The gang began searching through the island, wanting to find the next scepter as quickly as possible.
"Now are you positive you're in the right direction, Feemer?" Tiana asked.
"Yes, when have I not been positive?" said Feemer.
"Oh, I don't know..." Tiana started.
"ALWAYS!" the other princesses concluded.
Meanwhile, as the gang started their search through the city, Merida was given strange looks from the upperclassmen and women, whispering as she walked by them.
"Yes! My hair is frizzy! So what?! You could fit a beehive in those thing on your heads!" Merida shouted at two women with exceptionally large hairdos.
The two women gasped, feeling besmirched by Merida comments and walked away with their noses in the air.
Rapunzel chuckled. "Maybe you should consider getting a haircut. Next thing you know, people might mistake you for a hedgehog," she said.
"Well at least I can't jump rope with mine," said Merida.
"Will ya'll knock it off and focus?!" Tiana said.
"It is not nice to make fun of other people's hair deformities," said Snow White meekly to Merida and Rapunzel.
"I wonder how Jasmine is doing with the king?" asked Mulan.
"I'm sure she's fine," said Aurora.
The gang knew Jasmine was capable of taking care of herself. She could handle any ole king. And with that thought reassured in their heads, they continued searching for the scepter and they could feel themselves closing in when suddenly, the sounds of trumpets filled the air.
"Make way for the king! Make way for the king!" shouted a man riding a white horse carrying a gold carriage.
The citizens, including the gang, parted ways as the carriage made its way through the town. The gang watched Argon as he rode inside the carriage along with Jasmine of all people.
"Was that Jasmine?" asked Merida.
"The king must have kidnapped her! We have to save her!" said Pocahontas.
But as she started to run after the carriage, Cinderella stopped her. "Wait, Pocahontas. From what I've seen, the king doesn't seem like the kidnapping type. Besides, if he does try anything, Jasmine can handle him," she said.
"I guess you are right," said Pocahontas.
Cinderella did have a bit of reservation as to what Argon was gonna do with Jasmine, but she knew for right now, they had to focus on the task at hand and find the scepter.
Jasmine observed the citizens of the upper class part of the island and as she did, she contemplated the privileged, sheltered life she had back in her palace in Agrabah. She had grown up in life where she was used to getting what she wanted; whether it was nice clothes, fine jewelry, or even things she didn't wanted like obnoxious suitors; and all that time, she never really thought about what was going on beyond the palace walls and seeing the lower class part of the island reminded her of that.
But she knew she had an opportunity to help here and she was not going to waste it.
"Now Jasmine. Before you meet the representatives, you must be formally attired," said Argon.
Jasmine nodded in agreement. This was something she definitely understood, especially in light of the fact that her father would often want her to look her best for the suitors.
"You just make sure you follow on our end of the agreement. Understand?" Jasmine said.
"Of course, Princess. I will make sure to talk to them about the peasants...eh...poor people," Argon said after being met with a cold stare from Jasmine.
As their search continued, the gang found themselves getting closer to the next scepter's location as Feemer led them to one of the buildings in the upper class part of the city. Feemer glowed brighter as they approached the white door of the house.
"The scepter must be in there," said Tiana.
"All right, so let's go in and get it then," said Merida, pulling her bow and arrow.
"Easy there, Ms. Fast and Frizzy, someone probably lives in there. We can't just break in," said Tiana.
"She's right, it's very rude to break into someone's house unannounced," said Snow White.
The other princesses eyed Snow White curiously after her comment with her blissfully unaware of why they were doing so.
In any case, Tiana realized it would be best to knock on the door before they did anything else and she did just that.
A stout woman answered the door, her face slightly curled upward. Next to her was a young boy with short, brown hair.
"Um...hello, ma' me," said Tiana.
"Hello, my name is Wanda and this is my son, Thomas. What can I do for you?" the woman asked.
"Well, this may sound a little odd, but you wouldn't by any chance happen to have a big crystal scepter on you? A big stick-looking thing?" Tiana asked.
After a bit of thought, the lady realized what Tiana was talking about and went back into the house to get it. She returned and in fact, the very scepter they had been searching for was in her possession.
"Is this what you're looking for?" Wanda asked.
"Yes! Yes it is, ma' me!" Tiana exclaimed.
"Well too bad! This is an important piece of jewelry and far too valuable for me to part with," Wanda said.
"But it's very important that we have it," said Flora.
"Absolutely not!" said Wanda.
Merriweather puffed up and was about to charge at Wanda, but Flora stopped her.
The gang had to figure out some way to get the scepter from her. Without it, they would have no chance of saving the Magic Kingdom.
"Maybe we could make a trade?" Flora suggested.
"Oh yes, is there anything you would want in exchange for your scepter?" asked Fauna.
Wanda couldn't think of anything in particular that she wanted as far as material possessions were concerned, but then a thought came to her. "Well, there may be something I could trade for," she said.
"What?" asked Aurora.
"I'm a member of the Regalia Committee and I have a lot of things to oversee. It will take a couple of days and well, my son here is too young to be in the house by himself and taking him along will complicate things. So, if you'll agree to babysit him for the next few days, I suppose I would be willing to part with my heirloom," Wanda said.
The gang formed a huddle to take Wanda's offer into consideration.
"I say we do it," said Merida.
"Me too. It can't be that hard to take care of a child," said Rapunzel.
"Taking care of a child is no swim in the sea," said Ariel.
"Ariel's right. But we don't really have a choice. We gotta get that scepter," said Tiana.
"Hey, if I can handle me three brothers, I can definitely handle one itty bitty kid," said Merida.
"I suppose we have nothing to lose," said Aurora.
"And besides, just look at him. He's so adorable," said Snow White.
The other princesses, the good fairies, and Feemer weren't quite in agreement with Snow White's comment upon seeing the young boy picking his nose. Though Merida and Pocahontas didn't seem to mind.
"Well you all act like children anyway, so it shouldn't be too hard taking care of one," said Feemer.
So after a mutual agreement, the gang agreed to look after Wanda's child, much to her delight. And conveniently, it was at just the right time, because she had to head off to prepare for the dinner with the representatives. Leaving a long list of things to help them take care of Thomas, she bid the gang farewell and rushed off and the first day of babysitting officially began.
Thomas gave a friendly smile to his new babysitters. "It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance," he said.
"Well aren't you the most polite little thing," said Snow White, pinching Thomas' cheeks.
Tiana looked over the list and was surprised to see there were quite of lot of things on it, but if there was one thing she was an expert on, it was organization, and with her guidance, she was confident she could get a handle on things.
"So, are you ready to have some fun?" Aurora asked Thomas.
"Oh yes, I most definitely am," Thomas answered, his friendly smile turning into a sinister one.
Thomas' change in demeanor brought an uneasy feeling to most of the gang, except for Snow White, this is. Most of them could already tell they were in for quite possibly the longest few days of their lives.
At Argon's castle, Argon and Wanda watched as a variety of foods were placed on the table in preparation for the meeting. Argon informed Wanda that Jasmine would be making an appearance at the meeting to discuss the issues with the island.
As one of the chefs brought in another food item, he was tripped by Jasmine, dressed in a white long dress and high-heeled shoes, who came out another door, causing it to spill all over him.
"Umm...sorry...very sorry," Jasmine said as she helped up the chef.
Argon was slightly embarrassed, but shook it off as Jasmine walked over to him and Wanda, trying to maintain her balance in her shoes.
"Wanda, this is Princess Jasmine from Agrabah," said Argon.
Wanda extended her hand out to the princess. Jasmine went to shake her hand, but she tripped over her shoe again and began hopping towards the table. Luckily, the chefs moved the dishes out of the way before Jasmine could knock them over. Jasmine tried to get her footing, but she started hopping forward again past Argon and Wanda, then in front of them before stopping and finally shaking Wanda's hand.
"Nice to meet you," Jasmine said awkwardly.
"Are you alright, dear?" asked Wanda.
"Yes, I'm just not used to wearing these kind of shoes," Jasmine said, trying to maintain her balance.
But despite this, the time for the meeting was in less than an hour and Jasmine knew she would have to be prepared to speak out. Hopefully, there wouldn't be much standing for her to do.
Tiana called forth the other princesses and presented a chart of how they would handle the babysitting activities. The chart had a schedule for times when they would make Thomas lunch, play with him, give him a bath, brush his hair, brush his teeth, and even cut his fingernails and toenails.
"Geez, Tiana, do you have a schedule for when he can breath?" said Merida.
"Haha, but babysitting is hard work, Merida, and it's always good to have a well balanced schedule to avoid chaos," said Tiana.
"Psst, I say as long as you keep the kid from messing anything up, there's no problem," said Merida.
"Yeah, all we have to do is keep him out of trouble for the day. How hard can that be?" said Rapunzel.
"Harder than you think," said Ariel. "Take it from someone who knows. When I babysat the Clambakersfield Twins, did I have my fins full with them."
"We just have to work together and everything will be fine," said Aurora.
"For the child's sake, I hope you're right," said Feemer.
"Wait, where is Thomas?" asked Mulan, noticing the child was gone.
The princesses looked around and found no sign of him anywhere. It was as if he had vanished.
"Oh great, not five minutes in and we've already lost the kid," said Tiana.
"We gotta find him quick!" exclaimed Cinderella.
"What if he ran outside?!" said Aurora.
The princesses gasped at the possibility.
Keeping her cool, Tiana ran over to Pocahontas. "Ok, Poca, you go out and see if the kid ran off outside. The rest of us will search in here," she said.
With that, Pocahontas went outside to search for Thomas while the others searched in the house.
"And so it begins," Ariel said with a sigh.
Rapunzel and Merida searched in the kitchen; Cinderella, Ariel, and Aurora looked in the upstairs rooms; and Tiana, Belle, Mulan, and Snow White looked in the living room.
Aurora began to worry about Thomas' safety. "You don't suppose he got eaten, did you?" she said.
"Eaten?" Ariel said.
"Yes, maybe he got eaten by some horrible creature, like a vicious bear or maybe he got his head stuck somewhere and he's gasping for air, crying at the top of his lungs, but no one can hear him, surrounded by darkness and-" Aurora said before Cinderella cut her off.
"Aurora, please," Cinderella said.
"Thomas is fine, stop worrying," said Ariel.
As the three kept on searching, a thought came to Cinderella's mind. "You know, Tiana sure is organized. She always seems to be one step ahead of everyone in any and every kind of situation. Do you think she would make a good leader?" she asked.
"Maybe. Why are you asking?" said Ariel.
"Well, it's just...when Snow White was injured and Aurora was doubting herself, I couldn't do anything to help," said Cinderella.
"Don't blame yourself for that. I was the one who needed to regain faith in myself, not you," said Aurora.
"And besides, we all felt pretty helpless when that happened," said Ariel.
As Cinderella, Aurora, and Ariel continued to talk, the other princesses couldn't find a single trace of Thomas anywhere, beginning to figure that he may in fact had gone outside, but they kept looking.
In the kitchen, Rapunzel was steadily looking for Thomas while Merida was taking food from out of the cupboards.
"Mer, this is no time for a snack," said Rupunzel.
"Shhh, it's not for me, it's for Thomas. If there's one thing me three brothers have taught me, it's that when you're trying to catch a bear, ya lure him in with honey," Merida whispered as she prepared the sandwich.
The sandwich was stacked with ham, bologna, cheese, and tomatoes. Once completed, Merida placed the sandwich on the table, pretending that she was gonna eat it, but forgot the mustard. After that, she took Rapunzel and two hid in a corner to see if Thomas would take the bait, making sure not to make a sound.
Suddenly, the two heard a munching sound and discovered the sandwich gone.
"Wow! That kid might have as big an appetite as you," said Rapunzel.
As Merida and Rapunzel pondered as to what to do next, Thomas leapt from out of one of the cupboard onto Merida's back, riding her like a horse.
"Haha! Gotcha!" said Thomas.
"OK, kid, you had your fun," said Merida.
"I haven't even begun to have fun!" Thomas exclaimed.
The child grabbed two pans from the drawers and clapped them against each other like symbols. He then proceeded to chase Merida and Rapunzel around the kitchen, into the living room where Tiana, Snow White, Belle, and Mulan were still looking.
"Have any of ya'll found him yet?" Tiana asked.
The others answered no before Merida, Rapunzel and Thomas entered the room.
"I found them!" Snow White said gleefully.
"Nice work," Tiana said sarcastically.
Thomas made his way up the stairs and then slid down the banister. Mulan tried to catch him, but ended up getting smacked in the face with a frying pan and rolled down the stairs. Thomas then jumped on the couch and swung on the chandelier.
"Forget the schedule, I think we're gonna need a straight jacket," said Tiana.
Eventually, Thomas' swinging caused the chandelier to break and fall from the ceiling. The princess just barely jumped out of the way.
Pocahontas arrived shortly.
"Did I miss something?" she said.
The time of the dinner had approached and the rest of the representatives arrived. Though still wobbling from her shoes, Jasmine knew she would have to keep her composure.
One of the representatives was a fat gentlemen with short black hair and a monocle; another was a skinny woman with a long nose and long brown hair, and the third person was a lean man with grey hair.
Argon brought Jasmine over to the representatives.
"Gentlemen...and lady...so nice to see you again," said Argon.
The fat gentlemen, named Christopher, approached the king first. "Ohoho, hello Argon. How are things in the castle? Obviously, you appear to be eating well," he teased.
"Yes, you should know all about that," Argon teased back, pointing at Christopher's stomach.
"Um, excuse me..." Jasmine tried to say.
"And Margret, as lovely as ever," said Argon, talking to the woman.
"And you're still as UN-charming as ever," Margret teased before Argon gave her a kiss on both cheeks.
Jasmine tried to speak up again, but again, was unheard as Argon approached the grey haired man and gave him a strong hug.
"Douglas, you old bean!" Argon said.
"Hey, I may have grey hair, but I am way younger than you," said Douglas.
Jasmine cleared her throat and Argon finally introduced her. "This is Princess Jasmine from Agrabah," he said.
After nearly falling to the ground, Jasmine regained her balance and shook hands with the representatives before they sat down for dinner. As the servants served the food, she reminded Argon of the promise he had made to her and the king told the representatives of the current problems regarding the poor people on the island.
"Are there really that many poor people?" asked Douglas.
"I always thought those were just rich people with bad clothes," said Margret.
"I always thought it was some new commoner fashion sense or something or other," said Christopher.
Jasmine just dropped her jaw at how ignorant the representatives were. "Those people need help. You have the money, so use it properly!" she said.
"This is obviously very important to her, so do you think you could help?" asked Argon.
The representatives decided they would try to help with the peasants on the condition that Jasmine would help them with the events. Some way or another, they always had some trouble planning their events year after year and having the aid of a princess would certainly help their cause.
Jasmine was a bit hesitant at first, but ultimately agreed. She wasn't exactly sure how she would be able to help with the events, but she was sure she had to try. If there was anyway to help the poor people of the island, she would take it.
