John was glad to finally be back at work in some arena in Philadelphia. He needed to get away from all that craziness over the past few weeks. Well, he was never going to get away from it but being at work was kind of a distraction from it all. He noticed people kept starting at him and he wondered what that was about but then he realized he really didn't care and didn't think much of it.
"Come in," John called out when he heard a knock on the door to the locker room he was currently in.
"Hey John," he looked up from the bag he was looking for something to see Randy standing in front of him.
"What do you want?" He was still pretty pissed off at his so-called friend for not telling him about Anthony. Sure, he knew about his son now and spent some time with him the last couple of days, but what was a couple of days compared to the three years he lost? Plus, it didn't seem like Anthony actually grasped the concept of John being his father like he would had he been there since day one.
Randy rolled his eyes. "Still haven't gotten over it, huh?" That earned him a glare.
"Shut up."
Randy held his hands up in defense when John looked very angry and wouldn't be surprised if the other man just punched him right then and there. "Chill."
"Is there a reason why you're here?"
Randy rolled his eyes yet again. "I was getting there before you interrupted me. Now stop looking like you're about to punch me otherwise I will walk right out."
"Maybe that's what I want."
"I don't think so. I think you want to hear this." He continued after John sent him a questioning look. "How about you just read for yourself," he said as he took his phone out of his pocket and pulled up what he was talking about before handing it to John.
He studied John's expression and saw how annoyed he got and thought he read almost everything he was reading. "So is it true? I mean, obviously I know the whole cheating thing and the stuff about Anthony is true, but are you and Mickie really getting a divorce? Did Lita get a miscarriage after you got her pregnant again?"
John didn't say anything. He was still trying to register everything he just read. How in the world did some random dirt sheet get all this information about his life? How did they know so much? And how did they get that picture of him and Anthony. Lita was definitely going to be angry about that one.
"Is it true?" Randy asked once again after a while which got him John's attention.
"What?" John asked confused. He heard Randy talk to him, he just didn't hear what he was saying.
"You and Mickie are getting a divorce?"
John nodded. "Actually got finalized this morning. Thought it was gonna take a bit longer, but clearly it didn't."
"So you cheated on Mickie again and got Lita pregnant again?" John simply nodded so Randy continued. "She lost the baby?"
John let out a sigh. "Yea."
"Well, they're both gonna be pissed off about this."
"Unless one of them is the 'reliable source close to one of the three involved.'"
Randy arched a brow. "You really think one of them would just leak all of that?"
"No one else knew any of this and if Lita did tell Trish or Dawn, do you really think they would tell anyone? Mickie... I don't know who she would tell. I don't know."
Randy shook his head. He was about to say something, but was interrupted by the ringing of John's phone. He handed Randy's phone back to him and took out his own phone.
"It's Lita," John said as he looked down at his phone to see who it was. "I'm hoping it's actually Anthony and not Lita. Or maybe she doesn't know. I'm pretty sure it's not like she looks herself up online."
"Or someone told her?" Randy suggested. "Well anyways, good luck. I'm gonna go." With that said, Randy left.
"Hello?" John answered the phone and wasn't surprised by the response he received.
"What the hell?!"
John cringed at the sound of her voice. Just like he suspected, Lita was angry. "Oh hi Lita. What's up?"
"Are you serious? What's up?! Really?! You are so stupid! I'll tell you what's up! First of all, there's a picture of my son on the internet and I don't want that! Especially not with all this crap..." she trailed off and tried to calm herself down, but it didn't work. "I decide to get on Twitter for some really stupid reason and guess what?! People are calling me a whore and I really don't care about that because I've heard worse. From your mouth nonetheless."
"Those were jokes and kinda sorta scripted," John said only to be ignored like he suspected.
"Do you want to know why they're calling me a whore?" She continued much calm now without waiting for John to say anything because it wasn't like she was expecting an answer. "Because somehow these people know what goes on in my life even though it's none of their damn business. I was sent a link to some website which I decided to open because I'm an idiot. I am trying to figure out how these people know these things and well, you're the only person who comes to mind."
"Why would I-"
Lita didn't care what he had to say and continued. "Now some of what these people are saying make them sound like straight up bitches. I really don't care what they're saying about me, I really don't, but... Like I said, some are straight up bitches who have nothing better to do with their lives so they just want to bring down others." She paused for a moment and John was about to say something, but that's when she continued. "I don't know why I kept reading. I don't know why I didn't just close out the page. There were some people who were making jokes about... about losing the baby. Someone asked who hit you with the chair to fall on top of me."
"Lita-"
"That's not funny. Why would someone make jokes about that?"
"I don't know," John answered even though he knew she wasn't looking for an answer.
"And then... I finally got out of there after I read someone saying that the same thing should have happened to Anthony."
"Lita-"
"I know I made a mistake and I don't care what people say about me because I can handle it. But... but not those jokes, not what they say about Anthony. That's not fair."
John didn't say anything for a while because he didn't know what to say. "Just stay away from the Internet."
"That's not going to stop anyone from saying whatever they want about him."
John let out a sigh. "I know. And I'm not the one who told... I didn't say anything."
"Then who did? Because other then the two of us, Dawn and Mellie are the only ones who know about the pregnancy and what happened afterwards and I know one of my closest friends or my sister would never do that to me. And neither of them know about you and Mickie divorcing."
"Mickie," John said after a while when that was the only person who came to mind that cold have possibly revealed all.
"You told Mickie? Why would you tell her? It wasn't any of her business."
"I-"
"I can't believe you would do that. You don't see me telling anyone about you and Mickie."
"It was a mistake. I didn't mean to. It just-" he stopped when he heard the dial tone on the other end indicating that Lita hung up on him.
"Great," John said to himself since he was the only person in the room. "Just great."
This was all starting to piss him off. He was wondering who could have been the person behind all of this and the only other person who came to mind was Mickie and he really didn't think even Mickie would do that. It also didn't make much of a difference to him even though he was annoyed someone was leaking information about his life because it was already out there, but he could tell Lita was upset and angry and maybe Mickie was feeling the same way so he decided to call her.
"What?" he heard the voice on the other end when Mickie picked up the phone.
So this was probably going to end up being a conversation in the similar fashion as the one with Lita not long ago. "Hi Mickie."
"What do you want John?" He could tell she sounded irritated and tired. "I don't feel like talking right now. What do you want?" She asked once again.
John didn't say anything for a moment and then went in on the reason why he called.
"And you think I would put all of that out there for people to read?" Mickie asked much more irritated than she already was when she first answered the phone. "It's none of their business."
"That's not what I'm saying."
"Then what are you saying?"
"Maybe."
"Unbelievable! You really think I want people to know what goes on in my life?!"
"Well, did you tell anyone?" John asked and that's when it hit Mickie. She had been telling Kelly some stuff and she was probably the one spreading it around.
"A friend."
"Who?"
"That doesn't even matter. If you didn't want people to know the horrible things you have done, then maybe you shouldn't have done them." Once again, John found himself being hung up on.
"Well, I guess this is going to be normal now," John thought to himself as he completely turned off his phone and put it away. Work was supposed to be a distraction and that clearly wasn't working. Little did he know, life was about to throw another curve ball his way pretty soon.
Meanwhile, Mickie was pretty angry about the short phone call she had with John. She was already in a terrible mood, tired, and annoyed and that phone call didn't help whatsoever.
It had been almost three months since Mikayla was born and Mickie wasn't getting a hang of motherhood at all. She was okay at first, but then she began to feel very overwhelmed around the time John left and she was left alone with the baby. There was so much to do all the time. She wasn't getting any sleep. She was so angry and irritated all the time and she didn't know why, it wasn't like she was talking much to anyone else. She also felt very tired all the time like she had no energy to do anything at all. She wasn't getting much sleep because it felt like Mikayla was crying at all times and when Mikayla was sleeping, she wasn't able to fall asleep. Because of all of that, she never wanted to be around Mikayla. She even hired a nanny recently because she couldn't and didn't want to deal with Mikayla at all.
Mickie decided she couldn't do this anymore and was in need of a break. There was just so much going on, with John and Mikayla, and she couldn't handle it anymore. She felt lost and like she needed to find herself again. She got up and went to her closet and packed a bag of some clothes and other things she knew she was going to need. After that was done, she quickly wrote down a note for John before having a little chat with the nanny. She wasn't leaving forever, she was just going to be taking a break before things got even worse. She would be back, she just didn't know when that would be. She just needed to clear her mind and that was going to take some time.
