoop earrings that I had. Suddenly there's a knock on my door. I open it and let mom and Phoebe in. They both look absolutely gorgeous. Mom is wearing a midnight blue off-shoulder gown when her hair falls down in waves. And Phoebe is wearing a strapless silver gown.
"Wow you both look amazing.".
"Thanks. So do you. But you're running a little late.", Phoebe says.
"It's alright Phoebe. We just have to get her hair done.", mom says as she gets started on my hair. She doesn't take long as she pulls up my hair into a simple but sophisticated looking chignon.
"You have to teach me how to do that.", I say as I look into the mirror. The hairstyle compliments my gown.
"Sure thing.", she says .
"Are you going to go barefaced?", suddenly Phoebe comments. Oh. I have applied some mascara and put on lip gloss.
"Umm yeah. I mean, I don't know how to apply makeup.", I say self consiously, as I take a look at myself in the mirror. I thought I looked cute-ish.
"It's alright Phoebe, Annabeth doesn't really need makeup.", my mom says as she tries to assure me.
Phoebe rolls her eyes at her. " I didn't say that she looks bad. Just that she needs a little something to make her look perfect.". She removes a tube of eyeliner from her clutch.
"Here. Let me put it on.".
After she applies the eyeliner I look into the mirror.
"Wow it brings out your gray eyes perfectly.", she says appriciatively.
"Yeah Annabeth. It looks beautiful on you.", mom says as she looks at my reflection.
"Thank you Phoebe.", I smile up at her and she smiles back at me. I'm actually really happy that she seems to have overcome her dislike towards me. I do hope that we're able to get real close.
I've never had a sister but I've always wanted one. It'll be amazing if we're able to form a close bond with each other.
